Chat with Bill Williamson

Bill Williamson
  (2:02 PM)

Hey everyone, let's get started.

Virginia Beach Va

I was wondering do you think the the Chiefs are blowing the games at the end to get a high draft pick this year.

Bill Williamson
  (2:02 PM)

No way, This team wants to win.

JD, Riverside, CA

What experience does Cable have with play calling? Are the Raiders really considered one of the teams to go Los Angeles? If so, what have you heard?

Bill Williamson
  (2:03 PM)

He called plays at UCLA, I believe.

Tony From San Diego, CA

Bill, If Cromartie is hurt and seems like he's hurting the team by being out there, would there be a possibility that Cason gets much more playing time if not start.

Bill Williamson
  (2:05 PM)

I could see that, especially with Cletis Gordon out for a couple of weeks with an ankle injury. The Chargers didn't use the nickel package against the Chiefs and Cason's play was limited. This kid is a playmaker. He needs to be on the field.

travis (farmer city,il)

impact that tatum bell will have sunday??

Bill Williamson
  (2:07 PM)

He'll get some carries out of need. Don't expect too much, though. He hasn't been in an NFL uniform for more than two months,

Grant from Phoenix, AZ

Who do you see the Chargers keeping in two years Shawne Merriman or Antonio Cromartie? Who is more important?

Bill Williamson
  (2:09 PM)

I think the first nine games of this season answered that question. Cromartie had 10 picks last season with Merriman leading the pass rush. Cromartie has two picks this season. Merriman is more important and it's not even close.

Keith (Springfield, MO)

Do you see Hillis having an impact in the run game/short pass game against the Falcons this week?

Bill Williamson
  (2:10 PM)

He better have an impact or the Broncos will lose badly. The Broncos need to be balanced and Hillis will be the go-to back, apparently.

GP (phoenix, az)

How effective do you think San Diego's O-Line will be at Pittsburgh on Sunday as far as picking up Dick Le beau's zone blitz scheme in run blocking and pass protection?

Bill Williamson
  (2:11 PM)

It will be a challenge. How bout this stat? The Steelers have allowed three rushing scores all season.

PT (Franklin, NC)

The coach of the Oakland Raiders next season is.....?

Bill Williamson
  (2:12 PM)

I know they want Jim Harbaugh of Stanford. But does he want them?

PT (Franklin, NC)

Will Justin Miller return kicks this week for the Raiders?

Bill Williamson
  (2:12 PM)

There's a decent chance, yes.

Jared (New Rochelle, NY)

Who is this Hillis guy and what does he do?

Bill Williamson
  (2:14 PM)

Seventh-round pick from Arkansas. Best suited as a receiver out of the fullback posiiton. Blocked for Darren McFadden and Felix Jones in college. He was a superstar high school tailback for what it's worth.

PT (Franklin, NC)

Micheal Crabtree or the best offensive tackle in the first round for the Raiders?

Bill Williamson
  (2:16 PM)

That's a tough one. Big Al would have a hard time passing up Crabtree just like he couldn't pass up McFadden. But sooner or later, someone is going to be needed to block for all of these guys.

Grant from Phoenix AZ

Do you see Darren Sproles being a factor in the run and passing game at Pittsburgh?

Bill Williamson
  (2:17 PM)

He could. When he is rolling, he is pretty special.

Almar (San Jose,CA)

Bill, will you be in Oakland this Sunday, their last win was when you were in town, Please say YES!!!

Bill Williamson
  (2:17 PM)

No and neither will the Raiders. They play in Miami this week.

Doug, Colorado Springs

What do you think the chances of T. Bell being with the Broncos long term?

Bill Williamson
  (2:18 PM)

It's all up to him. If he performs, sure. The team needs backs so he will get a fair chance.

Almar (San Jose,CA)

I mean Miami to watch the Raiders...

Bill Williamson
  (2:19 PM)

Sure, I'll watch,

Dan (Sandy Eggo, CA)

Chris Chambers was a disappointment for me last week fantasy wise. Is he on track to receive more looks this week against Pittsburg? How is his injury treating him, and has Jackson going to steal more looks from Chambers?

Bill Williamson
  (2:19 PM)

I still don't think he's 100 percent.

Ganan (San Diego, Ca)

Will Michael Bennett have any kind of imapct in the Chargers running game? Was Bennett's addition a sign that the Chargers do not trust the [high priced] rookie Jacob Hester yet?

Bill Williamson
  (2:20 PM)

I think they claimed Benentt because Sproles is a free agent at the end of the season. It was an insurance policy move.

Ryan (Denver, CO)

Who is the key to the Broncos if they want to win this week?

Bill Williamson
  (2:21 PM)

Like every week: No turnovers.

Mike Kinnelon, NJ

Hey Bill, nice to talk to you again. Concerning the Raiders, How do you feel the Raiders will fair without Deangelo Hall, are we properly equipped? And do you feel as though this was a good move? His expectations did not live up to his contract. Thanks Bill

Bill Williamson
  (2:22 PM)

I really didn't like the move. Do it after the season. It was just another illustration of the problems there.

John (Watertown, NY)

Your answer to PT is exactly what's wrong with the Raiders! Davis always has to try and make a splash with his picks. Granted McFadden is a great rb, but w/o a good ol how is supposed to flourish. And picking Russell over Quinn was ludicrous! He had one good season with LSU and Quinn had a consistant career at Notre Dame. If he'd just focus on ability and skill instead of flash and speed they might be able to turn this mess around.

Bill Williamson
  (2:23 PM)

I'd have a hard time arguing with you, John.

Tom (Simi Valley, CA)

You know the Broncos' RB situation is bad when, during the Browns game, I actually said out loud "Gee, it's too bad Shaun Alexander already signed with the Redskins."

Bill Williamson
  (2:24 PM)

That's not good, Tom.

Ryan (Denver)

Why did the Chargers sign Michael Bennett? The Broncos really could have used him...

Bill Williamson
  (2:25 PM)

Denver tried to claim him, too but the Chargers claimed him as well and because San Diego has a worse record it was awarded the claim.

Will J (Portland, OR)

Bill, if you were Harbaugh, would you want to coach the Raiders? Although it would be great leverage in renegotiating his contract with Stanford (ala Weis).

Bill Williamson
  (2:26 PM)

I think leverage may be playing a part, yes.

Doug, Colorado Springs

Why didn't the Broncos try to get Lynch back? If not as a player...why not bring him back as a db coach and try to regain some of the defensive leadership we lack?

Bill Williamson
  (2:27 PM)

I just think that ship has sailed for both parties.

Ryan (Denver)

Can you see Jay Cutler winning the MVP if he keeps his team winning while putting great numbers? Or do you think Brees or Warner are most likely to win?

Bill Williamson
  (2:28 PM)

Cutler would have to play out of his mind and lead Denver to a 7-0 or 6-1 record the rest of the way to win the MVP at this point.

Keith (Springfield, MO)

I think since Denver will have it's full compliment of offensive weapons (minus a RB - cross your fingers Hillis!), Denver should be able to move the ball and score against ATL. Prediction on the score of the game? I predict a DEN win 34-28.

Bill Williamson
  (2:29 PM)

You are a very optimistic man, Keith.

Patrick (NYC)

Hi Bill. Great work! I am fascinated by Tyler Thigpen. He started playing well and all of the sudden the Chiefs have pushed 2 possibly 3, playoff teams to the limit. Do you think he could be another Brady-esc diamond in the ruff? As miserable as the Chiefs offense has be I don't even know if Brady could have stepped in and done this well.

Bill Williamson
  (2:30 PM)

Brady, no. A legit starter? Yes. I like this kid. But let's not go cazyy. Tom Brady is one of the bwst players ever to play. But Thigpen could be the answer for K.C.

Jonathan (Aurora,CO)

Record down the stretch for both the Chargers and Broncos?

Bill Williamson
  (2:30 PM)

8-8 and 8-8.

Brett (LA,CA)

Hey Bill, how much of an impact will Larry Johnson have now that the offense has changed?

Bill Williamson
  (2:31 PM)

It will be inteesting to see. But the Chiefs have to get Johnson in the mix. He only helps the offense.

Keith (Springfield, MO)

Should I not be so optimistic? I like being the glass half full kind of guy.

Bill Williamson
  (2:32 PM)

That a baby.

John (Watertown, NY)

Now that DA's future may be over in Cleveland, could the Raiders possibly make a move for him next year. He'd be a huge step up from Russell.

Bill Williamson
  (2:33 PM)

The Raiders have too much invested in Russell to dump him now. He needs anotehr year before a decision is made. Moves like this are what keeps the Raiders down.

Nick (CO)

What position is hurting the Denver defense the most (there are many, but is hurting them the most).

Bill Williamson
  (2:34 PM)

D-line and safey, I believe.

Ryan (Denver)

Do see Eddie Royal and Brandon Marshall boht having 100 cathces this year and over 1,000 yards?

Bill Williamson
  (2:35 PM)

Yes, they could do it.

Brett (LA,CA)

Keith...no Champ Bailey = Roddy White MVP day. Denver's defense = Michael Turner MVP day. Do the math.

Bill Williamson
  (2:35 PM)

Keith, he may have a point. Turner killed Denver when he was with San Diego.

Doug, Colorado Springs

Bronco's first pick of the draft...what is this teams biggest need...defence line, linebacker, Db, other?

Bill Williamson
  (2:36 PM)

I say best defensive impact player.

John (Watertown, NY)

Any word on Burgess? The d-line needs him badly! They have no pass rush really.

Bill Williamson
  (2:37 PM)

There's a good chance he will be back this week after missing five games with a triceps injury. Yes, he has been missed.

RPA (Niles,OH)

Bill, do you think KC has ANY chance this weekend. The team is decimated by injuries. I follow the them daily and I couldn?t name you 6 starters on D who will be playing this week. Do they have any shot playing with guys who were garbage men last week?

Bill Williamson
  (2:38 PM)

They had basically the same problems at San Diego and they nearly won. This game is at home,. Sure, they have a chance. This team is playing pretty good ball right now.

Casey(Wilmington, NC)

Who has a better chance to win on Sunday. Denver at Atlanta or SD at Pittsburgh?

Bill Williamson
  (2:39 PM)

Good question. I'd say the Chargers because the Steelers are banged up and the Falcons are playing great these days.

Tom (Simi Valley, CA)

So you're saying that Week 17 might have 8-7 Denver at 7-8 San Diego battling for the AFC West title. The NFL, feel the power!

Bill Williamson
  (2:40 PM)

It's exciting, isn't it?

Matt (NC)

My theory on why the Broncos will win Sunday: The Law of Averages. Ryan is overdue for a couple mistakes.

Bill Williamson
  (2:40 PM)

I can see that.

Ryan (Denver)

Do the math Foxworth on Marshall, MVP day for Marshall and Cutler, even Royal will have a big day. Safe to say this game will one of the highest scoring games of the year?

Bill Williamson
  (2:41 PM)

I talked to Foxworth the other day. He expects his former teammates to come after him. It will be fun to watch.

Will J (Portland, OR)

I know he just signed a huge contract, but is it time for KC to part ways with LJ?

Bill Williamson
  (2:42 PM)

I wouldn't be surprised if that happened after the season.

ray gordon reid MONTGOMERY AL 36117

QUESTION BILL WILLIAMSON AT 2,45 PM hi bill GIANTS OR RAVENS WHO DO YOU LIKE

Bill Williamson
  (2:42 PM)

Good game but the Giants are hard to pick against these days.

Andy (Millersburg, Pa)

Any chance Spencer Larsen plays MLB this week?

Bill Williamson
  (2:43 PM)

I think there is a chance, yes. Not sure if he starts but he could be in the mix.

Casey Chief (MO)

If Thigpen proves to be the guy in KC then don't the Chiefs have to skip QB and address other needs? And if so, what should their top three picks be?

Bill Williamson
  (2:43 PM)

OL, LB, DE

Casey(Wilmington, NC)

Will Champ Bailey play this weekend? from what ive read he has to make improvment in practice. i would say sit him out till the jets game.

Bill Williamson
  (2:44 PM)

He's getting closer but I don't think he's back this week. But he's coming along.

Zach Syracuse, NY

Bill, this weekeend is the Division 3 Cortaca jug matchup between Cortland and Ithaca...who ya got?

Bill Williamson
  (2:45 PM)

You do you want me to have?

Doug, Colorado Springs

If KC did part ways with LJ...could Denver sign him and do you think it would be a good fit?

Bill Williamson
  (2:45 PM)

I could see that working, sure.

Patrick (NYC)

All the writers keep saying they expect the Chiefs to unload TG this offseason. But if the Chiefs start winning and look sas if they might be able to make a playoff push next year isn't that insane? They have a great 1, 2, 3 punch with Bowe, Bradley and Tony now.

Bill Williamson
  (2:47 PM)

I don't think it's the writers creating this. It's the fact that Gonzalez publicly said he wanted to be traded that makes people think he won't be there next season. Perhaps after the season, Gonzalez is inspired to stay.

Casey(Wilmington, NC):

Who do you see having a better career. Cutler or Rivers?

Bill Williamson
  (2:48 PM)

Not a cop out: I think they both will have brilliant careers.

Brett (LA,CA)

Ithaca all the way, it was in Road Trip.

Bill Williamson
  (2:48 PM)

That's all you had to say. You got my vote.

Ryan (Denver)

if the G-men and Titans played right now Who wins? Giants or Titans

Bill Williamson
  (2:49 PM)

Great question. I'd lean with the Giants at this moment.

Casey(Wilmington, NC):

Do you see the Broncos making the playoffs if they win this weekend?

Bill Williamson
  (2:50 PM)

It would go a long way in sending Denver to the playoffs, yes.

Keith (Springfield, MO)

If the Chiefs do let LJ go, I do not want him near the Broncos. He has had off the field issues and the Broncos need guys who will not be having regular meetings with Goddell. The Broncos need more players with the humility and poise like Eddie Royal. I have been very impressed with how he has handled himself professionally as a rookie in the NFL.

Bill Williamson
  (2:52 PM)

You are right. Denver has had its share of, let's say, questionable characters. I know the team's brass is sensitive in who the team brings in these days.Don't think for a minute, Goodell hasn't noticed this,

Will (Madison WI)

could bradley be the answer for the chiefs need for a #2 WR

Bill Williamson
  (2:52 PM)

I think he is right now. He's been a tremendous addition.

Ryan (Denver)

Got to say Bill, I check your postings every day, must be great to do what you do? Football day in and day out!

Bill Williamson
  (2:53 PM)

It isn't bad, my friend, it isn't bad.

Casey(Wilmington, NC):

Could Royal get Rookie of the Year? Even though Matt Ryan is playing out of his mind?

Bill Williamson
  (2:53 PM)

Ryan will be hard to beat at this point.

Matt Linland

Couture or Lesnar?

Bill Williamson
  (2:54 PM)

I know Lesnar a little bit from my Mnnesota days. Good dude.

Darren in LA

Bill, love your work. However, at what point do we stop calling the Chargers "underachievers" and move that term to "failures." There's always excuses for not succeeding. In 2005, their schedule was too tough. In 2006, it was Marty's lack of playoff success. Last year, LT not 100% in the AFC championship game. This year it's Merriman's injury, facing teams coming off a bye week, and having to travel to London. Superior teams overcome these things. This team has massive individual talent yes....but at what point will people realize this just isn't a superior "team"??

Bill Williamson
  (2:54 PM)

excellent point, Darren.

Ryan (Denver)

I know you have to be biased but is there a part of you wanting to see Denver make the playoffs?

Bill Williamson
  (2:55 PM)

Honestly, don't care who wins. I just root for good stories.

Sam(Los Angeles)

I don't think Tony will want to go if this team plays well down the stretch. If Thigpen is the answer at QB, then with one good offseason, remaining needs(RT, RG, DE, MLB) can be filled and this team will ber very young and very talented, and hopefully, Tony will finish his career in KC, as he should. Do you agree Bill?

Bill Williamson
  (2:57 PM)

I think Gonzalez wants to stay but he also wants to win. If he can combine the two, yes, he'd stay. If he sees hope, I can see him staying.

Matthew (NC)

As a Denver fan, I really hate to say this, but I was very impressed with KC last week. They could spoil DEN or SD's season down the stretch.

Bill Williamson
  (2:57 PM)

You should be. This team is coming together.

Vijay (NYC)

Have teams been blitzing the Falcons? Seems like Denver's only chance is to force Ryan into some pics.

Bill Williamson
  (2:58 PM)

The problem, for Denver, is it hasn't had much of a pass rush this season.

Chris (New York, NY)

Are the Chargers' defensive problems more an issue of play calling by the coaches or execution by the players?

Bill Williamson
  (2:59 PM)

Probably a combination of the two. Both coaches and players need to improve in San Diego.

Bill Williamson
  (3:00 PM)

Hey guys, great hour again. Thanks. Enjoy the games. Talk to you next week.
