Good to be chatting. Significant day at Scouts Inc. as we will be releasing our official Under Armour All-America game roster at 4pm and airing a special on ESPNU at 6:30pm EST.
Have there been any big names added to the Under Armour game in recent weeks?
Yes we just added corner CJ Barnett this week. He is the final addition to the roster.
Our No. 5 overall corner, we feel CJ is one of the better underneath zone defenders in this class. Great closing burst and a real physical defender.
How is Illinois class shaping up after finally getting Kraig Appleton? A top 15 come signing day with the Zook closing strong?
I think it will be a lot better than their disappointing fall. Appleton forms one of best WR duos in the country w/ his teammate Hawthorne.
I like what they did on the defensive line with Drummond, Buckner and Carradine as well. Good shot at landing inside the top-20 on signing day -- top-15 might be difficult at this time.
Is there any pressure from All-American games to have recruits wait until the game to commit somewhere?
The guys announcing in our game have come to us and asked. Right now we have Branden Smith, Corey Adams and the trio from Seminole HS.(with more to come) But that could change as we are still a month away.
Thoughts on Kiffin keeping this good Tennessee class together?
Well it sounds like he is already hard at work and bringing a lot of energy to the recruiting trail.
His age helps when it comes to relating to players and he certainly has a reputable background as a coach and top recruiter at USC.
His best recruiting tool may be landing former Ole Miss head coach Ed Orgeron on staff, one of the nation's top recruiters
What are the chances Muschamp pulls in Devon Kennard to Texas?
I originally thought he was a Trojan lean but now feel he is pretty open and putting a lot of weight into his five official visits.
I think it still will come down the USC and Texas, and yes, Muschamp's energy will help.
Do u think Jarvis Giles still might go to Tennessee?
I think he is already comfortable there and it sounds like he has already struck an early relationship with Kiffin -- I would say they have a great shot at this point.
Please dont tell me Frankie Telfort is done with the Irish!!!!
Sorry but it looks like Frankie is down to Florida and USC (announcing on signing day with ESPN) at least as of this past weekend.
I think Weis' future uncertainty took them out of the mix, maybe they will squeeze back in with him staying -- but I doubt it.
Can Russell Shepard lift the Tigers back to the top? Next year?????
I actually think he is so gifted athletically that he will be able step right in and give a boost to the Tigers' offense -- he's a legit gamebreaker with all the physical tools and underrated QB skills
Got to see some of his playoff films this year -- he flat out dominated (in a number of different ways) versus very good competition.
What do you think of the class Georgia Tech has put together thus far?
I really am impressed with the offensive skill they have coming in to that option attack
Guys like Orwin Smith, Demond Dennis and Jemea Thomas are great fits for the B-back and A-back positions
PennState is in need of Wide Outs, do you see them landing any big names this year?
In the mix for Bryce McNeal, a true vertical threat -- better shot with Justin Brown a real physical kid with good speed, great hands and savvy at the position.
Any late blooming DL this year the way Nick Perry came on his senior year last year?
Good scouts question Andrew! Yes, DE Lanford Collins out of Va. Actually has a list of good offers but a kid who not is talked about a lot.
Has good size, utilizes his hands well and is just a very well-rounded DL without a lot of flash to his game. Would be a great fit for Boston College.
CAL seems to be picking up some steam in recruiting lately.. any big names on the horizon?
It sounds like he wants to take his visits but I think Cal has a great shot with DT Deandre Coleman.
Great frame and is really disruptive for his size. Landing corner Steve Williams a few weeks ago was huge lift; Cal currently has a very disappointing class.
It's official that Weis will be back in 2009, but how has the doubt and negative publicity affected ND's current commits and those still considering? Any rumors of possible de-commits?
Weis is staying, but overall I still think there is def. still some uncertainty surrounding the program when a prospect is thinking about the course of his 4 years there.
I think he has sold his current class on sticking but may be difficult to close on any big names down the stretch.
How is Alabama's performance impacted out-of-state recruiting, and what out-of-state recruits do you see Alabama closing with?
The national exposure has certainly helped but Saban does not have to leave the state or Southeast to sign a strong recruiting class.
I like their chances with safety Darren Myles now that in-state Georgia is out of the picture.
Did the Canes hurt their recruiting with the disappointing close to the season or will Shannon come through again?
Shannon and Miami did not finish strong but he has that program headed in the right direction w/ players and recruits believing in his system/philosophy.
I expect UM to close well down the stretch with in-state kids and finish with a top-10 class that will fit a lot of needs particularly at DB
I am a UT fan go big orange do think Tenn.can land Marlon Brown and what does he bring to the table
I think the Kiffin hiring helped UT's chances of getting Brown. Look at what he did with big WRs at USC.
Antwan Lowery...Rutgers or Miami?
Tough one, I would lean toward Rutgers with his brother there. I think their disappointing season has let him slip away a bit though.
HI LB Teo, where do you think he ends up?
I think the cloud over South Bend has hurt their chances although Weis is really recruiting Te'o strong. I would go with USC at this point.
Can Coach Hawk repeat his recruiting performance from last year? Any chance he can lure a big time recruit like he did last year with D. Scott?
Matt they have a very average class at this point with just under 10 commits and no real difference makers
They had a certain buzz about their program last year that is missing this off-season. I think they needed more success on the field this year to land another solid class like in 2008
Nebraska hasn't really landed anyone flashy (other than Cody Green), but it seems like they filled some holes and have a solid all-around class. What say you?
They have certainly filled some holes and improved their DB depth with kids like D. Washington and D Byrd.
Your right its not a real flashy class (No ESPNU 150 prospects) but filled with good "football players" that fit Pelini's mentality and system.
do you think shepard is going to be reshirted next year or is he going to be help LSU as a true freshman
Tim I said earlier I think he will come in and compete for a starting job right away. A special talent to sit on the bench without a real stud ahead of him.
What are Texas cahnces of landing McFarland and/or Kirkpatrick? Any other potential recruits the Horns could land in this class?
I see Kirkpatrick signing with the Tide come February but the Horns have a good shot with McFarland.
Thanks for stopping by and please remember to check out the Under Armour All-America game team roster which will be released shortly!
