Good Morning Sports nation! A few technical difficulties so I apologize for the late start - but here we go...
Obligatory Brandon Jacobs question. I bow to the greatness of Stephania Bell.
Andy: You know I am posting this for Matthew Berry's benefit (for those not in the know - I lost a small wager and had to say that I bowed to MB's greatness on the podcast - a low moment for me...). Jacobs has two knees that are bothering him - and since you only have two, this is a concern for the Giants as they start to think about the postseason. Turns out the left knee was injured originally against Seattle (even though we didn't hear about it at the time) and turns out it's a PCL sprain - nags at him regularly and was aggravated last week. I do NOT expect him to play this week as a result. Good matchup for Ward.
Starphania, it looks like Reggie Bush got injured last night and didn't play much in the second half - any insight on the injury?
John: Haven't heard any specifics yet - but that's not unusual. As soon as I do, I will update.
Hello Stephania! Is Addai going to do us all a favor and sit this week, so Dom Rhodes can get us 20+ against those awful Lions?
Brad: Lots of Rhodes owners asking the question. I would say start Rhodes whether Addai is active or not. Addai hasn't practiced and is banged up. The Colts want to see what he can do today to decide if he's active. If he's NOT active, they have to make a roster move to have 3 backs available - so I would not be surprised to see him active - but limited. Therefore Rhodes likely the #1 in terms ofutilization either way.
Reports that Gore won't play, but Singletary still says it's a GTD. Do I play Miami D against a runless SF team?
Mike: I think Singletary wants to give him every opportunity and a chance to travel to Miami - his hometown. But he has a medial ankle sprain (not good) and all local reports are that he is not looking good. If Deshaun Foster goes, he is not nearly the runner Gore is - but I think SF will still be able to pass the ball decently.
Hey Steph, any update on LenDale's knee? I really need him in good shape for fantasy playoffs...
Bill: He didn't practice Weds or Thurs but I think this is largely a precautionary move. I expect him to play this wk-end, but as always, when a guy hasn't practiced headed into Friday, check the post-Friday practice reports.
Resent since i'm not too sure how this works - Good morning Stephania! Go Niners! With that said... Westbrook and Buckhalter, buckhalter and westbrook... With Buckhalter's return will we see a significant impact on Westbrooks production? I know Westy did not practice but as a Westbrook owner I am used to that by now. My main concerns are the injuries to both and if they will effect The Wizard's performance during my league's playoffs?
Hi Jason: Worked just fine! I don't think Buckhalter will cut into Westbrook. He's (Westbrook) as healthy as he's been all season - this is a big Monday night game -and unless they get up by a ridiculous amount, he'll get the bulk of the work.
Do you think McGahee will get a lot of carries after his injury and minor concussion last week? I have to start either Mclain or M.Moore this week.
Adam: Surprisingly McGahee is not on the injury report - which I did not expect given the stinger of last week, the migraines, etc. I still think McClain is right now the starter. The way the Ravens have used their backs, there is no telling how much they insert McGahee, but if I was forced to pick between the two I'd go McClain - and I think I'd take him over Moore as well.
Stepahania, Much like TO, I am jealous I am being overlooked for other posters. Sat Thomas last night for Portis on Sunday, Give me some good news on Clinton
Darius: It's good to express your feelings - but know that I am a fair chat host and distribute the responses equitably...Ouch for sitting Thomas, but I will say that this time Portis will not be a GTD. He has been practicing all week (first time in months) and his limited use last week may have helped him going into this one. I think he plays all game.
Any update on Pacman's injury and do you think he could be done as an NFL player?
Al: I think it's premature to say he's done as a player, especially since now there's some speculation he could return before the regular season ends. It will be a day-to-day assessment as far as his symptoms go, but ti sounds as if they do not think surgery is indicated. It would make me a little more worried about the next big hit he takes though...
Hi Steph, what is going on with Matt Hasselbeck this week? Do you think Seneca Wallace gets the start again? If so, what do you think his chances are at a repeat of last weeks game? Thanks
JC: I do think Wallace starts. Hasselbeck's back has been acting up again (which shows up as weakness in his leg) and him getting hit all the time does not help. Although it sounded as if there was some speculation that he might be shut down for the season, it now looks as if that won't happen, but it still doesn't look as if he'll be available this week. And I don't think you get a repeat of last week, unfortunately. And yes, I know it's the Rams.
Good moring, Starphania. Thanks for taking our questions yet again! Taking a hint from Andy from Phoenix, I just wanted to bring up the obligatory Marion Barber question. That's all...thanks!
Ryan: Definitely someone everyone wants to know about. at the start of the week, Barber siad his calf felt much better BUT he still hasn't practiced - and it sounds as if straight ahead running is OK but cutting remains a problem. Some are speculating he won't play. I am still of the mindset that he probably does - but his ability to practice today will influence my thinking. If he doesn't go today, I'm far more concerned. He likely comes down to a GTD, but if he can't practice - at all - then his stock drops.
Good morning Stephania! Any word on yet on Forte's injury last night? I know he was able to come back, so I'm assuming nothing too serious? Thanks!!
Derek: Very good deduction by you. The fact that he returned is a good sign and we understand that X-rays are negative. But you also probably noticed that he wasn't as active in the second half as he might have been. Worth keeping an eye on - but at this point doesn't make me think he'll miss time.
Is K. Smith a better option than B. Jacobs at this point?
I decided to drop Kellen Winslow and pick up John Carlson. Did I jump the gun, or is Winslow not coming back?
Brian: Winslow is still in a walking boot so although they haven't ruled him out yet for this week, it is fairly safe to assume he doesn't play. As for whether he returns, still too soon to say - but Carlson is a nice pickup. No regrets.
I'm hearing Jeff Garcia has a new calf injury. How serious is this??
Bailey: Looking a little worse than initially thought. He hasn't practiced and McCown ahs been taking first team snaps. I still think if Garcia can go, Gruden would want him in there, but he's another one that we need to see something Friday. Gruden likes his players to practice Friday so be sure to check the injury report tonight.
Good morning, Stephania! Do you expect Witten to play Sunday night? Should I pick up M. Bennet just in case? Thanks!
Randy: I expect Witten to play. They've been giving him some extra rest with all the abuse he's taken this year. After all, he is supposed to be Romo's favorite, so I can't imagine him not in there for this critical game (all joking aside, yes I think he plays)
Hey Stephania, Any word on Dom. Hixon? Thanks
Rich: Well, early in the week it sounded as if the swelling in his ankle was subsiding compared to how it looked on the weekend. But he hasn't been in practice yet which is always a concern. Hixon's status very much up in the air. If he does play you can expect that he'll be at less than 100% which means they may look to Smith more.
Back to Tom - who somehow didn't get my response posted. My answer was yes on Smith, b/c Jacobs very unlikely to play.
Will Mark Bradley be okay to play this week?
OK Andrew - and apologies to everyone - major technical difficulties locking up my workstation - but I'm back now. Bradley has been practicing more than he has the last 3 weeks but I'm concerned by the dual calf injuries. It looks as if they may have him, but he's still limited by the injuries- - so there are probably better receiver options for you.
Tatum Bell: Does he carry the load with Selvin Young likely out and is he a better play than McClain or MoMorris who will likely share carries??
Rocco: It looks as if the Broncos are going with Bell as the lead back. Even if Young does return this week (which I think he does, he was close to going last week), there's not a whole lot of evidence that they have confidence in him -and he's been out for well over a month. I actually still like McClain over Bell, Morris probably a toss-up.
Stephania, Since Gore is most likely out, I need to play either Hightower or Parker who would you go with?
Is Matthew Berry injured? I noticed that his Love/Hate for Week 15 is still for week 14.
Art: He is - he missed the podcast today due to illness - he is on the injured list...and he's not at work.
Steve Breaston what's the word on his status, he gonna be near 100% fighting through the injury?
Benjie: Well, he won't be near 100%. Rib injuries are tough as we always say b/c it hurts to do everything, even breathe. He has been very limited in practice and at this point is questionable to play. With it being his ribs, I would be concerned about how effective he could be even if he plays.
Whats the latest on Kevin Curtis' concussion, does he play this week? Next week?
Adam: Still not doing anything in practice. I expect him to sit out this week - but we haven't heard of any serious symptoms that would suggest he misses more than that.
What's the latest on MEGATRON's hand?? Is he good to go sunday?
Mike: All signs point towards him playing - and that this is nothing serious. He and Kevin Smith are the only Lions with any fantasy value.
Starphania.. you think it is time to give up on "fragile" willie parker? his schedule stinks and so has he. would you advise a drop for say...kevin smith who has a more favorable schedule? i already have some depth at RB just figured any feature back would be better than anything parkers been offering of late.
I don't necessarily think so, but I will admit that his value has dropped b/c the Steelers are likely going to continue to share the ball between Parker and Moore -although Parker is the starter. That being said, this week is a terrible matchup. I agree. I would even consider Smith over him this week- but not the rest of the way.
Is Matthew Berry droppable at this point in the season?
Jack: In all but the very deepest of leagues....just kidding, of course not - we need the TMR's advice until the bitter end of our fantasy playoffs. He'll be back...
And on that note, I have to run. Thanks for coming today - and apologies for the technical glitches. We'll be back Sunday morning for the latest updates before gametime - 10 a.m. See you then - good luck in Week 15!!!
