Chat with Paul Kuharsky

Paul Kuharsky
  (2:58 PM)

Hi folks, how are we doing? Thanks for coming....

Brent (Nashville)

Nice job to whoever redesigned the site (insert sarcasm identifier). I had to hunt around for a while to find the link here. What gives?

Paul Kuharsky
  (2:59 PM)

Give it some time. It's less cluttered. A meager blogger had zero to do with it, but you can still find us. Please keep looking...

Matt (Columbus, OH)

You mentioned in your blog something like Colts fans think that the Colts have never lost outright. First off, I think all fanbases behave like that after a tough loss. Second, personally as a Colts fan I'm not frustrated with the calls themselves (they were all legit penalties), but I am frustrated with the lack of consistency. On the facemask it is clear that the SD lineman also is grabbing Session's facemask, should've been offsetting penalities. A few plays earlier the SD LT almost ripped Freeney's head off by grabbing his facemask but there was no call. And finally while Jennings did commit holding in the 4thQ Dallas was held on the 3rd and 2 but there was no call. Lack of consistency is what we're complaining about.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:02 PM)

Honestly, comparing four fan bases I deal with, Colts fans complain about officials the most, by far. I find it unbecoming, but understand that much of it trickles down from Bill Polian, who postures to try to get things changed in his team's favor. Understandable. Why would the refs be against the Colts? Don't you think the league would like Peyton Manning in the Super Bowl more often?

TJ (Columbus, OH)

Paul- I again thank facebook for the reminder that this chat was going on. Now let's get down to the question on most peoples minds...How do you think the Titans will fare without Kevin Mawae holding down the center of the line?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:02 PM)

I think Leroy Harris is talented. But the lack of experience is obviously a factor that's going to hurt them. It's survivable, I would expect...

Ryan,RI

Will the Titans finally draft a WR this year?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:03 PM)

Draft one? Yes. Draft one in the first round? Doubt it...

Josh

First Ill give you my top seinfeld quotes before each question: "street toughs took my armoire?!" ok to my question...Do you think the winner of the Titans vs Ravens goes on to the super bowl?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:03 PM)

Probably. I could also see San Diego winning two more.

Tim Harwood,MD

Will the cowboys get a new head coach or stay with Wade Phillips?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:04 PM)

Looks like Jerry is staying true to his word and sticking with master motivator Wade Phillips....

Josh

seinfeld: "I cant believe we're going dancing" girlfriend: "you dont go that often?" seinfeld: "no, because it's so stupid" Why isnt the #1 broadcast team for CBS doing the Titans Ravens game? Is it market size of the cities?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:05 PM)

I think the Sunday afternoon time slot is regarded as better...

Nate (Burns, TN)

Ok the Hall of Fame watch got me to thinking... If Kerry Collins takes the Titans to the superbowl.. he'll be only the second QB to ever take 2 different franchises to the big game. Craig Morton took Dallas and Denver. If Kerry wins one... is that enough for the HoF?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:06 PM)

Enough to be regarded as better than Craig Morton. No way Hall of Famer. You have to be the best of your era. What year of his career did you ever say he was the best QB in the league?

Chris, Kent OH

Do you think Vince Young will ever see the field next season? If so, do you think he will provide a spark or will the Titans be fighting to stay alive in the division?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:07 PM)

I think he gets one more chance to seize the job. I am not sure when -- probably camp. I don't think he'll be able to do it. He's uncuttable and untradeable at this point with his contract....

Adam (Columbia, TN)

Hey Paul, Now you know I enjoy your stuff but the big story you posted today, I have a lil beef with - Nervous Nashville. Cmon man. We are not nervous, we are ready for them to come in here to Nashville and get a TITAN beatdown. It just makes us Tennessee fans look bad and now people will be thinking we are nervous to face the Ravens. Is it still a great rivalry? Yes. Is it time to revenge the 2001 loss? Yes. Are we nervous? NO!!!! Why do you want to make our fan base look bad to the national media???

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:08 PM)

Maybe you're not nervous in Columbia. But I've been around Nashville all week and people are nervous. What city with a playoff team isn't? Read the Hentrich quote again...

Kyle (Dayton)

As a Browns' fan, not too much excitement thinking about the Mangenious Era starting. Who do you think he would favor as his QB, soft throwing Quinn or hard throwing inaccurate Anderson. I may be one of the few Browns fans who prefer Anderson. Can trust a QB who cant throw more then 15 yards.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:09 PM)

Anderson stares down receivers. I like Quinn better. i don't know Mangini well enough to guess, though....

Matt (Columbus, OH)

I don't think the NFL and the refs are out to get the Colts, but to act as a "typical Colts fan" what about the inconsistency between what was a penalty during regulation and what was a penalty in OT?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:11 PM)

I think you have to let it go. How's Crean doing? Have you checked in on the Pacers? What LT, WR, DTs are best fits in the draft? I'm not taking a shot, I'm saying five days later and still complaining about the calls seems kind of sad...

Josh

Would it shock you if its a blow out on either side on saturday?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:11 PM)

Yes. If it's 10 points that will be big, I think...

Kev (NYC)

Which 4 teams advance?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:13 PM)

You'll notice I am not picking games. I have the freedom not to here and I think it helps me be better at my job. I am not rooting for a result that will make my pick correct. I think the Titans are a better team. I think the Ravens have potential to blow that up with big plays. We have like 12 guys that make predictions....

Jason (Jonesboro,AR)

Who do the Lions draft with the first pick? Or should they trade it away to get more players?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:14 PM)

Hard to trade, no one wants to part with what it could cost. If they could, they should. I'd like for them to take a sure thing -- lineman maybe -- rather than risk it all on a QB...

Ryan (Fort Worth)

On a scale of 1-10, 1 being not at all and 10 being a shoe-in, what are the Cardinals chances of getting through the weekend with a win.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:15 PM)

Four. I am not as in love with Carolina as everyone seems to be. But Cards on the road have given little reason for anyone to jump on bandwagon...

Rick-Lowell, MA

Be honest, what were your thoughts on Gholston coming into the season? I followed the draft and the off season workouts, and while some said they worried hat he wasn't worth the hype, people were talking that he was maybe not a top 5 pick, but definitely a top 15. Now that he stunk the place up, people are pointing out what a terrible mistake the Jets made, saying that "many teams" had him ranked as a 2nd rounder. WAT? I hate the Jets as much as the next Pats fan, but Gholston was loved by many, liked by all, and nobody was talking 2nd round.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:16 PM)

I'm not a huge draft guy, but from what I'd heard and read I thought he'd be an impact guy from the start. I saw that second rounder thing too, and I don't know if I buy it...

Cooter, Fairview

Do you think that Vandebosh will be full strength on Saturday for the Titans?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:17 PM)

Not full strength, but good enough to make some plays. He's feeling good, he's fired up...

Kevin (Kinder,La)

I was nervous as hell but I'm not in Nashville, then the more I think about it. The Titans played very poor in the first meeting and still won. I think the Titans will be fine. Now, Do you think Fisher told Mawae to backtrack on ruling himself out, I anticipate Leroy Harris seeing some exotic things sunday.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:18 PM)

Would have been tough for Fisher to chime in after the radio interview started. I think Kevin was protecting himself and did it pretty smoothly. Minimized expectation, and if he plays he's semi-heroic...

Eric ( Mt. Juliet, TN )

How do you see the future playing out for Titan RB Chris Henry? When is it time to start calling him a bust?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:19 PM)

He'll get cut at the end of camp next year. Resurface once, get six weeks somewhere and then be done. Great kid. Not an NFL running back, I don't think...

JB (TX)

So for everyone pointing to the '01 loss, are they forgetting the Titans beat the Ravens in the '03 playoffs at Baltimore. I know it's a completely different team, but clearly that is over for the current players. I'm just sayin...

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:20 PM)

Titans weren't No. 1 seed playing at home against Wild Card Baltimore...

Rich (Thousand Oaks, CA)

With Nashville now a decade into it's NFL experiment, what has surprised you most about the city's reaction and support of your Tennessee Titans. The fans strike me as die hard and the team is about to deliver what we have craved since the Music City Miracle year!!!

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:22 PM)

Fans claim to be die hard, and like for the stadium to have a reputation as rowdy, which it was early on. (And a good percentage of the fans are great ones, of course.) But the place has quieted down and people are willing to sell their tickets to Steelers and Ravens fans. Think that happens in Green Bay or Pittsburgh or with the Giants?

Joey (Rochester, New York)

Do you think this is the game where the Titans use a Colts Blueprint and come out using a no-huddle passing attack the first couple drives, using Chris Johnson more as a receiver as well? Being that when the Ravens are spread out that's when they are the weakest and it worked for Manning and again with Collins on the last few drives.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:23 PM)

I don't think they want to speed things up. I think they are fine keeping the tempo slow...

DJ, Chicago

Do you think the Titans will work out a deal with Haynseworth? If not where will he land?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:23 PM)

If he gets to Feb. 27 I think he's gone. Atlanta and Denver will be among the suitors, is what you hear. I think Houston should chase him...

Rob (Fort Myers)

PK...do you think the loss of a day of rest for the Ravens plays a factor in this game?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:24 PM)

I think the unbalance in rest is a factor. Ravens haven't rested since Week 2 and Titans are fresh as can be....

Brandon (Minnesota)

Is tony dungy gone or will he return?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:25 PM)

Nobody can pretend to know. I won't be surprised either way. But I would think he'd like to try to finish better....

Kevin (Houston)

Why would Houston chase haynesworth, a guy that bragged about hurting Matt Schaub and called the Texans every bad name in the book...

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:26 PM)

Because he could alter the face of the defense and hurt other quarterbacks?

Aaron (Nashville)

In defense of fans in Nashville, that's what happens when the PR department makes monumental errors. Salary cap purges where you lose the bulk of your offensive talent, unceremoniously ushering out guys like Eddie George, the awful end to McNair, and above all Pacman...I still go to all the games, but it's understandable seeing the results with such a young franchise. How long before the club section empties on Saturday?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:27 PM)

Why were you upset with the Eddie departure? They cut him at just the right time, and he was demanding a lot of money for 3 yards a carry.

Matt (Huntsville)

Who do you think the Titans Front Office is rooting for, Pittsburgh or San Diego?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:27 PM)

San Diego...

Joe (Columbia, md)

As a Steelers fan, I'd rather play the Titans again than try to beat the Ravens three times, which everyone says is basically impossible. Am I correct in my thinking?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:28 PM)

I think so. Don't know that you beat SD better yet Titans or Ravens. But you want the Ravens to win because then you'd host the AFC Championship...

Scott (CT)

How big do you think this game is in terms of Jeff Fisher's legacy?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:28 PM)

I think this season is huge for it, so this game is huge for it...

Xander (Philly)

Why not Haynesworth to the Bills if he leaves? They have the money to throw at him.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:29 PM)

Money overcomes anything, but I can't see him going North...

Ali (London)

Hey Paul - Ali from DB here. Hope all is well and keep up the great work with ESPN. Do you think Collins can go the game without being intercepted by Reed? Do you think we will see a lot of Scaife and Hall in the passing game to combat Reed?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:30 PM)

Hey bud, where've you been? I think a lot of Scaife, yeah. I think Kerry will throw a lot of balls away, and you might think he's being too careful...

phil (buffalo)

if the 49ers beat the bills in the regular season and the have the same record why des san fran pick before them in the draft

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:31 PM)

If they have the same record, head to head has nothing to do with draft order. The team that played a weaker schedule goes in front on a tie-breaker...

Pete - Finksburg

I'm convinced the Ravens will win by at least 2 touchdowns - no problem. Am I nuts?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:32 PM)

You watched the Ravens look good on Sunday and didn't see the Titans, who were resting. Which made you forget they are good too. I mean you think Flacco somehow torches this defense?

Rick (Nashville)

I live in Nashville, and yeah, I'm nervous. Now that the playoffs are here, would you want to speculate if Dinger is going show us show us some major wrinkles, or just minor ones.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:33 PM)

Thanks for the support Rick. They do what they do, you know? Little wrinkles, yeah. But they aren't going to unveil some new and hugely surprising stuff....

Anthony, Nashville

The playoffs are always a time when an unsung hero comes out and has a good or great game to help his team win. Last week was E. James and D. Sproles. So for the Ravens-Titans game, who do you see that being for both teams?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:34 PM)

I think in a game where all the hype has been Reed, something big could happen for Griffin...

Eric ( Mt. Juliet, TN )

How do you see the AFC South next year? I, just like everyone else, that Jacksonville would be in the hunt this year. Now it looks like they are in shambles and Houston is beginning to come on. Does Houston finally get over the mediocre hump and get into the race for the division title?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:36 PM)

Titans and Colts fight for the top, loser is a Wild Card, Houston is in the Wild Card hunt. Jaguars need more than a year to get back to competitive...

robert nashville, tn

ref your comment about titans fans selling tickets. i checked ebay this morning and looks like titans fans are not the only ones unloading. steeler fans had 231 tickets for sale, giants showed 347, and carolina 129. are all of these fan bases apathetic or is it just the nature of the beast! "not that there's anything wrong with that"

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:38 PM)

Wycheck counted over 9,000 on sale for this game. Probably a lot of overlap, but still...

Mitchell (STL)

Will the Titans resign Collins? Will he command too much money?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:39 PM)

I don't think he's in position to command much -- he's not going to find a better situation. No one is going to sign a 35 year old QB and say 'You are our unquestioned starter...'

Daniel (Pontiac, MI)

Who do you think factors more in the running game for the Titans this week? Johnson with his speed, or White with his power? (or niether, which I wish wasn't an option)

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:40 PM)

I think LenDale will be a non factor, unless the Titans are trying to milk clock late. They may give him the ball, but I don't see him getting yards. He could score, though, if they hand it to him at the goal line....

Steiny (NYC)

Hi Paul, how are you today?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:41 PM)

Great bud, thanks for asking, thanks for coming...

Seth (Denver, CO)

Paul: Do you like football? You seem to relish in the hyper-criticism of sports journalism rather than simply enjoying the game of football. Maybe you should start channeling more Peter King and Peter Gammons and less Dan Rather and Geraldo Rivera. I'm not trying to be mean, I just feel like I've been scolded too many times after reading your stuff.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:42 PM)

Interesting point which I will ponder. I am certainly cynical. But I love NFL games, love being at and getting to comment on a game like Saturday's...

Rob (Fort Myers)

PK...now that some of the offseason coaching hires are taking place, what are the chances that Schwartz remains with the Titans? It appears that the Jets are waiting for Spags, but if the Titans win this game, could the timing of things keep Schwartz in Nashville?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:44 PM)

I am wondering if Schwartz isn't big for St. Louis still. But yes, his name hasn't been out there as much as we might have expected when all these jobs opened. Could change the second they lose or right after they win AFC title game when that week window would open....

Curt: (Birmingham, AL)

not seeing questions posted, What do you think of Pitt chances with them saying LT is definely out for SD

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:45 PM)

I think SD can win with Sproles. In fact, I just saw it happen last week...

Jason (Ravens Nation)

Thoughts on Flacco long term...

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:45 PM)

Very good. Clayton likens him to Big Ben...

Rob (Fort Myers)

You referred to VY's contract as un-cuttable and un-tradeable. Peter King had a report earlier in the season that his contract was very cuttable. He even suggesting that he had several million dollars in option monies later in his contract, so the Titans could cut him after next training camp with very little penalty. Which PK is right? Paul Kuharsky, or Peter King?!?!

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:46 PM)

Rob, I pledge to dig into this soon and do a blog entry on it. There has to be significant acceleration in either scenario, but the other PK knows his stuff. Making a reminder note right now...

JL (Hoboken, NJ)

As a heads up, according to the Chicago Manual of Style, an ellipsis at the end of a sentence with no sentence following should be followed by a period. Just some food for thought....

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:47 PM)

So that's three plus one.... Like so? That's a big change for me!

Blair (Nashville, TN)

Hi! I like your sarcastic style, I wouldn't like reading your blog if you were like Peter King. Anyway, do you see the Titans coming out on Saturday as focused as they were against the Steelers?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:48 PM)

I don't think focus will be a problem, and I'd be surprised if they are flat. But they do start slow on offense and that won't be a good thing here...

Daniel (Pontiac, MI)

I'm a Titans fan in need of some reassurance that my team has the upper-hand against these Ravens. It seems every preview or pre-game report I've read has the Ravens predicted to win. Do you think this is simply because Tennessee has little "flash", or is the Ravens D just so much better that it completely negates the clear mismatch in offenses?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:48 PM)

I think it's because everyone watched the Ravens play in Miami and haven't seen the Titans since the Pitty game...

Jeff (Kentucky)

Who do you see the Broncos hiring as their next head coach?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:50 PM)

I can't pretend to tell any of you who's getting hired for any of these open jobs, I'm not covering any of them. I can tell you I think Schwartz is a good candidate. I can tell you I am glad I still haven't covered a coaching vacancy in my career. (Thank you Wayne Weaver for that big JDR contract....)

Eric (Wausau WI)

Do you think the Pack will have another 13-3 year next season and if they finish with a .500 record or worse, who do you see leaving GB, Coach McCarthy, Ted Thompson, or both.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:51 PM)

I think they'll recover. I was very surprised they were so bad. After the Colts game, I wouldn't have been surprised if they went to the title game. Their division stinks, they can get to the top...

Erik : (Salt Lake City, UT)

Paul I agree with you that Payton Manning should not give back his MVP award but how about changing the award? Instead of MVP it should say MVQB. This was the year to pick a defensive player and still a quarterback gets taken, whats up with that?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:52 PM)

Yeah, I don't know that a defender will ever do better than Defensive Player of the Year again. It's been what, 22 years?

Eric ( Mt. Juliet, TN )

Rob Bironas has been an important part to the Titans, just like many kickers in their past. Is he under contract for next year?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:53 PM)

He is not, he is heading for free agency. I sense he has unrealistic expectations and they Titans may let him get to free agency and explore, hoping those expectations adjust in their favor with the market....

Daniel, Dallas, TX

How did the Ravens prevent the Titans from getting a sack last time and how did they rush for over 140 yards against us?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:54 PM)

Flacco isn't afraid to throw the ball away, like Collins. Don't look for great completion percentages here...

Rob (Fort Myers)

PK, thanks for checking on the VY contract. Seeing as though he hired a questionable agent, I would think the Titans may have the upper hand there! As for another question, do you think that Mike Munchak is the most under-rated assistant coach in the league? When is the last O-lineman drafted by the Titans that was an all out bust? All these pundits that are saying the Mawae injury will cost the Titans this game...they just haven't watched Titans games in the past. When a player goes down, Munch always has the replacement ready.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:55 PM)

Rob, for how well you know me, do you think the under-rated angle is best to take? I think everyone in the know knows Munch is excellent. And you're right, he could have Harris ready for a big moment...

Jason (Bmore)

As a noted Steelers hater Paulie, what gives?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:56 PM)

Hater? I love Tomlin. I think they are the model organization in the league. I just don't think their o-line is very good this year....

Mike (AZ)

Hi Paul, keep up the cynicism...you think the same as I do! What do you think about everyone calling the Cardinals vs Carolina game over before it starts?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:59 PM)

I think when there is such a unanimous sentiment, you often get the opposite. I'm not as down on Arizona as everyone and I am not as up on Carolina as everyone. Still Panthers probably win...

Daniel (Pontiac, MI)

Titans-Ravens game is decided by a field goal that was kicked midway through the 3rd quarter. True or False?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:59 PM)

False. Later than that...

Chris (Murfreesboro)

I'm not really buying into all of the economic hardships people may be facing when they decide to sell their tickets online to possible Ravens fans because people are buying new tvs.. restaurants are packed.. what I think PSL owners should do, if they are TRUE fans - they should give me all of their tickets, and I'll hand them out to everyone I know who really CAN'T afford to goto the game and we'll be the 12th man. WE won't sit up in the box and talk to our friends while a game is going on in the background on little 27" tvs...

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:59 PM)

Very charitable of you....!

Nate (Burns, TN)

Thanks Paul... I know I can be a pain... but I really appreciate your work. You consistently have the best chats. Thanks again Chief....

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:59 PM)

Right back at you Chief...

Rob (Fort Myers)

Touche! Do you think you are the most under-rated blogger on the ESPN network?!?! LOL

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:00 PM)

Are the ratings out? I haven't seen them. I just want to be the best blogger I can be. I am motivated by the fact they hired me and pay me every two weeks...

Phillip in Brentwood

I just don't get Springsteen. What is the big deal?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:01 PM)

See him live. See what a concert can be. Then get back to me...

Justin (the Boro)

I think Ed Reed's streak ends Saturday. I just don't see Collins throwing it all over the yard. He's pretty safe with the football. I don't think we have to game plan for Reed because we already play with a lot of ball safety. What say you?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:01 PM)

I think he's going to be a even a little more careful. Reed shouldn't get a pick...

Todd (Pitt PA)

Hey Paul, if I'm Tomlin and there's any chance of this SD punter pinning me deep like he did vs Indy, shouldn't I just send everyone in to block the punt? You know, neutralize the guy, kind of like teams kicking away from Hester. Thoughts?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:02 PM)

I like it. I'd like to see stuff like that more often. And maybe Tomlin is more willing to try it some where along the way....

Bradd (Rochester, NY)

Kerry Collins gets through the game with NO INT's. True of False?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:03 PM)

I think none or one...

Terence Fails (Nashville)

At practice this week, does Fisher have a WR spewing vile crap at Finny non-stop? My nightmare is an ill times 15 yd penalty.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:03 PM)

I don't see practice. But I doubt it. I think Fin can control himself....

Mike (AZ)

Do you think ESPN will start doing Dallas Cowboys channel? I know they are Americas team, but its getting ridiculous. How about covering the teams still in the playoffs!

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:05 PM)

That's way over my pay grade. But it would get good ratings...

Phillip in Brentwood

Remember how Humdinger duped RayRay with the look-off TD to Scaife at the goalline in the first game? I think he revels at this chess match. In what way might he be able to use Reed's aggressiveness against him?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:07 PM)

Most good coaches do like the chess match. They have to look for ways to use the aggressiveness against them, but the Ravens will be on the lookout for such things and ready to counter. And the speed chess is on...

Shawn (New Mexico)

This may have been asked already, but do you think the Titans can go all the way without a marquee wide receiver?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:08 PM)

Yes. I'm not saying they are the Patriots, but the Patriots did it. The Ravens did it...

Titandogg83 (Balt., MD)

Today marks the 9-year anniversary of the Music City Miracle. Share your memory.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:09 PM)

I will post on it later, I hope you'll click on the AFC South blog...

Chris Knoxville, TN

Hey PK, I'm a younger Titans fan and seeing as I'm a college students I don't have the time or money to get to Titans games often. I did get to go to the Browns/Titans game a few weeks back and I was shocked at how uninterested the crowd seemed to be other than a few sections. I root hard for the Titans and was angered by a fellow fan who actually told me to sit down during the game. I'm fortunate enough to get to go to the game this week. Do you think with it being such a big playoff game that the crowd will look more like the Titans fans of old?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:10 PM)

One can hope. Rally your section. Have fun...

Rob (Fort Myers)

PK...since you don't pick NFL games, care to pick a winner in tonight's game???

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:10 PM)

Florida. Though this could be like Arizona-Carolina....

Nate (Burns, TN)

Why do people think WR is such a critical position? The Titans are 13-3 without one... the Cowboys have 2 of the best in the league and suck.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:11 PM)

Gold star to Nate...

dave nj

paul, do you see marvin harrison retiring and the colts drafting a WR in the draft?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:11 PM)

I don't think he retires unless he gets cut and can't get picked up. I do think the Colts will draft a WR...

Nate (Burns, TN)

Who's covering the overtime?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:12 PM)

I am a giver...

Daniel (Pontiac, MI)

Should the Titans fear Baltimore's "Big" running formation? It seemed to work well for McClain in the game earlier in the season. If so, how do you think it should be counteracted?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:13 PM)

If they've only got one WR, then go four backers with Fowler or Allred...

Dave (Dallas)

Paul, simple answer for a simple question - who will win on Saturday?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:15 PM)

Sorry to disappoint, but I'm not asked to pick games in this role and it helps me do a better job to steer clear of picks in almost every instance....

Mortimer (Gallatin, TN)

Hey Paul, is the bad blood still there for this game?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:16 PM)

Mort! Certainly with coaches and the few guys left, but it's organizational more than it's team, if you know what I mean....

Rob (Fort Myers)

The Patriots have THE BEST WR, and they don't suck! I was on board with the "Titans need a big time WR" group, but Chris Johnson has totally changed the dynamic of that offense. It goes to show you that you just need a dynamic talent. Rienfeldt can surround CJ with a variety of Vincent Jackson's and Chris Chambers', and the Titans offense will be just fine...so long as CJ stays healthy.

Did the Pats have the best WR when they won their first Super Bowl?

Jahon (San Diego)

What do you think of the Texans interview Marinelli? Do you think he is a good fit for D Line or D Coordinator?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:17 PM)

I think he can be a very good D-line coach. I think Kubiak can do better at coordinator....

Felix (Cleveland)

Does Eddie George belong in the HOF?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:18 PM)

No. You have to be clear-cut the best or one of the best players at your position in your era. Was he? Great player, great guy. Not a Hall of Famer...

dave,nj

ok i have to ask,are you related to the referee don kuharsky of the nhl? just wondering?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:18 PM)

He's Koharski, I'm Kuharsky. But I do like donuts....

Mike (AZ)

What do you think of the new trend in the NFL to play coach roulette every few seasons? Is it wise to give a coach a year or 2 then fire them if they don't win the superbowl?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:19 PM)

I prefer Steelers/Titans/ Colts style stability...

Mike (Philly)

Did it seem to you that the Manning's great play in the second half hid the fact from everyone that the Colts pulled out several bizarre wins this year? Could have lost several more... Think they take a step back next year?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:19 PM)

No. I think they draft well, fill holes, get healthy and are right where they usually are....

Paul Kuharsky

Well folks, I suppose I should return to blogging. Anyone want to transcribe some tape for me?

Paul Kuharsky

You've been a great crowd. Though I thought we'd get to more scandals and animals...

Paul Kuharsky

See you next week -- we'll either wrap the season up or preview the AFC Championship Game... Hit the mailbag anytime...

PaulieP (Scottsdale)

What do you think of 2010's coaching availability? Holmgren, Cowher, Shanahan, three possible hall of famers all up for grabs.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:22 PM)

Pretty good. Wonder how dumb it will make some owners...

Justin (NY, NY)

I have to disagree with you. When you look at what Eddie George did, and HAD TO DO for his team, the fact that he literally carried them for 8 years, and was considered one of the best RB's in football for most of them, he belongs in the HOF. Plenty of RB's can put up big numbers in a high-octane offense. But not many can be asked to carry the ball 400 times each year, against 8 in the box because your WR's are Kevin Dyson and Tyrone Calico, and still be productive.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:23 PM)

Seriously, he does not have a chance. You don't get into the Hall of Fame because your receivers were Dyson and Calico...
