Hello folks. What's on your mind today?
Does Hendrick give Stewart Hass the exact same equipment that Hendricks drivers race with?
They say they do, but they don't give it to them. They lease it to them.
Matt Kenseth claimed the car didn't sound right from the time they unloaded it. Why didnt he just change the engine after a practice session and start the race at the back of the field? Surely the engine would have lasted farther than 7 laps. Nice start to the season by Reutimann I think he is going to win a race this year.
I'm sure they checked it and felt it was OK. Just bad luck, But these engines are having a hard time lasting with the increased RPMs.
Terry. Jack Roush tried to blame Goodyear for his engine problems, how much merit does this claim have?
A little, but he isn't really blaming except to say the tire was so good it increased engine power. RFR should have accounted for that.
Who is the driver to beat this weekend? Maybe Carl? Also, who is your sleeper pick?
I'd go with Kyle,
In my opinion, this engine issue is unacceptable. I understand teams are trying to get the most out of what they have with this new car, but all these failures is just insane. In my mind teams have to know how far they can push the limit. I cant even name all the drivers that had engine issues on sunday. As a matter of fact i think the only Roush car that didnt have any engine trouble was Jamie McMurray. And i know my driver did (tony stewart), that's why he finished 26th instead of in the top 10.
Two things are happening here. Engine RPMs are up about 3% because the cars are getting better and the tires are better. And no testing means they have to figure this out at the track. Three percent doesn't sound like much, but 250 more RPMs can be the different between winning and blowing up.
Have you heard of anything Hendrick is doing anything about getting Dale Jr to race more focused
What can they do? Get him a shrink? Junior did a good job Sunday and making up for the pit mistake and finishing 10th.
Do you see Jeff Gordon winning one of the next three races? His 1.5 mile cars seem to finally be strong and he has the two short tracks to fall back on after ATL.
Wouldn't surprise me a bit. In fact, I'd be surprised if he doesn't win one of the next three.
is reed falling into the path he followed last year
Too early to tell, but he's bringing up the rear right now at RPM.
Sleeper pick for the weekend - David Reutimann MWR has the 1.5 mile track figured out. If there had not been the last 2 cautin flags Reutimann could have been the winner in Vegas.
Let's not get carried away. David is running well and MWR is much improved. But winning at Atlanta might be a stretch
will reed ever make the chase
Ever is a long time, but he may not get many more chances if he doesn't show significant improvement soon.
Has the slump by Dale Jr. been just that--a slump? Or is it time to admit he's on the downturn for good?
I think it's time to seriously consider a shake-up for the 88 team if they don't compete for wins in the next few weeks.
We didnt change the engine because we didnt know it was the engine
OK fake Matt. We'll take your word for it.
Do you think Mark Martin is out of the chase?
Absolutely not. It's only three races. We still have 23 to go before the Chase. A lot of things are going to change. Mark has run well but they blew two engines. That's not going to continue.
what will happen first reed makes chase or something within the organization
Wow. Lot's of Reed fans today. He isn't making the Chase anytime soon. so you can figure it out.
Is NASCAR going to start running the Mustang,Camaro,Challenger body style?
They have abandoned that idea for now.
Since the 500, things haven't looked too good for RPM. What's going on over there? You have to feel bad, especially for Sadler and Dinger who both have a lot to prove this year.
Did you really expect them to contend? They're still doing better than I expected. Hopefully Dinger will find a sponsor and get to run the full sked.
Can Jr. win this weekend?
Yes he can. He likes Atlanta. But do I expect him to win. No.
To further jump off what Darryl in Stamford mentioned, it seems Jr's focus isnt the same since the switch. In many of his interviews he seems distant. His responses are very short and he pauses alot like he isnt sure where he is. Do you think he has lost the passion for the sport he showed so much from years past? is there too much pressure for even him to handle?
Jr certainly has plenty of prssure on him, but his interviews sometimes don't come off well because he has more of them than anyone else. Everything he does is magnied and it gets old. But I'm starting to doubt whether he and Eury Jr. should stay together.
DOES KASEY KAHNE MAKE THE CHASE
I'll guess no, but he has a shot.
Where is roushs 5th team going next year?
I said RCR signing Mears was a bad idea. What was Richard seeing that the rest of us is not?
Do you think that Rockingham will ever see any cup racing again?
Not happening. But maybe a NW or Trucks race.
3 races in the books. I ask the following question because you may see some underlying stuff creeping up that we may not yet see; so what 1 or 2 or 3 things have caught your eye, that we should be tracking for the next several races?
How the teams solve the engine problems. Whether MWR, and Reutimamnn specifically, can stay in contention. And how long it takes Hendrick to get it other three drivers back up near the top of the standings.
If things don't improve soon at EGR where do you think Martin Truex Jr might drive next year?
Stewary Haas Racing would be my first guess.
Has there been any mention which of the 5 roush teams will make the move? obviously the 16, 17, and 99 are probably safe.
Unless something surprising happens, it will be McMurray.
What do you think of Joey Logano's performance so far? And what is your expectaions for him? I think he's a great kid, and will be a winner soon.
Logano will be a winner in Cup, but it may take a year. The expectations are for him to continue to learn and post top 20 finishes. Anything beyond that is a bonus.
What do you think of David Ragan. I am shocked that he hasnt won yet. How long do you think it will take him to get to victory lane?
Not long. But you can't win if you engine breaks down.
What wrong with EGR? do you think truex has a chance at even being competive
He has a chance to run well at some events, but he isn't going to compete for the championship at EGR.
At what point does Rick Hendrick step in and separate Dale Jr. and Eury Jr.? As much as they claim to be a cohesive unit, on track performance just isn't there. I don't see Tony Jr. really grasping the new car and changes needed to make a winning run...
If they aren't in the top 10 at midseason, a change might come.
whats wrong with Jimmie?
Nothing. The 48 team will be fine. Just give it a few weeks. But that fourth consecutive championship isn't going to come easily, if at all,
With Kyle being in the spotlight winning in all 3 series, do you think he will really toss all his stock car success out the door for a ride in the USF1 team??
No. And I have my doubts that the US team will ever come to fruition.
if the 20 car misses races u think we would see a driver change?
Absolutely not. Joey is there to stay.
Have you notice anything in the past 3 races that is attributed to the No Testing before Daytona?
Check out the videos of Junior last year just after he switched teams and won the Budwiser Shoot out....Jr had the eye of the tiger To borrow a line from rocky.... he does not have that look any more like something is really up. And I wouldnt be so quick to pawn his problems off on Tony Jr. He is one of the best Crew chiefs in the business.
It isn't that Tony can't get the job done. He can. But I think both of them would be better off working with somoene else.
Will Smoke make the Chase?
I didn't think he would before the season began, but now I think's he has a great shot at it. But his teammate is really struggling.
Do you think Bobby Labonte will stay hot? Atlanta used to be one of his best tracks.
Bobby loved AMS an the Yates horsepower should help him, but Vegas was a weird race and I'm not ready to say the 96 is a true contender just yet.
Are you more surprised at Clint Bowyers success or Casey Mears lack of success this season?
Yes I am, not so much on the Mears side, but I thought Clint might struggle early with a new team. They are one of the big surprises so far.
Do any of the drivers use a sports psychologist?
Some have in th past, including Tony Stewart, but I don't know of any doing it right now.
Can Mark Martin bounce back from his stumbles and make himself a serious contender or will he likely hope for one last win?
Martin wil be fine. I still expect him to make the Chase.
Do you think that Brad Keselowski has a future in the Sprint Cup series or will he like so many others before him eventually become "the 4th" of the 4 Hendrick cars?
DO YOU THINK jR WILL WHEN A RACE THIS YEAR OR EVEN WIN THE CUP
He will win a race or two. I don't see him winning the title this year.
Do you think Jeff Gordon is back to championship form?
He certainly things so, but there's a long way to go. I will say that Jeff is more determined this year than I've ever seen him.
What are the long term plans for the 5 car? I know Mark Martin is in it for this season and I think next? Is there any insight into who's coming down the line to fill that car beyond 2010?
Keselowski is the obvious choice, but nothing is etched in stone. Wouldn't shock me to see Truex end up in that car.
are you impressed with the lack of penalties being handed out over the first 3 races unlike years past? do you think everyone got the message on the COT or is being much more creative in their "changes" to the car?
That was one of the goals of the COT. Crew chiefs are scared straight, but there also isn't many things you can change on these cars.
Do you think that I have a chance to make it it in the Sprint Cup series or should I go to the US F1 team instead?
Stick it out fake Scott. You have a chance to make this work, but you'll run in the back for sure on the US F1 team, if it ever takes the track.
Who did Joe Gibbs get to coach Kyle on how to conduct an interview with the media? He's not nearly as pigheaded as he used to be on camera.
His PR team, specifically Bill Janitz and Joe Crowley (two of the best in the business) have worked closely with Kyle and really helped him
How many races do you think Jeff Gordon will win this year? and in what group do you see him finish at the end of the season? (1-5) (6-10) (lower)
Three wins and top 5 inthe standings.
Which dodge team will have a better year, Penske or RPM? And will it be the last year we see Dodges?
Gotta run folks. Really enjoyed it today. I'm out. Peace.
