Chat with Paul Kuharsky

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:00 PM)

Greetings folks. I understand there may be some glitches with this new chat tool, so I ask for your patience and understanding with those. On the blog today, you'll find video of the VY interview, a little Jags' roster news, Grossman heading to Houston for a physical and a column on Torry Holt.I need a mailbag entry for the weekend and have minimal mail, so please hit up the mailbag. And feel free to friend me on facebook at "Paul Kuharsky Espn" (please don't forget the Espn part) and/or sign up to follow the blog via Twitter -- the link for that is on the right of the blog page.Onward...

Terry (Bowling Green)

Have the Titan's adequately addressed the loss of Albert Haynesworth?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:01 PM)

I think so. Pretty good and deep group, but no one of his caliber. They weren't surprised to lose him, and addressed it a year ago with Jones, and this year with Haye and Marks.

Josh (Amarillo, TX)

Hello Paul, with the emergence of Leroy Harris, and with Kevin Mawae getting much older, do you not think that Leroy should fill in for Mawae when the coaching staff realizes Kevin is just getting bullied every other play. I mean, his communication and blitz picking-up in the pass game is unquestioned and extremely important but his run-blocking and constantly getting man-handled by big nose-tackles just isn't going to cut it, is it? I doubt he will get any better, only worse with his age. I think Leroy needs to get better at his snaps and pass blocking and calling protection, but that is fixable and he can definately hold his own in the run game. Agree/Disagree?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:03 PM)

Would Harris be stronger and better st some things? Sure.Would Fisher bench a healthy veteran with Mawae's resume? No way.

Blake (bay city, texas)

realistically what do you think the chances of the texans making the playoffs are

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:04 PM)

Nineteen-point-four percent.

Zach ((Lewisburg, TN))

Paul next week is a big week for Titan's Charity events! You have the Cortland Finnegan ARK31 Golf Tourney, Jeff Fisher's Roast for Charity, and his Softball Tourney. Will you be attending any of these events? Also, do you have any advice for a Novice Golfer like myself?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:05 PM)

Be willing to lose several sleeves of balls in exchange for not slowing play down. That's what I do.I may be on a video at the roast. I'll be in Houston first half of next week,

David (Jacksonville, Florida)

After watching David Garrard in OTA's and how he struggled to throw the ball dwon the field, is he the right QB to lead the Jags ? I wonder because his passing was not a big factor in 05 and 06 when he played. The defense and running game were very solid. In 07 the Jags ran very well and the play action passes were open most of the year. Thanks Paul. I am sending this question early but I will have my laptop on at work to follow the chat.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:07 PM)

I think they can win with him without connecting on a lot of deep stuff down the sideline. But I'd rather have a quarterback that can do what he does, plus make those throws.

John (Tx)

What Texans player are you most looking forward talking to this upcoming week and why?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:07 PM)

I always enjoy Eric Winston. But my list will be long.

TJ (Ft. Myers)

After the Colts won the SB in '06, I told my buddies not to be surprised if the Colts win 3 of the next 5 SBs. Statistically, I can still be right, but many distinguished panelists on nfl.com and espn.com have pretty written the Colts off as a serious contender. Washed up, too old, too late. You were just in Indy for the OTA's: what's your opinion. Are they washed up, or is there still enough in their tank to make me a psychic?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:10 PM)

They are going to be in the mix as long as Peyton is Peyton. He will be this year.I know they are young overall, but it's not slanderous to think some guys are maybe getting to the point where they won't get better and may start, ever slightly, to decline. And last year I asked if people thought young guys like Joseph Addai and Tony Ugoh had played their best football already. Maybe they had?I see the Colts in the playoffs, contending for the Super Bowl, with a couple teams on a tier below Pittsburgh and New England.

Ed (Jonesboro, AR)

Does VY understand why the coaches chose to sit him? Is his desire to start stemming from a belief that he has overcome his difficulties with reading coverages and applying the weekly gameplan or does he truly not understand why he's second to KC?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:11 PM)

I don't think he really understands, and I believe he thinks people are against him.

Brian (Jacksonville, FL)

We were have a "civil" discussion on your Facebook 10 Best post with respect to Chris Hope vs Griffin. I think in a 3 year window, Hope is your best bet even though he is pushing 29. Thoughts?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:11 PM)

I love Hope. But you won't find him on my list tomorrow.

Ulises (San Antonio)

If the supposed sponsor that is wanting to rent space from the Texans practice jersey, was to come to surface, how big of an up roar would it cause and would the NFL have something to say? (referring to the adult entertainment company that wants to sponsor the Texans jersey's)

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:12 PM)

I think the league would have some serious veto power. Send me a note about who it is?

Jeff Fisher (Nashville)

What kind things will you have to say about me at my roast via video?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:12 PM)

Pacman could come up.

Seth (Denver)

What are your current thoughts on the Moore/Mudd situation? A month ago, you cited their apparent loss as reason to be concerned. Now, it appears they both will be back. Will they have the same game day responsibilities they've always had? Does that matter or is it more important for them to be their in preparation in the week leading up to the game? Sorry for the six questions in one.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:13 PM)

Yeah, the way things have panned out, I expect them to be back in August and doing exactly what they did before. Posted on it Tuesday. An offseason distraction, not ideal, not a death blow.

Ryan Leaf (hiding out)

PK, this is the first time I've been wanted for anything in over 10 years. I need to hide out. Tim Graham told me to hide out in your chat. He said no one ever goes there...

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:14 PM)

But his Dungeons and Dragons chat rooms are overflowing?Give me NY, NE and Miami as markets for a week.

shane (norwalk, IA)

why do so many people think that chris johnson is a better player then MJD?? rumor has it that you also believe this to be true...there is nothing anyone can say at this point to convince me he is, but how can so many people think this???thanks!!

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:16 PM)

He is faster. Probably the fastest guy in the league. And faster means more dangerous in terms of breaking away on any given play. He also has a superior line and a superior defense.I think he's more feared by game-planning coordinators, yes. I think Jones-Drew is excellent, though. I am allowed to like both.

Adam (Louisville, KY)

Bigger off-season acquisition for the Colts, Ed Johnson back or Keiho/Seward?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:16 PM)

Ed Johnson. A lot of guys can play linebacker there. Especially if guys like Johnson are penetrating and drawing a lot of hands.

Jason (Indianapolis, IN)

Hey Paul, I was wondering what you think about Pierre Garcon? I have a feeling he could really develop into a good reciever and was wondering what you thought about him?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:17 PM)

Liked what I saw. Liked Collie too. I currently expect them to be third and fourth. Now in what order?

Mr. Peanut (Aisle 4)

Did you bring your snacks?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:18 PM)

Did you bring yours to share, that's the question.

Seth (Denver)

I know it's hard to gauge a player during OTA's, especially rookies, but what were your impressions of Donald Brown?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:19 PM)

I can't pretend to have gained any real insight into him from what I saw. Tremendously productive in college, and I expect to be an effective pro right away.

JB (TX)

Grossman: camp arm, or is Kubiak bringing him in to compete?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:19 PM)

Based on the money you gave Orlovsky, if Grossman beat him out that would be kind of embarrassing, no?

Matt (IN)

I can't believe I'm asking this, but I don't recall what you wrote about it (however brief it may have been)...anyway, who looked better as the punter, Mastay or McAfee?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:20 PM)

I can't believe you're asking it either.Ladies and gentlemen, our first punting question. (Applause and boos.)And McAfee.

Adam (Louisville, KY)

Agree on Johnson, I loved that guy two years ago. Polian cited you need tow different backs for do different things for the team, but Brown's skill sets seem to be all too similar to Addai's for me. Was that just a PR move?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:21 PM)

Does Polian make PR moves? I don't understand what you mean?

Brad (Houston)

Paul, I understand your stance on Young saying he wont get it, but i'd like to throw some stuff your way. I have always been a texas fan, and when he first started i thought he was going to suck, everyone did. He changed some things and won a championship. Yes he has had a rocky start stat wise in the nfl, but there are some hall of famers who had similar, rocky starts. Young is 22-32 td to int. In Troy Aikmans first 3 years he was 31-46, then went 67-39 in his next 4 years. Terry Bradshaw was 31-58 in his first 3, then went 45-41 in his next 4. Warren Moon went 40-59 in his first 3, then went 94-53 in his next 4. Now im not saying Young is anything like they are, but I wouldn't count him out yet.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:22 PM)

Those guys all took their lumps and were on the verge of being in good situations. He is not. He's a No. 2, closer to No. 3 than No. 1.

Jason (Indianapolis, IN)

What are your thoughts on Tony Ugoh? Love the colts, but never a big fan of him. I really think Polian missed on picking him (one of the very few draft misses), but do you expect him to be around if he doesnt pick it up this year?

shane (norwalk, IA)

speed isnt everything though, and thats all johnson has going for him. he cant block anywhere near as well as drew, and its not like MJD is slow, just has A LOT more power then johnson could ever hope to have!! which would you rather have to build an offense around?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:24 PM)

He doesn't need to block much, and won't be asked to since the ball will be in his hands. And you can pick up a blitz, or you can be assigned to quickly slip out for a dump off. He can do both.If I am choosing, I'm picking my primary running back based on his blocking.I want the guy who's most different from everyone else, and in this instance, world class speed sets Johnson apart more. Again, I love MJD too.

Daniel (Jacksonville)

June is such a slow month. This chat fixes my need for Jags talk. Do you think Harvey progresses this year or is he another failed first rounder for the Jags?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:25 PM)

Glad to be of service.I think he progresses. But boy do they need some good tackle play to help the cause.

Kevin (NY)

While you were in jakcsonville did it still look as though holt had enough speed to be productive. His route running will always be there, but will he be able to be a deep threat?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:26 PM)

Even if he is, I don't think the QB can find him.If Jacksonville is better with big plays, I think a lot of it has tom come with yards after the catch. And they have several guys who can do well at that.

Jeff (TN)

What are the chances of Mitch King landing a roster spot with the crowd we have a defensive line? Do you think the Titans could carry 11 d-linemen into the season? (6 DT, 5 DE)

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:27 PM)

That's a lot. If everyone is healthy, it's hard to keep him. But everyone won't stay healthy.

Matt (IN)

You should do a CJ vs MJD blog, and give the readers a chance to weigh in on who they think is better. As a Colts fan I'd rather them both go away, but I like CJ's speed

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:28 PM)

Excellent idea, and going on my list.

Ed (Jonesboro, AR)

Kearse held down his side of the line last year and actually made it through a full season without injury. Is this all the Titans are looking for from him? With KVB entering free agency after this year, is DE a position we see TN drafting for next year?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:29 PM)

I think KVB will get an extension once he shows he's the same guy. They have guys to replace Kearse, even take some of his time this year, in Ford and Ball. Hayes needs to show more.Wrote a few weeks ago that Jim Washburn said if he was being honest about his best guys right then, Ball would have to start.

Erik (Salt Lake City, UT)

When do teams have to start cutting players?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:30 PM)

Well, as they sign rookies, they count against the 80. So you have to make room for them if you have more than that.

Awayne (INDY)

Other than depth for injury sake is the 3rd WR in Indy as big a deal as we fans are making ? The base 2 TE formation alows Clark to play in the slot on third down and if they go no huddle it keeps teams from going to nickle packages.I'll take Clark on a saftey or OLB any day>

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:31 PM)

Well, it's the biggest battle, so it gets blown up. But yes, it's important. Not just for who's third, but what if Wayne or Gonzo get hurt?

Mad Mike ( Houston) (Houston, TX)

Paul: Let's take the Johnson, MJD question one step further. Add Steve Slaton to the mix and then what. All three backs are quality, no doubt, but it is of course my opinion that Slaton brings the most to the table, although I will point out the sepration is minimal best. So, which one do you take and why? Don't tell me to wait until tomorrow!..............MM

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:31 PM)

All great, but for me if I am choosing right now, it's Jones, MJD and Slaton in that order.

rick (st louis)

With the x pick of the 2010 draft the Tennessee Titans select Taylor Mays, Safety, USC?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:32 PM)

Rick, we haven't met. But I'm not a college football guy. At all. You could make up names right now for the 2010 draft and I wouldn't know if they were real or pretend.

Adam (SC)

What would be the reason for Kerry Collins low comp percentages that you dissussed. It seemed to me that outside of the Titans and his first year in Carolina he had decent percentages. Is it him or the talent around him in Nashville?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:33 PM)

Dinger likes to take his shots, that's part of it. Drops, talent of pass catches, and some bad games/quarters/throws are in there too.

Mad Mike ( Houston) (Houston, TX)

Paul: I will ask you that question again at the end of next season and i will bet your answer is different!.........MM

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:34 PM)

He's good. But how is he better than either of those two? C'mon now. You're usually reasonable. The Texans would trade Slaton for CJ in an instant. You're right though, the order could be different. Brown could be in front of him too.No, the list could be upside-down, who knows?

Mad Mike ( Houston) (Texas)

Paul: You of course will try to get some time with DA (David Anderson) as well next week when you are here. I am interested to hear what you get from him. What days are you here?......MM

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:35 PM)

Sunday night to Wednesday afternoon.

Kobe Bryant (LA LA Land)

Are you rooting for me or do you believe in Magic?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:36 PM)

I believe in not getting excited about watching pick and roll, isolation, timeout, pick and roll, timeout.

David (Jacksonville)

One thing's for certain...the AFC South doesn't have a shortage of good RBs. Even the backups are talented.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:36 PM)

Stacked.

Chris Faulkner (Memphis, TN)

Hey Paul, let's say the inevitable happens and the Titans cut VY after next season (or during.. whatever) ... if they go after a QB in the draft who do you think they look at?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:37 PM)

Please see earlier answer about my knowledge of college prospects.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:37 PM)

Chat's second half, we all need to be funnier.Go...

Dave (Canada)

Do you think that the Titans should have offered Lendale an extension by now? They got a lot of production and carries out of him for very little money.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:38 PM)

No way. He's been spoon fed great carries. I bet they think Javon Ringer will be able to do the same thing even cheaper.White's not getting big money from Tennessee.

Nate (Indy)

So you really don't see Tennesse's run defense suffering too much without Haynesworth?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:38 PM)

A bit, yeah. But they are very sound. Tulloch will have to grow and do more.

Courtney Lee (Orlando, FL)

Paul, I heard you giving me a hard time on the radio the other day for missing the potential game winning shot. You do realize that I was under the backboard? Can't you give a fella a break?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:39 PM)

Make it. Moment of a lifetime. Make it. I didn't say it was easy. I said you should make it.

Awayne (INDY)

Sorry Paul I guess I didn't ask the right question so let me try again.Do you see the Colts using even less 3 WR sets and going to the no huddle on 3rd down so they can gets Clark in the slot against a LB or Saftey on 3rd down?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:40 PM)

I don't think it'll be universal. I think they'll judge those matchups game to game.

Brett Favre (Mississippi for now)

First I made it a nightmare for your buddy Graham. This year it's gonna be Kevin Seifert's turn again, but next year AFC South here I come! Brett Favre, your starting QB for the Tennessee Titans in 2011!

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:41 PM)

Poor Seifert. That horrific weather and the Favre watch

Nate (Indy)

Could you compare the styles of Caldwell and Dungy from what you saw in minicamps?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:43 PM)

Very similar. The seating chart stuff was revealing. Maybe he's a little tougher or more demanding so far? Not sure.

Andre Johnson (Houston)

Two thirds of the world is covered by water, the rest by Cortland Finnegan

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:43 PM)

Nice. And I hear Cort's a pretty good swimmer too.

Matt (Hershey)

How high will the compensatory pick the Titans receive for Albert Haynesworth be?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:43 PM)

Can't be higher than a third.

Jason (Chicago)

What do you think of Chow saying they mishandled VY's development... So who was it Fisher? Reese or Bud?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:44 PM)

That wasn't a revelation. He played too early. Everyone knew it. Bud pushed for it, but at 0-5 what do you do?

Jeff Fisher (parts known to some, sought by many)

If you had to roast Paul Kuharsky, what would you say?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:44 PM)

A handsome man with a beautiful voice.

Seth (Denver)

If you were NFL commissioner for a day, what's the first thing you would do or change you would make?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:45 PM)

Fines for anyone whining about disrespect.

Bob (Fort Lauderdale, FL)

Paul, are you going dress up in Columbia Blue as Santa Claus for the Christmas nite game in Nashville this year?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:45 PM)

You may be onto something.

Corey (D.C.)

Paul, it seems to be that the NFL should do away with the Franchise Tag. It was good in theory, but doesnt give players any security long term. What do you think about making it a Franchise Contract of at least 2 years, and give teams 2 of these?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:46 PM)

How does getting $10 million guaranteed this year keep Dunta Robinson insecure? You better hope they strike a new CBA if you hate the franchise tag, otherwise teams get an additional one.The players signed off on that whole concept, it wasn't forced on them.

Ed (Jonesboro, AR)

Paul, do you find it hard NOT to slip into FANdom when you cover teams or is it easy to be impartial?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:47 PM)

It's incredibly easy to be impartial.

Joey (Texas)

Who do you think is gonna be the backup Qb for the Texans?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:47 PM)

Orlovsly is the backup. You don't pay a guy like that to cut him or have him third.

Pacman (Who knows)

You suck Kuharsky. You let some Canadian steal my Javon Ringer question, which I submitted an hour before the chat started. To make amends, tell me what realistic chance I have of ever playing on Sundays again (doesn't sound like I'll be wearing the star again).

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:48 PM)

0.235 percent

Chris Faulkner (Memphis, TN)

Most likely to be on Titans roster this season ... D. Edison, Jason McCourty, or Mitch King?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:48 PM)

McCourty.

Jason (Chicago)

What do you mean what do you do? Paul how ridiculous are you if he needed to sit how can a franchise throw a player under the bus when they ruined his developement? Since as you said earlier he was closer to # 3 then 1 what does that say about Fisher? Chow? Reese? Reinfeldt? Underwood? Doesnt that speak poorly of a coaching staff/organization universally regarded as being one of the best in the league

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:49 PM)

They threw him under a bus? They cover for him, keep talking like he has a chance. They didn't quit, he quit.

Mad Mike ( Houston) (Texas)

Paul: Are you ready to eat well next Sunday-Werdnesday?....MM

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:49 PM)

I need to try to be reasonable.I need to try to be reasonable.I need to try to be reasonable.I need to try to be reasonable.I need to try to be reasonable.I need to try to be reasonable.I need to try to be reasonable.I need to try to be reasonable.

Harry (Nashville)

So Ryan Leaf is now fleeing the Texas law in Canada. Your thoughts?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:50 PM)

Sucks for Canada.

Dick ((Nashville))

After playing that video you posted of Vince today, all I can say is "When Vince speaks, people -- translate."Where's Chief?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:50 PM)

Probably at a matinee.

Mike (Cohoes)

Granted, I like the moves the Titans made with wide receivers but am I the only one concerned about the fact that they are relying on a guy who was a 3rd receiver in Pitt, a rookie and a second year player that didn't have much time/success last season? Would the Titans be looking for veteran help on the waiver wire as we go through camp?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:52 PM)

Who is the miracle worker they should have brought in? Fitzgerald and Johnson weren't available. Just about everbody is looking for a star wideout. You get one or two you think can become very good and hope to develop them, even if your track record is brutalWho's the free veteran that's going to solve their isues? Drew Bennett? Matt Jones?

Harry (Nashville)

What will be the biggest difference in the Titans d this year with Chuck at the helm?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:53 PM)

I think they'll play a bit angrier. But his job is to maintain first. There isn't going to be some drastic alteration.

Ed Hochuli (At the GYM)

No penalties today?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:54 PM)

I don't want to step on your toes and get punched by a fist attached to one of those guns.

Dustin (Stanford CA)

Since I know you love VY and love to talk about him endlessly. How accurate does KC playing the next two years. VY cut next year. QB drafted in 010 sitting 1 year behind KC and starting in 011 sound?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:55 PM)

Probable. New guy could start next year, or be in position to start during the year. Depends on where they get him.

Jason (Chicago)

Chad Johnson was avliable for a #2 thats what they sent to New England for Cook. I would have paid that and 8million dollars for a player one season removed from 93catches /1440yards

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:55 PM)

Yeah, because he brings no baggage at all. Look at all the teams that made that deal. Oh, wait. No one did.

JB (TX)

PK, even if we disagree from time to time in chats, glad to see we agree on The Hangover. The scene where the guy jumps out of the trunk...couldn't stop laughing!

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:56 PM)

The tiger is getting all the attention, which I think shortchanges Carlos!

Tim Graham (AFC East)

Dude. You need to start making it to DnD nights. Last night we totally could've used your rogue's lockpicking skills when that chest blew up in Seifert's face. We want you here, but Easterbrook is begging to get in the game, and he totally bogarts the Cheetos.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:57 PM)

I'll bet the Zima was flowing.

Awayne (INDY)

Who do you see Matt Jones playing for next year? A lot of teams are thin at WR so I am pretty sure he will get signed for league min.Any chance he could end up a Redskin, cause they could sure use a WR over 5'2".

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:57 PM)

He'll be somewhere and can be a solid possession guy if he keeps his head straight.

shane (norwalk, IA)

which jags rookie receiver do you think will make the biggest impact this year? then how about in 3 years from now??

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:59 PM)

Underwood may have looked the best at minicamp. Too hard to say on three years. It's be a guess on my part, and I'd guess Thomas.

Awayne (INDY)

Paul what I think a lot of Titan fans are forgetting is that no matter who the bring in to play WR they are not going to change from a run first philosophy. If they were really interested in becoming more of a passing team wouldn't the first step be to get a QB they trust to throw 35 times a game?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:00 PM)

There is a difference between throwing 15 times and throwing 35 times. To be exact, it's 20 throws. They should throw it a little more, but more importantly, more effectively.

Dustin (Stanford CA)

Fischer said on an NFL.com chat that they are tinkering with the Wildcat? Will it be effective with all of the speed they have? CJ in motion and VY taking the snaps? Did you see any of it at OTAs?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:00 PM)

Why are people still buying this?Any chance he gets he says they're going to do it. He loves the idea of people spending time on it.Believe it when I see it.

Vince Young (Espn Studios)

Paul go long - its about the only pass I can make

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:01 PM)

Really? Let's see.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:01 PM)

We want to keep going or have we had enough?

Harry (Nashville)

I hate to ask a question about a punter, but do you think Hentrich really has improved this offseason, or do the Titans need to venture a look at someone else. His punts really put pressure on our defense last year.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:01 PM)

Who else? If you're getting a new punter, you do it in March or April.

Nate (Indy)

Final observation: Fantasy football is like Dungeons and Dragons for guys who used to beat up the nerds who played Dungeons and Dragons in high school. I'm not sure what this says about guys who play BOTH fantasy football and DnD.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:02 PM)

I prefer fantasy baseball, personnaly. But I contend in baseball and not in football, so that has something to do with it.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:03 PM)

Quick timeout. Right back. Ed, that OK?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:07 PM)

Still here?

LegendoftheFall (Fantasy Football champ 4 years straight)

pauldo you feel like i do that if we just only got Tom Brady, Randy Moss, and Larry Fitzgerald we would win the Superbowl? Can you give me a percentage probabilty on this scenario playing out. Thanks.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:07 PM)

96.7 percent

Kingpin (Grinnell, IA)

Paul - Love the blog, keep up the good work? Why don't we see more directional punting (ie coffin-corner punts) any more?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:09 PM)

Thanks Kingpin. How's Iowa?I actually asked Polian about this. Wasn't his favorite question. He started out by saying directional and coffin corner are two different things entirely.Basically said CC is more high risk, and angling towards sideline instead of trying to get out of bounds is more effective,

Harry (Nashville)

You're racing Chris Johnson. You start on the 30, he starts at the goal line. Racing to the other goal line you beat him by how much?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:10 PM)

I have been playing this game with him, and fast guys before him, for years.I will get into it in training camp. But he's not shy about giving me yards.

Ed Hochuli (Chat Ref)

That's illegal use of the hands against the chatters for asking 3 questions about punters, 10 yards and it is now 3rd down.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:11 PM)

That's fair Ed. You're doing a hell of a job!

Sir Charles (TN)

Do you think that the JAGS will be the AFC South sleeper? If not who?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:12 PM)

No, I don't. Those are three talented teams ahead of them. The Texans have a shot at a playoff spot. I wouldn't call them sleepers. In a good four-team division there is no such thing.

Kevin (NY)

Besides the AFC south, if you had to cover one division in football what would it be?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:12 PM)

It would be chosen based on getting closer to family, not out of affection for any particular division.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:12 PM)

Have we seen glitches?

Mad Mike (Houston)

I am surpirsed that Ed did not flag you for illegal use of the hands for your recent break!...........MM

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:13 PM)

I was getting the dog inside, thank you very much.

Awayne (INDY)

Seems that there is a lot of bad vibes coming from J-Ville about J.Henderson.Is this a case of a vet that doesn't want to work hard this early and he will be fine in Aug. or do think there is trouble brewing .

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:13 PM)

Big question. They have to be hoping A, because B could kill them. They need interior D-line to be good to be who they want to be.

Chris Faulkner (Memphis, TN)

KVB or Keith Bulluck more important to resign?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:14 PM)

Rushing the passer harder to do, harder to replace, I think. That's no knock on KB, it's just about the positions.

shane (norwalk, IA)

do you think the jags will actually use the wildcat formation?? MJD already said he is more of an old school I formation kind of guy, and its not like the jags are known for being tricky...what brought about them adding this formation to the play book?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:15 PM)

They were working on it for their defense, mostly, as they will see Miami. He doesn't throw particularly well, which means it's hardly ideal for the Jags.Someone explain why people cannot talk enough about the Wildcat?

Harry (Nashville)

I think too much stock is being put into Holt mentoring the Jags WR. The Titans thought that Thigpen, Pickens, and Moulds would do the same thing, and it did not pay off. Is he there to help develop guys or to help them win?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:17 PM)

Moulds helped. Thigpen and Pickens were not really brought in to mentor, though they were expected to raise the level for the group.I'm not big on the mentor factor either. I want a guy to be a productive player. There are coaches to coach. But Holt seems like the type who can produce and have a positive influence, so you take that bonus.

Bud Adams (Downtown Nashville)

Face of the Titans franchise for the next 5 years: CJ or Finnegan?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:17 PM)

Holding out hope for VY!

Vince Young (Tennessee)

What I really meant in my conversation with ESPN was that I can take this team to greater leaps than Kerry Collins can ever dream of. Are you sold now that I can lead this team to a Super Bowl?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:18 PM)

Seriously? From that nonsensical 90 seconds with Michael Smith?

Dave (Canada)

iIf the Titans needed a last minute hail-mary pass to win a game would they put VY in or does Kerry have a bigger arm than VY?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:19 PM)

If Vince's arm is bigger, it's surely not as accurate. Also, his arm is cold from sitting around pouting on the bench.

Alge Crumple (Atlanta)

Do I make the team this year?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:20 PM)

Yes. They'll carry four TEs I think, and their fourth will be better than the last guy at another spot.

Mad Mike (Houston)

Paul: What second year player in the AFC South do you see taking the biggest step up from their rookie performance? Thanks.......MM

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:21 PM)

I need time with this Mike, let's mailbag it and I'll try to turn it into a post.

Dave (Canada)

I read a story about Carrie Underwood playing in softball game in Nashville last night. They almost gave a complete play-by-play of what she did during the game and then added that Kerry Collins also played. Is it possible that she's a better softball player than him?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:21 PM)

Either that or better looking, I can't decide.

Seth (Denver)

I love these chats, but I can't stand all the V.Y. chatter. It's like talking about Jim Sorgi or Bryan Leftwhich. Am I asking too much for the AFC South chatters to never bring up V.Y again?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:22 PM)

Yes, sadly. He moves the meter. We need big stars beyond Peyton to emerge in this division this season.I am also compelled to point out to everyone that talks of how there is too much VY talk that they've just added to it when they had a chance to try to change the subject.

Charles (Goodlettsville)

Roughly, how much cap space does the teams in the AFC south have?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:24 PM)

Colts, not much at all.Other three, I don't believe it's any sort of issue right now. Will try to get an update soon and post.

Ed Hochuli ((chat ref))

Seth in Denver is penalized 15 yards for complete failure in spelling Byron Leftwich.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:24 PM)

That's why you're the best in the biz, Ed.

Chris Faulkner (Memphis, TN)

Also a/b the Wildcat, Titans have a million dollar man sitting on the bench ... what fan wouldn't want that money doing something on the field... especially something that seems made for him.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:25 PM)

Because, thankfully, what you make doesn't get you on the field. Work and execution do.

Adam (TN)

What are the dates of the Titans training camp this year? My buddy and I need to schedule our man date and go watch practice, eat barbecue, and tell bad Lendale "cupcake) White jokes all day.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:26 PM)

Starts Friday, July 31.

Adam (Tennessee)

Can Ryan Fowler win back the middle linebacker spot for the Titans or is Tully there until he's hurt?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:26 PM)

It's Tully's. Fowler might be in trouble for a roster spot.

Mad Mike (Houston)

Paul: The question has been sent to your mailbag.......MM

Dustin (Stanford CA)

Does McRath or Keglar replace Bulluck next year?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:26 PM)

Neither would be my guess.

Jordan Small (Huntington Beach, CA)

On Fox's top 99 it has Roos ranked as the second best tackle in the league behind Gross of Car. Do you think that is a fair assessment? Where would you rank the bookend tackles of Ten, Roos

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:27 PM)

Gross is very good, so I don't think it's unfair. Titans tandem is close to the top.

Awayne (INDY)

I know Rex Grossman is never going to be a top QB but looking around the league shouldn't he be able to get a no.2 gig,it's not like the NFL has 60 QB's that could out perform him.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:28 PM)

Apparently not. The great Rosenhaus couldn't get him better than the third spot in Houston.

Wilson (INDY)

Paul big fan and think you do a great job with the division. I've seen you give high praise to both the titans and the colts this off season, saying each is in the 2nd tier of AFC powers behind NE and Pitt. My question is which one, Indy or Tenn, would you pick as having a better chance to make the super bowl and why?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:30 PM)

I gave the Colts the edge last year as defending champs. I give the Titans a slight edge this year as defending champs. One big factor there: Titans excellent on O-line, Colts have some question marks with injuries and Ugoh.I just have a feeling the Titans learned from last year and while they won't go 13-3 will be better able to position themselves to be hot at the end and in the playoffs. But I think New England is going to and winning the Super Bowl.

shane (norwalk, IA)

have you narrowed down your players regarding the building block blog?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:31 PM)

It's done and ready to go. Tomorrow at 11 ET. I'm going to get slaughtered for it.Was somewhat agonizing.

Matt Schaub (Houston, TX)

Hey don't you think I have a better shot at making it through the season now that Big Al isn't around to body slam me twice a year?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:31 PM)

It will certainly help. Reporters will miss Al especially before those two games.Does Washington play Minnesota? He could reunite with his guy Sage!

Seth (Denver)

I will bet you every dollar I have -- all seventeen of them -- that New England will NOT win the Super Bowl.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:32 PM)

I'd do it, but it might get me in trouble. A beverage or six?

Brian (Jacksonville, FL)

Jags o-line had depth problems last year. No longer a problem. Who in the AFCS can least afford o-line injuries in 09?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:33 PM)

Titans have good guard depth, no tackle depth. Colts have one good swing guy in Johnson if they are healthy. Anything serious at the wrong spot to either line would hurt badly.

shane (norwalk, IA)

lol, very nice, i hope you chose either mario or roos (by the way, this is cheefadareefa)

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:33 PM)

Think you're safe presuming both of those are in.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:34 PM)

Six O, four D and you and yours will not like.

TJ (Ft. Myers)

Do I have a chatroom glitch, or are my questions just that dumb they don't make the cut? I'm cool with either.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:35 PM)

Ask one right now and it will be answered as the grand finale. Make it good. No pressure.

Chris Faulkner (Memphis, TN)

When's the ultimate AFC south draft happening? I still vote for Michael Griffin.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:35 PM)

Tomorrow, 11 ET. Not ultimate mock. Ultimate building blocks.

Adam (Tennessee)

Few Titan free agents leave and have gone on to greener pastures in recent years. Not that I wish ill upon him, but I think Albert will have a very hard time living up to that contract.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:36 PM)

Even so, it doesn't mean he wouldn't have been good had the Titans found a way to keep him. And if they were only $1 million apart last year like AH says, the Titans are idiots.

Peyton Manning (home)

PK, I'm glad you let me know when the building block thing will be posted, because our communication hasn't been good and I feel left in the dark.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:36 PM)

I'm trying Peyton. Now how about one question apart from the horde next time I am there?

Wilson (INDY)

Hey I know you are a big Hope/Finny fan but I think the colts actually have the best secondary in the division (maybe whole league) With Jackson back and Sanders healthy (i know big if) do you see that unit being dominate or do you think there success recently has had more to do with the porous run D?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:37 PM)

Good players but more B.Titans had three of four in the Pro Bowl, and it's not like they were guys who got in on rep or history.

JB (TX)

What ever happened to Quin Gray? Played some solid ball in '07, signed w/the Texans last yr, got cut, and never resurfaced. Any info?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:38 PM)

He's not good?

Chris Faulkner (Memphis, TN)

I wish there was a way for us to notify on the page which remarks of yours are especially great ... sort of like around the horn. you get a lot of good ones out there!

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:39 PM)

A star system! That would be excellent.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:39 PM)

Where is the guy I gave the last question to?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:41 PM)

Alright people. Was a blast and I enjoyed it.Friend "Paul Kuharsky Espn" (remember the Espn part) on facebook.Sign up to follow the blog on Twitter on the right side of the blog page.Read the Holt column posted this afternoon.Look for ultimate building blocks tomorrow at lunch.Hit the mailbag -- your odds are great of making this weekend's entry. And have a huge weekend (pronounce with no H at the start).Cheers!

Ed Hochuli (chat ref)

TJ at Ft Myers suspended 2 games for choking under pressure.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:42 PM)

Co-signed.
