Chat with Scott Van Pelt

ESPNRadio.com
  (1:34 PM)

Sorry we are a bit tardy. Scott's show now comes from the TV studio...and First Take is still on the air! So, we are whispering, but we are ready.

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:34 PM)

Okay, we're here. In our new digs. Show starts on TV on Monday (3pm ET hour) so you better tune in. Fire away.

Marc (Charlotte)

Buzz, is SVP making the chat today?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:35 PM)

Yes, I'm here. Sorry!

Tom Rizzo (Jacksonville, FL)

Who plays in the World Series this year, and who wins?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:36 PM)

How do I know? Boston and the Dodgers. I like both teams pitching, but there's no way that that will happen. Because whoever wins the Wild Card in one of the leagues will end up getting there. I'm just picturing Manny in Boston...

florencia (buenos aires, argentina)

What is your opinion on Argentine futbol (soccer)? what is your favorite futbol club in the world?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:37 PM)

No offense, but I think you have the wrong chat!

Mike (Ohio)

SVP, Americans reportedly eat 7.5 billion hot dogs between Memorial Day and July 4th. How many are you going to be enjoying this weekend?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:38 PM)

Single digits. Probably one hand. Maybe zero come to think of it. Going to some party in DC, it's probably some swanky shindig where hot dogs are frowned upon.

Joe R. (Arlington Heights, IL)

My favorite webisode of "Mayne Street" is when you and Kenny (namely Kenny) experienced difficulties closing up SportsCenter. Did you enjoy working on the show? How much time did it take?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:39 PM)

It was a lot of fun. We just sat in the studio and acted like idiots for 20 minutes. Kenny and I enjoy that type of party.

Chris D. (LL, Michigan)

Scott, is hitting for the cycle more impressive than hitting three home runs like Torii Hunter did last month?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:39 PM)

Yes, I think cycles were as rare as no-hitters, although this year there have been far more. The triple obviously makes it a hard get.

Marc (Charlotte)

SVP, why aren't you ever interviewed on any of the Golf Channel's Top 10 shows? ESPN not allow it?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:40 PM)

Never been asked. I'm sure if they asked, ESPN wouldn't care. Then again I've never been asked to go to the ESPY's either. Maybe it's me?!?!?

Patrick Collins (Alabama)

do you think that albert pujols will win the triple crown this year?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:41 PM)

Tim Kurkjian said it. I didn't believe it. But, anything the guy does is not a surprise. He seems far and away to be the best in the game at the moment. So, I guess that's a maybe.

Phil (Los Angeles)

If the Lakers let trevor go away, will they 100% keep Odom or forget him and go after Artest?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:42 PM)

They won't lose both. They will keep Odom.

Marc (Charlotte)

Are you excited about your new show?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:45 PM)

For sure. We're going to have fun pictures, monkeys doing double dutch, dancers in cages, and Ryen Russillo in a tank top. Also, we will talk about sports and pound 40's. I ask you, does that not sound like fun?

Clay (Charlotte)

Who is a better sport sibling duo: Eli and Peyton or Venus and Serena? Jay Harris said he would take the Williams sisters.

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:46 PM)

So would I and it's not real close. They have 18 slams between them, soon to be 19. Venus played the #1 player in the world and beat her 1 and love...in 51 minutes. Not even close.

Tom (Jacksonville)

So how your terps gonna do this year. Personally I feel my demon deacons(I attend school there) are gonna dominate the ACC

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:49 PM)

I think ACC football is completely up in the air. I've seen a couple people picking NC State in the Atlantic...which is interesting. I think it's completley wide open, my terps are pretty young.

Chris D. (LL, Michigan)

Scott, what did you think of the Pistons offers to Gordon and Villanueva?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:49 PM)

I like it. Thye have money, they want to change the dynamic now they don't want to wait til next year. They went out and got two guys both under 25 who can both score. I like it a lot.

Urban Meyer (Gainseville)

Scott, you are either for eating Hot Dogs or you're not. If you aren't, you can go buy a ticket in 37F!

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:50 PM)

I'm gonna go to the press box where hot dogs are free. Thanks Coach, it's great to be.

Otto (CA)

Can Corey Pavin drive the ball further than Natalie Gulbis?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:50 PM)

Can Natalie Gulbis win a US Open?

Chris D. (LL, Michigan)

Scott, would Rasheed Wallace be a good fit for the Celtics?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:51 PM)

Yes, I love it. I think they have what he needs, and he has what they need. Some structure, some veterans to help him. His skill set is exactly what Boston was lacking and needs.

Phil (Los Angeles)

Who's going to have a more successful career: Danny Lee or Anthony Kim?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:53 PM)

I'm partial to Anthony because I've seen what he can do. He's won on big time courses and came up big in the Ryder Cup. He's also got that cocky attitude you have to have. People love Lee, I just haven't seen enough to know for sure.

Tom (Jacksonvill)

Will the Knicks ever be relevant again?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:53 PM)

Yes. They'll get someone in 2010 and the Garden will bounce once again.

Tom (Jacksonville)

Who's your dream 4 some (doesn't matter what sport they play)?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:56 PM)

I've always said the same thing. My Dad, My Grandfather, My Step-Father. Sadly, all of them are gone. None of them was any good at Golf, which means we would have 7 or 8 hours to catch up.

Chris D. (LL, Michigan)

Scott, is Michael Curry going to get another shot at head coaching or did he completely shoot himself in the foot and ruin his chances?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:57 PM)

His message was not warmly recieved. And it seemed like guys like him, Sam Mitchell, who are task masters/disciplinarians don't go over very well these days.

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:57 PM)

....so....he'll need a GM who is a buddy somewhere to take another flyer.

Marc (Charlotte)

SVP, did Tiger invite you to play in the Pro-Am?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:57 PM)

No, he asked Romo instead. He's dead to me. TONY ROMO!!! COWBOYS QB!!! PLAYING IN DC!!!What's that all about?

Matt (Jacksonville)

Can you stop posting Tom from Jacksonville's questions. I'm his boss. He needs to get back to work.

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:58 PM)

Oops...so do I. Radio show starts in 2 minutes. Gotta go!
