Scott just walked in...let's rock!

AMR (Cleveland)

How long have you been wearing glasses? Have you ever worn or considered wearing contacts?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:04 PM)

Wore them once. They made my eyes go crazy. (say that in a jerky boys voice). I never wore them again. And really the glasses are more cosmetic...for the ladies.

Yates (East Coast)

Ryen is one of my favorites on espn radio, but I missed you a lot. Hope you had a great vaca. Welcome back!

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:04 PM)

Thanks!

John (NJ)

Scott whats your thought on how the Eagles will do this season without Jim Johnson?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:08 PM)

Ryen and I talked about Johnson yesterday. We both have a ton of respect and admiration for what the man did. Obviously, they will miss him, but if you've listened to me over the years, you know that I think the hardest thing in the world to do is forecast what a team is going to do year to year in the NFL. I think they are a playoff team, beyond that, I don't know how much anyone could realistically suggest.

AMR (Cleveland)

As a Cleveland sports fan, do I have anything to look forward to? Browns? Cavs?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:09 PM)

Sure Cavs. Don't fall into that trap where because they didn't win it all, you ignore the fact that they won 66 games. Plus, there's good stadium mustard at the Jake. And I'm running out if anyone wants to send me another bottle!!!

Craig G. (Fairfield, CA)

Hey SVP, any thoughts on your Terps coming out here to Cali and repeating against Cal?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:10 PM)

My guess is BEST, will be looking to get even after he got blasted and puked on TV last year. Cal looks pretty good, Terps are pretty young on both lines. Looks like a pretty big ask for the Turtles.

nick (bethlehem PA)

whos better in golf you or ryen

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:11 PM)

Video - It's hard to answer since I got the red ring of death. Real Golf - Ryen's Ukranian Power Lifter Physique really hurts around the greens.

Matt (Jacksonville)

SVP, you down with OPP?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:12 PM)

Yeah you know me.

nick (bethlehem, PA)

is it true you have tiger woods phone number

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:13 PM)

He has mine, I let him call me. I don't bug the guy.

Craig G. (Fairfield, CA)

Hey Scott, I know you're supposed to be unbiased, working for a national network and all, but what teams do/did you root for?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:16 PM)

No secret I root for Maryland, I grew up with the Redskins and the Orioles...so i was lucky enough to see them when they were good. Which they haven't been in a while. And that's it. I'm strictly regional. Not like those swingers who root for the Steelers, the Angels, and the Miami Heat. I never understood that.

blake (charleston)

svp, have you seen the pics of matt stafford floating around from july 4th? it seems as if being the number 1 pic has many more benefits than just the cash....

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:18 PM)

Haven't seen them. Matt Stafford was the #1 pick, he's a good looking kid. What do you think he's gonna do? Be sitting around the pool with a bunch of pigs shotgunning natty lights? Of course not.

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:18 PM)

He oughta hang out with dime pieces, but I'm sure he's a gentleman. I'm a little concerned with his eyewear, however, he could probably upgrade that.

AMR (Cleveland)

Can Tiger get it together this year and what about Phil?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:21 PM)

Tiger has won 3 tournaments...so...he's doing alright. I understand your bigger point, which is probably "can he win a major" and he has one more chance to get that done. As for Phil, he played awfully well at the US Open when you'd have to think his mind was even more distracted. Umm. He's won at Firestone, and has a PGA as well. Wouldn't surprise me if Phil and Tiger both got wins before the year's end.

Matt (Jacksonville)

Scott, you are going to lose half your audience if you badmouth shotgunning natty lights

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:22 PM)

I didn't say shotgunning natty lights was bad, I said shotgunning natty lights with pigs was bad.

Larry (texas)

hey scott are you guys gonna talk about big papi on the show?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:22 PM)

Should we? Seriously, how big a deal is this to people? If there's a blanket assumption that everyone was cheating, I'm curious what your reaction is to this.

Zack (Ohio)

You ever golf with Charles Barkley, is it as bad as it looks

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:23 PM)

I have not.

Guy (Enfield NH)

No s-it on the red ring of death..I just got for the 3rd friggin time...No Call of Duty for 3 weeks...sucks...

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:24 PM)

I'm just going to buy another one, right? Or I'll shame the xbox people into sending me a new one, and do a helicopter drop of ones around NH so hopefully you get one too.

Craig (Norwich, CT)

Does Jim Johnson, or any assistant coach (Monte Kiffin, Dick LeBeau) belong in the Pro Football Hall of Fame?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:26 PM)

That's a very interesting question. Kiffin created the Tampa 2. I guess if Philly had more success on the biggest stages, you could make a stronger case for it. But, there are certainly plenty of coaches along those lines whose impact probably doesn't get the recognition it deserves.

Matt (Jacksonville)

No one cares anymore about steroid news. Please do not talk about this. Thank you.-Baseball fans everywhere

Stephen (Atlanta)

Definitely talk about Papi. It's unfair to assume that everybody roided. Those that are linked with the names on this list, however, should be slammed.

nick (bethlehem, PA)

when you get your xbox back you think i could play you in call of duty

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:27 PM)

You could ifA) I had the internet hookup, which I don'tB) I had Call of Duty, which I don'tC) If I was a complete loser, which I may belet me work on A and B and we'll deal with C.

Craig G. (Fairfield, CA)

Is there a broadcaster, analyst or personality you admire most? One you model your style after?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:28 PM)

There was a guy in the DC area Glenn Brenner. He was a funny guy who didn't take himself seriously, and always acted like he knew how lucky he was to do what he did.

Zack (Ohio)

not on tv today?

Scott Van Pelt
  (1:29 PM)

Nope, just radio. ESPNRadio.com, check us out. But you can see me on SportsCenter tonight if you watch the 11 (ET)

ESPNRadio.com
  (1:29 PM)

Thanks for chatting...tune in to find out if and when they talk Papi. And Peter Gammons will join us as well.
