Chat on First Take

dana
  (9:49 AM)

morning all. man what a weekend!!may the forcier be with you.air forcier. One of the top 5 games i've seen at the big house.

Brian (SoCal)

Who will have the bigger year, Brees or Peterson?

mod
  (9:54 AM)

Good Monday morning gang...Packers/Bears reaction coming up in 1st Down...

mod
  (9:54 AM)

Looks like Tomo Romo looks better off without TO, your thoughts?

Reischea
  (10:01 AM)

Good Morning to Everyone! Pretty outstanding weekend if I do say so myself.

Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)

@Brian SoCal....Brees plays the Lions once, Peterson plays the Lions twice...advantage Peterson lol.

Umor (Detroit)

Peterson went Jim brown yesterday. Knocking over defenders.

Tim (Allentown)

Peterson is something special

Roller (Kentucky)

I think Pryor needs a little bench time so he can wake up or whatever the problem is.

Reischea
  (10:05 AM)

I'm going to go on and say it.... Matt Barkley, "the man". Hope his shoulder is ok...

Joey (RutlandVT)

Mod how can u say that after 1 game the Cowboys always start seasopn great it is nov/Dec when we will know what is the deal.

Ryan (Detroit)

Who was the biggest jerk of the weekend, Kanya West or Serena Williams?

juan (milwaukee)

Bad News Bears lol.

JR memphis tn [via mobile]

How about the 49ers handing it to the Cards??? Hope our D keeps it up & offenses comes around. 49ERS ALL DAY!!!

dana
  (10:05 AM)

Roller, I think it may be more the offense that's being run. Pryor would fit into a less regimented one. OSU will score and win in that system but the speed isn't there and he needs to be able to just create and doesn't seem able to from what i saw in that game.

Mike (Tennessee)

peterson could be the next barry sanders ...

Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)

Congratulations Dana!...Must have been a helluva game in person

Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)

Tavaris Jackson could have started yesterday the way he was running

Jason (Morgantown, WV)

After the games yesterday, I regret picking the Bears to win their division and not the Vikings

Joey (RutlandVT)

hard telling cowboys always start out hot and we do not know enuff about TB lets see how tony does in DECEMBER!!

Mike (Maine)

Lets see romo play a good team before we judge if he's better off without TO

Reischea
  (10:06 AM)

Serious toss up there. Since I didn't see Kanye's actions, I'll give to Serena. Kanye's done that before... his act is just old. So much talent, so little class. Gee, guess that goes for both on these particular nights.

Rhett (Ohio)

The eagles are in some trouble if McNabb is out for long.

Roller (Kentucky)

All teams are better off w/out TO.

juan (milwaukee)

Well see how Romo does against a better d in the Giants.

dana
  (10:07 AM)

caddy mike - it was!!! unreal. just unreal. I knew forcier looked good in week one, but so composed again under tougher competition. ND is good. They'll win 10 this year. BUT michigan showed guts and character. Lots of room for improvement but i'll take it.

Ray (Arlington, VA)

Pryor's issue is maturity. Barkley is more poised as a true freshman.

herman (richmond,CA)

Are the Cowboys that good or are the Bucs that bad?

dana
  (10:07 AM)

And Ray, forcier as a true freshman is more poised as well.

Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)

Pryor didn't get any help Saturday. The real problem that I saw was the playcalling by Tressel. The end of the first half and not calling a run play when Ohio State had a chance to put a field goal on the board. Isn't Ohio State supposed to have a great kicker?

juan (milwaukee)

Reischea, hope u been rubbing it in Jays face.

Bar Owners (Chicago)

We're still glad to have Jay Cutler on our team.

Jason (Morgantown, WV)

If Serena had behaved that way at Wimbeldon, she might not be invited back!

Johnny (Scranton, PA)

Kanye and Serena get the Classless Actions Awards from the weekend.

Reischea
  (10:08 AM)

I'm trying to win with a little dignity... plus, it was a near loss for us... that is until the Man stepped up in that fantastic final drive. Hail Matt Barkley, Hail Joe McKnight.

seth (SC)

anyone else notice how rodgers does the favre chinstrap thing where he snaps it off everytime in between snaps...channelling his brett

mod
  (10:09 AM)

didn't notice, I was watching the game

Mike (NC)

If Romo needs TO out of the picture to succeed, he isnt strong enough to lead an NFL team

juan (milwaukee)

Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC) not taking anything away from AP but with Jackson back there the Browns would have stacked the box.

john (panama city bch, fl)

Reis, as a USC fan, you're supposed to do the Barkley Kool-aid, just wait til he has some PRESSURE- and see how he handles it.

Roller (Kentucky)

Remember what I said last week, UNC will win the ACC, I think it was MOD who said that UCONN would win.

mod
  (10:12 AM)

no sir, I don't make predictions, I asked what would happen if UConn won, if they would be the Big East team that crashed the top 20

Ray (Arlington, VA)

Love watching Drew Brees! Brady, Manning, and Big Ben may be better QB's, but Brees is the best deep ball thrower and is like a match near gasoline. Awesome and underrated.

Charlie Weis (South Bend)

I think my chair is on fire.

Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)

Look at Skip trying to defend Cutler. It's not as if Cutler didn't turn in these types of games in Denver.

Donald (NJ)

Usc is not that good of a team. They will loose to cal and oregon. Maybe another slip up in the pack ten

Loopy (usa)

I know it's early but Delhomme's starting days might be over. That was horrible and the fans let him have it.

Reischea
  (10:12 AM)

106-thousand rowdy fans at the Horseshoe isn't pressure. Even Chris Gallipo said it was the most hostile environment he's ever played in. National tv game... tell me exactly how there was no pressure there?

Mike (Tennessee)

cutler came out "wanting" ...to really just show it up bad ... so bad he fouled it up .. he will rebound but i agree wildcard not division .

Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)

Why Lovie Smith accidentally hit the CIRCLE button on his PS3 controller choosing FAKE PUNT RUN as opposed to hitting the X button choosing PUNT, up 2 with a 4th and 11 in the 4th quarter is beyond me...

Reischea
  (10:13 AM)

Now the O-line didn't do a whole lot to help him... But we'll see what happens October 3... Cal. Lets see what that defense has for him.

Johnny (Scranton, PA)

I've said this before to those doubting Brett Favre could lead the Vikes. He has the BEST running game behind him that he's ever had. He showed yesterday that he can conform to his supporting players and let them do their jobs. Granted it was just the Browns but still, solid effort and possibly the best of any NFC North QB from yesterday.

john (panama city bch, fl)

Mike (NC)- NOT a 'Boys fan, but i SAID that w/T.O. gone, Dallas would improve, but YES when you have a personality that creates chaos OFF the field AND drops important passes ON the field...

Brandon (IL)

How bout a little love for Shaun Hill??? everyone talks crap and he's 8-3 career are a starter with bad teams.....Could the 9ers be a playoff team this year?

Mike (Tennessee)

Loopy usa .......you are stuck with delhomme after his 5 year 49.5 million extension with 20 million guranteed ....20 million GURANTEED ,,,doesnt point you to the bench very quickly ...

Jorge (Ft. Lauderdale)

Good Morning all... Congrats Dana for Michigan, sad for me as an ND fan but a great game non the less.

seth (SC)

Cutler is not going to go well in chicago...just waiting for the eventual meltdown where he blames his teamates again

Jonathan (ATL)

Rodgers had a very average game last night for GB. While Skip is rightfully dogging Cutler, they almost beat the Packers after giving up 4 TOs.....that's not a good sign for the Packers. This was an ugly win for the Pack just like the Broncos win

Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)

@Roller, if you were impressed by that UNC win, you must be on some really nice meds....

Reischea
  (10:14 AM)

Far easier to look great when you've got AP... At the very least, that fact alone means he won't take nearly as many hits, he won't have the ball.

Gary (Brooten, Minnesota)

I thought the center did that on his own Trevor...didnt he?

Rusty (Cary, NC)

Plz dont start on Delhomme. Panthers management have proven they are incapable of seeing what everyone else does, a bad decision maker with no arm left.

dana
  (10:15 AM)

Jorge - it was. Would still have been an amazing game had michigan lost.

Donald (NJ)

Michigan looks like they can beat osu this year. Don't know about penn st. though. Royster looks good.

Donald (NJ)

Why did the dolphins look so poor yesterday. We only had 13 Turnovers all of last year. Yesterday we had 4 common man!!!!!!! gotta get it together monay night

dana
  (10:16 AM)

Donald, don't get ahead of yourself. Weak secondary. questions on defense about how much pressure the line can get on a qb. ND's o line is very strong, and ND had its way for the most part running the ball, gave clausen all day to throw

Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)

In Delhomme's defense, did anyone notice his offensive line gave him no chance whatsoever?

john (panama city bch, fl)

Could NOT see the celebration foul against ND- LOOKED like the refs gave the game to Mich. Forcier's last set looked sloppy, but REALLY sold the guys in the booth!

Loopy (usa)

20 million guaranteed? I thought it was less. Well the Panthers are stuck like chuck then.

Jonathan (ATL)

After watching last night's game, I don't see Green Bay nor Chicago winning the division. It's the Vikings to lose with the wildcard coming from the NFC East and South.

Jeff (Houston)

UH football is back on the map! Go Coogs!

juan (milwaukee)

Carolina should trade for a new QB. Thats 9 picks in 2 games going back to the playoffs last season.

seth (SC)

I liked how tate forcier looked on saturday, but am i wrong about how cocky he was acting after the game....bit much

Mike (NC)

As a devoted Redskins fan, I have serious doubts about Jason Campbell. He has a big arm, throws a nice spiral, but the game looks to be too fast for his mind.

dana
  (10:19 AM)

John forcier's last set was an option qb, staying alive and getting the job done. sloppy, no. Sloppy on a receiver dropping a given TD, but same target made a key grab the play before. forcier had a couple misteps during the game but i wouldn't call his game sloppy in any way. The refs did not give them the game - penalties went both sides that killed both teams. ND maybe had a second left on the clock at the end, not sure but give em the second and i still think michigan wins.

Donald (NJ)

@ Dana thats very true. but the wolverines look like they can do some things this year. BCS? Maybe not this year. But before Forcier graduates he will win a nat. championship. BOOK IT!!!!! Has a lot of pat white in him

Roller (Kentucky)

Reischea, I don't think you will ever give Favre credit even if he wins the SB.

dana
  (10:20 AM)

i think donald they'll do better than my 5 win prediction! And forcier if he keeps improving, yes, should get them to that level if hte d can keep up

Tim (Allentown)

Forcier is a stud! I truly believe him when he says he does not get nervous! I think by season end people might be sayin heisman

juan (milwaukee)

The Cubs are cursed with no World Series and the Bears are cursed with bad offense. Chicagos lucky to have Jordan.

mod
  (10:22 AM)

OK juan, but Jordan can't win 'em any more championships...

Gary (Brooten, Minnesota)

Rob doesnt really know what to say does he, hahahaha

Mickey (Memphis )

Please tell skip to get off my cowboys bandwagon.

Jonathan (ATL)

Skip.......Romo was playing Tampa Bay. Don't get too excited dude....the GMen come to town next week. Romo will get rocked by one of the best defenses in the league. Book it!

Reischea
  (10:22 AM)

I have always been a supporter of Favre... he's just gotten on my nerves the last few years. Bottom line, there was never anyone tougher than Favre. No one played harder, but lets face it, he's not the Super Bowl champion Favre anymore.... That doesn't mean he won't win a Super Bowl with Minnesota... but take AP out of the picture....where is Minnesota then... for one thing, Favre isn't playing there.

Mike (Tennessee)

hey wait a second man .......its week 1 .....talk to me about romo when week 9 comes around ... i love how we think everyone is cured after 4 qtrs

Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)

Tony Romo beat up on a BAD Buccaneer team

dana
  (10:22 AM)

Tim not quite yet on heisman but i believe him too. It's in your blood...he admitted some wow moments b/f the opener but i love that he has icewater now. let's see what he does on the road in a hostile environment now

Brian (SoCal)

Whoa Tim. He had great game but that talk is a little early. maybe in a couple years.

Jason (Morgantown, WV)

Poor Bears, when they had a good receiving corps, they had no QB. Now that they have a talented QB, they have no receivers.

Demetric (Orlando)

What was the big deal to Jordans HOF speech?

Roller (Kentucky)

I said before the season that Pryor should be in the Heisman talk but after Sat., can I please take that prediction back?

dana
  (10:23 AM)

yes roller

mod
  (10:23 AM)

it was memorable, give him that...Jordan didn't just lay it up at the HOF induction

John (Pennsylvania)

Will Willie Parker be a better runner the rest of the season or do I have to be worried

Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)

Jordan was taking shots at everyone....I found his HOF induction speech a bit classless

Rusty (Cary, NC)

@dana Sorry if you were too blinded by UM love, but the officiating was obviously lopsided during that game

dana
  (10:25 AM)

rusty, telling you waht i saw from my seat in the stands. i know you all don't think i can ever be unbiased despite picking nd to win the game...but yes i can.

mod
  (10:25 AM)

did you guys really think Jordan didn't have a nasty mean streak all these years??I thought it was perfect...and I also think he was having some fun...he said at the beginning, what can I say that you don't already know about me...well, he succeeded in giving us something we never saw before, not easy to do for Jordan

juan (milwaukee)

I agree Romo needs to prove it in Dec and Jan but he did win on the road which is not easy no matter who you play.

Donald (NJ)

@Rusty Weis blew the game with his play calling in the 4th quarter

Anthony (Indianapolis)

Pryor is a victim of a coach that is way too conservative.

Larry (Houston )

oh cmon guys, jordans speech was entertaining.

Demetric (Orlando)

The guy from Yahoo, said Jordan should be shameful and was less of him! But if you were a Jordan fan, you knew what was coming

John (Pennsylvania)

You found Jordan classless....Kanye West had no class whatsoever with what he did to Taylor Swift

Roller (Kentucky)

Before everyone starts getting all giddy about E. Manning, the Giants D deserves the credit for that win.

Alan (Scranton PA)

John I think Pittsburgh has some O Line issues

Alan (Scranton PA)

See many replays in slo mo up in the stands, Dana?

Donald (NJ)

Willie parker is a great back but he doesn't score TD's.

Reischea
  (10:26 AM)

Serena's actions were completely over the top.

dana
  (10:26 AM)

alan, actually they do show replays unlike some schools.

Jason (Morgantown, WV)

$10,000 is a joke of a fine/punishment for Serena

jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)

skip is so wishy washy - werent you calling Rome Little Romeo last year and now your on his bandwagon because he played a wack Tampa team yesterday? Come on Skip!!!!!

Jason (Morgantown, WV)

I am worried about the Steeler running game too, but not because of Willie. It's the O-Line I'm concerned about.

dana
  (10:26 AM)

if you want to say you didn't like the officiating say it - if you're saying officiating gave michigan the game - you're as blinded as you claim I am.

Gary (Brooten, Minnesota)

be VERY worried John

Brandon (IL)

LOL why is Mark Sanchez on that list? He was solid but most impressive ? I'm not sure he gets in the top 10 from yesterday

Jonathan (ATL)

Roller.....you're right. The Giants D deserves the game ball....look for them to provide that type of performance for the rest of the season.

Mike (Tennessee)

10 grand to serena is like 50 cents to me ..

dana
  (10:27 AM)

brandon, because he's a rookie qb on the road

Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)

@Jason, that might not be all the punishment she gets, she's facing possible further sanctions as well.

Mike (Tennessee)

i can vouch for dana ...she picked nd to win the game ... and i think she even said it would be a good game for the first half .

jason007thomas (Huntsville,Al)

Willie Parker got me a whole 2 points on my fantasy team this weekend - should have just stuck with Sproles i guess

Roller (Kentucky)

Stop crying about the officiating, Mich. wooped their hineys!

Brandon (IL)

McKnight is the most dynamic player in football....without him they lose the game...without Barkley they still win

dana
  (10:28 AM)

jason007 i believe skip loves him now b/c jessica and to are gone.

Alan (Scranton PA)

lol you tell him Dana...I don't think the officiating was "lopsided", but some of those calls were a tad of a stretch.

Demetric (Orlando)

Dana, I was waiting for you guys to mention Serena Williams; why is it that when she wins a major you guys can't show her highlights (Wembeldon, Aurstallia Open) but when she lose you can?

Anthony (Indianapolis)

Why is it so shameful when Serena has one outburst, but McEnroe was made famous for doing it on a regular basis?

Donald (NJ)

Weis's Play calling on ND's last drive was very questionable

dana
  (10:29 AM)

demetric - we do show her highlights. in fact she's gotten more topics about how good she is, or she and venus on firs tand ten than most female athletes.

Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)

I'm a Jordan fan and if you had read his book everything he said was in the book. And why not take shots Krause and Reinsdorf forced him into retirement the second time around by not resigning Phil Jackson and dismantling a ^ time championship team

Donald (NJ)

Brandon are you kidding me. most dynamic?

Roller (Kentucky)

You can pick out calls in any game and say it was a bit much.

Jason (Morgantown, WV)

With Serena's muscle mass and violent outburst, is anyone thinking steroids?

Jonathan (ATL)

Here's what's interesting about the Serena tiraide. Compared to the clips I use to see of McEnroe, she looked mild....and I don't think he ever got fined for his antics

T.J. (Brooklyn)

I have Brees and Peterson on my fantasy teams. Paid top dollar at the auction and its paying off already.

Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)

I am a Michigan fan, but I too believe that I can be unbiased and objective and I watched that game pretty much start to finish, and I didn't think either team had an advantage as far as the officials went. I guess I'll chalk up the "Refs gave it to Michigan" talk to people hating Michigan just because they're Michigan, just like the Yankees, etc.

Uomr (Detroit)

McNabe got dirty hit on that play that crack his ribs.

Tim (Allentown)

Serena just killed her legacy. What she did was horrible for her name and down right wrong. I feel like she showed her true colors. She always tries to act like the world is out to get her and she finally blew up in the semifinal

T.J. (Brooklyn)

Vick is looking like The Million Dollar in surance policy

Jeff (Houston)

Anthony- she threatened violence towards a lines judge. That's assault in my book.

Donald (NJ)

Cover 2 yay!!!!!!!!!!!

Roller (Kentucky)

That was a late hit on McNabb in the endzone yesterday, that should have been called, now he's got broken ribs and no call.

dana
  (10:31 AM)

jeff for it to be assault i believe you have to lay hands on the person

Demetric (Orlando)

Dana, good way to dodge the question, when Serena won Wembeldon, it didn't make the show the following Monday but when she loses its makes the cut

Brandon (IL)

I have no respect for Serena anymore....You could always kinda tell she had a big attitude problem in her interviews but she let it spill out all over now!

dana
  (10:32 AM)

demetric, i'm glad you keep a journal of the show...each set of topics are done differently. perhaps that day there was other stuff they wanted to talk about. But please don't say we don't show highlights. You want a topic and a segment. highlights were shown i'm sure.

Donnie (Burbank CA)

u mean battery dana

Reischea
  (10:33 AM)

I've been tweeting quite a bit on this today. While the call was horrendous, horrible, awful, find your adjective... the line judge did not deserve that tear down. Serena was 100 percent out of line.

Jason (Morgantown, WV)

McEnroe called plenty of officials stupid and used plenty of foul language, but I can't remember him ever threatening to shove a tennis ball down an official's throat

dana
  (10:33 AM)

Donnie, have no idea, was throwing out a guess. I'll check it out in a moment.

Donald (NJ)

I think its time for jason cambell to get the boot in washington

Reischea
  (10:34 AM)

A point I made this morning... the fact that she threatened (regardless if it was simply a figure of speech) was totally off base. You simply cannot go there!

Ray (Arlington, VA)

@Anthony definitely a double standard for women athletes. McEnroe, Connors, and others routinely had outbursts and yelled at umpires/linesmen.

Reischea
  (10:34 AM)

She almost got away with that first tear down but then went back for more, that's what did her in.

Mike (Maine)

i dont think vick is going to be ready to step in and start if the mcnabb injury keeps him out for more than a couple weeks

Alan (Scranton PA)

Donald...boot Campbell and replace him with.............?

T.J. (Brooklyn)

I disagree Donald. Zorn should be shown the door!

Tim (Allentown)

I feel like serana wants people to finally talk about her as if she is one of the greatest players ever. She wants that respect and since she is not getting that yet she is bitter for it.

Jason (Morgantown, WV)

Last year everyone was saying Campbell was "MmmMmm Good", what happened?

Jonathan (ATL)

Uhhhh, Jason....yes he did...plenty of times. McEnroe makes Serena look like an angel

juan (milwaukee)

Demetric (Orlando) ever heard of Sports Center?

Larry (Houston )

Hey can someone find out how dana's 1st pitch went this past weekend? the mod must be asleep

mod
  (10:35 AM)

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...huh?...ask Dana...she'll give it up eventually

Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)

I hate the prevent defense it was the reason the Titans lost to the Steelers but why the Bengals weren't in a prevent defense is beyond my understanding. I guess Ocho is still the distraction.

Roller (Kentucky)

Looks like another year in the cellar for Palmer and the Bengals, not that I really care though.

Anthony (Indianapolis)

Not defending Serenas actions, But this was her first incedent and everyones acting like she has a history of this behavior.

Reischea
  (10:37 AM)

She can be bitter all she wants thats not how you handle it. I will agree, I find it interesting people saying she and Venus simply haven't been focused in the past on their tennis enough, yet they've dominated their sport. People didn't want to give them their due. But this outrageous.

Jonathan (ATL)

I'm not saying what Serena did was right. It was actually very ugly and uncalled for. BUT when you compare it to what ESPN analyst McEnroe did in his day...well, there is just no comparison

mod
  (10:37 AM)

Jason my man...Mac the Brat used to 'accidentally' serve balls at officials...throw rackets at them...he did it all

Demetric (Orlando)

Jason Cambell is underrated, what other QB has his offensive changed every year...none, not to mention he sat his first three years

Reischea
  (10:38 AM)

John McEnroe never threatened to shove a tennis ball down a line judge or umpires throat... at least not that was actually heard. McEnroe was fined in the past and disqualified from a Major for his misconduct....

mod
  (10:38 AM)

Demetric, you can't be underrated until you actually win something and don't get credit for it

Jonathan (ATL)

Broncos got lucky...plain and simple. Consider that one of their 6 wins they'll get this year (at best they'll go 6-10).

dana
  (10:40 AM)

you are all correct on assault - see this is how innocent i am. it is merely threatening hurting someone

Donald (NJ)

Dana what happened yesterday at the ball park!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we are dying to know

dana
  (10:41 AM)

coming up next segment

T.J. (Brooklyn)

Sanchez is this years version of Matt Ryan. Jets win, Giants win, Its a beautiful monday!

Mike (Tennessee)

wonder how hot marvin lewis's seat will get this year after a lack luster preformance against a lack luster team .

Tim (Allentown)

Just because McEnroe did it does not make it right. He obviosly has anger issues and what he did was also uncalled for. And so is Serena. Who cares if it is her first outburst how many other people have outburst like that. I am sure many tennis players go their whole career without an outburst like that.

Demetric (Orlando)

Mod, he took them to the playoffs 1 year, the same as Romo, but Romo had more weapons, but how is Romo consider good

Reischea
  (10:42 AM)

A correction to my last post... at least not that I heard. But how has what she done, and the manner in which it was handled any different. Both were fined.. but he was disqualified. She wouldn't have lost the point had she not already had a misconduct. That said, Clijsters already had her. But back to Serena's conduct... there is no argument that can be made that it was ok or not over the top... and this is not a woman thing.

mod
  (10:42 AM)

most people think Romo's overrated

Dave(Danville PA) [via mobile]

How good did the saints look? Yeah it was against the lions, but still . Hope matt stafford learn somethin from drew brees cause that guy put on a clinic. That is 1 scary offense.

Alan (Scranton PA)

Nice pitch (snicker)

Rusty (Cary, NC)

Because Romo is? Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in awhile. Cowboys off to a hot start. Shocking.......

Roller (Kentucky)

That what happens when you have a franchise qb from USC like the Bengals, they will never be in the SB.

T.J. (Brooklyn)

Dana had the vidoe edited

Donnie (Burbank CA)

go dana!!!

Reischea
  (10:44 AM)

One thing I did notice in all the coverage.. didn't catch it all... I don't recall McEnroe being overally critical. From what I did hear, he stayed away from it, because he knows he's had his tirades. Did anyone hear what he had to say?

Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)

Dana, you seem to be a Detroit Tigers good luck charm...go back to the stadium as often as you like...they could use some more wins down the stretch.

Donald (NJ)

Common Dana? what is that

Larry (Houston )

that broncos bengals game was GARBAGE...nobody scored till what, the 3rd quarter

Big Kev (DC)

I still think The Giants aren't like that. they played a poor offensive line again for the Redskins and Campbell panic button is quick!

juan (milwaukee)

Danas pitch was better than Mike and Mikes and WIlbons.

Larry (Princeton,WV)

yes...girls in hats look awesome

Johnny (Scranton, PA)

Dana: The real question is can you come back to throw tonight if needed?

Alan (Scranton PA)

Video looks a little fuzzy...meaning it's been enlarged ;)

Mike (Wilmington NC)

Dana - you look GREAT in that ball cap

Gary (Brooten, Minnesota)

Dana...you go girl! You look great Dana!

Jason (Morgantown, WV)

Tape the ice pack to Dana's shoulder.

Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)

I would love to see this headline....Dana Jacobson unseats Fernando Rodney as Tigers closer

STACY-MICHAEL BOLTON FAN (GEORGETOWN KY)

YAY DANA

Mike (Tennessee)

her hair looked better than it does on the show ... plain is awesome ...nothing better than women in ball caps .

Carlos (Atlanta)

BOOOOO thay pitch was aweful; let's throw tomatos at her?

dana
  (10:47 AM)

carlos, you couldn't see it so you can't boo it!

T.J. (Brooklyn)

I wonder how much Dana paid the video guy to edit that video? Where did the ball go?

Tim (Allentown)

I feel like ohio state just expects to lose to good teams when it is close! I feel like they had no heart on that final drive. they dominated the game then looked scared on that final drive. The fans had the same feeling. Just like the sooner fans with all national championship games.

dana
  (10:48 AM)

TJ you missed what i said - i am bummed. I didn't pay them, that was what they gave me.

Jeff (Houston)

Dana- the cap is a good look on you ;)

Big Kev (DC)

Dana throw a ball for the Redskins we can use you!!

Joey (RutlandVT)

McKnight was the man for USc barklay did good but Mcknight was the MVP of that game/drive

juan (milwaukee)

Detroit needs to put Dana on the Payroll.

dana
  (10:49 AM)

juan - just for luck. i got em back on the winning track after dropping 5 striaght!

Johnny (Scranton, PA)

The big problem with Serena came in the press conference when she didn't own up to her HUGE mistake. Trying to turn it on the line judge just made it sound worse.

T.J. (Brooklyn)

ok dana. I'll give you that. At least you didnt tuck in the jersey like Wilbon. Yuk!

Jonathan (ATL)

Dana, what was better: throwing the first pitch at the Tigers game or watching Michigan dismantle Notre Dame?

dana
  (10:50 AM)

jonathan - 2 entirely different things!

Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)

I love Tate Forcier, but whenever I see him, all I think of is the line from Tommy Boy when Chris Farley is about to fight David Spade and says "He's just a wittwe (little) guy" lol

Rusty (Cary, NC)

Barkley Mcknight 50/50 both were clutch on that drive

Joey (RutlandVT)

Pryor deliverd the throws the recievers dropped alot after Pryor bought time and deliverd the the pass to his wr who dropped it

dana
  (10:50 AM)

trevor you're right - and he's gained like 20 lbs or something1

Reischea
  (10:50 AM)

I agree. I found her selective memory interesting. Never seemed to have memory issues before. BUT... perhaps it was such a heat of the moment thing for her she really didn't know what was coming out her mouth.

Reischea
  (10:50 AM)

Yep.. can't disagree with that.

Velito (Denver)

How is the headline on ESPN homepage claiming Aaron Rodgers shined? Guy throws one good ball over a DB who falls down and everyone forgets his miserable first 3 quarters...pathetic.

mod
  (10:52 AM)

Velito...you're a little bitter this morning..selective retention working for ya...re-read the headlines...the 'shined' phrase is a cutline under one photo...headlines are in bold my friend

Anthony (Indianapolis)

Barkley wasn't clutch, the passes he made on that last drive were easy to make, without McKnight they lose.

T.J. (Brooklyn)

Ok with Serena. We get it. Did anyone see that Federer shot against Djokovic? That was sick

Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)

It would be nice to see a contrite Serena Williams sometime this week...hopefully she does see/realize the severity of her actions.

Joey (RutlandVT)

Dana I told you Rich Rod knew what he was doing he know has his players in his system Michigan will be backto a elite program forcier is the new Pat white

dana
  (10:53 AM)

Joey, you told me?? That's what i've been saying since last year. I'm surprised he's gotten as many as he has in his system so fast. But again, we're 2 games in. Young teams are inconsistent and I fear we might see some of that this year

Jason (Morgantown, WV)

I agree with Skip 100%

Loopy (usa)

The crowd booed the crap out of her. Wow. Or were they booing the call?

STACY-MICHAEL BOLTON FAN (GEORGETOWN)

HEY DANA...GOOD JOB!!!!

Roller (Kentucky)

The little fines that they give pro athletes are a joke, suspensions are what hurt them.

Mike (Tennessee)

lol MAN ....THE MOD JUST ROCKS .

Loopy (usa)

The crowd booed the crap out of her. Wow.

Joey (RutlandVT)

wow serna I hope u do not grt suspended from the double stuff lick leaguie for that

Dom (Delaware)

Jay's right you look good in the cap Dana

Demetric (Orlando)

Please Michigan isn't back, they played a overrated Notre Dame team, 5-8 for the rest of the year

Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)

Serena has been contrite. What do you wnt her to do? Kiss the judges feet?

mod
  (10:55 AM)

Shane they asked her point blank in the post match press conference if she should apologize and she was far from contrite

juan (milwaukee)

She needs to be suspended especially if she made a death threat.

mod
  (10:56 AM)

it wasn't a death threat...take it down a notch

Joey (RutlandVT)

I meant that I told all on the chat last week when 90% of the chat said RICh ROD was no good blah blah blah. I was in his corner.

Brian (SoCal)

Yes Dana, you pull off that look very well.

Big Kev (DC)

If you wanna fine these athletes and let them feel it. Stop fining them so cheap! Fine them like $100,000 still not alot but it shows in there pockets!

dana
  (10:56 AM)

got it joey...well then see we told em!

Jeremy (Traverse City, MI)

ND is no walk in the park. I also believe inconsistency will plague the Wolverines

mod
  (10:57 AM)

Jerry Jones got fined $100,000 for his comments, now thats a fine...he might have to let some of those bulbs in his scoreboard stay out a while before he replaces them when they get hit by a punt

juan (milwaukee)

Thats what the judge told the officals Mod.

dana
  (10:57 AM)

Jeremy, how are things in one of the most beautiful parts of the country?

mod
  (10:58 AM)

the judge also thought it was a foot fault, so the judge isn't exactly credible at this point

Larry (Houston )

'we dont freestyle texas fight big boy' i LOVE THAT commercial

Donald (NJ)

Mod I feel like taking this keyboard and.................................

Demetric (Orlando)

Serena should have just body slam her and finished with the Hulk Hogan leg drop

Uomr (Detroit)

Weiss job safe, ND still got a strong offence that can win games.

Jeff (Houston)

Tough break for Urlacher and the Bears

Jonathan (ATL)

I guess hope springs eternal, Umor. If ND doesn't win at least 9 games, he's toast.

Anthony (Indianapolis)

Weiss job is safe because they made their schedule soft for him.

Seth (OH)

Why isnt anybody bashing the big 12 after they had to teams lose to non BCS schools this week

Donald (NJ)

ochocinco had a good game yesterday didn't get in the endzone but a good game

Jonathan (ATL)

Over/Under TO having 6 catches tonight?

juan (milwaukee)

TO will have 2 catches for 15 yards and thats it.

Roller (Kentucky)

I think Weiss is gone no matter what he does the rest of the year, when the alumni don't like you, you got problems.

THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))

Esteban should change his prediction from 12-4 to 8-8, Skip might have gotten this one on point.

Jason (Morgantown, WV)

I hate to admit it, but the Mountain West is much better than the Big East this year.

Matt (Philly)

TO should have a big game because the Eagles have all of New England's cornerbacks

Dom (Delaware)

TO will have 5 catches for 35 yards

Donald (NJ)

Under i got TO having 4 catches for 60 yards and a touchdown

Mike (Tennessee)

i seriously think the steelers finish 10-6 ....

Loopy (usa)

That's was a nice heads up play by Stokley. I used to do that in Madden to waste a little time in the end.

THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))

When Brandon Stokley ran laterally across the goal line, his awareness to look back was priceless.

Johnny (Scranton, PA)

Seth: Because Big XII fans choose to ignore when their conference looks like garbage.

Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)

Now Urlachers out according to Reisch...is Rob ready to change from his Bears Pick now?

Joey (RutlandVT)

T.O. is gonna have a huge game it will be the Moss/ T.O. show tonight Get ur Popcorn ready!!

Roller (Kentucky)

OK State was the most overrated team in the country, they were not a top ten team.

Seth (OH)

better chance of haveing 6 drops

T.J. (Brooklyn)

The big 12 losing to Non BCS schools proves that the D in that conference stinks. If you can score, you can win

STACY-MICHAEL BOLTON FAN (GEORGETOWN)

OVER-TO WILL GET 11 CATCHES....

seth (OH)

The only hope the big east has right now is Cincinatti they look like the beast of the east right now

Roller (Kentucky)

Prediction: Anderson will be back at qb for the Browns by at least week 8.

Uomr (Detroit)

Still love my Lions, Drew Brees just gonna be a monster this year in that offence.

Donald (NJ)

I can't wait until the saints and the pats play. That will be one for the ages

juan (milwaukee)

The Browns will have a QB by commitee.

THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))

If Brett Favre plays similar to Kerry Collins, then the Vikings might make some noise. THE_REAL_FAN believes Favre will remember how to throw interceptions soon.

Pillar of Wisdom (Orlando)

How about those Falcons, looked good with Gozo up the middle?

Dom (Delaware)

the saints will be good but yesterdays performance against the lions was not what you'll see week in and week out, you have to take there stats with a grain of salt...

Jonathan (ATL)

Roller, you Anderson will do any better than Quinn? I think that's just moving the deck chairs around the Titanic.

mod
  (11:10 AM)

I like that analogy

chris (illinois)

can somebody please tell me if its true Urlacher is really out for the rest of the season???

john (panama city bch, fl)

Stacy- T.O. get 11 catches...AND Michael Bolton does a Best of...disc, keep ur dreams ALIVE,lol

Jason (Morgantown, WV)

I can't wait till the Vikings go to Lambeau.

dana
  (11:11 AM)

pillar - i think falcons need to be getting some more love. i was really looking forward to that game agains the dolphins and miami kind of laid an egg. now if it was atlanta's d, then falcons improved where they were huritng most..you know offense would b there especially with gonzo joining

T.J. (Brooklyn)

I disagree again Donald. The Pats actuall play defense

Reischea
  (11:11 AM)

Chicago Tribune reporting that he sent a text saying the season is over. No word from the Bears. He was to have surgery on his dislocated right wrist this morning.

dana
  (11:11 AM)

tj- not sure what donald said but yes, new england plays d

Joey (RutlandVT)

The best play was when Ap threw that dude after juking the other defender. Favre and Peterson r the new ELway/T.davis!

T.J. (Brooklyn)

Urlacher looked slow and old last night. His best days are behind him

Johnny (Scranton, PA)

Maybe next week Mangini will wait until the last minute to reveal his starting O-Line.

dana
  (11:12 AM)

chris - yes, he is out the rest of the season - he said so at least in a text message

Mike (Tennessee)

i dont think trent edwards can complete 11 passes much less t.o get 11 catches ... cause thats at least 6 drops

Donald (NJ)

Hey leave the Fish alone We will get it together monday night week 2 against the colts

Larry (Houston )

its just a wrist...i dont think that should put him out 4 the season

Brian (SoCal)

bears in trouble without urlacher. packers ran pretty wll after he went out.

Ken (Richmond, VA)

If Urlacher is out for the season and with Cutler playing like Rex Grossman then Chicago's season is over as soon as it started.

dana
  (11:13 AM)

donald, you'd better. no time for a let down in that division!

juan (milwaukee)

chris (illinois) Yes its true the bears are in trouble.

Jonathan (ATL)

AP threw the triple stiff arm on that 60 yard run. That was sick.

Uomr (Detroit)

Forcier juke move for a TD was one of the best this week end.

Jeff (Houston)

That Peterson run was one of the greatest plays I've seen. He was basically stoppedl and tossed the defender aside!

dana
  (11:14 AM)

college level - forcier's 4th down TD was awesomestokley or AP last TD run get the nfl nod for me

Reischea
  (11:14 AM)

It was pretty sweet... defensive coaches will tell you... you cannot arm tackle AP, if you don't wrap up, he will embarrass you and he did.

Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)

Anybody else think my Raiders will beat San Diego at Oakland tonight and Seymour will sack Rivers twice?

dana
  (11:14 AM)

caddy mike - drew's on your side.

THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))

T.O. complained about the no-huddle offense, but is it really a distraction? This guy still has gas in his car, just check his fuel gauge. He still can make it to a few more exits.

dana
  (11:15 AM)

real fan- TO was joking around a bit on that no huddle. go read the afc east blog on espn.com, from last week - it had all his comments. sounds like to was messin a little.

Donnie (Burbank CA)

yeaaaaaaaa drewwwwwww!!!! raider nation!!!!!!!!!!

Joey (RutlandVT)

History tells us that T.O. will do great in his yr 1 w/ the bills. he is playing for a contract. Look for lee evans to have a BIG GAME i THINK pATS WIN BUT BILLS KEEP IT CLOSE.

Uomr (Detroit)

AP did a JIM BROWN move, use the stiff arm as a weapon.

T.J. (Brooklyn)

Any time I hear the name Tila Tequila on ESPN, I just gotta laugh

THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))

Key Matchups, haha.

Dom (Delaware)

If Skip isn't impressed with Sanchez now, he's not gonna be, Sanchez will join Skip's list of players that no matter what they do Skip see's the bad side...

T.J. (Brooklyn)

I think A Pete was punching those guys. They were going down like he was Chuck Norris

Donald (NJ)

Greatest running backs of all time in order. Jim Brown, Walter Payton, O.J. Simpson, Emmit Smith, and number 5 is up for grabbs

mod
  (11:19 AM)

guy by the name of Barry Sanders might make that list

T.J. (Brooklyn)

This Keyshawn commercial is hilarious

Jonathan (ATL)

Knowing the hater that Skip is he'll probably say Sanchez had a so-so game yesterday and Stafford had a great game with 3 picks

Larry (Houston )

im not that impressed wit sanchez, after all it was the lowly texans he beat

THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))

O.J. Simpson has to be the greatest running back. He was the best RUNNER of all-time.

Big Kev (DC)

Emmit Smith is not in the top 10 of best running backs

chris (illinois)

DONALD....DOES THE NAME BARRY SANDERS RING A BELL...HELLO!

john (panama city bch, fl)

Donald..."Sweetness"? (Walter Payton)

Mike (Tennessee)

donald ARE YOU MENTAL ??????????? BARRYYYYY SANNNDERRRSSSSSS

Rusty (Cary, NC)

No Barry Sanders in top 5?

Donald (NJ)

hahaha T.J. that was funny

Tomwit NJ [via mobile]

Raider Nation members please remember to notify your POs as to your whereabouts this evening and please try not to scare the children.

T.J. (Brooklyn)

Good stat Rob. 12 completions on third down. Skip is gonna poo-poo Sanchez

Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)

If Sanchez takes the Jets to the playoffs, what does that say about Favre?

mod
  (11:21 AM)

ask that question if and when its relevent in about 3 months

Big Kev (DC)

Barry Sanders is the best running back hands down then Jim Brown

Roller (Kentucky)

B. Sanders is the best rb of all time

juan (milwaukee)

THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER)) Yeah in a White Bronco.

Pillar of Wisdom (Orlando)

Big Kev, you sound like a bitter Redskins fan

Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)

The Bengals got the Skip Bayless curse after Ochocinco was on First take

Jonathan (ATL)

Two words to the Bengals/Broncos 87 yard play: so what! Both teams are on the same level of the Texans.

Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)

No way is Barry Sanders better than Jim Brown. Brown never went backwards. Sanders is the leader in yards lost behind the line of scrimmage.

Uomr (Detroit)

I'm with you there Roller, Barry got all those yards with mostly bad offenive teams.

T.J. (Brooklyn)

I guess Portis is a top 10 back huh? Are you serious?

Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)

Gale Sayers best runner I ever saw...Walter Payton(R.I.P) better all around player, including blocking, durability, etc.

chris (illinois)

jim brown, barry sanders, sweetness, sayers, and......TECMO BO!!!

Uomr (Detroit)

Rob you got skip to buy that. Your the king.

Roller (Kentucky)

Can you imagine B. Sanders running behind that line that E. Smith had?

T.J. (Brooklyn)

Tecmo Bo. Sweet. Remeber when he bulldozed the Boz?

Pillar of Wisdom (Orlando)

Barry Sanders didn't have the great o-line or lead blocker that Emmit had,

Joey (RutlandVT)

JOHN RIGGINS? WHERE IS HE? he has to b on that list and marshall Faulk, Thurman thomas,Hello

Seth (OH)

how can you say michigan is a good team they havent really played anyone yet

dana
  (11:29 AM)

seth, people get excited early. michigan beat a top 25 team in notre dame. um has a long way to go, especially defensively...but this team is greatly improved compared to last year.

Tomwit NJ [via mobile]

I do not know what it will take to get rid of Charlie Weiss. His predecessor sure wasnt shown any tolerance. We know why.

Donald (NJ)

Seth #18 Notre Dame

T.J. (Brooklyn)

If Weis doesnt get fired, I will eat my hat! Im serious!

Seth (OH)

nevada could just be really bad this year and ND put up good numbers and Michigan has looked better i root fot them cause they are big ten but i just need to get into the season more befor i say they are good

Uomr (Detroit)

Barry had a line, one year, Got over 2000 yards, And ownership let two of those guy go the next season. No wonder barry retired.

Demetric (Orlando)

As I stated before, Michigan will win only 5 games this year

Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)

Can you say Florida is good? They played 2 high school teams...Michigan is improved and Notre Dame has very good players

Donald (NJ)

I brought that up on purspose to show you that there is no answer to the Greatest running back quetion. Too many great ones.

Seth (OH)

What did Notre Dame do to deserve a #18 ranking

T.J. (Brooklyn)

Give me Eric Dickerson, Tony Dorsett, Marcus Allen, Herschel Walker and on and on before you give me John Riggins.

Big Kev (DC)

IF Barry Sanders had a Offensive Line he would run for 3000 yards

Big Kev (DC)

Do any of you like Eric Dickerson he was real good too

dana
  (11:32 AM)

guys barry had a line for some of that time...and if you want to argue that i'll go find lomas.

Demetric (Orlando)

How is Florida still ranked #1, they played Troy and Charleston?

juan (milwaukee)

Doesnt matter if you play good teams or not just win the games on your schedule and you will be in a BSC bowl.(Utah and Boise ST).

Dom (Delaware)

ND = the most overrated team in sports

dana
  (11:33 AM)

demetric - and blew them out. you don't drop in the standings unless its close against inferior teams. UF did what it was supposed to.

Loopy (usa)

The Intern won't get fired with that soft schedule he's got.

Brandon (Goldsboro N.C.) [via mobile]

Wow. I must say as a USC fan that was one hell of a game between Michigan and Notre Dame from start to finish.

Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)

I don't think Michigan fans are being delusional Seth, if you've seen the first 2 Michigan games in there entirety, I think you'd be big on Michigan too. I wouldn't be surprised to see Michigan at 7-0 facing Penn State at home...it may be a lofty, hopeful goal/expectation, but I don't think its out of the realm of possibility....there's a ton of talent on that team.

Reischea
  (11:34 AM)

Gotta say, wasn't really feeling MJ's speech. I feel like he just really can't stand not being relevant on the court anymore. What I mean is, he can't run with the big boys today. In his prime no problem... but today even though his image is everywhere and transcends hoops, he can't handle not being on the highlight reel, not being in the thick of it. I guess that's one of the things that made him who he was as a player.

Brian Cremean (Ann Arbor)

That was really amusing, Skip taking away any credit from Michigan for beating ND. Isn't it possible that Michigan is just that much better this year? Also, I agree with Dom

Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)

Barry did have an offensive line. The Lions were the best in their division for a while. Even knocked Troy,Emmitt and Michael out of the playoffs the year before they won the superbowl.

Joey (RutlandVT)

Big kEV is right DICKERSON was Awesome best single season rush yards ever, though Peterson may get 2,500 yrds if Favre stays healthy

dana
  (11:37 AM)

Trevor, my friends were going through the schedule sort of doing what you are. I tried to be a voice of reason throwing out inconsistency with young teams, etc. BUT i'll say this 4-0 going to MSU is possible which outdoes last season in wins. MSU is a who knows b/c of the rivalry level. Iowa is also b/f penn state and i'm not sure we've seen the real iowa, they always play um well. so you're 7-0 I could see as 5-2 which again...exceeds last year so that's improvement.

Seth (OH)

And Peterson will prob rack up about 600 yrds in its games against the lions that cant hurt

Ray (Arlington, VA)

Demitric, Michigan plays Deleware St. and Eastern Michigan and already has 2 wins, so I'll take the over on 5.

Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)

Dickerson might have set all time record if it wasn't for that bulging disc in his spine. Guy was definitely a beast.

Uomr (Detroit)

Dana, Lomas had to block two guys alot of the time he was playing in detroit. He needed help. He just didn't say it.

Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)

Speaking of the Detroit Lions offensive line.....you go 0-16 in 2008 and you have 1 different starting offensive lineman in 2009 (Daniel Loper) and its a guy that nobody's ever heard of...what the hell exactly is the personnel department doing there.

dana
  (11:40 AM)

umor i'll ask him

Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)

Dana, My Hoosiers are 2-0 also...I don't think we play Michigan this year though

dana
  (11:40 AM)

caddy, you do 2 weeks from now, just before msu i believe.

Donald (NJ)

Lincecum looks like a jonas brother

Dylan Jacobsen (Alaska)

Im proud to be a viking fan when i see adrian peterson run. hes a once in a generation RB.

Jonathan (ATL)

I'm still trying to figure out what's the big deal about the basketball HOF. I never remembered it being this hyped before in years past. It wasn't like MJ was retiring and giving a Lou Gehrig-type speech.

Brian Cremean (Ann Arbor)

Seeing what I saw from row 15 on Saturday, I'm confident thinking that Penn State and aOSU will be our only losses this year.

mod
  (11:41 AM)

that speech had people buzzing

Donald (NJ)

wow what happened to Urlacher seems like he can't stay healthy anymore

Seth (OH)

Yeah but those Hoosiers almost got beat By EKU that would have been a laugh

THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))

Reischea, are the players in the NBA more talented now than in Jordan's era? The players today are more athletic, but the heart left in the late 90s.

dana
  (11:41 AM)

dylan - he is fun to watch i'll say that.

mike randle (chicago )

now urlacher is done are you serious now our season is over

Ray (Arlington, VA)

Caddy Mike, Michigan plays Indiana in two weeks at Indiana.

Donald (NJ)

Indiana will never beat michigan unless randle-el comes through that door

Reischea
  (11:43 AM)

I can't say they are more athletic... it goes back to comparing eras. Perhaps more flashy. The teams from the late 80's early 90's were still pretty athletic and more basketball mature.

jay
  (11:43 AM)

heyyyyyyyyy chatters whats up! sorry about the late entrance. busy. busy busy!!!!a few thoughts. usc, congrats! barkley is the real deal!!! love the kid! off. line overrated a bit. good, but not florida good. ohio state, played much better than i thought, properly ranked at number 11. pryor, not a good decision maker nor pocket passer. stop trying to make him one! michael jordan, get over it dude. its over. you were great! still the greatest!! pay respect to those that supported you, not motivated you! hall speech lacked class and dignity that a fellow chicagoan walter payton displayed. google his speech. thats a speech!and dana, great look with the hat at tigers game!!!

Johnny (Scranton, PA)

Another thing on MJ: Why should the NBA retire his number? There were plenty of other great players who didn't have their numbers retired universally? What makes MJ so special that no one should wear his number? Just another way to get him back into the spotlight and undeservedly so.

d grice (charlotte nc)

should the panthers go out and find a qb 2 replace jake the fake

T.J. (Brooklyn)

If Jordan is gonna go out, he might as well go out with a bang. Wasnt the coolest thing to do but I commend him for speaking his mind and not giving a robotic speech that nobody believs

Johnny (Scranton, PA)

Busy, busy, busy = still wiping away the tears from the weekend, right Jay?

jay
  (11:44 AM)

nope. i was proud of the way the played. were outcoached, but i expected that. what i didnt expect was that close of a game. great effort for the buckeyes!!!

jay
  (11:44 AM)

hey larry!

Jonathan (ATL)

One of the analysts said that the Eagles should sign Garica while Vick gets ready...not a bad move if McNabb is out for more than 2 games

Koop (A-Town)

I liked MJ's speech. He was always about being competitive. Everyone knows (I hope) that he was the biggest trash talker in basketball maybe in sports so to go out like that wasn't really surprising. Heck in a way he was thanking his naysayers for adding wood to the fire.

jay
  (11:45 AM)

yeah, but the competition is over. has been for years.

Demetric (Orlando)

Jordan, did what he was supposed to do, at least he was honest, and didn;t give the robot speech

jay
  (11:46 AM)

that is true d! but show respect. or maybe he respects no one.

Uomr (Detroit)

Glad ya showed up Jay. And your right about Jordan. But he doesn't have sweetness humility.

Rickey Henderson (Somewhere)

I thought MJ's HOF induction speech was over the top.

Donald (NJ)

In my eyes jordan can do whatever he wants from this point on. He earned it

Reischea
  (11:46 AM)

Gotta say, as much love as I have for MJ, I can't retire his number before Bill Russell's. image

Johnny (Scranton, PA)

I was talking about Ohio football in general, Jay. Thanks to the Browns for taking the 2nd half off yesterday. Made me and my fellow Viking fans very happy. Also to see the Bungles lose the way they did was pretty entertaining.

jay
  (11:47 AM)

he can, but he needs to realize that now is part of his legacy too.

Jonathan (ATL)

Jay, tough weekend: ya lose to Reischea and Michael Kim on the same day. Do you think OSU still has a shot at the national championship?

Ray (Arlington, VA)

I liked MJs speech too. Didn't think it was about competition, but provided insight into his motivation. I thought he gave huge props to Pippen. Simple but huge acknowledgment from Jordan.

juan (milwaukee)

Jordan definatly had more competition than the players do now.

Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)

MJ was refreshing. I hate the politically correct response because you get no idea of what someone is thinking or their personality. He told the truth. Plain and simple.

T.J. (Brooklyn)

To guys Like Michael Jordan the competition is never over. Ask Charles Barkley

jay
  (11:48 AM)

oh sure, if they beat penn state and mich. but they are not a top 5 team.

Loopy (usa)

MJ's speech was great in my opinion. He probably had all of that bottled up inside of him for years so he let it out. Nothing wrong with that to me.

Mike (Maine)

jeff garcia would be a good fit in carolina with that running game

d grice (charlotte nc)

do u think jake the fake is the reason y peppers wants 2 leave the panthers

jay
  (11:48 AM)

none of that was bottled up loopy. we all knew all of those things. he just re-stated them.

Brandon (Goldsboro N.C.) [via mobile]

Reischea how much have you been on Jay today?

jay
  (11:49 AM)

reischea and dana have both been classy winners today. thats why ilove both of my co-workers. complete class.

Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)

I enjoyed the other speakers...Robinson and his class, Didn't realize that Stockton was a comedian, Coach Sloan and Coach Stringer

jay
  (11:49 AM)

the others were great!

Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)

Didn't Jordan say something like he felt sorry for his kids because they would always have to live up to the enormity of MJ?

jay
  (11:49 AM)

yep. sad really.

Rusty (Cary, NC)

@Ricky Henderson......you refered to yourself as I not Rickey therefore i call IMPOSTER!!!

T.J. (Brooklyn)

Nobody should be allowed to wear the 23 again. They should tear it off Lebron.(Unless he finds his way to NY)

Reischea
  (11:50 AM)

I love that Stockton said he thought he'd be one and done... wait was that presser or during his speech(?) either way, thought it was great. So much for pulling the wool over people's eyes, right to the all-time assists leader and the HOF. As for Robinson, the Admiral is the epitome of class, always has been.

jay
  (11:51 AM)

ive heard others say that. it makes me laugh outloud. it really does. people, michael jordan was great, greatest ever. he won all 6 titles he played for. he also have more seasons in which he DID NOT win a title. to quote esteban....child please!!!!

Seth (OH)

I dont think Jordon would have done much without Pippen

jay
  (11:51 AM)

zero titles without scottie. but remember, because michael told us, the organization didnt play with the flu in utah....WOW!!!

Johnny (Scranton, PA)

MJ is like the little kid at the dinner party who is constantly begging you to watch him do his shtick. Time for MJ to fade into the background with a little dignity.

Ray (Arlington, VA)

Great speeches from rest of HOF. Coach Stringer's was the best. Very poignant. Amazing story.

Chris (Aurora, IL)

Jordan's HOF speech was typical Jordan arrogance - On a day of great celebration for a storybook career, he couldn't stop throwing individuals under the bus. Take a lesson in humility and grace from the likes of Robinson, Stringer, Stockton, and Sloan.

Big Kev (DC)

LOL @ TJ I thnk Lebron on his way there

THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))

David Robinson was a great player. He was so loyal and respectful to the game. I miss players of his caliber.

juan (milwaukee)

In every championship Jordan had to outplay other HOFs cant say that about Kobe or Duncan.

jay
  (11:53 AM)

pure skip mj apologist! skip loves him some mj!!!

T.J. (Brooklyn)

If I woulda got cut in high school for some bum, Id be upset at the world too. He showed how upset he was when he would scorch your favorite team for 55. Its his motivation

THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))

Jay, the fans want to see Kobe and LeBron (1-on-1). We could make the arena in Dallas look like a playground. Make-it-take-it, defense would be applied. Is it possible?

Jonathan (ATL)

the Drama King aka Skip Bayless speaks again.....child please!

jay
  (11:54 AM)

crazy huh jonathon

Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)

Jordan has every right to be bitter. Chicago broke up a dynasty for money and here we thought the goal was to win championships.

Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)

My goodness! Bayless is such a Chicago slappy....does he have a tat of the Sears Tower or what?

Dom (Delaware)

This is why Skip is so against some of todays greats because hes in love with MJ...

Ray (Arlington, VA)

One odd thing in Jordan's speech was no mention of his father. Maybe too painful?

d grice (charlotte nc)

jay i wish i had your job dana and reischea who would'nt enjoy there job with 2 women who know sports

chris (illinois)

TELL EM SKIP!!

Chris (Aurora, IL)

Skip - you are as arrogant as jordan.

mod
  (11:54 AM)

Ray check the speech again, he mentioned his dad when he was talking to his mom in the crowd

Johnny (Scranton, PA)

Maybe Major League Baseball should retire MJ's number for his tremendous efforts in trying to make it in two sports. GEEZ!

Donald (NJ)

Seth thats why there are 5 players on a team. you don't play by yourself

juan (milwaukee)

Hey Jay whats up with your alma mater giving up 21 unanswered to Mizz to lose the game?

jay
  (11:55 AM)

hey, proud of the way they played! a top 25 on the road! great effort!

Loopy (usa)

I agree with Skip. Screw political correctness.

jay
  (11:56 AM)

skip...not good!

T.J. (Brooklyn)

Nothing new but I dont agree with Skip anymore.

DAVID (Bowie,Md)

DAVID THOMPSON WAS A BALLER

T.J. (Brooklyn)

Jay is still burning about the shot on Ehlo. Give it up Jay

dana
  (11:57 AM)

david - you're right. rob was off on that comment - i think jordan was genuine in that choice.

Tomwit NJ [via mobile]

Dana always has to jump in on Skip. Wheres the neutrality?

Jonathan (ATL)

Jay, did Skip take his medication this morning? Did he just say Tiger wasn't in the same league as Jordan?!

Big Kev (DC)

Skip was doing good until the Tiger statement

THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))

Tiger and Michael in the same breath, what? Skip, we need to talk!!!

Johnny (Scranton, PA)

I'm surprised MJ didn't do a commercial for Hanes while drinking Gatorade during his speech.

joey (tx)

I want MJ to come back. Please come back.

Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)

After Skip ripped Tiger last week, he won by eight shots yesterday...

Dom (Delaware)

This is why Skip is good TV.... He can piss so many off with just a few words

Donald (NJ)

Jake Delhomme needs to to go da-hell-home with the way he's playing

mod
  (11:58 AM)

up all weekend thinking up that line, Donald?

Joey (RutlandVT)

Jordan is the man he has earned right to say it how bout that he brought guy who high school coach kept over him and ripped em,he ripprd everyone but his fam and scottie.which was the classiest thing he said was w/ out scottie no Mj

Leon (Greenville, sc)

I don't usually agree with skip but tiger woods has not reached michael level yet, maybe in 7 or 8 years but not now.

Jonathan (ATL)

so much for the good will among co-workers huh, Jay

tomwit nj [via mobile]

Maybe MJ is gonna go all Favreish on us.

mike randle (chicago )

drew brees was the best 6 touchdowns the man could have thown to skip and got one

juan (milwaukee)

Nice look Jay.

mike randle (chicago )

lovie i cant believe you making that call with the two point lead

Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)

But it was funny thanks for the laugh Donald.

THE_REAL_FAN ((TWITTER))

mod, lol

Trevor (Clinton Township, MI)

LMAO, mod!

DAVID (Bowie,Md)

Thanxz DJ, congrats go blue

Big Kev (DC)

I think Tiger need trees in his way all the time...LOL...man he's amazing!

Jonathan (ATL)

I can't believe that Skip was serious when he made that statement...he even grinned at the end of it like he knew he was making a knucklehead comment

Shane Reid (Raleigh, NC)

I'm with Skip on this one and he and I almost never see eye to eye.

chris (illinois)

im ashamed that 68% of my state picked drew brees over AD...brees was playin the lions!

Johnny (Scranton, PA)

Fear not, Bears fans. Even though Urlacher is out for the year Jay Cutler is one heck of a tackler and he may get several chances to make them if he keeps throwing like that.

mike randle (chicago )

urlacher gone is not that bick of a deal we still have briggs and other good linebackers we just need to get the office in a good flow

T.J. (Brooklyn)

Urlacher is way overrated. Brigss makes all the tackles and Hillemeyer isnt that bad

T.J. (Brooklyn)

Derrick Brooks. Now thats a good idea. Did you come up with that Jay?

jay
  (12:06 PM)

hey it could work.

jonathan (Pittsburgh)

MJ the speech reminded my that Magic NOT MJ was the greatest and MJ just an arrogant jerk. Tiger is on the next plateau alone MJ is just one of many greats--- if Tiger is no Golden Bear then MJ is no Bill Russell or George Michean.

juan (milwaukee)

Even Dan Pompei sounds sad cause he knows the Care Bears are done.

Jonathan (ATL)

That's a good debate topic for 1st

mike randle (chicago )

skip the bears can win the superbowl

T.J. (Brooklyn)

What is this espn chicago and espn boston? Where is espn NY?

jay
  (12:07 PM)

coming soon

juan (milwaukee)

3 hours today thats what im talking about.

mike randle (chicago )

yeah ap was playing the cleveand browns the dont even a number one qb yet know your sports chris

jay
  (12:07 PM)

just for you juan...and everyone else.

jay
  (12:07 PM)

bradys numbers not awful.

jay
  (12:08 PM)

it was hard to put that hat on.

Blake (Minneapolis)

What are the chances the Eagles go pick Jeff Garcia up if McNabb is gonna be out for a while?

dana
  (12:15 PM)

blake - that's gotten a lot of buzz this morning as a possibility. feely is the obvious choice b/c he's been with the team most recently - at least for this week. remember, week 3 vick's avail, just depends where he is with the offense.

ellen (Michigan)

Dana plz get twitter

dana
  (12:15 PM)

ellen, sorry, not my thing.

d grice (charlotte nc)

will vick start this season 4 the eagles if mcnabb is out a long period of time

dana
  (12:16 PM)

d - they didn't pay him a million to just sit on the bench. when he's ready to go (beyond the nfl's mandate which is week 3) if donovan is out, he's the man till proven otherwise. Problem is the uncertainty of where vick is with the offense right now.

Herb (Charlotte,NC)

Well in that preseason game against the Jets Vick was not comfortable throwing the ball. He still has a lot of work to put in before he is ready

Herb (Charlotte,NC)

Romo did not show me anything new yesterday. I want to see how he plays in December

dana
  (12:21 PM)

herb i agree.

mike randle (chicago )

call me crazy but il like the raiders no pressure to win russell coming along mcfadden looking like the ap everyone thought he would be if seymour comes look for them to get about six wins with that schedule

Caddy Mike (Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida)

Dana, I'm getting ahead of myself, but would you wear an Indiana hat(i'm sure Sage Steele could get you one) if IU beats Michigan in 2 weeks...Crimson would look good on you

dana
  (12:22 PM)

sorry caddy - i limit those kind of bets to the folks here...othwersies every week would be a bet

dana
  (12:33 PM)

have a good day. enjoy the monday night double header.
