Chat with Conor Casey

  (2:57 PM)

Conor is here!

Steven (NJ)

How did it feel to be named to the All Star team?

Conor Casey
  (2:58 PM)

Great! Obviously, getting off to a good start this season was helpful. To be named to the first 11 was a great honor.

Carter Jackson (New York, NY)

Playing for Colorado, do you ski in the offseason or use skiing as one of the ways to stay in shape for the season

Conor Casey
  (2:59 PM)

No. I actually grew up skiing. Every year that I've been back in the winter, I said I was going to ski. But with my past knee injuries, I'm going to save the skiing for when I'm done playing.

Lulamae (New York)

Conor what are the chances of Colorado making the playoffs this season?

Conor Casey
  (3:00 PM)

Very good. I think we're in a good position right now. We have some games coming up where we're playing some games that we think we can pick up some points. So I think things look good right now.

Pumpkin Man (Boston)

Conor - thanks for joining us. I was wondering which footballer did you idolize most growing up?

Conor Casey
  (3:01 PM)

Probably Rossi. One of the first tapes I had was of the '82 World Cup. He was one of my first soccer idols.

dexter (Roslyn, NY)

Whats the biggest reason for the 2 place jump since the all-star break an you think that momentum can lead you to the cup

Conor Casey
  (3:02 PM)

We started off the season on a decent pace. As the season wears on, the team gets to know itself better. You pick up a couple of wins and you can get on a run. We felt more and more comfortable as the season goes on. We hope to continue it. We're in a good position now. We're taking it one game at a time and picking up points to make sure we get a spot in the playoffs.

Brendan (Boulder)

As a Colorado native, how awesome is it to play for the Rapids?

Conor Casey
  (3:03 PM)

It's been awesome since I've been back. Not just to live here but to play for my home state, home city. All of my family and friends are still here. And so far we've put together a good season, it's been a good year.

Jose (Denver )

Will you go over seas after the regular season? and which team would you prefer to go to ?

Conor Casey
  (3:04 PM)

No. I don't have any plans right now. I still have this year and next year on my contract. I'm really not looking forward to anything other than what I'm doing right now. The playoffs and then we'll see where we're at from there.

Nouri Marrakchi (Greeley, CO)

What'd you want to say to your teammates when you are going into final few weeks before playoffs match-up are set??

Conor Casey
  (3:04 PM)

I don't know if it's anything I can say. Everyone knows where we're at. We've all been working toward the playoffs and everyone's working on their individual duties and the team.

Emily (Orlando)

With the US close to qualifying, do you think we'll get the win in Honduras, or do you think we'll clinch during the last game in D.C.?

Conor Casey
  (3:05 PM)

I don't know. Away games are always difficult in any of the qualifying games. The team is in a great position now and it'd be great if we could seal it up as soon as possible.

Mac McCracken (Brooklyn, NY)

are you superstitious about your head-shaving habits? do you cut your hair before a game or after? bic razor or electric? Finally, now that Zidane is retired and Becks has locks again, who is the world's best bald soccer player?

Conor Casey
  (3:06 PM)

We all shave the night before the game and it depends. It's usually a head razor without the guard on it.

Steven (NJ)

What is yur favorite moment of your MLS career so far?

Conor Casey
  (3:07 PM)

It's been tough, not making the playoffs the last couple of years has been frustrating. Hopefully this season we'll be in a good position and I'll have a more memorable time.

Craig G. (Fairfield, California)

Hey Conor, who is your early Champions League title pick?

Conor Casey
  (3:07 PM)

I think you have to go with Barcelona. The guys they added this year and the performance last year, they definitely have to be the favorites.

Karl (Denver)

You are currently first in the golden boot race. Do you think you can hold on til the end of the season?

Conor Casey
  (3:08 PM)

We'll see. It's tight. There are a lot of guys right there with me. Keep focusing on putting away the chances that I have and at the end of the year, we'll see where everybody stands.

Eric (Colorado Springs)

What's the toughest stadium to play in in MLS?

Conor Casey
  (3:09 PM)

It differs. I didn't get to play in Seattle this year, but the support they have there is pretty overwhelming. They have a turf field. Even though I haven't played there yet, I would imagine it's a tough place.

Sarah Plain (Albion, NY)

Was there in Toronto cheering Colorado on, although you couldn't hear us above the Toronto Fans - Great Head Ball as always!Casey what is your favorite thing to do when you are off the pitch?

Conor Casey
  (3:10 PM)

The summer time I just spent a lot of time outside. The parks and the mountains. Enjoying the weather. Taking my dog out, going for bike rides. That kind of stuff.

cdial (SF)

'09 mvp?

Conor Casey
  (3:11 PM)

It has a lot to do with the way the rest of the season finishes up. A lot of teams have a lot of players that are in the running right now. It will have to do a lot with how the teams finish the season.

Conor Casey
  (3:11 PM)

Thanks for tuning in. Hopefully you'll be supporting us in the rest of the games this season.
