Good morning, gang. Plenty of fantasy goodness to get to. Second cup of coffee in hand, so let's get this party started... So You Think You Can Chat?
Viva la AJ Mass! Why the no Tuesday chat any more?
Just a matter of scheduling. A lot of work being down with all those comments you read in the player profiles to get them up on time. You'll have to live with just the one hour for now... but hey, if you miss me, there's always my blog...
What do you think about Fred Jackson - should I start him over Kevin Smith??
I would. This is Jackson's last solo start (presumably) before he goes back to splitting the rock with Marshawn Lynch. I just expect him to go nuts.
Yo AJ! With MBIII practicing wednesday how do you think the carries will be split? I was gonig to go with Felix at flex but might be looking to "Fast" Willie Parker if marion can go.
I'm of the mind that Parker is toast. MB3 is practicing, and with the Cowboys going on Monday, I think he'll play - but not enough to merit a start, yet probably too much to risk starting Felix or Choice.
Is it safe to officially change his nickname to "Slow" Willie Parker?
QB controversy... go with a tried and true earner (Warner) or take a risk on a matchup in Jason Campbell?
Warner without doubt. I don't know why people are shy with Kurt this week... the Cards will throw and to say that the Colts don't allow passing yards is silly: the Dolphins simply don't have receivers and chose not to even try.
Safe to use Chris Johnson this week? Or should McGahee or Sproles be put in?? I already have MJD in my line-up- Thanks
After last week, I don't see how you don't start CJ. Sure, the Jets aren't going to give up 45 fantasy points, but I'll take my chances...
When thinking about a kicker, should we think about the potency of their offense? I have Rob Bironas but I could pick Tynes, Rackers, Nedney, Lindell or Carney? I know you guys always talk about how it doesn't matter but these little things can cost you a week. How should I look at it?
You shouldn't think of anything... except maybe weather conditions once Winter rolls in. A bad O scores 9 and the kicker gets 9. A great O scores 42 and the kicker gets 6.
Yo AJ! Should I start Olsen, Heath Miller or Vernon Davis at TE this week?
I'd roll with Heath. Big Ben likes his reliable target and I trust him to find him.
To say I am disappointed in Eddie Royal is an understatement. I am considering benching him this week but who should take his spot in a ppr league; Laurent Robinson (vs. GB) or Nate Burleson (vs. CHI)?
The "new Denver" has gone to WR-by-committee to go along with the traditional RBBC already famous there, so all of those guys have been hurt fantasy-wise. I was all over Laurent in the preseason, as on of my top sleepers, so I'll ride with him.
New to fantasy. Week 7 I have alot of players on a BYE week, how do you handle those? Do you just hope your backups can carry you, or do you make some waiver moves at the risk of losing some good players.
It depends on the league rules. For instance, in one of my leagues, if you start a player on a bye week it's a 5-point penalty. But, generally speaking, if you've drafted tons of guys with the same bye week, it's probably best to simply take the loss and keep your roster intact (and bye week free) the rest of the season.
What to do with Mr. Slaton??? Is it time to move him while there is some value left or do you see a big turn around in his future? I can move him and Caddy for Brandon Jacobs but he isn't exactly off to a hot start either.
It was always going to be a tough start for Slaton with NYJ and TEN and JAX up for the first three weeks. The schedule should open up for him going forward, so I'd ride it out for now.
AJ FLEX this week. Ray Rice or Felix Jones? Thinking Felix is a better play if he gets enough carries. Your help appreciated.
Well, that's the thing, isn't it? And with Dallas on MNF, you have to decide early. I say the best plan is to see how MB3 practices all week - as long as he's continuing to see the field, assume he'll play and start Rice. If there's any drop-off, go with Felix.
Pierre Thomas or Lynell Hamilton? Other option is Derrick Ward...Thx AJ!
No way I go near Hamilton. He's completely unproven and at best a one-week stop-gap option, if he even plays at all. I'd rather go with Ward.
You starting Washington's Defense against the Lions...or the Jets against the Titans?
Depending on the scoring system, I'd probably go with the Jets. The Lions can score, so I'd rather go where the better talent is... NYJ.
If Westbrook is a no go, do you like McFadden as a stop gap this week vs a pretty bad Denver run defense? Ray Rice is another option. Thanks.
Run DMC is pretty much the only Raider I'd start. I hate the play-calling The Cable Guy is doing, but given the choice between DMC and Rice, I go DMC.
How do u think Pedro Will do in the playoffs
One start, five IP, three runs.
Taking any baseball questions? For Ws and Ks, drop Penny for Padilla?
I'll take what comes... as much as it pains me, I would. Something must be tasty in the water in LA's clubhouse, because this is not the Padilla who was in Texas.
Flacco or Edwards week 3? Yuck right?
Not really. I like Flacco a lot and Cleveland isn't exactly "fierce" - and against NO, where the final may well be 42-35, Edwards could actually throw for 300 . I actually would go with Trent.
Based on what you know RIGHT NOW, pick a flex for a PPR league from these guys....Barber, McCoy, Pierre Thomas, or (the other) Steve Smith.
Is it a good or bad strategy to start a QB for the team your opponent has WR's for. For example, starting Cutler this week over Romo because my opponent has Knox and Olsen playing. .50 PPR league..... basically I'm diminishing his roster by 2 players right?
There is no "defense" in fantasy football. Start YOUR best players - period. If Romo scores 50 and Cutler scores 5, you made a bad choice - and that doesn't prevent Knox and Olsen from scoring more than Cutler.
I'm carrying too many QBs (I have no kicker after picking up Sims-Walker) -- Who needs to go - Flacco, Garrard, or Cassel?
I'd get rid of Cassel. Garrard rarely turns the ball over and at least has that going for him as a backup.
I'd get rid of Cassel. Garrard rarely turns the ball over and at least has that going for him as a backup.
Outlook on Stafford? Interested because of the Megatron slant...(not a literal slant)
He's doing really well - if you watched him in Week 2, you saw a QB who does make mistakes, but instantly recognizes them... it's only a matter of time before it all comes together. Megatron will get his points, and by Week 12, this team will probably have 3-5 wins.
Trying to trade for Forte right now...he'll get it going right?
One would hope... at least the Bears staff is acknowledging they've not gotten him into the game flow as well as they should be, so I expect a lot of touches in Week 3.
PPR QUESTION! Hightower, Sproles, and Felix Jones...pick 2 this week.
Again, can't roll with Felix this week b/c of the MNF start. Besides, Sproles and Timmy may each get 6-8 catches.
Would you recommend packaging Lynch/Fred Jackson in a deal for a more stable RB? who would be a good RB to target?
I'm not sure anyone else would sign on to take that headache. Value-wise I'm not sure you'd be able to get what you're looking for.
I'm in a deep league, who should I start Chris Henry or Pierre Garcon?
I'd go with Henry. Garcon got lucky with the score against Miami. It's pretty much going to be Clark and Wayne and nobody else for Indy.
With Hasselback unlikely to play, do you think I should start Collins against the Jets or Leftwich against the New Jersey Giants? What about picking up Kolb vs the Chiefs?
Looking at a one-week pickup, I'd take the chance with Kolb. But if you're looking for a QB to keep on your roster after this week, Collins is the one I'd want to have.
Whats Julius Jones value? can we expect more of his week 1 performance or week 2?
It's not high, and it's even less with Seneca at QB. I'd rather have Forsett.
speaking of Clark and Wayne - did Clark get too much attention from the cameras against Miami? will Wayne benefit from a weaker coverage from Arizona?
I think it just as easily could have gone the other way. Peyton is going to take the option that the defense gives him - Clark or Wayne. Few defenses will be able to stop both, and if the Cards aim to keep Dallas down, then Reggie will have the big day.
Better dynasty QB: Tony Romo or Aaron Rodgers? 12 teams with very deep benches, I need to trade one to improve elsewhere. Thanks!
I've never been accused of being a Tony Romo apologist. I keep Rodgers.
Hi AJ, What are your thoughts on Lance Moore? I am thinking about dropping him for Brent Celek?
I don't think the hamstring is too bad, and you know Brees will continue to throw it around. I don't think you need 2 TEs on your roster, so if Celek is an upgrade to what you have, swap out the old TE. IF not, stand pat.
end of season push...Kendrick or Polanco?
I'm with Placido.
Hasn't The Giant's Steve Smith earned the right to no longer be called "The Other Steve Smith"... There was never "The other Roy Williams"... Can we just always qualify with Team CAR Steve Smith or NYG Steve Smith, or Middle Names, or Colleges or something... or how about we get them some nick names...
Hey don't look at me... I've refused to call Tomlinson LT, b/c that's #56 to me. I go with LDT and nothing else. But this will have to be your crusade -- I'm still busy trying to get Kevin Smith renamed "Cutback Suarez"
Y am i so low in the rankings...? I am the only healthy back in the best offense in the league
Because even with that true statement, you're getting at most 5-10 carries.
BASEBALL!!!Who do you like down the stretch 2 parts? J. Sanchez or Homer Bailey?Drew Stubbs or Seth Smith?
Bailey and "The Only" Seth Smith.
Obviously weaker options, please rank who holds more long-term value... Bobby Wade, Donnie Avery, Laveraneus Coles?
Wade. He's impressed the heck out of me with so little prep time and Coles is losing PT to Caldwell.
BASEBALL! Do i dare trust jorge del la rosa against the Cards this weekend? He burned me in a spot start recently...
If the Cards have clinched by then, then yes.
A. Gonzalez- any word on when he'll be back? Also he's available in my league, should I pick him up? Will he still be productive?
Was he ever? I just don't like him. He'll probably be back somewhere around Week 8, but I just don't think he'll be able to jump back in and develop any rhythm with Peyton.
I kindly ask for BAseball! Better keeper...Alex Gordon or Elvis Andrus?
At this point, I have to lean to Elvis.
Games goes in 45 minutes, Arroyo worth a spot start @ Pitt???Also, Schaub or Warner this week?
Yes for Bronson, and Schaub for the start.
with drew throwing to me, am i a wr2 or just a flex depending on the matchups
A flex... regardless of the matchups. Henderson is a home run or golden sombrero type of guy.
Who do you think has more upside for the rest of the season, Manningham or Ginn?
Manningham. There's no way Chad keeps up these targets if he's going to drop game-winning scores, and no way defenses let him get open if he does catch a few TDs going forward.
BASEBALL - Pick three SP keepers - Cliff Lee, Vasquez, Greinke, Nolasco, Oswalt, Hanson, Slowey, Baker.
Hanson, Zack, Javy
I am 0-2 on picking my QB... should I just go with Schaub over Big Ben as long as he's healthy?
Fantasy-wise, without fail.
Does that make Bess more valuable going forward in a PPR format. Couldn't believe they didn't get him the ball more the other night.
More valuable, yes... but not too much more if they're going to insist on running the ball 60 times a game.
Looking to clear a roster spot for upcoming bye weeks. Who would you drop, Lance Moore, Fred Taylor, or Ricky Williams?
Taylor. There's just no way to rely on Fred with the 4-back rotation in NE.
Would you trade Phil Rivers for Tom Brady?
I don't think so... while I do think Brady will improve as the season goes on from where he is now, I think the Chargers are going to lean far more heavily on the pass this season, and Rivers will be the more valuable QB.
Pierre Thomas...you seem down on him this week. Is it his health or the matchup that you don't like?
It's the health. Even if he plays, I am not quite sure for how long...
Battle of the Donalds! Driver or Brown at the flex this week? (8yrds rec = 1pt)
I'll go with Driver...
Pick my WR3: Berrian, J. Gage, or J. Knox? NOT PPR.
Sjax vs. Forte
This week, Matt
Is Tenn D worth dropping? Any D's you like moving forward that are off the radar?
Not yet. It'll take more than one awful week to cut bait on them... after all, they looked solid against Pitt for most of the night in Week 1.
is Brandon Marshall a smart start this weekend? what about Hank Baskett? what's his status in Indy?
Marshall is no better than flex with the rotation there, and as for Baskett, well, I don't see much value going forward - he's not that good to begin with, let alone in a new system.
buzzer beater!!!! should I be dropping Avery in a touchdown only league for guys like Sims-Walker, Wade, or Stuckly?
I'd go with Stuckey. However, in a TD-only league, realize you're just throwing darts.
That's all the time we've got gang... good luck in Week 3. You can find me on Twitter, and we'll see you the next time on "Villa Alegre"!
