Hey gang: Thanks for stopping by! As always, all subjects answered. The Jerome Harrison / Mike Sims-Walker / Derrick Mason / DeSean Jackson / DeAngelo Williams / Fred Jackson support group starts... now.
Okay Cedric Benson, you win. I'll never sit you again, not even during your bye week.
Haha. Look, I said on the podcast this morning that I think Benson is a top 10 back the rest of the way... but no question, he's an every week must start.
I've been holding on to Anthony Gonzalez on the IR and have to make a decision on him when he returns for the roster spot. Will the Frenchy & Lassie split show keep AGonz on the bench? Will his return make him more valuable than Mo Ma weeks 8
I don't know that A Gonz will be consistent week to week enough to trust him... Garcon and Collie's emergence plus Addai's refusal to get hurt (I have D Brown in a lot of leagues, in case you can't tell)means too many weapons for the Colts week to week... I'd raher have Massaquoi, who will not be THAT bad again (he did get 6 targets)...
Is Lee Evans worth owning in a league anymore?
In a ten team lg? No. a 12 team, yes. But barely.
Well, the Sims-Walker endorsement didn't work out well, did it? I've got Caldwell in a deep league, and he always gets me so frustrated for 3.5 quarters before Palmer finds him on the GW drive. Is Palmer starting to realize he should find him earlier, or is Chris Henry going to emerge and steal more looks?
Yeah. I'm not allowed to print my thoughts when I saw that about MSW.... I like Caldwell in deeper leagues, but Henry actually showed signs of life last week and that offense goes through Benson. (Can't believe I just wrote that)... So no, for now, Caldwell is a bench guy / deeper league play
Who do you like the rest of the year - S. Morris, M. Bell, J. Lewis
Lewis, Morris, Bell in that order. Lewis will get majority of carries as long as he is healthy. Morris is the NE RB you want but Maroney and BJGE will also get a few touches - just enough to annoy you.
Mr. Berry, I feel like I just hit on a waitress this Sunday. I am a fantasy newbie, but already an addict. I had my lineup set for Sunday and was watching your Sunday morning fantasy show. I am not going to name names, but someone convinced me to bench SLATON and substitute Harrison. You were correct about the run stats. Did your analysis of Slaton factor in passing stats? I still might win if Miami?s DST scores 3 or more.
Yeah... I'm sorry dude. No, I did factor in the passing stats... it's not like Slaton had a great game. They did pull Slaton from goal line twice, too. The big problme was the stupid Browns for letting everyone think Lewis wouldn't play or be limited at best if he did... Clearly, you can run on BUF... I wasn't wrong on benching Slaton - I was wrong that Harrison would get majority of touches. Of course, I also didn't think Derek Anderson would go 2 for 17. Two! for 17! Their passing game gets anywhere close to mediocre and Harrison would have been fine. Anyways, yeah, bad call by me. Of course, if you had listened to the whole show, you should have also grabbed Miles Austin and started him and it wouldn't have mattered what Harrison did
You should hire someone to type for you.
I was just thinking... what would be a total waste of money.... thanks!
Honestly, I think now that the 'wait on a tight end because they're all similar' strategy was a mistake. I ended up with Carlson, who has done nothing since week one, and looking around, all those guys in that group like Olsen, Keller, etc. are basically worthless. Looking back, don't you think it makes more sense to maybe over-reach for a Clark, Gonzo, or Gates, since that spot becomes a virtual black hole without a stud? Predicting when a Cooley or Heath or even Wittne goes off is a complete crapshoot
Disagree. It just may not have been some of the TE we expected. Keller will go off tonight. Celek has been great. So had Shiancoe. Heap. Shockey has been solid and Olsen is coming alive. Zach Miller and Kevin Boss haven't worked out yet but Carlson will be fine, esp with Hasselbeck back.
15 minutes and 5 questions answered. Are you kidding?
Wow, I've done five already? Awesome!
Jamaal Charles ... do you think he starts anytime soon?
He's almost gotta, so yeah, I say yes. LJ makes this week's Dumpsville list.... It wouldn' surprise me if after LJ sucks at Washington this week they make a switch...
20 mins into the chat, and only 7 questions answered. Better slow down and catch your breath.
Good thinking. Let me go get a drink.
The Coffee TD prediction helped; thoughts moving on?
Sadly, not much. Bye this week for SF and then I am guessing Gore is back.
Is Derrick Ward officially a bust? 34 Carries 133 Rushing Yards 1 TD only one good week (against Dallas) when he had 12 Carries 62 Rushing Yards 1 TD
Well, I was never high on him the way some folks were so I'm not sure how much of a bust he is in my eyes. He's a disappointing part of a RBBC, which is what I thought he would be. That said, yeah, he's definitely cutable.
Sell high or keep Mendenhall?
It's both as his value is higher than it will be going forward (FWP will be back and getting a lot of work) but he WILL have value the rest of the way.... so it depends on the offer. If you can get something great, do it. But don't be in a hurry to dump him no matter what.
Am I ever going join the magnificent scoring machine that is known as the Giants offense?
Yes, you will. Another topic discussed on the podcast this morning - you guys should really listen - I like him more than Brandshaw the rest of the way and consider Bradshaw a sell high. Look at NYG sked the next 5 weeks or so
How would you rate these WR's - Maclin, Nicks and Austin?
Maclin, Austin, Nicks - in that order for this week. Miles has a bye next week and more competition.
Is TO actually droppable now??
In a ten team league... YES
Alright, I've flopped three times now jumping on the bandwagon for one-week wonders who give me nothing the week after they explode (Mo-Ma, Julian Edelman, Ben Watson). I'm not doing it again with Miles Austin and Jeremy Maclin this week. Please give me your best guess for scrub-who-will-play-the-game-of-his-life-in-Week-6. Thanks.
Total guess... without knowing injuries... Donnie Avery at JAX ; Antwaan Randle El vs KC ; Mike Thomas vs STL
Keeper league - which Redskins QB should I grab: Sam Bradford or Tim Tebow?
Can I be successful in this new offense?
Better than you had been but that's not saying much. Overall, I think you struggle. New offense, more weapons, etc...
1)How legit is hasselbeck, having 7 TDs in his two full games this year? 2)Is garrard droppable?
Somewhat legit... that's a team that will need to throw. Match-up dependent of course - those two games came vs. tow of the worst pass d's in the league... but I do like him.No, hang tight w/ Garrard. One of those games.
I want to answer the question from King (Houston). My best guess for scrub-who-will-play-game-of-his-life-in week-6 is "JORDY NELSON"
I thought about him... Certainly, GB at home vs. DET is a tasty match-up
True or False: You (like the rest of us down here) are quickly developing a major man crush on Bobby Abreu...GO HALOS!
Had it all year. Always liked Abreu. Go Halos, indeed! Hoping to be at Yankee Stadium for Gm 1
Important question... why would anyone think that bashing the "chat-speed" of the host would improve their chance of getting a question answered? hey morons.. i think your bus is leaving...
Cedric Benson or Kevin Smith for my Flex spot? Every week I try to pick based on matchup and I've been wrong just about ever time. Is Cedric the clear favorite now?
Yes. Like Smith but Ced a must start
Matt- what do I do with DeAngelo Williams? He has been a bust thus far.
Yeah, he really has been. But you stay patient. Things should get a lot better this week against TB
Hey Berry, you hung over again?
I wish. My big Sat night was studying and prepping for SportsCenter / NFL Countdown / FF Now... I'm on air for close to 2 hours Sun morning.
Is Jeremy Maclin now the go-to-guy in Philly? And is Westbrook really done?
No, I don't think so.. Would still rather have Jackson and Celek in the PHI pass game. That said, Maclin is my #1 pick-up this week, over the Austins (Miles and Collie) based on offense and opportunity. He gets OAK next week.
Thanks for recommending Jacobs and DeSean as top-five options at their respective positions. I was really hoping to score the lowest out of the 16 teams in our league and you helped me achieve my goal!
Another satisifed customer!
Sims Walker- a) angry enough to cut him, b) target him in a trade from an angry owner, c) The reason why the Jags offense was terrible yesterday, d) all of the above
B and C.
All the prepping how could you be more wrong on the Hillis, Jordan situation in Denver
I don't think that's fair. I had Hillis in the 40's on my ranks and said, if you were desperate, he was a decent flyer. That's all. And I stand by that. If you needed a RB and the top 40 were not available to you for some reason, he was as good a gamble out there.
Oh, is the podcast FINALLY up? (It just went up half an hour ago for those of us who kept refreshing the podcast page every minute for the last 3 hours) I'm assuming your blaming a combination of Nate Pod Angels celebration hangover?
When you listen to the podcast, you'll understand. Technical difficulties. But today's is jam packed with actual analysis.
Still Wacko for Flacco?
Yes. Going into week 5, he was tied for 6th most fantasy pts among QB's, same amount as Drew Brees. Love how guys jump all over you if you miss a call but no one mentions I was all over this guy in my EARLY JULY Love / Hate article....Anyways, yes, things get back to normal this week for him on turf in MIN
Drafting Randy Moss with my first pick is turning out to be a bigger bust than hitting on a waitress all night and going home alone and broke. Whats your take on Moss from here on out?
It's all the Pats. Brady has yet to explode, Welker just did something this week... at home vs TEN this week... if he doesn't go off THIS week, then you can panic.
Are you single?
Hahahaha. Yes, "Cindy," I am.
Chris Johnson a buy low? Outside of Week 2, he hasn't scored and has barely been an RB1, but we all know he has the talent.
Yes, I still believe
Pssst. Most of us are at work in the morning and can't listen to a fantasy podcast. Any value for LeSean McCoy going forward? He got a few touches yesterday but didn't do anything.
So download and listen on the way home! but yes, I think so. He actually got as many touches as Westbrook did yesterday. I like him as a flex in a 12 team lg vs OAK this week... He'll have some value - they're using him more and more.
Why the skepticism? Tons of hot chicks named Cindy hang out in fantasy football chats on Monday afternoons.
Matthew, Ive taken your advice on many occasions and have been quite sucessful...don't let me down now! Miami or Jets D tonight?
Match-ups aside, Warner or Hasselbeck from this point forward?
True or false: Dustin Keller scores 4 or more fantasy points more than Thomas Jones tonight?
I say true. I'm expecting a big game from Keller tonight.
Which would you rather have? LT and his ankle or Slaton and his moronic coaching staff who gives Chris Brown goal line carries despite fumbles and his inability to come up big in the clutch?
I'm probably the last remaining LT supporter, but I'll say LT. I like both going forward, actually and after Chris Brown's failures I think Slaton gets more of a shot going forward. But out of the bye week, fully healthy... I expect LT to be solid.
Just thought I'd mention that I think your advice has been more "on" this year than any. Everybody who had DJax & Jacobs started them this week. Your long shots have been right on! Thank you!
Are you Wicky for Ricky tonight? (I also have no idea what that means)
Me either. And no.
Matthew said it. Which means Keller will have a horrible game tonight. Cory you're screwed.
Happy Columbus Day!
Back at ya
Is the idea of trading Randy Moss for Ced Benson straight up as absolutely crazy as it sounds?
No, it isn't. I'd still rather have Moss but it's clsoe and if you had depth at WR, I'd have no prob with it.
You said in your "5 Things I learned from Week 5" video that Ahmad Bradshaw is a SELL HIGH....and that we saw his best game all year. Who could we trade him for to? What players out there could we actually get??
Correct,I did. Look at his upcoming sked. Lotta good run defenses. I tink a top 20 RB. Rather have, say, Westbrook than him. Kevin Smith, T Jones (after he struggles tonight), Chris Johnson, Portis, Jacobs, Grant... rather have any of them. Barber too.
Who will be the top back in Dal. after bye week?
kevin smith or steve slaton in a keeper league?
Is it worh keeping Cotchery around with Edwards coming in?
Yes, very much so. In fact, I think Cotcvhery is a good buy low. Edwards HELPS Cotchery's value...
Trade Cindy for me? (Please?)
your a biatch berry!!!! and on that note leave
Well, now that Bob is gone there's no reason continuing.
Any waiver pickup worthy of #1 priority?
Sit Miami D with less than a one point lead? No other players going in the match up.
if you ARE SURE you've won... in other words, no points from you or your opp that could be changed by a yard or something when official scoring comes out... then ys, absolutely. Don't take the chance
How serious is Megatron's injury? Is he a sell high right now? I'm deep at WR and weak at RB should I go for a RB? No PPR
Have not heard yet. No, if anything, he's a buy low.
I can trade Randy Moss for Brandon Marshall. Do I do it?
Still rather have Moss.
Would you characterize LEon Washington as a "safer" play if you need 5 points, while Jones is more "boom or bust" tonight?
Yes, he is....
Okay gang... gotta run. Thanks, as always, for stopping by!
