Chat with Paul Kuharsky

Paul Kuharsky
  (2:58 PM)

Good afternoon folks, how are we doing? Thanks for coming by. Hope we have an entertaining hour.

Mr. Magoo (DMV)

With LenDale being a free agent, wouldn't it just make some sense to trade him at the deadline and get something for him, especially since they're barely using him and Chris Johnson is officially "the guy", not to mention that they have Ringer?

Paul Kuharsky
  (2:59 PM)

Guys in the last year of their deal are attractive as trade bait why?

Ryan (Houston)

how long will it take for baby shanahan to realize we NEED to have slaton on the field when the game is on the line???...chris brown is not an up the middle runner anymore thatn slaton, but at least slaton gets to the hole quicker

Paul Kuharsky
  (2:59 PM)

I would hope they've now realized it.

Ian (Bismarck)

Kerry will be using a walker by next season, and VY doesn't seem to be the man. Is there any indication yet that the Titans will be drafting a QB in the first round this year?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:00 PM)

They will certainly be finding a QB this offseason. Whether it's via trade, free agency, first round or later in the draft, they have no idea yet.

Ryan (Scottsdale, AZ)

How do you see the Colts playing after the possible return of A. Gonzales, b. sanders, k hayden and maclin? Have any of the rookies or 2nd yr. players earned a starting spot?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:01 PM)

I could see Powers staying a starter.

Harish (Fargo ND)

Paul,What is the real story behind colts cutting ED johnson? Will this move make their defense better?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:02 PM)

I take them at their word. But the whole thing is odd and wasn't well handled, I don't think.I don't see it making them better, no. But I don't think it makes them worse by any large degree.

Casey (Murfreesboro)

I heard your response to John Lopez' idea of a trade of VY for BQ. "bad for bad". I agree but, whaddaya got to lose? VY has no trade value and that is not likely to change. You might get enough out of BQ to get you through the next season, until you can bring in your guy. Worse comes to worse you release him. How do the salaries compare?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:02 PM)

Mangini's said he's not trading Quinn, and isn't he under contract for longer?

Titans Struggling D (Nashville)

Why is it not obvious to the coaches that we don't get enough pressure with 4 D lineman on obvious passing downs? Shouldn't we send a blitzing LB or DB? If not, why don't we let our DB's jam WR's at the line instead of giving such a huge cushion. No pressure + not doing anything to disrupt a WR's route is killing us. Thoughts?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:03 PM)

Blitzing brings more risk and you're putting kid corners at that risk. Jamming brings more risk ,and you're putting kid corners at that risk. When they blitz and jam and get beat over the top, then what will you say?

Jon (Beaumont, Tx)

why is Kubiak so adamant about not "abandoning" the run? Aren't check downs, screens, dumping off to the flat, whatever just as effective at discouraging blitzes and sustaining drives? The Texans should stick with what they're good at and put the game in Schaub's hands, even from the 1 yard line.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:04 PM)

I completely agree. You can pass to set up the run and do enough to make your play action believable without allowing the run game to lose you games. Yes, you need to be able to run for a yard. But until you're sure you can, stop trying.

Richard (Philly)

If Vince Young starts for the titans, will they stick with him for the rest of the season no matter what happens.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:04 PM)

Don't know. Doubt it because I don't expect he'd do well.

Ed Johnson (unemployed)

PK, do you need a chat assistant? I don't have anything else to do.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:05 PM)

Sure Ed, welcome aboard. Tell us your tale.

Dave (Canada)

Paul, In a chat this summer I asked you what it would take for Jeff Fisher to get fired. You replied that if he survived Pacman he could survive anything. Is this still your opinion?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:05 PM)

Yes. He's surviving this. Though I think it's the worst job he's done.

georgeann320 (beaufort souyh carolina)

do you think the broncos aregoing to be long time favorites to winthe division

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:06 PM)

Five games in to a season where they've turned out to be favorites and you want long term, huh?

PK'sAHomer (Pergatory)

I realize this game is sevreal weeks away, but what would be your pick for the surprisingly exciting Indy-Denver matchup?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:06 PM)

I would lean to the Colts.

Adam (Hendersonville, TN)

Hey Chief,As a Titans fan, is it too early to start talking about the 2010 Draft? With regard to the future of the Titans' QB position & working under the assumption that Young is no the future, could you see the the Titans using their 1st rounder on a QB, waiting until the 3rd round or later to snag one (having no 2nd round pick) or trying to acquire a young guy (Kolb, Quinn, etc,).Thanks,Adam

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:07 PM)

If they have a top 10 pick, I like the idea of them doing something different. I'd vote trade or second round (or trading up to late first). Early first-rounder brings too much pressure and bust potential.

Chris (Brentwood, TN)

I'm not usually one of those people, but I am really starting to feel as if Jeff Fisher's job security is in jeopardy. No doubt he has been a great service to the franchise and the community, but the Titans seem like a franchise on the brink of a drastic overhaul. He has taken a squad that he deemed as one of the best he's ever had, and it has turned out to be a group lacking discipline and cohesiveness. If the system does not work, sometimes it needs to be scrapped. You could blame Cecil for his inexperience or Heimerdinger for stale playcalling and consistent 3-and-outs, or you could blame the group as a whole. We saw it with Shanahan and Schottenheimer, and no doubt Fisher would be quickly attached to another team, but do you believe he really could be next?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:08 PM)

Have you talked to Bud? Because I don't know how you'd know about Fisher's job security with no comment from his boss.

Peyton (Indy)

So what is the REAL story on Ed Johnson. If he was just "not performing," why wouldn't he have gone from starter to the bench instead of starter to waiver wire?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:08 PM)

You tell me, Peyton. It's a different route than Tony Ugoh's taken, and Bill Polian pumped Ugoh up on the radio the other night.

Jeff (NC)

More pressing need for Houston in the 2010 draft: OL, big RB, or DB (or none of the above)?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:09 PM)

Safety. Two if possible.

Peter Smith (Nashville)

Paul what do you think of the Titans signing Rod Hood today? Certainly it couldn't make us worse right?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:09 PM)

Certainly it couldn't. Can it?

J.B. (Dunmore, PA)

How well did you know Norm Chow? With his experience developing QBs, could he have made a difference in Vince Young if Fisher had not fired him?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:10 PM)

He didn't in the couple years he had. Jeff deserves a lot of blame, but now you're gong all the way back to firing Chow as if that's the problem here?

Toesh (Dearborn, Mi)

Everyone is talking about donald brown phasing out addai, but isn't addai doing a good job as an all around back?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:10 PM)

I think he's done well. I think the root of the run problem is the blocking.

Chad (Las Cruces, NM)

How long before we can start calling Derek Harvey a bust? He couldn't get by a practice squad LT signed the night before the game?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:10 PM)

He gets three years. But he's on a bad track overall.

Ben (Nashville)

Are you going to watch Office Tonight?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:11 PM)

Probably DVR it and watch baseball.

Charles (Goodlettsville)

Any chance that the Titans switch Mouton to corner and McCourtey to nickel after the bye week? I understood the logic when it appeared that Fuller would be out a while, but now that Harper has the same injury, they really should get the best available corner out there full time.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:12 PM)

Why not Mouton at corner in base, then into the slot in nickel with McCourty outside? They'll say it's too much to ask of a rookie. But fielding punts at the Meadowlands wasn't?

chris (jax)

whats your opinion of MJD's comments?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:12 PM)

Love the fire. Always applaud honesty and candor. And I didn't think it was that bad. Wasn't as if he took on Koetter.

PK'sAHomer (Pergatory)

Not so much a question as a plea: please tell me that losing E Johnson won't spell doom for the Colts. I'ma 107 lb female, and I'm sick of the jokes baout how I could stop the run better than most Colts' defenders!

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:13 PM)

Love your name. Very clever. I don't think it undoes them. Why would they make a move that undoes them? They won plenty of games without him last year.

Joe ((Indiana))

Do you think the new kicker Matt Stover will be a good replacement?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:14 PM)

Sure. He just isn't going to be asked to bomb long ones.

jUAN (hOUSTON)

Do you see us drafting another defensive lineman this year. We have several 1st round picks and it seems it has not helped us. Our defense is statistically worst than ever year.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:14 PM)

Yes.

Chad (Las Cruces, NM)

Do the Jags. with their anemic pass rush, take a serious look at Ed Johnson? The Colts say there is no character issue, so that should make Gene Smith happy.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:15 PM)

He didn't get a look anywhere last year. He's suited to the Colts, not to may others. Don't know that he fits Jax's 3-4 now.

romello421 (philly)

I think the texans are a good team why can't they get over the hump

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:15 PM)

Because they aren't as good as you, or many people, think.

Titans Struggling D (Nashville)

When they blitz and jam and get beat over the top I would say at least they tried to change things up and make some kind of adjustment. Do you really think it is ok to sit back and do the same things over and over? The record and yards given up speak for themselves.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:16 PM)

I'm telling you why they aren't doing the things you asked. You lose and get scared and play it safe.

Reese (Germantown, MD)

Didn't they fire Millen in Detroit because he couldn't draft players? Why in the world did they hire Shack to replace him?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:16 PM)

Shack is not running the show in Detroit.

Kevin Costner (Hollywood)

I bought a new hat and new sunglasses. I thought it would be the perfect disguise to keep the paparazzi way so I could enjoy your chat. You kept them away for me. After the chat " how about a catch Paul?"

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:17 PM)

Gets me every time...

David (Jax, Florida)

Are the Jags going to follow the advice of MJD and stick with an offensive unit so they develop some consistency ? The Seahawks game is a lost cause but I thought they had opportunities to run the ball more against the Colts and in the first half against Arizona.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:17 PM)

They didn't change O-linemen in all those instances because they wanted to. Did he forget Britton got hurt and Monroe got sick?

Lindy (Indy)

Which team do you think will likely stay undefeated the longest? And, on the opposite side of the spectrum, which team will remain winless longest?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:19 PM)

St. Louis is the worst of the worst, I believe.Looking at the schedules I actually think the Colts stay undefeated longest.

Matt (Ctown)

Who scores more TD's the rest of the way outKellen Winslow Jr./Braylon Edwards or the Browns?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:19 PM)

A. Good question.

Harish (Fargo ND)

Who will start in place of ed johnson?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:20 PM)

I would expect Eric Foster.

Dan (Orange Park, Florida)

Are the Jags staying in Jax ? Wayne Weaver said he is committed to jax but the Jaguars name keeps popping with Ed Roski in LA.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:21 PM)

Roski is looking to buy a team, so of course he mentions the Jags. Doesn't mean anything unless Weaver wants to talk to him.

Brendan (Windsor, ON)

If Steven Jackson runs for 150 yards next Sunday, how much flak does Caldwell take?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:21 PM)

A lot. But Polian is the move-maker here, not Caldwell. Caldwell is just answering the questions.

anthony (san antonio)

start vince young-the season is over.....good move or bad move?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:22 PM)

Eventually the only move, unfortunately for all involved.

Don (AL)

Do the colts seem to be running the stretch play more this year compared to last year? If so, do you think it is because of the banged up O-line last year or Peyton's recovery from surgery?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:23 PM)

Bit of both. They aren't as good at it as they used to be.

Spencer (Houston)

The Texans oline is often criticized as a whole, but Eric Winston seems to still be on top of his game. I think they need to draft a center and RG.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:23 PM)

Interior O-line is tough, especially now with two starting guards gone for the season.

Jim caldwell (Indy)

Do you think i will be the first ever rookie coach to go undefeated? If we get through NE and Baltimore, who is going to stop us?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:24 PM)

You will lose to someone. Probably three or four someones.

Finley (via mobile)

When the Jags get bought and moved to Los Angeles, can we move there? Think about it: We could cruise the Strip with the top down. It'd be awesome.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:25 PM)

Lot of travel througuh, buddy. You think of the top down (and I am picturing you in sweet goggles with a scarf flapping in the breeze) but not of airplane rides. Much less fun.

Titans Struggling D (Nashville)

Playing it safe is pretty much what they are doing. Schwartz struggled his first year and was given time. Do you see the same thing happening for Cecil?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:25 PM)

Yup.

Jason (Tampa)

Not a AFC but a NFC south Question, Do you think the Bucs can get their first W this week with carolina coming to town?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:25 PM)

I am not big on Carolina at all. So it would not surprise me.

Carl (TX)

I agree the Texans need two new safeties, but they've spent the vast majority of their 1st round picks on defense. How about taking a decent oline prospect. Idaho's guard looks very good or take an OT and move Winston to RG.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:26 PM)

Winston's very good where he is. Why move him instead of drafting guys to play the other positions?

Rob (Orange Park, FL)

If the Jags beat the Rams this Sunday ( I will be at the stadium!), they will be 3-3 (2-1 in the division). When the season started, if you said the Jags would be .500 at the bye, I'd be happy with that. Do you see this young team starting to progress?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:26 PM)

If they are 3-3 at the bye, there is no way to say it's not progress.

Jeff (NC)

Does Bill Polian (the draft guru) believe in drafting kickers in the later rounds of the draft or will they just sign a free agent in the next year or two when Adam is done?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:27 PM)

They just drafted a punter late, so does that answer your question?

Jeff (NC)

Did you catch the 30 for 30 "The Band That Wouldn't Die"? I thought it was pretty powerful and all this talk about the Jags made me think about it.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:28 PM)

I've heard good things and I love the director. But I am having trouble getting fired up about a marching band.

Steve (Nashville)

Was the Titans oline vastly overrated last year or is Chris Johnson not seeing the holes this year.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:28 PM)

Isn't it possible the O-line played very well last year and was rated as it should have been and it's not playing as well this year? And that Johnson's not finding the holes as well?

Nick (Columbus, IN)

Paul, Please tell me why the Colts owed any special favors to Ed Johnson? They gave him a chance when no one else would, as an undrafter free agent out of Penn State, who had I believe three behavor issues while in college. They gave him a second chance this summer after he displayed the same problems last year in Indy as he had at State College. Bill Polian is one of the greatest evaluators of talent in the history of football, and he decided that he wasn't making the grade this year, so they cut him. Just like the Chargers just cut their starting safety. A day after cutting him, at there usual available time to the media, coach Caldwell clearly stated that it had nothing to do with behavor issues. The only reason all of the media outlets and fans jumped to that conclusion, was because of Johnson's own history of mistakes. So explain to me again how they handled this wrong, please! How would bellicheck have handled it?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:32 PM)

I don't cover Belichick, and I don't think he handles things correctly all the time. I spelled out pretty clearly how I felt the Colts mishandled the Johnson news in that blog entry. God forbid they break with their sacred scheduled to take two seconds to tell their PR guy to get the word out that it wasn't a violation of zero tolerance. They treat people well. If you treat people well and you know your action will easily be characterized one way, the wrong way, why not fix it on the front end.

Jon (Beaumont, Tx)

Before the season started you predicted 2 teams from the AFC South making the playoffs. Does Tennesee's collapse change that? How many wins for a wildcard spot?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:33 PM)

Yes. Colts are only playoff team in this division now.

saeed (indy)

do you think manning focusing exclusively on collie and limiting garcon catches to make room for a healthy gonzalez?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:33 PM)

That's silly. He had Garcon open earlier. He's got Collie open now. He's throwing to who's open.

Razel (Texas)

Long time titan fan and I can honestly say we've never dealt with anything like this. There is actually doubt in Fisher for once. So my question is do you honestly think fisher has lost some of the players' Not like they won't play for him and all that I mean like did Fish lose his players trusting his coaching because of his bad special teams call *saying there is no need for a vet* and allowing KB to cover WR's

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:34 PM)

Not any more than he lost them when he was coddling Pacman.

Kalvis (Indianapolis)

Sorry to bring up Ed Johnson again, but I'm like a lot of people here in Indy who just doens't buy what Bill Polian and Jim Caldwell are selling on this deal. Chad Simpson and Mike Hart have been playing tag with the last roster spot this year, but they're both on now. As was mentioned earlier, Johnson wasn't even demoted, he was just straight up cut. A lot of people were happy with Ed's play, including his teamates and most of the fans. From what you saw this season from Ed Johnson, do you buy that he was underperforming enough to be let go?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:35 PM)

No. But I give them the benefit of the doubt on telling through truth. Still weird and quite the double standard when compared to Ugoh treatment.

Tim Graham (AFC East)

I suppose i'll have to report that Vanden Bosch got fine $5,000 for hitting Peyton. You obviously couldn't be bothered to do so.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:35 PM)

You should follow me on Twitter or Facebook. I passed along a report there.

Brendan (Windsor, ON)

How much playing time do you see Fili Moala playing against the Rams?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:36 PM)

Not a whole lot. Whatever the last tackle gets.

blown33pick (LP Field)

any chance the titans follow through with the idea of a "fire sale"... granted this is not baseball, but stock piling draft picks might be a good thing for a rebuilding team with SO many areas of need.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:37 PM)

Who's giving up draft picks for 10 games of an under-performing guy who's contract is expiring? I just don't understand why so few people get that. And then who plays for you now? You still need to field a team.

wes (jax)

Paul, Jags love knighton but he doesnt have many stats. Whats your take on him and can Cox get any attention for ROY in Jax.Hes looked great and has good stats.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:37 PM)

Both very good. ROYs will come from winning teams.

Benjamin (Goodlettsville)

Are the Titans not playing Vince Young more because they are afraid his trade value will go down if he plays? I know they want to go with the player that gives them the best chance to win, but how can the Titans say that Vince is the franchise QB when they don't even think he can give them a chance to win a game?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:39 PM)

Nonsensical. They aren't playing him because they are worried about his trade value, which is zero? He's due $4.75 million after the season and has a $14 million cap number next year. They won't pay those, and no one is trading for them.

Dave (Canada)

Is it possible that Finnegan, Griffin, and Hope were never very good players and that they only made the Pro Bowl on account of Albert always getting into the backfield?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:39 PM)

No it's not. They were all excellent last year.

dylan j (dutch harbor, alaska)

Mr. Kuharsky, you know tony dungy more than most people working in the afc south for a long time. whats the difference between him mentoring players like mike vick, and deion with crabtree? dungy influenced where vick signed, talks about "his" players he mentors on air, but there isnt any concern about him, does this reflect more on how the league views him and deion?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:40 PM)

Does Sanders have a long coaching resume?

Jeff (NC)

If the Jags move out west, does the NFL realign the divisions? If so, who's staying and who's going?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:41 PM)

People are fascinated with this. Eventually they could realign, but I don't think it would be priority one. And KC would never be the team moved. Never.

Javon Kearse (From Home)

When I get deactivated again, I mean if I get deactivated, (you know I was expecting it all week, I mean surprised, so I invited my family to the crib for wings and suds) can I come chill with you, or will you be somewhere else this weekend?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:42 PM)

It's you that would be somewhere else: New England.

Brandon (TN)

I have some friends going to nashville tomorrow to see the Kings of leon... Will you be at the show?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:42 PM)

Hoping to sneak out. Don't know for sure.

Charles (Goodlettsville)

Do you think the Titans could trade a couple of picks/player or two to get Kolb in the offseason? I know he was a 2nd rounder himself, but the Titans don't have a 2nd round pick.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:43 PM)

I like the idea, but it seems Philly envisions him as McNabb's successor and he would be pretty pricey.

Razel (Texas)

You think Titans fans overeacting a bit just because we've never seen Fisher mess up like this? I mean he's messing up but I DO NOT want him fired this year. First bad coaching in years I can live with it

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:43 PM)

He's had bad years before and recovered.

Mike (Jacksonville)

Is Jacksonville happy with Gerald Alexander?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:44 PM)

I believe so. Happier with him than other candidates for the spot.

James (Indy)

PK, if I'm thinking about this correctly aren't a handful of D starters in contract years? Brackett, Jackson, Bethea, etc. Some interesting decisions looming for Indy with Manning's new deal on the horizon. But the play of Powers and even Lacey is making me less nervous about Jackson's contract status.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:44 PM)

Bethea's going to lose out too, because of Bullitt.

Razel (Texas)

Paul I'm one of the fans wanting Vince to play. BUT I remember the 07 year and how everytime vince threw the ball I had to look away. It got me thinking, why doesn't fisher just tell the media the truth and that he has no faith in VY?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:45 PM)

What good would that do? He's gong to need the guy at some point, and he'd be lost for sure if Fisher did that. You and I have to read between the lines.

Allen (Houston)

Eugene Wilson is the least of our worries. I think interior o line and DT are for more " needs " IMHO. How do the texans beat cinci this week besides air it out

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:45 PM)

Air it out.

Eric (IA)

The Jags drafted two DEs with their top two picks in 2008, two OTs this year. Which position will they use their 1st two picks on next April?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:46 PM)

DL, again?

Razel (Texas)

Paul you see the titans going after one of the raiders cbs in a trade?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:46 PM)

With what?

Deion Sanders a.k.a PrimeTime (My Den)

PK, let me know when your contract is up. See what wonders I did for Crabtree??

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:47 PM)

Yes, please let's keep in close touch. You annoy me, but I am sympathetic as I do that to a lot of people.

SprungOnSports (Long Island)

If the Jags lose this Sunday to St. Louis, how hot will Jack Del Rio's seat get?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:48 PM)

He's not going anywhere now, and probably not this year. Bad loss? Warm seat that will cool off.

Henry (Memphis)

Should the Titans bring back Kyle Vanden Bosch? He is over 30 and has an injury history. I think that the Titans need to get younger and more explosive at the critical LDE spot.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:49 PM)

I think people throw around injury history too loosely. One major injury since he's with the Titans. But he's slowing down for sure and it's no guarantee he gets a new deal.

Jeff (NC)

Are you on facebook as Paul Kuharsky?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:50 PM)

Facebook: "Paul Kuharsky Espn," please...Twitter: espn_afcsouth.Please sign up for both immediately.

Brian (Paris)

Who's absence is the biggest cause for the Titans newly porous defense? Haysneworth or Schwartz?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:51 PM)

Griffin, Hope, Finnegan, Harper, Mouton, McCourty.

peyton (georgia)

who do you think is the best team in the afc? colts?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:51 PM)

Yes, Colts.

Todd (LaVergne,TN.)

Is it just me or does it seem like the Titans just finished "rebuilding" only to have 1 ligitamit shot in the playoffs? Here they are 0-5 and heading for another "rebuild" ? Poor front office decisions, coaching decisions, player performance or all of the above has led to this?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:51 PM)

The window wasn't open too long.

Vince Young (Nashville)

I have won alot of games for the Titans is there ever a nice comment you can say about me?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:52 PM)

When I get around to ancient history rather than current events, I will let you know.

Jeff (NC)

What are you feeling for dinner tonight?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:52 PM)

Waldorf Salad from California Pizza Kitchen?

Chris (Brentwood, TN)

I was asking from a purely speculative standpoint what you thought about the likelihood of a complete overhaul for the Titans in the offseason. There are a lot of unrestricted free agents on the team and the system is obviously broken and/or not working. Are we going to witness another start from scratch this soon? Or is the typical Titans move of staying the dead-end course, never reaching the Motherland and barely taking a risk (unless you want to launch an overthrown 20 yard pass on a 4th-and-1).

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:54 PM)

Large overhaul, yes. Need a big draft, need a couple free agents along the lines of Hope-Thornton-Mawae-Scott, need to make the right decisions on which old guys they keep.

Aaron (Nashville)

You know very well that Young and his agent have repeatedly stated their willingness to redo his contract just as former #1 overall Alex Smith did. So why do people keep throwing out that $14.2 million thing?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:55 PM)

I think it's naive to think he lets them out of a $4.75 mil bonus in March. Why would he? He's going to either want to be paid or to play. You think he happily accepts neither?

Dave (Vegas)

With garrad being good and bad so far this season do you see the jags look for a future replacement in next years draft whose name doesnt start with tebow?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:55 PM)

I suspect they will be in the market, yes.

Lane (Kukuihaele, HI)

You answer a lot of questions with a question huh???

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:56 PM)

It's the best way to diffuse nonsense, sometimes. Don't you think?

Brian (Tennessee)

I'm so shell shocked at how the season is going for the Titans that my brain has went on lockdown. I need you to tell me what one person deserves the largest percentage of blame.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:57 PM)

It's not one person. But Fisher's made a lot of miscalculations.

Razel (Texas)

QB you would want the titans to draft go!

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:58 PM)

I am curious to see the Cincy kid tonight. I think they should get a pocket passer.

Reese (Germantown,MD)

Will Marcedes ever learn to catch the ball cleanly?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:58 PM)

He's had a lot of time to get it together.

clint (VA)

who will be the Titans' next "surprise" healthy scratch?Bulluck? KVB? or just Kearse again?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:59 PM)

They won't do it to Bulluck or KVB. Kearse again would be no surprise.

Nick (Columbus, IN)

So do you get to go to Cincy this weekend for some Skyline Chilli? 3 way or 4 way? Please tell me they aren't sending you all the way to New England for a massacre, or to Jacksonville for a real dud. Bengals vs. Texans seems like the only good division game this weekend...

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:00 PM)

I might be staying at home, there could be family developments.

Tim Graham (AFC East)

You can find me on ESPN under "The Greatest ESPN Blogger of All-Time"

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:00 PM)

Actually I can't find you under that.

TITAN BILL (bna)

Paul,Of all the veteran UFA's we have, KB seems to be playing the best. Can you see them keeping him and playing Mcgrath in DT's spot?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:01 PM)

Possible. If there is no cap, they have an extra tag. If they'd pay KB franchise money, that would be one way to keep him.

SB (Jacksonville, FL)

Paul, why is everyone obsessed with the Jags moving because of one bad attendence year? I could see it being a problem if the same thing happens next year. I can vouch that 70% of the non-renewals stated that they did not renew was because of the economy. This is ridiculous for this speculation beacuse of one season.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:02 PM)

This isn't the first time they have not drawn, and the sustainability of the market is a reasonable question.

clint (VA)

what does the Titans' tendency to go thru hot and cold streaks say about their leadership, as opposed to other teams who are more consistant (good or bad) over time?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:03 PM)

To an extent the league is built to make teams cycle like that. Throw out top five consistent teams and how many others would trade for Tennessee's streaks?

Clark (Lexington, ky)

Paul... rank the responsible for each of these for the Titans 0-5 start... Fisher, Cecil, Missing Haynesworth, Collins, secondary play, secondary injuries...

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:04 PM)

Secondary play, Fisher, Cecil, missing Haynesworth.Secondary was healthy for several of those losses, let's not give Jeff that out.

Eric (Indy)

Will the Colts do anything to sure up their PR/KOR before the trade deadline? They can barely even get past the 20 yardline!

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:04 PM)

They aren't trading away a pick for a return man, I don't expect.

Terence (Nashville)

Your tweets bounce to FB- redundant and mildly annoying (the redundancy, not the content)

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:05 PM)

It's intentional. Some people get one or the other, not both. All the bloggers have that set up.Think of it as twice as nice!

Jeff (NC)

Thanks for showing up and answering all of my/our questions, Paul!

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:07 PM)

Thank you/you for coming.

JB (TX)

Answering a question with a question is the new ellipsis.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:07 PM)

Like it...

Henry (Memphis)

The Cincinnati kid Pike is NOT a pocket passer. They run the same spread option offense as Vince Young did at Texas and David Garrard did at East Carolina. Incidentally, so does Tim Tebow. Fascinating how so many people are willing to overlook that.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:07 PM)

See what happens when I try to take a college question?

Finley (via mobile)

You want dinner from the California Pizza Kitchen? See, I'm not the only one with the yearning to be in California!

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:08 PM)

You got me there, buddy.

Jonboy (Lexington, KY)

Why did the Titans cut Edison rather than Hawkins (to make room for Hood)?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:08 PM)

If they did, it would be because they prefer Hawkins to Edison and/or because they expect an easier time getting Edison to practice squad.

Zack (Pensacola, FL)

The Colts signed Hank Baskett after the injury to Gonzo. The dude has some intriguing skills, but do you think we will see him get any action this season with how Collie and Garcon stepped up?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:09 PM)

No need right now.

JB (TX)

PK, how about the poor return game? That was directly responsible for the PIT and NYJ losses.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:09 PM)

And I've killed Fisher for his decision making there, as bad as Mouton's while the ball is in the air.

Finley (via mobile)

By "family developments" you meant "packing for California" right? Right?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:10 PM)

Got me again. Saturday's packing day and Sunday's moving day.

SB (Jacksonville, FL)

So how was it ok for the Bucs and Cardinals, and some others, to go through YEARS of crowds in the 40K range and no speculation came up regarding those franchises.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:10 PM)

They got new stadiums.

Matt (IN)

Alright Mr Yankee fan: Phils and Dodgers tonight. Who would you rather face in the WS?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:11 PM)

I plead the fifth as my wife is a Phillies fan and has long supported my addiction.

Vince Young (Nashville)

Did you forget I have no Cap Number? Also you didnt put any of the blame on Kerry why do i get all the blame when we failed but none of the credit when we win!

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:12 PM)

Right now you're getting none of the credit for the losing, aren't you enjoying that?Short memory. When you won, you got lauded so much you won offensive rookie of the year!

Dave (TN)

More dinner questions. Fascinating. Yawn.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:13 PM)

Way to change things up with a riveting question. Times up folks and we are boring Dave.I really appreciate your time and interest. Please keep clicking.
