Thanks for all the great questions, so far. Keep them coming. I am just about to get Paul on the phone.
Welcome everyone. This is an exciting time as we are getting closer to early signing period. Hope to get to as many questions as possible.
any news on CAL (Monty's) recruiting?
Let's open the day on the West Coast. Coach Mike Montgomery and his staff have a terrifice class for 2010. Good size, great shooters with a lot of depth. The standout of the class is Gary Franklin.
I'm sure 1,000 people will ask this.....Barnes to announce 11/12, UNC or Duke?
To the East Coast. Many people are aksing about Barnes. He is scheduled to announce Nov. 13 on the ESPNU Signing Day Special Show - 2-4:30 ET. Barnes is keeping it close to the vest and he's still deciding between -- Duke, Kansas, UNC, Oklahoma, UCLA and Iowa State. Make sure you une in to find out who gets this prized recruit.
Does the bizarre Dominique Ferguson commit to Florida International stay or does he end elsewhere his freshman year?
Ferguson saw a golden opportunity to play for Isiah Thomas and become an impact player at FIU. He can do this if he gives a consistent effort physicall and mentally, I see no reason why he wouldn't go. He had a chance to go high-majors, but he chose FIU to get a greater opportunity sooner.
How would you rate Marquette's recruiting the last couple years?
Hey Evan, In 2008 they brought in a solid class, 2009 was an outstanding group of 6 players that they desperately needed. 4 high school and 2 JUCO. All though Junior Cadougan is out for this year, which is a big blow this is good core for the future. In 2010, he has two studs - Vander Blue and Jameel Jones.
Tell me Paul--Will Tobias Harris be joining me in College Park next season as a fellow Terrapin? I hear its between the 'Cuse and us. What's the latest??
Harris will be visiting Maryland on Nov. 15, 16, 17 and alot will depend on that visit. He is at West Va. this weekend. He is another top player looking at all his choices diligently.
Do you see Harrison Barnes joining Kyrie Irving at Duke next season?
Hey Eric, I absolutely can see that because they are very close. Any time there is a top PG that you can play with is a plus. At the same time you can make a case for Barnes a lot of places, but it sounds like a great duo to me - Barnes and Irving.
What do you think of Brandon Knight? If he were to go to Kansas, how do you feel he would fit in with the youth of guards? (Elijah Johnson, Tyshawn Taylor, Brady Morningstar, Tyrel Reed, Travis Releford)
Hey Jordan, I love Knight's game, ability and think highly of him as a person. If he were to go to Kansas and play with their guards that would be an outstanding group of players for Bill Self. Kansas is at the top of his list, I believe.
Hi Paul, I'm just wondering with Harrison Barnes announcement coming in just one week, where do you see him playing his college ball in 2010?
Hey Nick. It's really hard to forecast what Barnes is going to do. You could make a strong case for every school. It's tough to speculate. Hope you watch our show as we all find out.
Will Sheehey is visiting Indiana this weekend. Do the Hoosiers get a commitment and what type of impact would he have on the IU team?
Hey Mark, I spoke to Sheehy's coach and they really like Tom Crean. Crean is at the top of his profession as a head coach and Indiana has a great legacy. This will have a strong impact on the IU team as they compete with the upper-echelon of the Big 10.
What is the likelihood that CJ Leslie follows his high school teammate John Wall to UK next year?
Hi Michael, Leslie has a big list of schools, still. But KY is one of the favorites. There is a great chance he ends up there, but he won't be playing with Wall -- who will be in the NBA.
Which of these uncommitted players do you think Kentucky has the best shot at getting? Brandon Knight, C.J. Leslie, Josh Selby, Terence Jones, Tobias Harris, Doron Lamb
Hey Bryan, Knight, Selby, Leslie and Jones in that oreder. But it's really Knight or Selby because they both play the same position. Harris has them at the top of his list and Lamb is leaning toward Kansas right now.
I read a report that said that Roscoe Smith had made a decision but is waiting to announce... Is he waiting to hear what Harrison Barnes will do?
Timmy, I have been in close contact with the Smith situation. I don't think he is waitong to hear from Barnes. His choices appear to be UConn, Georgetown and Duke. Unless he is waiting to hear of Barnes is going to Duke, which they could still play together.
your thoughts on BC's class including Hesplip, Noreen, and Ndao? thanks.
What's going on in Beantown -- my home town. I love the way BC recruits. They find talented players who can help them win but are under the radar. It is a unique knack that Al Skinner and the rest of the staff has. Nado is a great athlete with some skill and can real finish in the open floor. He comes out of the powerful Mont Verde Academy. Heslip is a hard-nosed PG who can shoot it deep and plays with a great pace and confidence.
Where does the Mich. State duo of Payne and Appling rank as the best 1-2 punches in a 2010 recruiting class?
Hi Andrew, I love Tom Izzo's recruitiing this duo is outstanding. We will see at the end of the signing period what other duos compare, but there are a lot more wins/championships coming to East Lansing.
Where is Josh Smith going to end up?
The gentle giant is finishing his football season right now and his decision will come down to Washington and UCLA.
What is the latest on Tarik Black? If Marquette lands him, will that get them in the top 10?
It will put them offaly close, but he's still looking at Marquette, Memphis, Florida, Alabama and Tenn. His AAU teammate Memphis commit Joe Jackson, which could also be a factor.
what do you think of Kendall Marshall and Reggie Bullock and what they'll bring to UNC?
After watching both of them and gettign to know them, they are two young men with high character. They love to compete and win. Kendall may be the best passer in 2010 class and runs the point like a coach wants him to. Bullock is a great shooter with size. This is a dynamic duo going to Chapel Hill.
Why hasn't Utah ever gotten a major recruit in the past few years? Can they compete without a blue-chip player?
Hey Evan, Utah has gotten some very good high school players with talent as well as the occasional JUCO player. Often times Utah recruits players who are off the beaten path. Jim Boylen and his staff do an excellent job competing with high majors. Winning 24 games last season was evident of his recruiting and excellent coaching ability.
Will Clemson end up getting Jason Morris?
Morris is an incredible athlete who plays above the rim and is at his best in transition. Clemson, Georgia Tech and NC State are in the mix. Clemson has a great shot.
Hey Paul, great chat. Thoughts on Bradley Beal? Illinois or Kansas?
<a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=66909&season=2011">Bradley Beal</a>'s an outstanding guard who is an elite level player in his class. He is rated No. 15 in the Class of 2011. Right now those two schools are in the lead for his services. It looked as though he was going to commit earlier to one of them, but has yet to pull the trigger.
How do you see Uconn class shaping up . Do they have a shot for Knight
UConn is making a strong push for Knight and he has already made an official visit there. They have an excellent guard Jeremy Lamb and a promising post player in Michael Bradley.
Hey Paul, just wondering what your thoughts are on 2011 prospect Quincy Miller? I'm intrigued with his skill set and who do you think he is comparable to?
Hey Trey, <a href="http://insider.espn.go.com/ncb/recruiting/tracker/player?recruitId=77359&season=2011">Quincy Miller</a> (originally from Chicago) who is No. 8 in the ESPNU Super 60 is a 6-8 highly-skilled player with excellent instincts. At a young age there is a lot to work on, but his ceiling is very high. He reminds me of a young Kevin Durant.
If unc does not get Barnes do they look else where or wait til next year?
First of all, UNC has two great players coming in already -- Bullock and Marshall and in 2011 they have James McAdoo and PJ Hairston, so UNC is not in a rush but there's a possibility they could look at the best uncommitted in 2010.
What are Memphis' chances of landing Hippolyte Tsafack?
Hey Jeremy, Tsafack has great physical potential and plays with a high motor. He is an explosive athlete and looks to dunk everything near the basket. Memphis is right there with Alabama, Maryland and West Virginia.
what kind of player is taran buie and what will he bring to the nittany lions
Hey Bryan, Buie is an excellent addition to PSU's program. He is a SG always on the attack who plays with toughness and plays for the team. This is a terrific job by Ed DeChellis and his staff. Buie should be a go-to guy for them in the future.
Who would you compare James McAdoo to in today's game? Is he a one and done player?
Right now I don't have a comparison. But he plays intelligently and has the potential to be a one-and-done. I would like to see continued development, but if he does. There is no question.
Hey Paul, where do you think Tony Mitchell will end up? Missouri have a good chance?
Hey John, Mitchell -- one time commit to KSU -- has re-opened his recruiting. he will wait for the late signing period. Watch out for Missouri because he close with Phil Pressey. Also keep an eye on Cincy and FIU.
Sounds like Cory Joseph had a good trip to Minnesota. Think he ends up following Devoe to play for Tubby?
Last one folks. Hey Mike, Joseph did have a good visit at Minn. He may be waiting to sign in the late period, word has it. Conn, Texas and UNLV are also right there.
Thanks for all the great questions and your interest in recruiting. Please make sure to watch out Signing Day Show at 2 pm ET on ESPNU for the latest notes on recruiting.
