Thanks for the joining the recruiting chat today. We are heading down the stretch and are starting to see a lot of significant commitments and visits. Lets get to the questions!
What type of impact do you think new UCLA running back Jordon James can have for the Bruins? Can he contribute right away in Westwood or what.
I think he will see the field early and has big-play speed and explosiveness.
I don't think he will come in and carry the load right away though
needs to continue getting bigger and stronger to improve durability....hey don't forget about UCLA's recent pickup of OLB olaniyan
With Shaw and a few other big ones likely to follow is Florida a lock for the No. 1 class in February? Go Gators!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At this point I don't see anyone overtaking them but things could change down the stretch
Their DB class is outstanding, particularly with the pickup of Shaw
Meyer and DC Charlie Strong may be planning for CBs Hayden and Jenkins leaving early
Can saban continue to be in the top of recruiting and contend for the national Championship every year he coaches the crimson tide. Who else is Alabama looking at? And who do u think the tide could use the most?
Saban runs his program like an NFL franchise and prospects knows its a school that will prepare them best for Sundays and while winning on Saturdays.
Think they could use some 3-4 LB help and have an outside shot at Jeff Luc and Jordan Hicks, the Tide filled needs at QB, CB and TE alreasy
What can the Heels expect from Bryn Renner? Can he challenge for the starting spot as a RS Freshman?
Marc, we thought he was one of the more underrated QBs in the country last year with a ton of upside, we expect him to challenge next year.
How is Stanford's great season helping the Cardinals recruit. Will they be able to compete with USC off the field now....as long as Jim Harbaugh is here?
I think the winning should help secure this good class that was built before this successful 2009 season
ESPNU 150 RB Wilkerson has the physical tools to potentially develop into the next Toby Gerhart.
Not sure if they will make a living beating out USC for recruits, and might not have too, Harbaugh seems to recruit more of the under the radar, blue-collar type -- and the formula is working
Is Texas still in the mix for Jordan Hicks?
I don't think much has changed in recent weeks with Hick's recruitment. He and his mother seemed to really enjoy their visit to Texas but feel UF and OSU have a strong shot at the nations best LB.
How do you see the soon to be coaching change to effect there recruits they have and the ones condsidering?
I do think Weis is likely out but this class could stay intact if they have a big name replacement ready to step in without giving committed recruits time to sit in uncertainty down the stretch
Most kids we talk to pick ND for the football and academic tradition not just the head coach
Do you see Chris Martin still going to Notre Dame?
Sticking with ND, I know their is speculation he's looking around and obviously taking visits but I see Martin sticking, at least for now.
Billy, after Jeff Luc's visit this past week to Athens he said that the Dawgs have a good shot to land him and that he is not a lock to stay in state? What do you think?
Got to spend time with Jeff and his coaches at his Under Armour ceremony last week..here's my take.
I would say it comes down to UF and actually LSU. Just my speculation, Jeff keeps most of his recruitment close to the vest. Think UGA is in the mix but wont be a finalist.
Does FSU still have a good shot with LB Jeff Luc or is our terrible season hurting our chances?
I think FSU is on the outside looking in now. He is scheduled to visit this weekend.
Billy, is this the first year in a while that we wont see USC finish in the top-10 in recruiting, I was shocked to see them lose on an in state guy like Shaw, they always locked guys like that up
USC was in the top-10 in our last class rankings but may slide out in our next one due more to what other programs have done.
Yes, the Trojans don't usually lose top instate guys but think they will close on some top ESPNU 150 national prospects down the stretch.
What are the chances Oklahoma can land both Jackson Jeffcoat and Seantrel Henderson?
Ryan, both Henderson and Jeffcoat are not overly vocal with their recruitment and two of the more difficult guys to speculate on. That said, I do think OU will be in the mix for both.
Doe AJ Derby play QB or DB in college?
Think he is a good fit for Iowa and their pro-style scheme. He may take some some time to develop as a pure QB though and the coaches may be tempted to play him elsewhere during that time, maybe safety or even H or fullback.
What are the chances receiver Darius White becomes a Longhorn?
ESPN's Gerry Hamilton is reporting that White is taking an official to Austin this weekend.
Oklahoma appeared to be a favorite but think Texas will close strong on the Under Armour All American
Do u see AJ Cann and Erik Mack making any impact on South Carolina's offensive line next year?
Both are great offensive guard prospects, Cann could play center which would help his chances. I like Mack's earlier ability at this time due his massive size, power and deceptively polished fundamentals.
you said no on luc, what about lamarcus joyner?
I would say FSU signs Joyner in Feb. he's scheduled to visit Tallahassee this weekend. He's a GREAT talent with the ability to play early where ever he goes. Reminds me of FSU CB Greg Reid, same swagger and competitiveness
Will TN land a top QB this year? Surprising to see Kiffin have so much trouble landing one.
CC, they already got one! Tyler Bray is one of the more underrated guys in the country with a strong arm awesome upside. He's our No. 6 QB and a great for for Tenn offense.
No one can overtake Florida? What if Hicks,White and the number 1 player on the board Jeffcoat all go to Texas.
Joey, that could happen and yes there would be an obvious battle for the top spot of Texas can land all three.
Bray only has offers from Fresno State and SDSU according to what I've read!
Not all about offers, check out our evaluation on him and he has played up to par at any camp we have attended with other top quarterback prospects including the Elite 11.
Marcus Lattimore - does he stay home or does a school like Penn State have a legitimate shot? Thanks.
We are hearing that South Carolina is the frontrunner. Auburn and UNC are in it, PSU and Oregon are darkhorses.
Two big time DTs - Shariff Floyd and Thorton. Where do these two end up? Thanks.
I think Thornton stays instate with UGA with PSU and Auburn in the mix
Floyd will likely come down to USC, UF and Ohio State but is more difficult to pick a favorite at this time.
Hey Guys, I'm noticing the buckeyes are fading in the minds of the upper talented prospects (Shaw, Joyner etc.) since the USC game. What do you guys see as being the reason for this? Tressel's converticism on offense or a non blitz zone heavy Defense?
Don't count OSU out yet. I still think they have a shot with Joyner and Shaw was a tough get. They are winning and will continue to attract top national prospects. Agree Tressel's offense may not be as attractive to some game breaking prospects. It is what it is.
Any Pitt recruits excite you? Thanks
We really like ath Anthony Gonzalez he is very raw but an exciting prospect.
He could stay at QB, although not a great fit in that scheme, and has exciting physical tools there if they can take time to polish him.
What position does Colorado need to recruit in the most?
Unfortunately after watching them this year I think they need a lot. QB and speed at the skills positions are immediate needs in my opinion.
Will my Hoosiers ever get a good recruiting class and not just a bunch of 1 star/walk-ons? I haven't heard of any current top recruit choosing IU!
Most of the top instate players are committed and they just lost key three-star J. Black to Cincy.
I do like LB Ishmael Thomas, 3-star prospect out of Michigan currently committed.
Thanks for joining today, its an exciting time of year for recruiting. Look forward to chatting soon!
