Good morning, gang. Ready for an hour of fantasy chat - both Week 15 football, and MLB hot stove as well. Before we begin though... sad news to report to those who haven't heard about the passing Chris Henry. Condolences go out to his family and those who knew him.
OK, guys... Who's up first?
Which Brown RB do you trust this week and will you start him over Ganther?
Trust? None, really. Jennings is clearly the one to start there, as Harrison just won't be given a shot. Because of the matchup, I would go with him over Q.
What do you think about Dwayne Bowe this weekend? Need to decide between him and TO.
KC has no other real options, but Bowe's return gives me more confidence in Chris Chambers than himself - too much time away and the Browns D playing with a bit more confidence. Plus, the TO-Moss rivalry should be enough to motivate Mr. Owens.
Thinking of benching Pierre Thomas, is almost nil touchdown potential is deflating, in favor of Beanie Wells. What do you think?
You're trying to read the mind of Whisenhunt? On the one hand, b/c he benched Hightower after one fumble, you may think Beanie's the man for Week 15. However, the Cards lost badly without Hightower in there. I think it ends up being back to fairly even time share. However, if Bell is indeed healthy in NO, you've got the same situation there. It comes down to the fact I trust Thomas a bit more.
MBIII...has disappointed thus far, but I forsee a bounce this week. Do you?
No. I see a blowout victory for the Saints. And that Dallas O-line isn't fixing itself anytime soon.
I hear that Josh Cribbs could be used at RB for the Browns (and he ran as a wildcat QB with much succes against Pittsburgh last week), but he seem to get no love in any WR rankings... how good of a play is he this week as a WR against KC? Better than Crabtree , A. Bryant, or Steve Smith (Car)?
My take on Cribbs is that he's a one-trick pony in this offense. When he lined up against the Steelers in the Wildcat everyone knew where he was going - Pitt was just too cold, too apathetic to get there first. As a WR, he has little value. If he gets handoffs, I still think the offense is too predictable for a big day. I go Crabtree or Smith ahead of him.
All four ranks have MSW above Nicks. Do you agree? I'm not sure I see MSW rebounding.
I think MSW is a risk, but one worth taking as Indy's pass defense is pretty generous. Plus, I don't like taking any Giants receivers this Monday Night - that crowd is going to be jacked up with the change at the top (GM) and the Skins on the field should respond in a big way, looking to impress the new boss.
Do you start Britt over Roddy due to the Revis Factor, also what about Maroney over Gore due to the Eagles D?
Only if VY is in there. With Collins, I'd roll with White and hope Revis slides to T-Gonz for a quarter or two. I'm also going with Gore. Maroney *should* have a big day, but Philly's defense doesn't really scare me... plus with Morris and possibly Taylor returning, I don't have total confidence Maroney gets all the carries he has been.
Based on your above response regarding NYG receivers, would you bench Steve Smith for Garcon or Crabtree?
Yup. Either one would be a better play IMO. I lean to Garcon, since I think Wayne might be a Colts player that gets an early night off - he's not been at 100 percent lately.
I hear defense wins match ups, so I am carrying three into the second round of playoffs. Stop laughing! I have Houston (vs. StL), NYJ (vs. AtL) and GB (vs. Pit). Which one would you start this week?
I go with Houston, especially with STL's really awful QB situation.
AJ, How can I get your Fantasy Newsletter? Tough one here, need to sit one of these RB's: Moreno, Charles, and LDT. also Colston or Driver?
Sign up on the fantasy homepage, about halfway down, below the picture of TMR. I sit LDT, based solely on the track record of Tomlinson killing fantasy owners this time of year in the past. I also go with Driver over Colston this week. Pitt D is in a world of hurt.
With Zach Miller having another concussion, do you think Keller or Scaife are better choices for a TE this week?
Yes. I go with Keller if Collins goes in TEN, but Scaife if Clemens goes in NYJ. Wow, a lot of team's have QB issues, don't they?
Follow up to Mike from Texas' question... The respective match-ups for Wells (vs. Detroit) and Thomas (vs. Dallas) doesn't sway you at all?
No, because it's all about touches. If Wells is only going to get 5 carries, I don't care if he's playing 11 on 5.
Am I relevant this week?
Relevant but risky. You're a great play for those who are low seeds who have nothing to lose, but even though your coach is talking you up big time, there's still Moats and Brown there and nobody, not even Kubiak himself truly knows who will be in there come red zone.
WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT PICKING UP THE KICKER OF THE YOUR OPPOSING QB? I AM FACING PEYTON, SHOULD I START STOVER OR HARTLEY?
Drink some tea. Get some rest. Turn off CAPS LOCK. When you feel better in a few hours, flip a coin.
yes, i play fantasy football too, and i made it to the 2nd round of the playoffs on a tie breaker. But I got a tough QB situation like most NFL teams, who do I start, Eli Manning, or Campbell?
Ho, ho, ho! I go with Campbell, but at least you get to wait until Monday morning to decide. Maybe it won't matter.
With Culpepper most likely starting at QB, would you sit Calvin Johnson for either Dwayne Bowe or Steve Smith (carolina)
No, I actually like Megatron better with Culpepper. He's got nothing to lose, so he can just air it out. He's not trying to "learn" anything like Stafford. Plus with Smith out, the pass will be emphasized.
That was Kevin Smith.
Am I worth starting over Ganther or McCoy?
In a word, no.
Do I play the whole game or sit after halftime? Coach is talking about resting injured players and I'm on the report.....
Who isn't on the report? I think you are probably the most indispensable Colts player other than Peyton, so with a lead you sit... but if it's close, you play. Start Addai and root for the Jags.
When do you want me to start loosening up AJ? 2nd quarter, 3rd quarter...or will I just hold the clipboard tonight?
Oh, Jim... did they not tell you that you're on the IR? It's Curtis Painter. But thanks for playing...
grant or fred jacksoN?
Jackson. Just don't see Grant doing it this week.
AJ- please help with my WR dilemma - I need to pick 2 between R White, D Bowe, J Cotchery, and Mo-Ma.
Now that is a dilemma. I go with White and Bowe.
I'm a big underdog in the semis of my PPR league. Do I take a flier and start Arian Foster (STL) or Ganther (NYG) over SJax (Hou)?
I ride Steven Jackson. I'm all for taking chances, but S-Jax is the most talented of the three - as long as his back holds up.
I'm famous. Answer my question. Which running back in the GB-Pitt game? I was leaning Mendenhall, but Pitt has been soft against both run and pass recently.
I'm going on break for a second, but I'll let my friends from Jon Bovi answer this one... Mendenhall is like good poison, good poison is not what I need!
What keeper league rules do you like?
Ones that were written down before the draft. ; )
Is Jason Avant going to rebound after his 0 catch performance last week? Do you prefer him or Fitz?
Fitz is playing, ergo Fitz is starting for me. No question.
It's bad medicine, not good poison... the boys from New Jersey would be soooo disappointed!
You're clearly not a fan of the greatest opposite band of all time, Nathan.
With all this talk about resting players for Colts, Saints, and vikes.......who are your biggest concerns? Brees? Peterson, Colston? what do you think.TIMMY!!!!!!!!
None this week. It's Week 15. No decent coach is really going to go overboard on the resting of players with a month before the playoffs. Just as in any other game, though, a big lead will result in 4th quarter sitdowns... but it could come for any team's studs.
DYING ON A CURRRRRRRRRRSE!!! With Burleson out, how much do you upgrade Houshmandzadeh this week? Play him over Roy Williams or Antonio Bryant?
I actually upgrade the Deons more. Housh hasn't looked good to me at all, and I'd rather give Williams a chance.
Hi AJ, I think I'm actually going to need some definite points from my TE this week, Shiancoe might not cut it if he doesn't get a TD. Do you like Finley's chances to score 6+ points this week against Pittsburgh?
I like them better than Shiancoe, who might not even play with some bad ribs.
wondering who you think better this week favre or romo
I'd start Romo. I think the Saints will win, but I also think Romo can get lots of cheap yards underneath to Witten that add up.
What are your thoughts on Antonio Bryant this week against a weak Seattle secondary? He seems to be effective when healthy..
He won't have Revis running after him this week. I think he'll be OK.
Commish question.... Last place team just dropped TO to pick up Chris Cooley as keeper pick for next year. But he could have dropped ANY other scrub on his bench for him. He dropped TO because his buddy needs a WR, and I'm facing him this week in the playoffs. Fair or not?
Another reason I go with frozen rosters for all teams in the playoffs. I have no issue with the Cooley pickup, or the TO drop, from the last place team's point of view... that a fair keeper league move. But to allow pickups of these castoffs? Not a wise move.
AJ please help! Is it safe to start collie tonight or will he be riding the pine at some point?
Collie is not going to be the first candidate for a seat. Let's not overreact here. I don't expect Painter -to- Gijon all night long.
we love FFL across the pond...good choices, tough decision...pick 2 out of s jax, ricky and moreno (ppr league). thanks!
Sitting Ricky. Cheers!
With K. Smth injury, how does that affect his Keeper value,, would you keep him over Gates now? My other keeper rb are Benson, Mendenhall, or M. Barber
Cutback Suarez may not be ready for Week 1 next season, from what I hear. That's a reason to throw him back in the pool.
Brrrr!!! What impact will I have on Brady???
Last forecast I saw had much of the heavy stuff being a Saturday night thing, tapering off by Sunday AM. That would mean little impact once the field is cleared... and Brady has had great games in the snow anyway... not worried.
Skins crowd is going to be jacked up over a GM change? Wow, your really reaching....
You obviously don't know the Redskins situation. They've been calling for his firing for some time now, and the Giants are in town, and it's a National TV game... they'll be fired up.
But with Brady's not so stellar play from his trinity of injuries I'd be more worried about him from that then snow
Give it up to the man from Kangaroo land. Good point, Doug.
Breakdown the RB's... browns, pats, texans... old-school ranking style.. And any thoughts on Russell from Survivor?
Jennings/Cribbs/HarrisonFoster/Brown/MoatsFaulk/Maroney/Taylor/MorrisRussell is the winner if he gets past this week.
Any thougths on kickers in bad weather games...safer to just drop them for domers?
That's about the only factor I would use in deciding on a kicker. Yes.
Redskins are going to bring it on Monday. The city is already jacked up for MNF. You're right on AJ.
AJ I don't think you like me. You haven't answered 1 of my questions all year. I'm getting a complex.
Somebody give Anthony a hug.
Hey AJ, are you crazy enough to start A.Foster, J.Harrison or Bradshaw over Forte in the 2nd rd?
I'd think long and hard about Foster. That's about it. Harrison won't get the touches and Bradshaw's still not doing it for me.
I'm an indian, on a cotton horse i do not ride. Brady safe to play or would you roll with Hassleback?
I'll take my chances with Tom.
I'll hug Anthony if you answer my question! Pick 2 flex: Ganther, Foster, F. Jackson, or D Mason?
Fred and Mason.
TJ vs. the Bucs or Donald Driver?
Driving with Donald.
Ganther, Pierre or Foster at Flex?
That's the buzzer. Thanks for all the questions... have a happy holiday season and we'll see you the next time on Villa Alegre!
