Scouts Inc.'s football recruiting chat

Craig Haubert
  (3:02 PM)

Welcome recruiting fans!!! - Been a busy and strange few weeks with All-Star games and surprising coaching changes. Been a very crazy 24 hours - so lots to discuss - lets get going.

tyler (orlando)

do you think some recruits will follow kiffin from tennessee to usc?

Craig Haubert
  (3:04 PM)

I think it is very possible and something to keep an eye on. I think the two most likely to follow are S Ahmad Dixon and WR Markeith Ambles.

Maurice S (fort pierce,fl)

Do you think David Cutcliffe should be UT's prime target?

Craig Haubert
  (3:07 PM)

Yes at this time -- I think UT is a program that has experienced little change over the last few decades and now in a year they have experienced a lot of change. I think bringing Cutcliffe in would be smart because he is familiar with Tennessee and Vols fans are familiar with him.

Craig Haubert
  (3:08 PM)

I think he did a nice job of recruiting to Duke, and could do well at UT maybe not as flashy as Kiffin, but can do well. I think he would be good to develop Tyler Bray who said he is staying. In the meantime they could find another coach to groom and make a coach in waiting.

Nick (Minneapolis)

Any word on Hendrix?

Craig Haubert
  (3:10 PM)

Looks like good news for the Fighting Irish, Hendrix looks to be firm with ND and will sign with them.

Teng (Fresno)

What are the chances USC lands Seastrunk, Henderson, and Jeffcoat on signing day?

Craig Haubert
  (3:14 PM)

I think they will go 0-for-3 on those names listed - I think Jeffcoat to Texas - Seastrunk not sure, but don't think USC -- he appears to not be visiting USC any more- Henderson may be the most likely, but i think he stays in midwest.

Justin (OR)

Where do you think Lattimore ends up? Why do you think he was demoted in latest 150 rankings?

Craig Haubert
  (3:16 PM)

I think it will be between South Carolina and Auburn, Tigers seem to be picking up some steam, but at this time i think he signs with South Carolina.

Craig Haubert
  (3:18 PM)

He made a slight drop, nothing big still top 20 overall and the N0. 2 RB. We think he is a great back, but minor concerns are his ability to gain yards after contact consistently and he did have some flashes of fumbling problems.

adam (dover)

i think they should make a move for Kirby Smart he would be a great choice for UT

Craig Haubert
  (3:19 PM)

I can't argue with that - I think that would be a good choice and i think the second best choice at this time.

jake (fl)

what do you think the gators chances of landing Jordan Hicks and Chaz Green are?

Craig Haubert
  (3:21 PM)

I think the Gators have a VERY good shot at Hicks at this time, Chaz Green?? Tough to say - looked like he was a Tennessee lean so will need to wait a few days and see how things shake out to get a read on him.

Andrew (Kempten, Germany)

Clemson's 2011 class is looking pretty good. Do you think it could end up a top-10 class?

Craig Haubert
  (3:23 PM)

Three weeks from 2010 National Signing Day and you are already asking about 2011?? Yes Clemson off to a good start for next year, but still long way to go!

Robb (Colorado)

Any chance Prater switches to ND? Is Kelly gaining ground with anyone else, ie. Henderson, Jones.

Craig Haubert
  (3:25 PM)

No - he seems all set with USC and looks to be set to enroll next week

adam (forrest hills)

how will Miami's recruting class be, will it still be a top 25 class

Craig Haubert
  (3:27 PM)

It seems some people looking at questions are a little concerned about Miami, don't be - they most certainly have a top 25 class and at this point likely a top 15.

marc (dc)

Do you see the Buckeyes pulling in any of the top recruits left (Henderson, Hicks etc)?

Craig Haubert
  (3:28 PM)

Between Florida, Texas, & Ohio State I think the Buckeyes are third for Hicks, but I do think they have a good shot at landing Henderson.

Richard (Greensboro, NC)

Can the Hokies make a late push on some of the in-state recruits and become a top 25 class?

Craig Haubert
  (3:31 PM)

I think VT is right on that top 25 cusp at this point, likely just on the inside, but some late additions could help solidify a spot - a nice pick-up would be DE Kareem Martin out of NC who they have a shot at.

Zack (Pittsburgh, PA)

Should there be any concern over the latest decommits from Penn State, (Easley and Coxson)?

Craig Haubert
  (3:36 PM)

Losing those two hurt, especially Easley -- but still a top 10 caliber class for the Nittany Lions - though I understand if you are a Penn State fan you would like to see them finish stronger, but still a good year on the recruiting trail for them.

Jeff (Los Angeles)

Do you think that if Pete Carroll had stayed they would have landed maybe Jeffcoat, Powell, or Henderson? Or any one of those players?

Craig Haubert
  (3:37 PM)

If Carroll had stayed I think it may have increased the chances of them landing Jeffcoat, I think Powell was headed to Florida regardless.

Jim (Florida)

Michigan has just one player in ESPN's 150. It seems like Rich Rod can't recruit like Lloyd Carr could. Do you think Michigan will land any more top players for this class?

Craig Haubert
  (3:40 PM)

Not a very flashy class for Michigan, I think the best shot they have at landing another ESPNU 150 prospect at this point is S Sean Parker - outside of that I don't see them signing any others outside of Devin Gardner.

joey (tx)

If Muschamp leaves Texas, does that for sure mean we wont get Hicks?

Craig Haubert
  (3:42 PM)

He is not leaving.

Daniel (Portland)

Do you think Oregon has a legitimate shot at Owa or King?

Craig Haubert
  (3:45 PM)

I would be surprised if Gabe King did not go with Oregon - Owa - he has it down to 4 - I think the Ducks are the team to beat, but tough to truly say at this point with him.

todd (colorado )

how do the buckeyes finish?

Craig Haubert
  (3:48 PM)

Like I said earlier I would be surprised if they get Hicks -- I think the two big prospects out there for them are OT Seantrel Henderson & OT Matt James as far as good chance of being able to land.

Jake (VA Beach)

How much difference can enrolling now/early make on incoming recruits?

Craig Haubert
  (3:50 PM)

It is huge Jake -- if you get a prospect on campus early it allows him to be able to get acclimated to classes and college life without the stress of games and they can go through spring ball -- i think Jake it really increases the chances of a player being able to help as a true freshman.

Craig Haubert
  (3:51 PM)

Thanks for stopping by everyone - I have to run - take care. We will be back next Wednesday.
