Hello. I hope everyone is well - believe it or not we are 2 weeks from National Signing Day (NSD)!!!! Lots going on so lets get into it.
Where does Jackson Jeffcoat end up?
Top uncommitted player at this point. It looked like Texas - USC for a long time, but since Pete Carroll left we have felt Texas is where he lands. I still think Texas is the team to beat, but he is suppose to visit Oklahoma this weekend. So Texas is the team we feel, but things could get interesting down the stretch with OU, especially if they should hire his father as the DL coach as there has been some speculation about that.
What do you think of fsu class? Is christian jones a most likely or probable of joining fsu class? Do you know who else will joing the garnet & gold?
The Seminoles are doing well, very well considering the season they had and that Bobby Bowden is gone. Heading towards NSD they have a top 10 class. I think Christian Jones does land at FSU - and would say most likely.
As far as some possible additions down the stretch for the 'Noles - I could see them landing Christian Green for sure and keep an eye on DE Corey Lemonier and S Demar Dorsey - not as confident with those two as I am with the two Christians, but FSU is the running for them.
Does Texas get any help at running back this offseason?
Not what you might hope for as a Texas fan, they do have Traylon Shead on board and he is a solid back and keep an eye on the athletic Demarco Cobbs. It appears that he will get a shot at RB first and could be a good fit there.
Do expect the Longhorns to make a big push for talented 2011 RB Aaron Green out of San Antonio.
are the irish getting anyone to replace Tate?
Golden Tate was a good one and will be tough to replace. The only guy I see that I could say at this time could be as good is Tai-ler Jones. Like Tate he is an overall good athlete not just a good wide receiver.
What did Ronald Powell do to shoot him up to the top prospect?
Derek he was No. 3 overall prior to the last re-rankings. So he did not shot up as much as he just moved up. We think Jeffcoat is an excellent end, but overall Powell is just a little more versatile. We have seen him play LB, TE, and DE and do all three very well. Not much difference between the two, but Powell's overall athleticism, versatility got him the edge and No. 1 spot.
Where do you think James Stone OL from Nashville will end up? Would like to see him go to bama.
Well looks like Stone will wait until NSD so who knows what happens, but at this point I think Bama is the team to beat.
Given the whole Kiffin-to-USC-Dooley-to-UT change, Has the "bleeding" stopped on UTs recruiting class or are more commits looking to change?
Yes and all things considered it was not that bad. Yes they lost some guys, but some good players stayed also. Tyler Bray the QB, Corey Miller the DE. Plus they just added WR Justin Hunter who de-committed from LSU to join the Vols class. A huge get for Derek Dooley as he starts his reign.
I do think though that Markeith Ambles could still bolt.
Would it be a disappointment if Florida's class of 2010 didn't win an SEC or BCS championship in its time there?
Good question Kole. We talk about how great this class is and it is excellent, but truly only time will tell how good it is or was. On paper this is a great class, but they have to get on the field, stay on field, perform, etc. I think though that looking at the talent of this class it is accurate to say that it would be a disappointment if this class didn't win at least an SEC title.
Any guess on who Seastrunk will say on signing day? I heard a rumor its going to be Oregon.
It looks like Seastrunk will actually commit prior to NSD - I believe he had announced next Wednesday. As far as where he goes, I hear that rumor also and think he is likely to become a Duck.
Do you think Seantrel Henderson ends up with USC?
No - I am leaning towards Ohio State
hey whats goin on how well of a class do you think michigan has right now?
I think that Michigan fans may be a little disappointed with this class because it will not rank as high as past Michigan classes, but overall it is a top 20 class. Has a very good QB coming in that is a great fit. I think the Wolverines could still add some talent. Keep an eye on S Sean Parker as a possibility and especially Earnest Thomas.
Did UK get any immediate impact players in their recruiting class this year?
Some good talent in the Wildcats class. I could see undersized but tough RB Raymond Sanders contributing early on. I do see some good players in that class like CB Dale Trimble, but not too many that could make an immediate impact.
Chances of Jordan Hicks becoming a gator?
The Hicks picture seems to be getting cloudier by the day. At this point I am saying out of 100 - 45% UF, 30% Texas, 25% Ohio State.
Where do you see Corey Lemonier landing?
Who is the sleeper in UGA's class?
At this moment i am going with the hot hand - Auburn, but Miami and FSU are real contenders also. Tough one.
I hit the wrong bottom - that post is naturally for the Lemonier question - I will now answer the Georgia question. Sorry about that.
Overall - Georgia has a good class - top five at this time, so really not many guys that can come from no where and surprise people. Do though keep an eye on QB Hutson Mason - a good under-the-radar QB. Good ability and upside - check out his evaluation.
Please tell me ASU is not at the bottom of the PAC 10 recruiting classes!
I could tell you that, but it would be a lie. Seriously though not a great class for the Sun Devils. Maybe not at the bottom, but certainly in the lower half.
Any improvements in recruiting for Syracuse after a slightly more competitive 2009 season?
The Orange have a big class and while they are still not making big waves there are some bright spots in this class. QB Jonny Miller is a very good big pickup and someone 'Cuse fans should be excited about. Some solid skill players in CB Jeremi Wilkes and WR Adrian Flemming. The Orange went to Colo., Florida, and VA. for those 3 guys so they are working at.
do you think florida can hang onto having the number one class? any ideas on who can overtake them?
Yes - I think it would be really hard to surpass Florida even if they lost S Demar Dorsey. The most serious contender is Texas. The Longhorns have a very good class and could get a lot better if they can add Jeffcoat and /or Hicks. Even if they got both though - I think Florida's is that good and they hold on, plus I think the Gators add some more by NSD.
I have to run - great questions!!! We will be back next week as we get closer to NSD. Check out the Recruiting Insider on ESPNU tonight and next Wednesday at 6PM EST.
