Hello everyone, thanks for all your questions. I am about to get JC on the phone.

JC Shurburtt
  (3:00 PM)

Hi everyone, we are her to talk recruiting one week from signing day. Let's get it started.

Marcus (Topeka, KS)

How has Turner Gill's first season recruiting for the Jayhawks gone so far?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:01 PM)

Pretty good for a first year effort. I think we will really see Gill and staff make an impact in the 2011 class.

Jim (Chicago)

Apart from Matt James, who do you think ND will close with in the next week?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:02 PM)

Right now, Matt James is the best bet for Notre Dame. You never know what's going to happen, though.

Chris (Murfreesboro, TN)

Will LSU get any surprise commits?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:03 PM)

It is possible. Kadron Boone is someone to watch.

Jorge (Guatemala)

Do you Know any status on Demar Dorsey, Jordan Hicks, Chaz Green and Christian Green?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:04 PM)

Gut feeling is that Demar Dorsey will stick with UF, but you can't dismiss Florida State or USC. He's been committed to the Gators for so long though. I project Chaz Green to Florida, Christian Green to Florida State and Hicks to Florida or Texas right now.

Eli (atlanta, Ga)

I was taking a look at the recruiting classes, and realized while oklahoma has a great class overall, they don't have a single 5-star prospect. Past the fight for the Jackson Jeffcoat with texas, is oklahoma in the running for ANY remanining five star prospects? if so, what are there chances. Thanks a bunch for answering

JC Shurburtt
  (3:05 PM)

Hey Eli, Jeffcoat is it barring a surprise. I would not get too caught up in the lack of five stars, though. This is still an excellent class.

Tom (Chicago)

Can USC get Markeith Ambles even though they already have 2 of the top wide receivers in the country?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:06 PM)

Yes. I think USC has a very real shot at Ambles.

Jeremy (Windsor ,ont)

Sean Parker has Michigan, USC, Washington, and Cal on his final list. Who do you think is in the lead and will land him?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:08 PM)

According to someone with working knowledge of Sean Parker's decision, it will be Michigan, Washington or USC.

Mack Brown (Austin)

Can I get Jeffcoat and Hicks?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:08 PM)

yes, it is quite possible.

Frank (Dallas)

How early do the colleges begin recruiting players?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:10 PM)

Colleges can start sending written correspondence in September of a prospect's junior year. That's when it really gets going. Of course, it can start earlier than that with verbal offers, etc.

Joe (Highland, CA)

With Coach Kiffin coming in, how well do you USC'S class will finsh? We need LB'S an Offinsive Line help.

JC Shurburtt
  (3:11 PM)

I think SC has worked its way in with Seantrel Henderson and you never know what will happen with the visitors coming in this weekend, but the big thing for the Trojans was keeping what they had in tact and they've done so.

John (Austin)

Jordan Hicks is set to announce friday at noon. Any inside info on where he is leaning?

Cameron (Los Angeles)

What are the chances USC can lure in some of the top remaining uncommitted recruits (Jackson Jeffcoat, Seantrel Henderson, Markeith Ambles, Lache Seastrunk, Chaz Green)??? Also, do you see any chance Demar Dorsey decommits from Florida and comes west after his visit to USC on the 29th?Thanks

JC Shurburtt
  (3:14 PM)

USC is right there for Ambles. I think they are in it for Henderson. Dorsey- there's always that chance if he loves his visit. Same is true for Green.

Harold Conner (Chapel Hill)

Can you shed some light on why LSU has lost so many previously committed offensive players including Davis and Hunter at the WR position? How do you feel the rest of the LSU class looks and what are the chances of landing an elite WR on signing day?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:15 PM)

Every prospect makes decisions for different reasons. I think the loss of D.J. McCarthy really hurt overall as far as this year. With that, I think Kadron Boone could end up at LSU and for 2011, the Tigers will sign multiple talented prospects at the position. McCarthy's replacement, former Florida assistant Billy Gonzales, is one of the top recruiters in the country.

Cameron (Phoenix)

Would you please give any updates and/or predictions re: John Cullen, Ricky Heimuli, VJ Fehoko and/or Lucky Radley. Utah seems to be in the hunt for all of them. Thank YOU

JC Shurburtt
  (3:16 PM)

Utah is in the mix for all and what a great program the Utes have. Fehoko really enjoyed his trip to Salt Lake City.

Mike (Thorold Ont)

Hey just wondering what your thoughts on Notre Dame's chances of gaining any more commits to help improving on both the D and O lines. Thanks

JC Shurburtt
  (3:17 PM)

Name to watch down the stretch for the Irish is OL Matt James.

Bill (Tampa)

FSU recruiting seems to be going very well and it appears that they have shots at some guys like Calvin Smith and Demar Dorsey as well. Any other surprises they might receive?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:18 PM)

Florida State historically pulls some surprises on National Signing Day, so I can't rule it out. In fact, I was told by someone close to their program to not rule it out.

Adam (Knoxville)

Will Lofton end up at USC or stick with UT?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:18 PM)

There is real interest from Loften in USC, but you have to wait and see how he reacts to his visit.

Adam (Knoxville)

Rumors are swirling about where Da'Rick Rogers and Nash Nance will end up, in the end, do they stick with their original commits or end up a Vol?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:19 PM)

You never know what is going to happen, but I think Rogers sticks with Georgia in the end.

V-Man (NYC)

Is there any chance of ND coming up with a surprise commitment or two on NSD and, if so, any names you want to throw out there as possibilities? Even the longest of long shots would be interesting. Thanks!

JC Shurburtt
  (3:22 PM)

How about Ego Ferguson for a surprise Irish commit? Really, I think Matt James is the best bet.

Timbo (Florida)

What's the latest regarding the Florida Gators and the following recruits: Demar Dorsey, Jordan Hicks, and Seantrell Henderson?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:23 PM)

Hey Timbo. Of the three, I think UF has the best shot at Hicks.

Brax (Tempe, Az)

Do you think Dillion Baxter is under rated? He won one of the player of the year awards but is olny a 4star accoring to ESPN. Also what USC freshmen do you see having an impact next year?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:23 PM)

four star is not underrated.

JD (Omaha)

Owa heading to Oregon St, UCLA or Nebraska and tell me why-Thanks!

JC Shurburtt
  (3:24 PM)

I think Owa continues the tradition of Oregon products heading to Lincoln and signs with Big Red next week.

B-Coak (NYC, NY)

Any word on what DE Gabe King plans to do on signing day?? Haven't heard much news on him.

JC Shurburtt
  (3:25 PM)

I can't see King going anywhere besides Oregon but can't rule out Cal either.

V-Man (NYC)

Any guesses as to where JR Ferguson ends up?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:26 PM)

I've heard LSU or Cal but you can't dismiss the Florida schools.

Alex (Trojan land)

JC - How do you see USC's class after LOI day? Top 5? Any surprise commits?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:27 PM)

it probably will be top 5-10. I do expect USC to pick up a few they may not have been expecting.

phil (auburn, al )

what do you make of the Shon Coleman visits to Bama and UM this week? Anything for the Auburn Nation to fear?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:28 PM)

There always are concerns when a prospect takes visits but everything I've heard indicates he will stick with AU.

dan (tuscaloosa)

Where in the world will Keenan Allen go? Expect him at Clemson but maybe we can get lucky and hold on to him. Damn Gill for leaving Buffalo.

JC Shurburtt
  (3:28 PM)

Clemson is in the mix, but don't just assume the Tide will lose him. It is possible, but not a done deal.

Dave (NJ)

This has not been a banner year thus far for Rutgers, but it looks like they're in on alot of very good remaining guys. How do you think they will finish?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:29 PM)

Rutgers still has a good class and continues to battle hard for the top kids in Jersey, an underrated talent state.

Tim (Ky)

Lot of rumors flying around Christian Jones. Ive read that things went well at UF and that things didnt go well with UF. What are you hearing? FSU/UF/USC

JC Shurburtt
  (3:30 PM)

I still think FSU for Jones but you can't rule out the Gators.

Arty (Atlanta, GA)

JC -Now that Ga Tech lost their best recruiter, Giff Smith, how much will that hurt their 2010 class & beyond?Thank you.

JC Shurburtt
  (3:31 PM)

long term, it hurts because Smith was so great with the in-state prospects but short term, Tech will be fine.

Ben (Indianapolis)

Do you see a trend of higher rated players chosing Michigan State over other Big 10 counterparts as evidence of William Gholston chosing MSU?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:33 PM)

Michigan State is having a very good year on paper, but they also do a great job of development and evaluation. Is it a developing trend? I am not sure right now.

Ty (Royston, GA)

hello JC - will the fact that Fla still doesn't have a DC help in UGA's push to sign DT Mike Thornton? Thanks!

JC Shurburtt
  (3:35 PM)

Florida has a DC- George Edwards- but I do think UGA lands Thornton.

Brian (Sacramento, CA)

Is USC the most captivating school to watch right now considering the coaching change and its national reach?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:36 PM)

I think Florida is the most captivating right now

Anthony (Panama City, FL)

How do you see the Christian Jones saga playing out?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:36 PM)

I still think FSU in the end for Jones, but can't rule Florida out.

Jason (Atlanta)

What does the NCAA rule book say, if anything, about coaches contacting student athletes who had previously verbally committed to that coaches former school?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:37 PM)

No, that is not against the rules.

Steve (San Diego)

How is Nebraska's class shaping up?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:40 PM)

Nebraska is going to close strong, especially if it lands Owa.

Bobby (Waco)

Lache Seastrunk is set to annouce this afternoon. Where do you think he ends up?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:42 PM)

I think Oregon for Seastrunk.

Alex (Trojan land)

If USC lands Ambles. We are looking great at WR position for at least a couple of years. Would this hurt our chances of getting 2011 prospects George Farmer and Victor Blackwell?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:44 PM)

SC will be in the mix for those guys regardless.

Ben (Mobile AL.)

Where do you see Marcus Lattimore ending up?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:45 PM)

its a dead heat between south carolina and auburn for lattimore

Blake (Abilene, TX)

JC, please explain to people that there tends to only be 10 to 15 five star recruits in each class and that there is not this huge gap between 5star and 4 star. This year the 12th ranked player is a five star and the 13th is a 4 star.

JC Shurburtt
  (3:46 PM)

Blake, you are absolutely right.

Rendall Sanchez (Tampa fl)

do you think christian jones is going to be at fsu?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:47 PM)

I think FSU is the team to beat for Jones.

Alex (Trojan land)

Why did Marsh decommit from LSU? and instead opted for Westwood. Why Westwood?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:48 PM)

I heard Marsh wanted to stay close to home.

James (Colorado )

Are there communication limits between coaches & recruits? Such as how it has been said Monte Kiffin repeatedly visting Nickell Robey, a current UGA recruit.

JC Shurburtt
  (3:50 PM)

You can visit once a week during the contact period.

Russ (Florida)

It looks like Penn State had a good year recruiting, what is your thoughts on the incoming class?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:50 PM)

top to bottom it was another solid class for the Nittany Lions.

Thomas (Washinton, DC)

If Nebraska can get commitments from Owa, Cooper and Carnes, where do you think their class would rank.

JC Shurburtt
  (3:51 PM)

top 20 from Nebraska

kyle (michigan)

whats you take on michigans class? they didnt sign any huge recuirts besides for gardner. and also what names could they get in the next week. thanks

JC Shurburtt
  (3:53 PM)

they could still get sean parker. Gardner is a great player though and I like ricardo miller.

Rendall Sanchez (Tampa fl)

cory leomier de auburn or fsu? and christian green fsu or georgia?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:55 PM)

I would predict fsu for both

TJ (Saint Louis)

Do you see Charlie Strong and Louisville picking up any more bigtime recruits in the next week or so? I'm particularly interested in Kadron Boone, Todd Chandler, Dominique Brown. Any others you have some info on would be great also.

JC Shurburtt
  (3:57 PM)

The Cardinals have a great shot at Chandler and certainly are in the mix for Boone.

Moderator
  (3:57 PM)

I think we can squeeze in a couple more.

Alpha (Richmond)

Will the virginia caveilers be a ranked class next year?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:58 PM)

Mike London has a great reputation for recruiting, but there is no way to say if it will be a top 10 class.

Andrew (Chicago, Il)

Do you think Carnes sticks with his first choice and stays at USF?

JC Shurburtt
  (3:59 PM)

I think Nebraska has a shot to turn him.

Chris (Bristol)

Where will sentrell henderson end up and chance with the irish?

JC Shurburtt
  (4:00 PM)

I would predict Ohio State for Henderson, but USC has a shot.

JC Shurburtt
  (4:00 PM)

Thanks for all your great recruiting questions. I hope everyone enjoys signing day, but remember to keep it in perspective because its going to be a wild ride.
