Matt should be here in a few minutes!
Matt is here!
What do you think is the biggest need that the pats need to address this offseason?
I think there are a number of things. I think for the most part, regardless of the draft and in free agency, it comes down to more of the guys we have and the younger guys we have figuring out the mental side of things. We weren't that mentally tough last season. That's something we've hung our hat on the last few years.
Matt - my beard really puts your beard to shame, when will you step up and give the left side of our OL the facial hair it deserves? Also, Seabass has been well-discussed, any thoughts on the young interior linemen the Pats drafted last year (Ohrnberger, Gary Bussey)
Logan, I didn't know you knew how to use a computer.
Matt what do you think of tedy bruschi on espn
He's doing his thing. He's bringing everybody to Bru-ville.
Do you think the Colts defense gets the respect they deserve?
Really? That's the question Bob? They have two of the most celebrated defensive pass rushers in the league. Maybe with the talk of the offense, people forget some of the defense, but for those that have to play against them.
How does it make you feel that the New York Jets made it farther than you?
Hey, good for them.
Hi Matt, Scot Clark from Bradford, Ohio, a short drive from Grenville, and cousin of a friend of yours, Rob Clark. So how happy are you for Drew Brees and have you talked to him giving him Super Bowl advise?
No, I haven't spoken with him yet. I'm really happy to see him make it, especially after that game. Drew's a great guy and a great teammate in college. Wish him the best.
Matt - what are your thoughts on playing right tackle next year? seems like theres alot of talk going on lately about if you are willing to be flexible. Do you think youre still a starter on this team? I think you are!
I have no thoughts. I do whatever the coach wants me to do and it's that simple.
What are you hearing about Welker? Will he be good to start next year?
No idea on where's he at in his rehab. I'm sure he'll be all right and be back. I'm looking forward to seeing him back out there. That's for sure.
Do you think it's fair for the Colts and Saints players to miss the Pro Bowl because it's before the Super Bowl?
I think for some guys, it's going to be a little bit bitter sweet. You're going to the Super Bowl, that's great. But for some guys, it's just a sidebar to a great season.
What did u think when u saw Tyree make his catch on his helmet? what was the first thing that popped into ur mind?
Does it bother you when people call the Patriots a finesse offense?
No. No. I don't think that's really going around out there. The bottom line is you play to win games. However that works out, that works out.
Matt, thanks for being here. I would love to get your thoughts on what we need to add to our team to be competitive again, from an offensive stand-point? Thank you in advance.
It's hard to say what you have to do. There are a million things to work on. Just having guys around in the offseason. The more time we can be together the better. The more we can get on the same page, the better. I'm sure a lot of things will change before now and the start of next season.
Who is the toughest player you have to face?
Other than my wife? Over the years, some of the best battles were against Freeney. Earlier in my career, playing Jason Taylor, being in the same division. But more recently, I would say Dwight and what he brings to the table.
Who do you want to win the Super Bowl? I hope the Saints win. I rooted for the Colts in the AFC champ game just because they were facing the Jets and I hate Rex Ryan and his big mouth.
I hope they both lose. That would be awesome.
No, but in all seriousness, it would be nice to see Drew pull it out. He's put his time in.
How does it feel to rep the Boilermakers Matt?
Great, Jake. Absolutely phenomenal. But I'm more excited about watching what Coach Hope does with the Boilmakers this year.
Against the Ravens, the O line failed to pick up interior blitzers. What happened?
We lost. They did what they always do. They bring a lot of pressure up the middle and every now and then overload you and blitz you. We put ourselves in a disadvantage by getting down early and becoming a one dimensional team.
Thanks for the questions. It was fun chatting. I'm looking forward to a great offseason. If you're ever interested in getting involved in what we do with our organzition check out www.mattlightfoundation.org.
