Chat with Dan Rafael

Dan Rafael
  (12:07 PM)

Greetings Fight Freaks! I'm hunkered down in the midst of this brutal snow storm. Nothing to do this weekend but watch a lot of fights and the Super Bowl and a couple of movies my wife picked up. Anyway, we've got an excellent FNF card tonight with Glen Johnson-Yusaf Mack and Guillermo Rigondeaux in action plus a really good Showtime main event tomorrow in Valero-DeMarco. So we have much to discuss, including the signing of Mosley-Mayweather. So be sure to check out the new blog, big notebook, the updated schedule and the preview of Saturday's Adamek-Estrada fight. Now let's get to it.

Brian (Brooklyn)

Excited to see Valero on TV. Should be fun.

Dan Rafael
  (12:08 PM)

I always enjoy watching Valero. I saw his two PPV fights and have gotten plenty of DVDs of his fights from Japan elsewhere. But he's always a treat and I expect the fight with DeMarco to be explosive.

Mike (Massapequa)

So are we going to know details about the Mayweather/Mosley fight like ring and glove size or is that going to be a state secret like the weight for the Marquez fight?

Dan Rafael
  (12:09 PM)

No secrets. Rings in Nevada are standard 20x20 as per the rules, same with gloves in the welterweight division, which are 8 ounces.

Pat (Peoria, IL)

Even after the Mayweather-Pacquaio fiasco the welterweight division is setting up nicely. The top four welters are now in a de facto tournament with the winners set up for a fall showdown.

Dan Rafael
  (12:09 PM)

True but to a point. I do not think if Clottey beats Pacquiao you will see him and Mayweather if Mayweather beats Mosley.

Quint (Brielle, NJ)

Does Jesse Brinkley deserve the shot at Bute over Miranda? (who hasn't won a significant fight in 3 years) Does HBO wield too much power in the sport?

Dan Rafael
  (12:12 PM)

Not really. Brinkley scored a nice win, but let's not make it out to be anything spectacular. Curtis Stevens was unproven and isn't much. I give Brinkley all the credit for the win, but Miranda is just fine for Bute in my opinion. He does have a clean win not all that long ago over Allan Green, who is now in the tournament. If I ran the show at HBO I would have taken Miranda over Brinkley also. Brinkley will get his opportunity off his win, but he is not mandatory yet anyway. Besides, I think after that tough fight him coming back April 17 is a little too quick.

Brody (Sea Bright, NJ)

Why no Jesse Brinkley in your top 10 at SMW? Impressive performance last week on FNF.

Dan Rafael
  (12:12 PM)

Because he beat Curtis Stevens, not Andre Ward. Please.

Michael (Long Beach, CA)

Richard Schaeffer seems extremely busy. Do you think JMM eventually comes to terms?

Dan Rafael
  (12:14 PM)

Richard is a busy guy. I know that! Not sure about JMM. I am told he is unhappy with the offer and that Golden Boy is exploring other options for the May Amir Khan fight. Frankly, they ought to go back and get a deal done with Malignaggi and have the fight in New York.

Edward (Philippines)

Dan, if Marquez beats Vasquez is their a 5th fight?

Dan Rafael
  (12:14 PM)

Settle down.

Sam (St. Louis)

if mosely beats money, do you see pacquiao mosely happening?

Dan Rafael
  (12:15 PM)

Depends on how solid the rematch clause is that Mayweather has. I think, by the way, that it's a disgrace for a fight like that to have a rematch clause. At level, you win you win. You lose you lose. If the public demands a rematch, it will happen. But to force a rematch with Mosley if Mayweather loses is a disservice when we will all want to see Mosley fight Pacquiao if Pacquiao also wins his fight with Clottey.

Jeff (Greensboro)

Once again, another outstanding notebook. Your comprehensive weekly column has become the one-stop-shopping outlet for all of us boxing fans. In fact, one might refer to you as the ?Wal-Mart? of boxing scribes.

Dan Rafael
  (12:15 PM)

Thanks, I think.

Jonny (Fallbrook,CA)

Who do you think Saul "Canelo" Alvarez should face on the Mosley-Mayweather undercard?

Dan Rafael
  (12:16 PM)

I'd just like it to be somebody solid with at least a chance to win. Haven't given any thought to a specific opponent.

Ankur (New Jersey)

Dan, is there going to be a 24/7 for Pacquiao-Clottey and Mayweather Mosley?

Dan Rafael
  (12:17 PM)

There will be a preview show for Pacquiao-Clottey and there will be a 24/7 for Mosley-Mayweather.

E ((Omaha))

D$$ - So will we see Shane and Floyd down at the Super Bowl for promotional work on their fight???

Dan Rafael
  (12:17 PM)

Yes, they are there.

Sammy (Neville, Utah)

What are you hearing about Vitali Klitchko v. Valuev

Dan Rafael
  (12:17 PM)

They're talking but not close to a deal given the financial demands of the Valuev side.

John (Kalamazoo)

Dantonio, have you ever seen a worse tattoo than Edwin Valero's?

Dan Rafael
  (12:17 PM)

It's pretty bad.

Chris (Columbus, OH)

Dan, it seems like opinions are pretty much split on Valero. What's your opinion on him?

Dan Rafael
  (12:18 PM)

Great puncher but severely overrated in terms of how good an overall fighter he is. I don't think he's faced any top opponents. In fact, I think overall DeMarco has faced the better guys. But one thing about Valero -- he is entertaining as hell.

Brody (New York )

Too early for your Mayweather/Mosley prediction?

Dan Rafael
  (12:19 PM)

Much.

bill (pgh)

since the cancellation, what's next for Sergio Mora?

Dan Rafael
  (12:20 PM)

Nothing at the moment, but Golden Boy I am sure will look to reschedule him on one of their upcoming undercards. I wouldn't be surprised to see him wind up on the undercard of Jones-Hopins in April.

Mike Tyson (Catskill)

Ummmm, ever seen my tattoo?

Dan Rafael
  (12:20 PM)

Yeah, and it's better than Valero's.

Eric (Irving, TX)

DTM, does the Swamp Donkey have a chance to get the title? I still say that's one of the greatest nicknames I've ever heard for any athlete.

Dan Rafael
  (12:21 PM)

The Donk is aggressive, can punch and is coming down in weight. And Huck has been stopped before. So while Huck is the better overall fighter, obviously, anything is possible.

JB (Toronto)

Am I crazy or was Omar Henry originally scheduled to be on the FSN card tomorrow night?

Dan Rafael
  (12:21 PM)

Yes, he was, but his opponent pulled out a few days ago and with Texas' new rules that require medicals 72 hours before the fight Top Rank could not get a replacement in time and he is off the show.

Joe (PA)

Do you plan to interview RJJ or B-Hop before their big fight?

Dan Rafael
  (12:22 PM)

At some point, of course.

Nick (Los Gatos, CA)

Any word yet on where the Geurrero-Katsidis fight is going to be? And is Maidana versus Cayo going to be on that undercard?

Dan Rafael
  (12:23 PM)

Golden Boy is looking to put the show in San Jose, but no site is set just yet. Maidana-Cayo, a good fight by the way, will be the televised co-feature on that card on March 27.

Joe (PA)

Is HBO going to replay the Pacquaio-Clottey fight the week after the PPV?

Dan Rafael
  (12:24 PM)

Is the sun going to rise tomorrow? Will somebody be banned? Will somebody ask about Mike Tyson? Do I like KISS, the Yankees and the Giants? Is Bing an idiot?

Aaron (Hartford)

Any confirmation of Paulie and Berto being finalized ?

Dan Rafael
  (12:24 PM)

Far from it. Just talk at this point.

Randy (Shanghai)

Why isn't the most interesting fight this weekend Adamek vs. Estrada not even televised??

Dan Rafael
  (12:25 PM)

No network wantes to buy it. It is available via ppv on the Internet.

Dan (Brooklyn)

Who are you picking? Valero or Demarco? I am picking Demarco by an upset KO - can see this playing out a little like Donaire-Darchinyan.

Dan Rafael
  (12:25 PM)

I like DeMarco in the upset as well.

Joe (Stamford, CT)

Any word on opponent for Gamboa on March 27th? And will there be US tv?

Dan Rafael
  (12:26 PM)

Not yet, they are still looking at opponents. No US TV as of yet and I doubt there will be.

Brandon (Dover Delaware)

When will Juanma face Celestino Caballero

Dan Rafael
  (12:26 PM)

Don't hold your breath. Top Rank would rather try to do Gamboa-Caballero.

Cory (Dallas)

Let's pump the brakes on Brinkley freaks, it was a nice liitttle FNF win, but let's see him beat a top 10 guy before he moves up there.

Jeff (New York, New York)

Last time I saw Adamek fight in Newark (the Jonathan Banks fight) some drunk polish guy spilled beer on my friend. What is your expert opinion on the proper course of action to take in such a situation?

Dan Rafael
  (12:28 PM)

A left hook to the head?

Peter (UK)

Dan, since Goldenboy are handling the production of the RJJ-BHop fight, does that mean there will definately be no 24/7 for that fight?

Dan Rafael
  (12:28 PM)

DEFINITELY.

Matt (Boston)

DR, how bad is the storm, accumulations thus far? Notebook is a must read for me every week. Keep up the great work. Thanks.

Dan Rafael
  (12:30 PM)

Looking out my office window right now and we gotta have at least 2 inches already and it's just starting. They're calling it "Snowmageddon" and "Snowpocalypse Now" around these here parts. I've been here 10 years and this is already by far the most snow overall we have had in a winter. This will be our second 2-foot snowstorm in three weeks. We've had one other in the last 10 years.

Nick (Los Gatos, CA)

That's great that Golden Boy is trying to grow The Ghost (the other one) here in his backyard (props to Andre Ward's people too). If any of their guys are reading this chat, please tell them the Northern California freaks appreciate it!

Dan Rafael
  (12:31 PM)

Duly noted.

Dan Rafael
  (12:31 PM)

By the way Freaks -- We will have an RAD chat tomorrow night following the Showtime card!!

Josh (Houston)

Is there a blood testing clause in the agreement for the Mayweather/Mosley fight since Mosley has actually admitted to using PEDs?

Dan Rafael
  (12:32 PM)

Yes, both fighters will be subject to USADA Olympic-style testing.

Grant (San Diego)

Who do you like in tonight's fights? I think Yusaf Mack beats Glen Johnson. Not sure about the rematch on the undercard...

Dan Rafael
  (12:33 PM)

I think Glen finds a way to get it done and wins a decision. But it's really a toss-up fight.

Sam (St. Louis)

Dan, what fight are you most excited about right now?

Dan Rafael
  (12:35 PM)

Besides the big fights with Pacman and Mosley, I look forward to Katsidis-Guerrero. I think that could be great. I think tomorrow's Showtime fight with Valero-DeMarco could be very exciting. And I also look forward to May 22 on Showtime with the Vazquez-Marquez and Perez-Mares fights.

Ross (Boston, Ma)

Dan,How do you see the Estrada/Adamek fight going tommorow night. I think there's a shot Estrada outboxes him.

Dan Rafael
  (12:35 PM)

I agree with you but I think Adamek will win a decision.

Steve (NYC)

If Adamek is signed to Golden Boy would he be on HBO more?

Dan Rafael
  (12:35 PM)

In the immortal words of our broadcast hero: Definitely.

Eric (Irving, TX)

Danimal, now that blood testing is in a contract for a fight, do you think the Nevada commission will look at implementing some sort of blood testing into their rules?

Dan Rafael
  (12:36 PM)

Doubtful at this point.

Sam (St. Louis)

I like how you said the fights with pacman and MOSLEY!

Dan Rafael
  (12:36 PM)

What about it?

Aaron (Hartford)

God Bless the DVR for April 17th....

Koichi (NYC)

Who do you think the Undertaker will end up facing at Wrestlemania? Also how do you like the Bret Hart storyline?

Dan Rafael
  (12:37 PM)

I'd like to see 'Taker vs. Cena! The Brett storyline I can take it or leave it.

chuzen (st. louis)

will you be on fnf tonight?

Dan Rafael
  (12:38 PM)

Not tonight. We have a packed card with 30 rounds of scheduled fights, so we'll have a reduced studio portion tonight.

Tony (Tampa)

Dan,You aren't kididng. Nephew of Salvador Sanchez looks exactly like him. I saw the photo in notebook and thought you wrote about a flashback story about Salvador Sanchez(of the 80's).

Dan Rafael
  (12:42 PM)

They are the spitting image and the kid wears his hair just like the uncle, which makes them look alike even more.

Johnny (Brooklyn, NY)

Adamek-Estrada will be televised in NY on SNY on tape delay Sunday night at 8:00 pm.

E ((Omaha))

Over/Under on weekly comments that you are a Mayweather hater?? I am setting the line at 60 comments

Dan Rafael
  (12:43 PM)

Way more.

Darryl (Montreal)

Dan, ever been to Montreal for a fight? A great fight town, hopefully Pascal vs. Dawson will be here

Dan Rafael
  (12:43 PM)

I've been to Montreal several times but never for a fight. I hope to get up there someday to cover a fight though. It's a great boxing town.

Philly Geoff (Raleigh, NC)

That was Salvador Sanchez? I thought it was Carlito.

Dan Rafael
  (12:44 PM)

OMG! I almost spit out my water.

Brandon (Delaware)

Why would Top Rank prefer to do Gamboa over JuanMa for a fight with Celestino Caballero

Dan Rafael
  (12:46 PM)

Because they'd rather protect Lopez from a tough fight and they think Gamboa matches up better with him.

bill (pgh)

if Johnson wins tonight and Cloud next month, could we see them fight each other next?

Dan Rafael
  (12:47 PM)

The winner tonight will be Cloud's mandatory, so yes. However, I am told there are some issues between Cloud and his people and that he most likely will not fight March 26 and the fight will be delayed.

Michael (Long Beach, CA)

Does Sanchez have anywhere near his uncle's talent?

Dan Rafael
  (12:47 PM)

Not even close.

Greenberg (NYC)

Dan am I the only one that sees Yuri Foreman outclassing Cotto big time?

Dan Rafael
  (12:48 PM)

I know a few people who thnk that Foreman, a bigger, slicker guy, will smack Cotto around and win a decision with ease. So you are not the only one.

Joel Julio (The Gym)

Hey Dad...What do you want me to work on today so I can make you proud against El Perro?

Dan Rafael
  (12:48 PM)

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, the Love Child. Don't go backward like you did against Kirkland and keep your hands up.

Tom (Reading, United Kingdom)

Dan do you agree with HBO putting up such a fuss about Jesse Brinkley being Lucian Bute's opponent? For me he deserves a shot at the title more then Miranda.

Dan Rafael
  (12:49 PM)

Stop drinking the Kool Aid.

Brian (Anaheim)

Class act by Guillermo Rigondeaux. Sometimes we as fans forget that some boxers have bigger hearts outside of the ring as well.

Dan Rafael
  (12:49 PM)

Agree. For him to give his entire purse up for Haitian relief efforts, you gotta give him credit.

JJD (Seattle)

I know NASCAR's not your thing, but have you checked out the Jimmie Johnson 24/7 shows on HBO? Another high-quality job by the HBO boys (plus I get my 24/7-theme fix AND my Liev fix).

Dan Rafael
  (12:50 PM)

Perhaps you should read my blog today.

John (Phoenix)

Dear Ombudsmon, Your "boxing" writer that has never been in a ring has shown a complete lack of journalistic integrity by getting on his knees to please Bob Arum. Just because Floyd never invited him up to watch a fight and wont talk to this idiot that know NOTHING about boxing doesnt mean this is acceptable. Get Dan Rafael off ESPN. He has no integrity left after cowering his overzied rear-end in a seat while Bob flipped him off. Post that you coward. You are a joke.

Dan Rafael
  (12:51 PM)

Give it your best shot jerky.

Kent (St Catharines)

DTM, I know you attending the BIG fights is automatic. Are there lesser fights where you have to convince your bosses that you should be there or do they always determine which fights you attend without your input?

Dan Rafael
  (12:52 PM)

There have definitely been a few I have to sell for sure. It's just the nature of the business. Used to happen all the time when I was at USA TODAY. Not so much at ESPN, where they know the sport a lot better.

Jake (New York)

Dan, you wrote that Cotto-Foreman might be on PPV. Any chance JuanMa and Gamboa are on the undercard in separate fights?

Dan Rafael
  (12:53 PM)

Unlikely. Top Rank is talking to HBO about a split site doubleheader with Gamboa fighting in Miami and Lopez fighting in PR on the same night.

Hagler's Bald Head (Canastota )

Any truth in the rumor that HBO have gave Maidana a contract keeping him away from Amir Khan for a year ?????????????

Dan Rafael
  (12:54 PM)

HBO did no such thing. That may be part of his deal with Golden Boy but certainly not the network.

JJD (Seattle)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the Brinkley/Stevens fight an eliminator to be the IBF *#2* contender? That wouldn't make him an immediate mandatory would it? (Yes, I'm trying to make sense of Alphabet Soup Logic.)

Dan Rafael
  (12:55 PM)

You are correct. Besides, Bute's mandatory is nowhere near due. His last fight against Andrade was the mandatory so he has plenty of time for an OPTIONAL, which is what he is doing against Miranda.

Tom E (Jersey City, NJ)

Maybe if John from Phoenix put that much thought and passion into the rest of his life he wouldn't be sulking in front of a computer like a hairy-palmed nitwit

Jose (NYC)

Dan, don't give those bums the light of day- if they don't like your journalistic skills then go somewhere else..

Eric (Irving, TX)

Wait a min Dan, how do you get on your knees to please Bob when I've personally seen you rip him at least a dozen times? I'm confused. Where is Banishment when you need him.

Dan Rafael
  (12:56 PM)

Exactly, but some people who write in comments like that are just plain stupid.

Mike (NY)

Hey John in Phoenix. U are a complete jerk! Ban him dan!

Gerardo (Los Angeles)

John from Phoenix, if you hate Dan so much, why are you on his chat?? Idiot!!!

Dan Rafael
  (12:57 PM)

Exactly. You know what they say, love me or hate me, just pay me.

Banishment (Buffet Line)

I'll have a slice of John please.

Edward (Cerritos)

Hey John in Phoenix - Dan posted your hate. Now, if you have nothing positive to contribute then get out of here with your nonsense and let real fans discuss current boxing events.

Michael (Long Beach, CA)

John in Phoenix needs to dislodge his head from Floyds backside and get a life.

Bryant (Pitt)

Dtm is it me or is pavlik scared to take a big fight after Bhop schooled him?

Dan Rafael
  (12:58 PM)

It's you dawg.

Grey (Cape Cod, MA)

Great to see Shobox broadcasting young up and coming prospects like DeMarcus Corley

Dan Rafael
  (12:59 PM)

I gotta say that tonight's ShoBox sucks. It's probably the worst main event in series history other than some of those Frank Warren cards from the early days of the show.

Joel (Woodland)

I feel bad for Tim Bradley. Hard to be a great fighter in this business with no drawing power. Assuming he gets by Urango, is Devon Alexander the most likely opponent for Bradley?

Dan Rafael
  (1:00 PM)

That would be a great fight but I wouldn't say "likely" because it's hard deal to make given that Don King is involved.

Mike (NY)

Dan, Dont you think a 24/7 for hopkins-jones would be better than the actual fight?

Dan Rafael
  (1:01 PM)

Of course.

Kent (St Catharines)

Was that Bing wearing a John in Phoenix costume?

Michael (Toronto)

I think ESPN should televise John from Phoenix being fed to Banishment live during an FNF studio segment.

Brian (Cambridge, MA)

Thoughts on HBO scheduling Bute-Miranda same night as Super Six?

Dan Rafael
  (1:02 PM)

It is what it is. And to clarify some previous things I have written -- this was not strictly an HBO call. The fact is that April 17 is the date Bute's promoter has to go because that it is the only Saturday in April that the Bell Centre was available, and that is where Bute generates enormous gates.

Jess (Miami)

Is Pavlik/Martinez anywhere near done?

Dan Rafael
  (1:03 PM)

Yes. I expect it to be announced next week.

Chris (Columbus, OH)

Is there going to be a pirate costume for Hopkins-Jones?

Dan Rafael
  (1:04 PM)

God I hope not. The mere mention of that makes Brian Kenny break up laughing.

Jay-money (dallas,tx)

hbo 24/7 presents: Roger Mayweather-the law. watch as roger prepares for the fight of his life in court. Step in to his mind, before he steps in the court room.

Dan Rafael
  (1:04 PM)

Classic.

Michael (Toronto)

Speaking of Montreal, how familiar are you with Russ Anber and what do you think about him as a pundit?

Dan Rafael
  (1:05 PM)

Russ is a friend of mine and I was a guest on his TSN show many times. He is great, knows his stuff and is very passionate about the sport. I remember him telling me how terrific Bute was years before he was really known to anyone.

Joseph (Artesia, CA)

Dan, can you drop a little more info on Artie Curry. I remember the HBO crew (Steward, Lamps, Merchant) all emotionally choked during a tribute last year. I could Google it, but I'd rather have personal insight from you. It obvious this person was well respected and loved by many in boxing.

Dan Rafael
  (1:07 PM)

Artie was just a great guy beloved by many, mnany people in boxing, especially the HBO fighters he worked closely with. As I wrote in my blog today, a scholarship will be dedicated in his name at St. Francis college in New York on Feb. 18, which would have been his 50th birthday. If you look in my blog archive from last year in April you will find the piece I wrote after his untimely death.

Josh (Iowa)

Mayweather's on Jim Rome right now, he's trying to clean up all sports by demanding drug testing, not just boxing. I think I'll shed a tear.

Dan Rafael
  (1:08 PM)

Grab a tissue before you get all messed up.

Jericho (New York)

Mayweather on Rome is spreading more fertilizer than a cow OD'ing on Exlax.

Jan Brewer (Governor of AZ)

Dan, I would like to announce that we have just signed an extradition of John (Phoenix) from the state of Arizona to the Freak Nation. We are deeply disgusted and embarrassed by his comments. You may do with him as you please. Thank you.

Justin (ATL)

Dan you said 30 rounds tonight. Which fights specifically will be on?

Dan Rafael
  (1:10 PM)

Johnson-Mack (12), Parades-Hernandez (10) and Rigondeaux-Landeros (8).

Dan Rafael
  (1:10 PM)

By the way -- a reminder to all Freaks -- the start time of FNF has moved up to 10 pm ET instead of the originally announced time of 10:30 pm so mark it down.

Bing (Philly)

I think John's posts are great, keep up the good work.

PG (NY)

Is it me or has Valero regressed techically? he looks worse in the last few fights then he did earlier in his career.

Dan Rafael
  (1:12 PM)

I agree. He has no refinement in his style and still throws wildly.

Joseph (Artesia, CA)

Thanks Dan. I did read today's blog. It just reminded me of HBO's tribute to Artie Curry. I will check out archives from April. Keep up the good work. It's appreciated.

Dan Rafael
  (1:12 PM)

Thanks.

Trent (Riverside, CA)

Dan, saw Brewster get demolished last week. Time for him to hang it up?

Dan Rafael
  (1:13 PM)

Sad to see. He is just a shell of himself now.

Brandon (Delaware )

do you think margarito deserves another chance!

Dan Rafael
  (1:14 PM)

Not until he at least admits what happened before and aplogizes.

Roy (Reno)

20 years since Buster vs Tyson? I almost had a heart attack after reading that, where does the time go?

Dan Rafael
  (1:15 PM)

Tell me about. I remember it vividy. I was in college and I had been ill. I woke up the next morning having not seen the fight and my roommate said Tyson got knocked out. I thought he was joking. He said he was serious. Back in the day, we had no Internet and no cable in the dorm rooms, so I made him go out and get the newspaper to prove it to me. I was shocked. The next weekend, when HBO replayed the fight as a special (back then they didn't usually replay fights, it was one and done), I purposely drove home to my mom's house so I could watch the fight. I still have the VHS tape of it.

Michael (Long Beach, CA)

OT today......just kidding. Thought I would reminisce a little.

Dan Rafael
  (1:16 PM)

Hilarious. I almost forgot about that.

Mike (Gilbert Az)

Dan, Is Devon Alexander still on for Juan Urango? I thught it was this weekend. I dont see it listed

Dan Rafael
  (1:17 PM)

It's March 6 and it's still on. I will be there. The night before I will be in Bristol to co-host FNF and then will shoot over to Mohegan Sun the next day.

Jesse (Brookings, SD)

Are all three bouts on tonight? (e.g. Johnson-Mack (12), Parades-Hernandez (10) and Rigondeaux-Landeros (8)) or just Parades-Hernandez?

Dan Rafael
  (1:17 PM)

Again -- ALL THREE FIGHTS WILL BE ON ESPN2.

Willy (New Mexico)

Dan, do you ever take your wife to the fights?

Dan Rafael
  (1:19 PM)

She's been a few times over the years, but not usually.

Grey (Cape Cod, MA)

Driving home from college to watch a boxing match? Freak status.

Dan Rafael
  (1:19 PM)

Yup, and that was 20 years ago.

Brian (DC)

Dan, what are your thoughts on the Morales comeback? I think it's just another example of a once-great fighter making an ill-fated comeback attempt. He's 100% shot and has already taken too much punishment.

Dan Rafael
  (1:20 PM)

Sad.

Brent (Toronto)

Is Golden Boy still interested in Linares, or is the Venezualen in promotional limbo?

Dan Rafael
  (1:22 PM)

Funny you should ask because I asked Richard Schaefer about Linares when we spoke yesterday. They are still have very high hopes for Linares and hope he will bounce back from his loss. He said he thinks there are plans for him to have a comeback fight with Mr. Honda in Japan but if he doesn't he would love to bring him here and put him on the Jones-Hopkins ppv card.

Andy (Montclair)

Dan is it true that the Klitschko/Chambers fight is going to be shown on pap-per-view only. Did ESPN try to get this fight?

Dan Rafael
  (1:22 PM)

Somebody needs to read today's blog.

Koolkc107 (Deland, Fl)

I thought Buster benefitted from a long count. I think he was hurt enough to not have made it before ten had the ref began his count on time; the delay definitely helped him clear his head and take his time.

Dan Rafael
  (1:23 PM)

You are so wrong. He was perfectly clear listeng to the ref count. His only job is to get up before 10. He did. Had the ref counted faster, he would have gotten up faster. Go watch the tape.

Steve (Sac, Ca)

Dano, what % do you give for Green/ Ward at Oracle?

Dan Rafael
  (1:25 PM)

95%.

Erik Santos (Astoria, NYC)

Is the rematch clause only for Mayweather or for both fighters?

Dan Rafael
  (1:25 PM)

It is at Mayweather's option if he loses.

Robert the Genius (Greater Philly / Southern NJ)

Just wanted to let you know how much I look forward to this chat every week! Freak Nation, Freak Love

Dan Rafael
  (1:25 PM)

Good man.

Michael (Long Beach, CA)

I couldn't disagree more with Koolkc. Buster had his head together, looked over at his corner, picked up the count and got up at the appropriate time. Definitely could have gotten up sooner.

Rob (Denton, Tx)

Yes KoolKC, go watch the replay. Buster was sitting there looking at the ref and was just waiting to get up. He didnt look hurt or dazed.

Christian (5280)

Dan, Any ideas if Pac/Clottey will make an apperance for the NBA All Star game in Dallas. What a great way to access millions of people.

Dan Rafael
  (1:26 PM)

It's a good idea, but I would doubt it because that will be right in the middle of the serious part of training camp.

Jake (Binghamton, NY)

Buster slammed his fist on the mat while down, clearly annoyed more than dazed.

Kent (St Catharines)

Other than the knockout of Tyson. The thing that sticks out in my mind from Tyson/Douglas was Tyson inexperienced corner using that ballon or condom filled with water to help with his swelling. Never seen that since. Still makes me laugh when I see it.

Dan Rafael
  (1:27 PM)

That was pathetic. A kid off the street would have handled it better.

Lucas (Danbury, CT)

If Haye/Ruiz is part of the Jones/Hopkins PPV, that is a crying shame.

Dan Rafael
  (1:29 PM)

It wouldn't be part of the ppv. It would be a free bonus prior to the start of the paid portion.

bill (pgh)

Have you seen the film version of "Facing Ali" yet, and if so, any thoughts.

Dan Rafael
  (1:30 PM)

I haven't seen it yet but I got a screener DVD the other day, so I plan to check it out.

Richard (Kendall Park, NJ)

Happy Friday DTM! Great fight pick of the week! That is the fight that turned me into a fight freak! I was 12 years old watched the fight with my dad. I knew nothing about boxing at the time. He was a Tyson fan and said that Buster had no shot in hell. But as the fight wore on I found myself routing for Buster. I felt bad for the guy because he was given no chance to win but showed a tremendous jab and a huge heart. To this day I can watch that fight any time and it instantly puts a smile on my face. I think it's also the reason I love to route for an underdog nowadays. Buster was the ultimate underdog and came out a winner. Thanks for reminding me the reason I fell in love with the sweet science to begin with!

Ray (LA)

Worse: Watching a Billy Dib fight or a boxing debate with Bing?

Dan Rafael
  (1:31 PM)

I'd rather gouge out my eyes than watch Dib fight.

Aminul (birmingham)

Dan do you have any idea whether there will be a 24:7 series for Pacquaio-Clottey???

Dan Rafael
  (1:32 PM)

There won't be, just a 30-minute preview.

Jack (Williamsburg, VA)

Dib more boring than Sven Ottke? (who sparred with Abraham this week, even that was boring)

Dan Rafael
  (1:33 PM)

At least Ottke was actually good and didn't just talk about being good.

Michael (Oakland)

D.....are you planning to pay a visit to the Left Coast of Freak Nation if in fact Guerrero-Katsidis and Maidana-Cayo goes down a the HP Pavilion in San Jose???

Dan Rafael
  (1:33 PM)

Won't be at that fight. Have plenty of other fights to attend in the spring. Besides, that card is on my anniversary.

Mark (Maryland)

Dan, about the rematch clause. Sports Illustrated reported that they were told there was no rematch clause contrary to the rumors. Did Richard confirm to you that there is infact a rematch clause?

Dan Rafael
  (1:36 PM)

Shane Mosley told me personally he agreed to a rematch clause when we spoke the other day as did other involved in the fight.

Allen (Palm Springs, CA)

Judah/Bradley, what do you think?

Dan Rafael
  (1:37 PM)

Interesting fight it were to happen.

Luis (Los angeles)

Any word on who Paul Williams is facing next?

Dan Rafael
  (1:38 PM)

He's supposed to be back on HBO on May 8. There is no opponent at the moment, but I am told Kermit Cintron is one of the names at the top of the list, which is certainly a reasonable fight.

Rex (FLA)

Who gives the final word on whether or not RAD goes? You or your boss?

Dan Rafael
  (1:38 PM)

I drop a note to the bosses and say, "How about a RAD chat Saturday night?" The write back, "Sure." Pretty simple.

Jay-money (dallas,tx)

dan i know its your job, but does your wife ever get mad at you for talking too much boxing? my wife does! she hates fridays. lol

Dan Rafael
  (1:39 PM)

Never, which is why she is so great.

Jesse (OKC)

Dan, who is your favorite pro wrestler of all time?

Dan Rafael
  (1:40 PM)

Jimmy Superfly Snuka, hands down.

Jay-money (dallas,tx)

Dan did you interview tyson, and if you did would you make sure to be at a distance? i bet it would be nerve wracking?

Dan Rafael
  (1:41 PM)

I interviewed Mike many, many times. Other than the first time (which I have detailed in other chats) I never had any problems with him at all.

Isai (OKC)

I gotta say that FNF has impressed me so far in their fight match-ups. This season has been action-packed so far.

Dan Rafael
  (1:43 PM)

We have had a great schedule so far and there is more to come. And believe me, if it stunk you know I would say so.

Dirk (Sacramento (now in Ireland))

When I was a year and a half my then 6 year old brother jumped off the couch pretending to be Jimmy Superfly Snuka and he broke my leg!

Dan Rafael
  (1:44 PM)

Now that's funny.

John (LA)

What happened to your college roommate? He must be a huge freak if he knew the result of a boxing match before you.

Dan Rafael
  (1:48 PM)

He wasn't a Fight Freak, but back then everyone watched Tyson. He went on and became a doctor and I went on to become a sportswriter.

Tom (Pittsburgh)

Sorry for being a pessimist but I'll believe Mayweather/Mosely is happening once the two touch gloves in the center of the ring on May 1.

Dan Rafael
  (1:48 PM)

I suppose you're waiting for Mayweather's rib injury to act up again?

Brian (Toronto)

That Snuka jump off the top of the cage versus Muracco was classic. Bonus and Ruiz should never be used together, just saying.

Dan Rafael
  (1:49 PM)

The best was the jump off the top rope against Backlund that he missed when Backlund rolled out of the way and escaped the cage!

Tom E (Jersey City, NJ)

Unfortunately Snuka was on the receiving end, but his legendary Piper's Pit is his all-time highlight. No coconut!

Dan Rafael
  (1:50 PM)

Also classic. I was a kid then and I thought it was all real!

Drew (Akron, OH)

How come FSN has not showed a single one of these weekend boxing cards this year in Ohio? What gives?

Dan Rafael
  (1:51 PM)

No idea. You need to move or get a dish with other FNS affiliates. Or get Fox en Espanol. Good card this weekend with Rios vs. Teron.

Rob (Halifax, Canada)

wrestling isn't real?

Dan Rafael
  (1:53 PM)

Sorry bro.

PG (NY)

If Marquez doesn't take the fight with Khan, where does he go? Seems like it's the only fight for him.

Dan Rafael
  (1:53 PM)

Why? He'll have other options. Hatton is out there. A rematch with Diaz has been discussed, etc...

Chris (Vancouver BC)

JMM has endless options on who to fight. Hatton, Diaz, Bradley, Ortiz. No shortage of opponents for the future HOF.

Nick (South Dakota)

Watched FNF In the hospital room the the day after my daughter was born. Just letting you know I'm here Dan.

Dan Rafael
  (1:55 PM)

Freak Status.

john h (Michigan)

Dan, would ESPN allow you to post a weekly segment on Youtube with your random thoughts, similar to your blogs which I thoroughly enjoy.

Dan Rafael
  (1:56 PM)

Maybe on espn.com. They did equip me recently with a Web cam so I can do the Skype stuff for FNF.

Matt (Boston)

Is the RAD chat a credit to the snow? Thanks!

Dan Rafael
  (1:57 PM)

That as well as because I won't be at any fights this weekend and there's a good one on TV tomrorow night.

Scott (Wisconsin)

If JMM wants a big payday, Hatton sure seems like the logical choice. How many Ricky Hatton's are there??????

Dan Rafael
  (1:57 PM)

For the record, my understanding is there is merely one Ricky Hatton.

Eric (Omaha)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWGm50p7aCQ1:25 mark is when Snuka makes his jump

Dan Rafael
  (1:59 PM)

Absolutely legendary.

Steven (Rialto)

From Golden Boy's comments it seems to me like they are sacrificing JMM to Kahn. what do u think?

Dan Rafael
  (2:00 PM)

Sacrificing? What's the sacrifice? They're offering both guys a major fight. And both guys would be well-paid for it. Nobody is sticking a gun to anyone's head. If one of them doesn't want the fight so be it.

Koolkc107 (Deland, Fl)

Just went and Youtubed Tyson-Douglas. Dan and the rest of you guys were right; there was a second or two delay at best and Buster looks lucid around the count of four. Consider the crow eaten.

Slink (Marina Del Rey)

Dan, you sounded like PBF with that line, "love me or hate me, just pay me."

Dan Rafael
  (2:02 PM)

Keepin' it real.

Sam (St. Louis)

Saints or Colts?

Dan Rafael
  (2:03 PM)

I'm thinking Colts.

Joe (San Francisco, CA)

There is a Sharks hockey game that night in San Jose. It won't be at the arena.

Dan Rafael
  (2:04 PM)

You are right. They are looking at the arena on the San Jose State campus.

Phil (Miami)

Showtime is completely blowing HBO out of the water this year when it comes to boxing..... can you explain why we pay $15 a month for HBO and there's been 1 card since December 12... and none planned in the next few months

Dan Rafael
  (2:07 PM)

I don't agree with that at all. Neither network has a strong first quarter. HBO had Mosley-Berto, which was canceled and had nothing to do with the network. HBO has two good BADs in March. Showtime has a good main event this weekend. Beyond that, HBO has the better over schedule in my opinion for April and May.

Mayweather (Miami)

Relax folks- I see an injury postponing this fight- You didn't actually think I am going to go thru with it... HAHAHA

Angel (Carson City)

I am hearing that Shaun George will be Tavoris Cloud's march opponent - any truth to that?

Dan Rafael
  (2:08 PM)

Incorrect at this point.

Danny (Orlando, FL)

Quick, what do I do? My wife wants to use the computer. Uppercut or left hook?

Dan Rafael
  (2:09 PM)

We do not condone the abuse of women.

Daian (Miami)

answer my questions for once?

Dan Rafael
  (2:10 PM)

Ask something that doesn't suck.

Shawn (Tempe)

Dan, are there still plans for Margacheato to be on the undercard of Pac-Clottey?

Dan Rafael
  (2:10 PM)

Yes.

Rejean (Montreal)

Will you be in Montreal for the Lucien Bute fight? I belive this is HBO's 1st time up here.

Dan Rafael
  (2:11 PM)

No. If everything works out, I would be in Atlantic City that night for the Pavlik-Martinez fight.

Brian (Cincinnati)

Thanks for pointing out that Curtis Stevens is overrated. I have thought so ever since he fought Thomas Reid in March 2008 and was down badly going into the 8th (and final) round and was able to land a big shot to win by KO. He has big power, but does not have the necessary boxing skill to compete on an elite level.

Pete (Philly)

Dan, whats the work on Povetkin. Is he fighting soon and is Teddy still training him?

Dan Rafael
  (2:13 PM)

Yes, Teddy is training him. Povetkin is supposed to fight March 13 in Germany on the undercard of the Huck-Donkey fight.

Alex (Montreal)

Even though the HBO broadcasters won't do the Hopkins - Jones Jr PPV, did HBO have to pay Golden Boy anything to produce it or is it Golden Boy that's paying HBO for producing the PPV ? I hope HBO isn't spending a penny on that 'event' ...

Dan Rafael
  (2:14 PM)

HBO is not producing it. HBO is distributing it and will be paid a small percentage of the gross for its efforts. Simple as that.

Bill (Rockville)

Thanks in advance for the RAD. Good luck with the DC Snowpocalypse!

Dan Rafael
  (2:15 PM)

It's really coming down. I hope we have power for the RAD!

Ray (Camden, NJ)

Dan, have you seen Cayo fight before? Do you think he can beat Maidana?

Dan Rafael
  (2:16 PM)

Yes. You may have also if you watch Friday Night Fights. He's a skillful fighter and I do think he has a very good chance to win the fight. It's a good, even matchup.

Jeremy (Rio Rancho, NM)

How dumb did you look crying like a little girl cause Mayweather wasn't doing things on your time table, only to see him sign the contract that day?

Dan Rafael
  (2:17 PM)

If you want to get technical, I wasn't crying at all. It was Richard Schaefer. And when the promoter of the fight has serious concerns, you take that seriously.

Lazer (Brooklyn. NY)

This is a bit random: every time I see another article about a once great who is fighting on and how sad and dangerous it is, I think, How about the Journeyman who get knocked out 10-20 times in their careers? how come no one is worried for them?

Dan Rafael
  (2:20 PM)

It's not that people aren't concerned but they are anonymous to most people, not well known, beloved fighters. Why do we care more than Michael Jackson died than some other unknown 50-year-old?

Eric (Omaha)

Dan - I know you're a big Freitas fan. What's your favorite fight of his?

Dan Rafael
  (2:21 PM)

Camayor and Barrios. He was brilliant in the Casamayor fight and the Barrios fight was just an all-out war.

Katie (Akron, OH)

I know you hated on Chop Chop's fight, but aren't you interested to see what kind of mask he will wear into the ring?

Dan Rafael
  (2:21 PM)

Not in the slightest.

Floyd Jr. (Las Vegas)

I think my ribs are starting to hurt!

Shawn (Tempe)

Jeremy, why does Dan look dumb for reporting what Schaefer had told him and many other boxing writers? That's what journalists do.

Dan Rafael
  (2:23 PM)

Exactly. But the Floyd Kool Aid drinkers are so obsessed with their blind hero worship, they can't deal with anything but applause for their God.

chris (oklahoma city, ok)

Can my wife get an honorary fight freak status? In the 3 years we've been married, she's bought me tickets to Vasquez/Marquez I and now she just surprised me with Pacquiao/Clottey tickets. Pretty freakin awesome

Dan Rafael
  (2:24 PM)

I don't think honorary Freak Status would do it. She is simply a Fight Freak, even if she's in the closet.

Berndawg (CHI)

Pathetic if I ask about an upcoming BJ Flores fight?

Dan Rafael
  (2:25 PM)

Extremely. You should know by now that he doesn't really fight. He talks about fighting and then makes a cameo against a stiff and comes up with some reason why he wasn't facing a real guy.

Sonny (Chicago, IL)

Who is the coolest boxer you have ever interviewed?

Dan Rafael
  (2:29 PM)

Too many to name. But there are several I have enjoyed interviewing. Naseem Hamed was always fun. Rahman was fun. Kostya Tszyu was cool. Oscar was always very generous with his time. Glen Johnson is a true gentleman. There are a lot who were/are cool to interview.

Daniel (Hawthorne)

How was Freitas brilliant in the Casamayor fight when we all know he lost that fight other than you bias Freitas lovers. Casamayor never gets his due.

Dan Rafael
  (2:31 PM)

I thought Freitas beat him fair and square in a good, competitive fight.

Joe (RI)

For the Record Hartford CT still sucks

Dan Rafael
  (2:31 PM)

No kidding. This is not news.

Kevin (Fall River)

Where were you and what did you do when Douglas KO'd Tyson? Or was this before you were a Freak?

Dan Rafael
  (2:32 PM)

I was asleep ill in my dorm room in college.

James (Athens)

I'm so excited for Valero DeMarco. Is it possible to be too excited? I'm pumped. Fight of the year potential. Fight of the decade potential.

Dan Rafael
  (2:33 PM)

Could be really good, but settle down. Take a deep breath.

Ankur (New Jersey)

Surprised, no batphone today.

Dan Rafael
  (2:34 PM)

Just because I haven't announced it doesn't mean it has been ringing.

Paulie (Chicago)

Speaking of Casamayor... any news to report? Seems like the Mayweather-Mosley card is a good spot for a comeback.

Dan Rafael
  (2:35 PM)

Schaefer mentioned that there had been a little discussion of a Casamayor-Joan Guzman fight but nothing came of it. My response to him was thank God.

Jimmy (Arlington, VA)

Are there any boxers that you interviewed, who were unexpectedly rude?

Dan Rafael
  (2:36 PM)

Not really, although Winky Wright was once doing a conference call with media members and excused himself in the middle of the call to take a shower and said he'd be right back. That was a little rude.

Kris Krepps (GR)

When was the last time you did a 1-on-1 interview with Mayweather?

Dan Rafael
  (2:36 PM)

Just before the Marquez fight in September I think.

Dan Rafael
  (2:36 PM)

Just before the Marquez fight in September I think.

Jeffery (NYC)

So if you ever lost your cell phone and I found it, I would therefore be in possession of many high profile contacts in the boxing world. Perhaps even #'s of top prize fighters.

Dan Rafael
  (2:37 PM)

You are correct.

Dan Rafael
  (2:37 PM)

Thankfully my phone list in my PC and laptop and also print out a hard copy every few months just to be sure I have it in multiple places.

Ron Mexico (San Diego)

DTM- why is telling the truth considered "hating"????

Dan Rafael
  (2:39 PM)

I wish I knew.

Larry (LA)

@ Ron... The only boxer DTM hates is James Toney

Dan Rafael
  (2:40 PM)

I have no idea where that comes from. I have always liked watching James fight and have always gotten on well with him in person.

Ron (Bethel, Ct)

Dan the man, your schedule shows saturdays top rank card on fox sports net and fox sports espanol but while checking the guide I can't find it on fox sports net. Do you know if there has been a change??

Dan Rafael
  (2:45 PM)

All of the cards are available to FSN. One of the three per month will be cleared nationwide. The other one that takes place in the US will be picked up on an affiliate by affiliate basis, be it live or on tape. They are all live on Espanol.

Andrew (Austin)

Love the blog Dan. You buy into Miranda's talk about the improvements under his new trainer? Excited about the Bute fight?

Dan Rafael
  (2:46 PM)

I think Joe Goossen can only help Miranda, who got by a lot more on being a good athlete than being a good fighter. But Joe is also a good teacher and he may be able to refine Miranda a little bit, which could make a big difference. Miranda's only losses have to the best guys and he got robbed of a knockout in the first Abraham fight.

Chris M. (Canada)

Doesn't surprise me much to hear a dude like Winky would get up and take a shower in the middle of an important media call. The guy's always seemed to take big twelfth-rounds in his career just as lightly...

Dan Rafael
  (2:46 PM)

LOL!

Tony (Tampa)

Dan,Over or under Bhop-Roy Jones does over 500,000 buys in April.

Dan Rafael
  (2:47 PM)

Under.

Randy (Shanghai)

How can you say HBO has the better upcoming schedule when Showtime has Abraham/ Dirrell in March and Ward/ Green and Kessler/ Froch in April?

Dan Rafael
  (2:49 PM)

Those are good, not dissing 'em at all. But I like the idea of Alexander-Urango, Maidana-Cayo and Katsidis-Guerrero in March, Bute-Miranda and Pavlik-Martinez in April with Khan against somebody like Marquez or Malignaggi along with Ortiz-Campbell in May to be overall better fights and more of them. Not to mention a Paul Williams fight in May and Berto fight in April.

Nick (St. Paul)

What do you think about the possible Litzau - Juarez fight? Would it be a good match up?

Dan Rafael
  (2:50 PM)

Very solid fight for the Jones-Hopkins ppv.

Joe (RI)

Which does Joe Goosen do better: Train Boxers or Pick out Dress Shirts

Dan Rafael
  (2:51 PM)

He's the master at both crafts.

bj (new haven)

is it me or does tavoris cloud's mangement suck? i know he had a year off last year in between fights, now he may be delaying his mar 26th fight? what is going on with him and his team????

Dan Rafael
  (2:53 PM)

They are clueless.

PJ (Vacaville)

DTM your thoughts on Kevin Iole...you guys seem to be on the same page quite often

Dan Rafael
  (2:58 PM)

My man. Top notch writer and good guy. We have sat next to each other at dozens of major fights.

C.M. (Canada)

I like how you and Kevin are open in your support for each other's work. Refreshing to see you guys aren't the ESPN/Yahoo Sports equivalent to Golden Boy/Top Rank haha.

Dan Rafael
  (3:01 PM)

We've known each other since long before either of us had our current gigs. I worked at USA TODAY and he worked at the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Unlike too many guys who write about boxing on the Internet, he's a real journalist, not just a fan with a phone book. I respect that a lot.

Dan Rafael
  (3:03 PM)

Oh my. Just got this update from my wife:LOOKING BACK AT THE BIGGEST STORM OF RECORD FOR WASHINGTON DC... THE JANUARY 1922 KNICKERBOCKER STORM ... 28.0 INCHES OF SNOW WAS PRODUCED FROM 3.02 INCHES OF LIQUID WATER. CURRENT FORECASTS FOR THIS EVENT HAVE TOTAL LIQUID FALLING FROM THIS STORM APPROACHING 3 INCHES ... WHICH ACCORDINGLY WOULD CREATE A SNOWFALL THAT WILL RIVAL THE KNICKERBOCKER STORM TOTAL. GENERALLY ACROSS THE REGION ... 20 TO30 INCHES OF SNOW WILL FALL BY SATURDAY EVENING.

Matt (State College, PA)

Dan for the Mosley-Mayweather fight I thought the standard glove size in Nevada was 10 ounce gloves?

Dan Rafael
  (3:05 PM)

It is unless the camps agree to 8 ounces. 10 ounces is the kind they would use in the event of a disagreement. However, the Mosley-Mayweather contract says 8 ounces, according to those who have read the contract.

Joe (Buffalo)

All this talk of snow is interesting, but it is hard to feel bad for anyone in DC. In buffalo in 2002 we received just under 7 feet in 2 1/2 days, yes 7 feet, look it up

Dan Rafael
  (3:06 PM)

That's upstate NY, where it's expected. Not here in Virginia, where we've had more snow already this winter than I think in the previous nine winters I have lived here combined.

Matt (State College, PA)

Hey Dan whats up with Humberto Soto?

Dan Rafael
  (3:06 PM)

He may wind up on the undercard of Foreman-Cotto in June.

Justin (Houston)

Dan, do you know when tickets for mayweather/mosely will go on sale?

Dan Rafael
  (3:08 PM)

Not sure. I sent Richard Schaefer and email a little while ago when some other Freaks asked about it. If he answers before the chat is over, I will let you know.

Josh (Catania, Sicily)

Foreman-Cotto is a done deal? If not do you know what peices theyre still working on (like contract wise)?

Dan Rafael
  (3:09 PM)

It's not signed yet but Arum says it will get done and both fighters want the fight. Just takes time to finalize everything.

Mark A (Fresno)

What'd you think of Edge winning the Royal Rumble!!!???!!

Dan Rafael
  (3:09 PM)

Loved it. Was a nice surprise to have him back.

Mike (Jersey)

Dan are they showing Abregu-Guteirrez tomorrow night?

Dan Rafael
  (3:10 PM)

Yes, that fight opens the Showtime telecast.

Rick (Nashville)

What is the next FNF you will be involved on? Do you plan on making any of the fights live?

Dan Rafael
  (3:12 PM)

My next date in the studio is March 5. There may be some Skype appearances between now and then, although not tonight.

Dan Rafael
  (3:15 PM)

OK, Freaks thanks for the chat today. Hope you check out the notebook, Adamek story, new blog and updated schedule and rankings. Enjoy the fights this weekend and report back here tomorrow night after the Showtime fights for a little RAD late night chat action. Peace.
