When will the Cowboy's playoff woes end??
Well, they ended this season when they beat Philly. You have to give the Cowboys credit for beating a team three times, that's hard to do in any sport. As far as moving forward, the Cowboys weren't better than Minnesota, that's just a fact. Next year, I expect the Cowboys to perform much better, especially on offense.
Who do you think will win Super Bowl XLIV?
My heart says the Saints, just because they're the sexy pick, with what New Orleans had to battle back from and stuff like that. But it's hard to pick against Peyton Manning. With Freeney less than 100 percent it does give the Vikings some sort of an advantage, but Mathis is a strong, strong player, sort like Anthony Spencer was toward the end of the 2009 season.Take the Colts 35-31.
Calvin - Your boy Matt Mosley said the other day that the only corners in the league better than Jenkins right now are the 3 AFC Pro Bowlers and C-Wood . . Do you agree with that? How good can this guy be?
Chase,You need to stop listening to Mosley. He's crazy. Yeah, Jenkins was fantastic last season, better than Newman in my opinion. But Jenkins got beatup a little bit in that Vikings game. He'll bounce back. Jenkins is up there with Reavis of the Jets, a good, talented and young cornerback. Give Jenkins another year before we say he's one of the best in the league.
what are cowboys going to do about romo never going to take to a super bowl what about vick would that work?
Dino,What's wrong with you? Romo had a very, very good year in 2009. He threw a career-low nine picks and threw for a career-high in passing yards with 4,483. Romo is the starter for this team and after leading them to a playoff win this season, I expect big things from him in the future.I think Vick isn't a good fit here in Dallas. He should wait behind Mcnabb next year and then see what happens.
Calvin - you're the man. Any chance we can trade MBIII to a team like the Chargers or Browns for a 3rd-rounder? We know what Felix is all about and I still think TC is even better than we have seen
I'm ready to give Felix the No. 1 running back duties, but it's not my team. Jerry Jones said the Cowboys owe Barber a roster bonus whether or not he's on the team. I think Barber will be here in 2010 and after that he won't. Felix has to prove he can play at this level without getting hurt. In the last two years he missed a game or games due to injury. He needs to get through a year injury-free. If that happens, yeah, make him the lead dawg.
DO YOU SEE THE BOYS GOING AFTER KICKRETURN SPECIALIST? ALSO DO YOU OLGETREE & FELIX STARTING NEXT SEASON.
They need one. Felix and Crayton/Newman are not a productive return unit. However, I would like to see Ogletree return kicks and hopefully, the team will draft someone who can return a punt. Felix can't do it.
Is Jerry Jones looking to sign any big time free agents?
Not much. Jones said the Cowboys will spend money, if necessary on free agents. The biggest need is finding a kicker. There is a good crop of free agent kickers floating around for 2010.Neil Rackers, Billy Cundiff, Shayne Graham, Matt Stover, Jay Feely, Sebastian Janikowski and Jeff Reed are available. I doubt the team will bring back Nick Folk, who they cut in mid-December.Dallas has depth at several key positions, espeically at linebacker. The offensive line concerns me because Flo Adams is getting up there in age and Kyle Kosier is entering the final year of his deal.
what's the possibility that Brandon Marshall will be a cowboy by 2010? I saw he was trying to leave denver for the longest time in 2009. So could Dallas be seeing him in their training camps?
Brandon said Wednesday he wants to remain in Denver, yeah we've heard that before, but that's just the way it is. I think the Broncos should get rid of Marshall, but it's hard to rid yourself of a talented player who can beat you in so many different ways. I doubt Brandon will play for Dallas.
If Roy Williams has another bad year will Jerry own up that it was a busted move on his part to give up so many draft picks and millions and get rid of him?
I don't think Jerry will own up to it, Scot. But I do believe if Roy has another bad year, he will get cut. Roy said it to me a few weeks ago. The 2010 season is a big one for Roy Williams. He has to produce. Some of his problems come from running bad routes, bad play calls and Romo not finding or trusting him.
It's obvious that Roy Williams is still on the team next year, but what if Patrick Crayton or Kevin Ogletree surpass him on the depth chart, will he make waves in the locker room?
I doubt it. That's never been Roy's style. Ogletree has a better chance of surpassing Roy than Crayton. Ogletree has speed the Cowboys like, Jerry Jones loves him, but he has to work on staying consistent. What does that mean? Run better routes, catch the ball all the time, be on time for practice, act like a professional. Those types of things will help Ogletree get better.
Hey cal, would love to see a cowboy-redskins game on thanksgiving this year, you think it could happen?
The NFL likes to keep those division games away from Thanksgiving. The networks normally want those divison games for Sundays.
What's more important in the first round? OT or WR?
I think the team is OK at wideout, espeically if Roy can play better in 2010. However, get a tackle. Doug Free can play both tackle spots, according to Jerry Jones, so he might solve one problem, but you can never have enough offensive linemen.
Calvin, where do you think the Cowboys look to improve in the first 3 rounds of the draft?
First pick should improve the offensive line whether it's getting a tackle or guard. The second pick should be for a secondary position. Ken Hamlin had a average year and if a good safety is available take him.The third pick will be for the best guy available. Try and get some good quality players unlike last year when the team grabbed a bunch of backups.
Guys I have to go, one of my boys from Indy is here and it's time to get ready for the game.
