Good afternoon everyone...it's a beautiful day in God's country...so let's get this partaaaayyyy started!
Can rank these guys in how they will finish? Martin, Logano or Kenseth
Yo..YC Mike...the way Logano is running got to give him a little love so I'm ranking him second just behind Martin and just ahead of Kenseth.
what about the Sunday warm-up? This webpage only says wednsdays. I would love to get my hands on your Guru's Garage reports! Thnx Steven
Steven...love to have you join us...I think we start at 10:00 eastern this Sunday morning...go to SportsNation...and NASCAR Sunday...anyone out there with the link address for Steve?
I went with the 24 over the 33 just had a hunch. I am in second in my league. Great help...Atlanta pre-race 48-24-14-29-88 Just a pre race team.. Congrats to the US Hockey team silver.. Love ya see ya Wed
Beth..nice call on the 24 over 33..that was a few extra points...48,24,14, 29...good..88?? don't know..would I take him over 31 and 20 at this point I don't think so.
Are the Fords breaking out the new engines this week. Great Chat
They haven't the last two weeks and I haven't heard they were going to at Atlanta..just checked Ford notes real quick no mention of using the new motor...Thanks Jeff
hello guru , how do you like these picks in the A
hi guru howdo you like this early lineup, 24-29-00-43 with 14-9-39-77 on bench anyone you think i should drop from this group of guys and pick up someone else? thanks and good luck to ya
oh...kay...Johnny at this point..team not bad...hard to sit 24 and 29 for 14 and 9...00 over 39 not sure. If 39 has no major problems I think he beats 00..same thing with 43 and 77..performance wise 77 will be better but will he finish better than 43? That's the question.
What's up with the poor start of the 11 team? After Hamlin's hot finish to the 09 season, I expected big things out of him. How is Logano outrunning both the 18 and 11...they have to be the biggest disappointments after the first 3 races.
I agree with you..it is surprising (but good news to Alan in PA) Hamlin has been slow to get out of the box...let's see if they can find their footing in the next race or two..this week will tell us a lot as to where the 11 and 18 are heading. If they run bad at Atlanta..then they'll begin to get a little nervous..
Guru, with two races behind them as driver and crew chief, what are your thoughts about Kenseth going forward now that Parrott is calling the shots? Will there be continued success and would Kenseth be a good pick up for the Atlanta race?
Depends on what league you're playing in as to whether Kenseth is a good play...As far as the ESPN game, he's been solid but do you pick him over 48?...24?...5?....No...33? maybe...Kenseth is locking in on being solid top-10..other guys especially 48,5, and 24 locking in on top-fives..
Hey Mark, outside of the RCR boys, who out of the following do you think will fare well this weekend: 9, 88, 17, 20,and 56? Also, is the 82's solid performance over the first three races something he can sustain or a flash in the pan? Many thanks as always.
I would rank those guys...17,20,9,88, and 56...And the 82 is really coming along and I don't think Speed is a flash in the pan..He's even been better than Vickers lately, which is a surprise to me...boy did 83 look bad at Vegas or what?
Yo Guru, outside of Gordon and Jimmy, who are your favorites in Atlanta? Will Juan Pabs or the Schrub get a top 5? Thanks for the help brother.
I think Mark Martin will be right there so will Bowyer and Stewart as well..others who could run strong but have to prove some things in practice are 99,16,17, and 2. 42 and 18 should be good, but they seem to be snakebit lately and need to put together a hole race..
Looking for someone besides the 82 in the cellar dweller group, what are your thoughts on Smith and Menard? Or is there another sleeper out there?
Menard was 17th at Vegas and that's as high as I see him finishing, but that's not too shabby..He finished 6th in 2006 race but that race was weird and he hasn't come close to top-10 in Hotlanta since then...Smith is a guy you can count on for a 20th to 25th place finish now. He's good at staying out of trouble and he's really concentrating on being top-35 after first five races so you know he's thinking finish first..At Atlanta, Bill Elliott could be a sleeper and sneak into the top-20 somewhere.
How many cars do you think will have blown engines or engine failures in the Kolbat Tools 500 at Atlanta?
Hard to say..track is tough on engines...probably at least two.
hey garrow love the blog my question is what do you think of the thoughts of happy harvick leaving RCR? And if he did leave do you think he would be better off as a owner driver your just a driver?
I thought at one point it was a sure thing..now I'm not so sure..He's running awfully well and might derail a championship run but flirting with other teams because of how early he'd have to be doing it. Still, he's going to be checking around, but there might not be the market out there for him. Where's a step up for him from RCR? Hendrick...they're set..Gibbs..maybe if Shell is part of the deal..but does Toyota want him after all his years with Chevy?...Roush would be a step sideways and they have their four drivers...So, RCR-Harvick deal has at least a 50-50 chance...I also think he'd be crazy to try and start his own Cup team and I think he knows that.
hey mark, which two guys will perform the best from the following list: Speed, AJ, Menard, Elliott, B.Labonte, and R. Gordon(if he is running the race)?
I would rank them..Speed, Elliott, Menard, AJ, Bobby Labonte and Robby...
hey mark, think Logano can keep up his run of good finishes at Atlanta, or will he bite the dust?
I think Logano is absolutely for real and there's no reason he can't build on great finishes at Fontana and Las Vegas..Last to weeks, Logano has been solid as a rock.
FOR STEVE: http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/
This is for Steve..who wanted to know how to get on the Sunday chats...Thanks Joe's Wife!
Good Afternoon Mark, Do you see the 11 start to get on track this weekend?
Hard to say if 11 gets on track this weekend..They looked terrible at Vegas and tough to think they can make up that much ground in a week...As for Montoya, he'll be fast at Atlanta but can he finish?...That's been his problem lately...They've been good enough to run top-five and haven't.
Happy Hump Day! Can you help me with the better grouping for Atlanta...a) 16 and 17 B) 99 and 17 or C) 14 and 83...Also, I'm keeping the 20 for this week, can you confirm this is a wise move? Thank you thank you thank you!
99 and 17....Keeping 20 is not a bad move because he's red hot...
Mark how you doing? Need some advice, how this team looking in the yahoo league 24 or 99. 31, 29, 33, 17 need two. 82 or 43.know its early but just woundering if this is a good team. thanks for your help.
24...29 is sure bet in second group..and 33 in close call over 17..82 over 43..
which two you like better 24-29 , 48-29 , 24-33, 48-33, 48-31, 24 31
I'd probably go with 48-29.
Mr. Guru, I am thinking of putting the 88 in and it scares me a little. In the yahoo league. 24-29-88-77
As long as all you're looking for a top-15, stick with 88, but if you want more he's going to have prove it to me he's worthy of top-10 mention...
Mark, figured I'd send this in before my internship interview at 4. What are your thoughts of pre-lim lineup of 24-29-9-82? Or should I go with the top-20 machine of the 98 over 82, or even use 43?
Nick, I'd stick line-up you have..9 is a little bit of a question mark but others are solid..and stick with Speed over Menard..more upside from Speed..43 too many quesitons
Guru, please rank these for Hotlanta and advise why 9, 88, 00, 83-thank you King of the Kamshafts.
9,00,88,83..and I like the "King of Kamshafts mention...
whats your thoughts on this team 24-29-33-43 or do you like team B better 48-29-31-43
I like your "A" team a little better..
can kenseth win this week and steal the show
I think he'll have a strong top-10 run, but I don't see him winning...sorry.
guru whats your thoughts on the 9 and 00 do you think they are top tens this week
Yeah, they are both potential top-10s...but Reutimann has had a hard time with top finishes at Atlant.
QUESTION TO MARK GURU GARROW AT 3.20PM GODWEDNESDAYMIGHTY GURU WHO DOES THE GEORGIA GUERU HAVE FOR ATLANTA SUNDAY
I've gone with Johnson or Martin the last two weeks so why change now...? and it's good to hear from you as always Ray Gordon.
I've gone with Johnson or Martin the last two weeks so why change now...? and it's good to hear from you as always Ray Gordon.
I just read that the 39 has won the pole in ATL 7 of 16 races. With his team struggling so far, do you think he has a shot at the pole and maybe a top 15 finish? Who does your crystal ball show winning the pole?
Newman always it seems has a shot for the pole at Atlanta..if he finishes he'll definitely be top-15 or maybe even top-15..Newman might not be a bad choice for the pole..but 5 and 24 will be right there too in my opinion.
hey there guru hope your having a great week how doyou like this line up 24-29-33-43 with 14-9-83-77 on bench anything you dislike? anyone i should drop and replace with another driver? thans for the time and advise, like always good luck to ya
Think I did this one already..oops...
24-29-9-43 do you like that line up with 14-83-33-77 on bench
I like the 33 a little better than the 9...77 better than 43.
Sending in early with several questions. (1) Do you think the 20 and 82 will stay consistant throughout the season, or should I ride their wave now? (2) Can you rank these "mid pack drivers" for ATL this week 00-83-9-88, (3) Please rank the "bottom feeders" this week 43-77-21-98-78. THANKS for all your time and effort in helping us out.
Not sure about their staying power over entire season..just know right now they are in the "zone"....9,00,88,83...77,21,78,98,43
Do you think Martin and the others that tire tested hear in January will have a huge advantage?
I think doing the tire test is a definite advantage..One of the reasons I think Logano has gotten off to strong start is that he did tire test for California.
WHAT DO YOU MEAN "IF" denny runs poorly? i could beat THE GIMP simply by driving A BLIMP right now.
Well..looky..looky..who's playing hooky...and he wants to talk about Denny....HUGE surprise right?..lol..
I'm tempted to use Edwards and/or Vickers this weekend based on their track history. They've both struggled for a while now, though. What are your thoughts? Love the chats, thanks.
If I was going to gamble on one of those guys this weekend I'd go with Edwards. They are not that far off from top-guys...Vickers was totally out to lunch last week so bad it was pretty scary because on the intermediate speedways you can count on Vickers lately to run in and around top-10..but not anymore.
guru mark it down, im going to win this week im taking down 29 and 48 guarantee it
I hope you do baby...but bolt on four for the last pitstop will you?..
Who ya like this week Guru?
I like Hendrick trio of 48,24, and 5...I like the 29 too...
Mark: How in the world are you really able to tell who is REALLY a Start and Park nowadays. First NASCAR wants them so they do not have to cut the field and then they threaten them and confiscate the 66 car. Then all the lip service about the start and parks last weekend. Looks like NASCAR is once again talking out of both sides of their mouth. If they do not want the start and parks why don?t they just cut the field to 38 drivers?
Yeah..the start and park thing NASCAR has been Jeckyl and Hyde about this...everything would be fine in my opinion if Prism Motorsports, owned by Randy Humphrey and Phil Parsons, didn't try to put in two start and parks a week and make about 150K per week which is better than guy who ran guts out and finished 10th...They were doing it to pocket more money and make deal a cash cow and that was rubbing it NASCAR's face and no way they were going to let that continue to happen. Given what NASCAR is threatening to do by tearing down cars then I think eventually we'll see fields less than 43 at a race or two this year.
how bout a pre race top ten prediction?
top 10...let's see...48,24,5,29,33,17,14,31,20, and 18..
Mark, Rank these guys for Atlanta, they all all in the same group in the work league, 5,24,29,31,33,48, thanks.
48,24,5,29,33,33,31....all are at least top-10 potential.
Well, that's going to do it this afternoon...don't forget Sunday morning 10:00 eastern for the race day chat..Looking forward to chatting with you again..Until then, have a great week everyone...The Guru has left the building!
