Chat with Bruce Feldman

  (2:03 PM)

Wow! Wild finish in that OSU-Michigan game.. fun day of college hoops. Not so much fun for Oregon football, so while there's a lull in games, let's talk some football.

Theo (Columbus, Ohio)

With the way he performed in Ohio State's Rose bowl victory, is Terrelle Pryor ready to lead the Buckeyes back to a national championship?

  (2:04 PM)

They'll have a realistic shot. It was a big help that Cam Heyward opted to come back.. Pryor needs to continue to develop as a passer. Big test early when Miami visits OSU.

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

Which College Football players that played for Syracuse in 2009 will play in the NFL in 2010?

  (2:07 PM)

DL Arthur Jones, brother of rising UFC star Jon Bones Jones, will make it in the NFL. WR Mike Williams who was part of the program for a bit of 2009, has a shot because people are intrigued by his athleticism. After those two, I think that's it. Paulus? Doubt it.

Derek (Columbus)

Do you think the Huskers will win the Big XII and possibly go to the BCS bowl game

  (2:08 PM)

They'll be the favorite out of the Big 12 North. Will they be better than OU and Texas? Not sure if their offensive has enough firepower at this point.

Jesse (Greenville)

Do you think C.J. Spiller deserved to be invited to NY for the heisman? And how sucsesfull do you think his NFL career will be?

  (2:11 PM)

Yeah, but by then they knew he wasn't going to win, but I think he was deserving of the honor to be invited to NYC... I think he can be used in a role like Reggie Bush as a change of pace/all-purpose back who can hit some big plays. Have heard from some NFL personnel folks they wonder if he's patient enough or has the vision to be a bigtime RB consistently though. Plus, his size is a concern.

Iowa Hawkeyes (Iowa City, IA)

Why do you hate us?

  (2:12 PM)

I do? I've been saying the past two months I think Iowa, along with Wisky and OSU will be in the top 15 and in the hunt for the Big Ten title.

Brandon (Ohio)

Do you the cincy bearcats have a shot to repeat as Big East Champs? and a possible shot at the national title game?

  (2:14 PM)

I don't see the national title game shot.. I like the new staff and you have a good QB but I don't think Cincy is ready to be a top 10 this year.

Sam (ATL)

Do Kiffin and company have a shot at winning the Pac10?

  (2:15 PM)

Yes, and I think it gets even better the more this mess at Oregon unfolds... USC still has talent. Matt Barkley will be better as a sophomore. They also get their toughest opponents at home this year.

Gabe (PDX)

most duck fans are resigned to the fact that Masoli will be gone and LMJ will get a game or two. we're ready to move on to the Darron Thomas era. which do you think is more replaceable given the other options? if this was the SEC, is anyone even talking about it?

  (2:17 PM)

I think Jeremiah Masoli is the tougher guy to replace. He fits that offense so well.

Jonathan (Encino, CA)

Hey Bruce, I really enjoyed Meat Market. Why do you think Orgeron loves SoCal so much? It seems like he would his intensity and thirst for competition to be mirrored by the crazies in the south.

  (2:22 PM)

Thanks. He once explained his connection to USC to me while down in Oxford. He was a guy who really appreciated going into all of the storied places in the SEC (Tiger Stadium, Bryany-Denny, etc).. and this was similar.Back in his first run at USC, he had spent a lot of time with some of the older coaches (from the John McKay era) who explained to him what USC football meant to them. He totally bought in. Some guys just love a certain place or thing. He's that way about USC. Plus, I know his family loved Southern California.

Brutus (Columbus, OH)

Why does Pat Forde hate us?

  (2:23 PM)

Honestly, I don't think Pat hates anything.. The guy is more one of the pleasant, decent people I've ever been around.

Mike (Eugene)

What kind of punishment do you think Chip Kelly will lay on LaMichael James?

  (2:25 PM)

Guessing that he sits him for six games but it wouldn't surprise me if he booted him. I know Kelly is really embarrassed by all of this and how it's played out. I bet he wants to send a message to everyone because there's too much speculation that he doesn't have the respect of his players.

Jryle (Albany Louisiana)

How good do u think lsu can really be?

  (2:26 PM)

Not sure.. 9-3? Will they be able to run the ball? That's my big question with them. I don't see them passing by Bama and I could see Ark being the #2 in the SEC West.

Craig (St. Paul, MN)

FYI - Most Hawkeye fans know that just because you don't pick them to win the National Title doesn't mean you "hate" them.

  (2:28 PM)

Honestly, no. No hate for the Hawkeyes.

Chris (DC)

What are your thoughts on ND possibly going to the Big10?

  (2:30 PM)

If ND didn't have to for financial reasons, then I don't think the Irish should. Also, if the Big Ten is going to make the Irish come to them rather than the other way around, as the Chicago Trib reported the other day, I don't see the connection happening. Pride is tricky like that.

Ezra (Tucson, Az)

Who do you like to win March Madness?

  (2:31 PM)

Kentucky. Am fascinated by Calipari and DeMarcus Cousins...

  (2:33 PM)

I haven't covered much hoops in a while but once interviewed Calipari for a story about former Ohio State star Jim Jackson. I'd interviewed like 60 people for the story about JJ's well-traveled NBA career. Calipari was the best interview. He kept on going "Jimmy Jackson Balls, man."Must've said it like six times in 20 minutes.

Htodd (Birmingham, al)

Did you see Joe Webb's pro day stats yesterday?

  (2:34 PM)

Damn, I know. He put on a show: 42.5-inch vert and a sick broad jump of 11 feet, 6 inches. If he can show decent hands, he'll be around for a while...

  (2:35 PM)

Also, I Tweeted about this last night but the Freak Show of all draft Freaks is Kent State WR/H-Back/LB/ special teamer Jameson Konz: 4.38 & verticals 46 inches at Pro Day while measuring 6-3, 234.

thomas (los angeles)

you've covered taylor mays a bunch. is he closer to 4.24 or 4.43?

  (2:37 PM)

I think Taylor Mays is a 4.3 guy when it comes to straight line speed. Also he is a really hard worker and he'll hit anything that moves. Would be curious what the NFL buzz would be like if he were a Will LB.

thomas (los angeles)

what are your top five programs of all time? which job, in your view, is the best in america?

  (2:38 PM)

Best job of all: TexasTop all-time CF programs if you're talking the past 100 yrs: ND, Michigan, OSU, Bama, USC?

Clay (Charlotte)

How many of the Gator's number 1 recruiting class do you expect to see on the field next year? Powell for sure, right?

  (2:39 PM)

I'd say at least 15 of them especially the DL and DB guys. Lots of athletes who can be big factors on special teams right away.

Zach (Athens, TX)

Do you think this will be the year that Baylor finally makes a bowl game?

  (2:39 PM)

I do think so, assuming Robert Griffin comes back 100 percent. He's that good.

Ryan (Tempe)

ASU's chances on winning the PAC 10? I give them 35%

  (2:40 PM)

Ryan (Tempe)

Will ASU or Arizona make a bowl game?

  (2:40 PM)

I like Zona's chances more because they have more stability at QB with Nick Foles.

sean (massachusetts)

do you think notre dame can be a national championship contender next season if they leave their independent league

  (2:41 PM)

No. I could see 8-4 but they have too many holes on D and the O-line, which wasn't great before, needs to be re-built.

brian (Atlanta)

Bruce, any update on the conference expansion? What did you think of Bill Stewart's comments last night?

  (2:43 PM)

I actually just Tweeted about it. Pretty interesting stuff that he was open to saying that and the WVU staff were talking about about how if they went to the SEC, Big Ten or ACC would affect WVU recruiting wise. I suspect the Big East isn't thrilled that he'd be so openly talking about that.

How long before Todd Dodge loses his job?

  (2:45 PM)

North Texas really upgraded facilities a lot and UNT used to be really good. 2-10 again won't cut it.. Not saying he MUST win at least seven to keep the job, but they have to get in the mix in the Sun Belt, 5-7 might be enough, but not sure.

Larry (WI)

Does a school like Wisconsin have a legit shot of ever winning the BCS only recruiting 2 and 3 star guys?

  (2:47 PM)

I think so. They've been smart in who they've signed and how they develop them.

Chris (Phoenix)

Bruce, Ted Miller said that cultural issues, playing on Sunday, and other reasons are the driving force behind BYU not getting into a possible Pac-12 with Utah (taking Colorado instead). I understand it's not all about football, but do you see it the same way? I just think adding the Utah schools would be a perfect fit.

  (2:48 PM)

I think Ted is right about that in regards to BYU. My hunch is Utah and Colorado make a lot more sense to the Pac-10 brass.

Ryan (Tempe)

Best college football town in the PAC 10 is...

  (2:50 PM)

I'll say Eugene although am really fond of Tempe and I think Palo Alto is spectacular.

Wes (Ohio)

Do you see Jameson Konz with his pro day numbers now getting drafted or will he be a PFA ?

  (2:52 PM)

I could see someone taking a shot at him in the 7th round. The question is where do you play him? The guy obviously is a phenomenal specimen. Now the questions are is he tough, savvy and instinctive? He may be. (As I wrote in the blog this week, no school cranks out this project guys like Kent State does.) Otherwise, I think USA Bobsled should keep tabs on him.

Otto (CA)

What is Matt Barkley's real height?

  (2:52 PM)

I'd say around 6-2, maybe 6-2 1/2.

NIcholas (Austin)

Do you think (like the new Big 12 ESPN blogger) the Red Raiders will fall to last in the Big 12 South with all those returning starters?

  (2:54 PM)

I think Tech should win eight games. They have a lot back on offense. The issue is how will the players handle the change in systems?

Matthew C. (West Virginia)

Have you ever been to a game at Nippert stadium? Where the Beer is cold and the weather is colder!

  (2:54 PM)

I actually have not. Some of my sports writer friends say they've been pleasantly surprised by Nippert.

Devaney (St. Louis)

Suh or McCoy? Who should I take?

  (2:54 PM)

I'd go with Suh.

Zach (Athens, TX)

How long before The U are title contenders again?

  (2:55 PM)

If the Canes O-line develops, they'll be in the mix this year. They have a lot of athletes on D, great skill talent, a leader in Jacory Harris, but can the O-line handle playing at OSU early?

Mike (Chicago)

Who's your sleeper championship team for next year?

  (2:56 PM)

The Badgers. I'm not saying they'll win it all but that'd be my sleeper.

Donnie (Oklahoma)

How can you not have OU as one of the best programs the last 100 years? C'mon Bruce- Boomer Sooner

  (2:59 PM)

It's tough to limit it to 5.. Didn't have Texas in there either. Or Penn State or Miami or FSU. Or Tennessee.

  (3:00 PM)

Three more questions..

Nick (Atlanta)

Is UGA even close to catching Florida in the SEC East?

  (3:02 PM)

Closer than they were in 2009. Not sure if they can overtake them. We'll see how the 3-4 works out for the Dawgs on D.

Ezra (Tucson, Az)

Where do you think Foles ranks in the top PAC 10 Quarterbacks?

  (3:05 PM)

I'd start with Jake Locker and then say in the next wave you have Andrew Luck, Foles, Matt Barkley and maybe Kevin Riley.. If Masoli's playing he's up there with Locker.

Matt (Seattle)

Saw U2 on the Popmart tour at Autzen Stadium, Eugene Oregon.....I would have to agree......great town.

  (3:06 PM)

I had a blast up there this season when Oregon hosted USC. It's a unique town that is very scenic, has some cool bars and restaurants. Really underrated place.

  (3:07 PM)

Thanks for all of your questions. If I didn't get to yours, send it to me via Twitter at BFeldmanESPN and I'll answer it over there.
