Hi folks, How's it going? One warning before we begin. I will not post any attempts at lame April Fool's jokes, or what I think may be one. That aside, fire away.
Do you think Dale Jr will win one of the next 3 races?
No, not really, but his best chance probably is Talladega.
Why is it that Brad K doesn't carry the rookie stripe on the back oh his car?
Because he's not a rookie, not officially. You have to run seven races or less in the previous Cup season to be listed as a rookie.
Happy Easter Terry, Do you think the 4 wide drag racing at Charlotte is a novelty or the future of NHRA drag racing??????
I hope they continue to do it, but I have my doubts. Most of the drivers don't want it to be a championship points event. They want it to be some type of all-star event.
Terry, in your opinion who has the best season, Sadler, McMurray or Vickers? Chase for any of them?
I'd say Vickers. He made the Chase last year and I think he can make it again.
Terry,Thanks for chatting with us...who do you think will run the best when the new Nationwide car debuts?
Good question. That's only four races this year, but sadly, it'll probably be the Cup guys like Busch and Edwards because the cars are similar to the Cup cars.
There are rumors that Martinsville may lose a race to get another date for Vegas. The racing at the paperclip was awesome Monday and I'd hate to see that racetrack go the way of Darlington. What are the chances that ends up happening?
I think Martinsville is safe for both races. NASCAR realizes how much fans love the place and the racing is good. Vegas isn't getting a second race anytime soon. Kansas will get a second race and Kentucky will get a race.
Terry, as always appreciate you doing the chats. I was wondering your pick for Sunday (early morning) in Malaysia? I'm hoping Alonso but think that Massa finally wins.
Wouldn't surprise me a bit to see Fernando win it.
Terry, I read in todays paper that Shrub slammed JGR and his team when commenting on why he hasnt won this year saying "I'm only as good as my equipment wil let me go" sounds to me like trouble is brewing in the JGR shop
Kyle is disappointed in how things have started, but Denny proved there's nothing wrong with JGR equipment. So far, the crew chief change hasn't gone well on the 18.
terry when are people going to give paul menard credit. slugger labbe has made paul show he can drive a race car. rich dad or not paul drives the car. paul will make the chase.
I think people have been given Paul credit this year, including me. The Chase is possible, but I think it's still a longshot.
How awesome was Denny Hamlin's run to the checker this past weekend?
Denny did a heck of a job getting to the front at the end. Now the big question is whether the knee surgery will affect him. ACL surgery isn't a little thing. It take months to get back to normal.
Is anyone not named Harvick (or Bush, going back to last year) ever going to win a truck race when those guys are in the field? I know those guys like to run away from the field in those races, but how much more exciting would it be if the great racing between Sauter, Hornaday, and Skinner we saw at Martinsville was for the lead or win?
I'm with ya Dee. I wish the Cup guys would stay in Cup, but it's not gonna happen.
Think rpm success is great for the sport no matter which rpm driver wins a race? I like kahne but seems like he wants to leave. Should he be honored 2 drive for petty?!
He is honored to drive for Petty. But that's not enough to keep him there is some other team offers him more money and a better chance to win a championship.
Terry, I agree, JGR equipment is top notch, but ole Denny boy also was crying the blues earlier in the season about Yotas not having enough horses under the hood. as for the CC change I'm sure big brother sends little brother thank you texts 200-300 times a week
Big bro is pretty happy with Steve. As for the Toyota horses, let's see how they look at Texas. That will tell us a klot about where they are.
Through six races, who is your #1 contender to dethrone the 48? I'm liking the combination of Kurt Busch and Steve Addington (Chad Knaus lite). Is the 2 car really the one to watch?
I'd put Kurt near the top, but I wouldn't count out the Roush boys either. Greg and Matt are having good years and racing competitively every week.
If Denny does get back in his car at Phoenix does that shoot holes in the argument that race car drivers are athletes. Most stick and ball athletes take at least six months before they can compete after this surgery, despite the fact that they are in top physical shape when injured
Racers are athletes, but not the same time of athletes. Denny will be in the car at Phoenix. But he will be in some pain and he'll have to do everything with his right foot, something he doesn't normally do. He'll also need help getting in and out odf the car.
Terry, JPM is having the worst luck this season. Is it purely bad luck or is there something going on with the team? Seems like he has had a car capable of top 5's every week and something out of his control goes wrong. Do you think they will recover and have a shot at the chase? Certainly can't have this kind of luck all season!
He's had some tough luck and they'll improve. But I just don't get the feeling they are clicking the way they were last year. Maybe that will change.
Hi TerryDo you think the caution should have come out at the end of the race? And do you agree with what Gordon said about that?
It's questionable. But those are 50/50 calls that can go either way. NASCAR will say they always err on the side of safety.
If....big if because I'm rooting for Allgaier, Kyle wins this weekend does he smash the guitar??
Not a chance in you know where.
If Justin goes to cup next year and takes the 77 or a 4th Penske ride, do you see Parker taking over the 12 NW ride?
Probably, but that's a lot of ifs. Justin and Parker have a bright future in NASCAR.
do you think that kevin harvick is going to sweep truck and nationwide races this weekend.
The odds are against it, but it wouldn't surprise me to see him make it three in a row in the truck.
Terry, Will the new Nationwide car have the spoiler instead of the wing??????
I think the wing is done everywhere.
Hey good ol buddy, wanted to know yer thoughts on jeff gordon's comments about that quick late race caution from nascar. Wuddy ya thank?.....
My hero Ed. I'm going with what you think. Jeff probably is right, but he shouldn't be surprised about it.
Why does the Daytona race continue to get so much attention when it's obvious that the winner is largely a fluke?
I don't know if it's a fluke, but the fact that almost anyone can win it what makes it fun for a lot of fans.
Terry why wouldn?t a guy like Casey Mears take his "name" and try open wheel - Indy Cars? His namesake has had great success in the open wheel circuit. He has had sponsor relationships in NASCAR, maybe some he could pry over to the Indy Car which costs a lot less to sponsor a car. It?s time for these talented NASCAR cast offs to try Indy Car?. Indy car popularity is on its way back and a good NASCAR name would be good for both the driver & series. By the way, I do root for Casey, good dude ? hard luck over the years.
I don't know that Casey has any offers to race Indy cars. He hasn't done that in a long time. Drivers will go wherever they think they can have the most success. Right now, Casey still feels that's NASCAR, even though he doesn't have a full-time ride.
Do you think that Martin Truex Jr. can be consistantly successful in the #56 car like he has been the last 2 weeks at Bristol and Martinsville?
I think Martin can get it done with that team. But overall, I've been disappointed with MWR this year. They haven't started as well as I thought they would.
Do you think the RPM cars are on par with the Roush cars? It's early, but it doesn't appear so. Menard may be at an advantage because he ran their stuff last year and has had a year to get accustomed. Thoughts?
In many ways, they are the same cars. They use the same engines and share info on chassis set-ups. But it probably does help Paul since he was part of the RFR program last season.
Why does David Ragan seem to be so far behind is RFR teammates? Equipment? Driving?
They have the same equipment, but different crews. Team work and chemistry means a lot in Cup.
Martinsville should be the last race of the year. Imagine how exciting the finish would be with the title on the line.
It would be wild, but it won't happen. No way NASCAR would end the year in a market that small.
I hope you don't mind me continuing to bring up the truck series, but has Harvick decided whether he is going to go for championship in that series? I know he hasn't run all the races, but because he wins every time, he's up there in points. Seems like if he does become a lame duck Cup driver as many are anticipating, it makes sense that he would put more effort in his Nationwide and Truck teams. Do you see him going for a championship in either of those series? Thanks for the chat!
Harvick won't run for the champiopnship. He won't compete in enough trucks events to do it. He doesn't plan to do it in NW either.
Hey, Terry. What are your predictions for the truck and Nationwide races this weekend? Think we'll see Keselowski, Busch, or Harvick sweep both races?
I hope not. I'd really like to see non-Cup drivers win both races.
When are we gonna see The G.O.A.T in a Nationwide Car?
If you mean JJ as the greatest of all time, not any time soon. And I applaud him for that.
what do you think Kevin Harvicks chances at the cup this year
I think Kevin will make the Chase but I don't see him winning the title.
Got any predictions for changes in the top-12 between now and the start of the Chase? I'm thinking Menard, Vickers, and Bowyer fall out. Martin, Hamlin, and Kyle Busch get in. Agree?
Tons of scenarios could play out between now and then, but I think Carl will get in for sure.
Which tracks can you compare the most with each other: Dover vs. Bristol nowadays, Pocono vs. Indy, Martinsville vs. Loudon or one of those 1,5 mile tracks?
Fontana and Michigan are almost identical.
It all depends on sponsorship. If the money's there, why not?
Hey Terry, are there any Nationwide drivers out there that could actually play guitar that you know of? Be an even better prize for them if that's the case...
Carl's not a bad picker. He actually played some guitar at a Nationwide banquet one year.
Do all 3 RCR cars make the Chase this year? If not, who's the odd man out?
It's looking good right now for all three of them to make it, but the real question is this: Can any of them win the title this year? I don't think so.
Do you think Joe Gibbs will ever expand to 4 cars? i know there were talks this offseason?
They want to go to four cars if the sponsorship is in place. I expect JGR to be a four-car team next year.
Do you think all the Carl Edwards stuff is good for the sport? Finally some young guys with personality (looking at you JJ)!
I don't think wrecking people on purpose at 195 mph is good for the sport, but it definitely brought NASCAR plenty of attention.
I think the guy asking when G.O.A.T would run Nationwide means Ricky Carmichael.
Gotcha. The GOAT of motocross. I think Ricky will get there, but he wants to have some success in trucks for now.
Gotta run folks. I hope everytone has a wonderful Easter holiday weekend. Take care. Peace.
