Chat with Montario Hardesty

Chris (VA)

what was the toughest defense you played last year?

Montario Hardesty
  (1:01 PM)

The toughest defense we played against last year was Alabama.

Brad (Gadsden,Alabama)

Montario, Do you have any pre-game rituals?

Montario Hardesty
  (1:02 PM)

Not really. I usually just listen to music and make sure I have my two small wrist bands on.

Spencer (Bedford,Indiana)

Montario, you played for Lane Kiffin this past year, how do you think he will do at USC?

Montario Hardesty
  (1:02 PM)

I think they will do good. He's a players coach, an offensive minded coach. I think he'll have that program back this year.

Brian (Columbia, SC)

You had a sick spin move against my Gamecocks for a touchdown, what do you think you biggest stregth is as a running back?

Montario Hardesty
  (1:04 PM)

I think my biggest strength be my ability to do everything. I pose a mismatch against linebackers and safeties. I'm an every down, three-down back.

Thomas (Nashville, TN)

Hey Montario. I have been to almost every Tennessee home game since I was 7 years old(I'm 15 by the way), and I noticed that you always had so much confidence and "motivation" in your running. How do you think you will do in the pros and where do you think/hope to get drafted?Go Big Orange!!

Montario Hardesty
  (1:05 PM)

I'm going to continue to work on my game. I still have a lot of things to prove and so much more to learn. I can't really control where or who I get drafted by. All I know is when my name is called, I show up ready to work.

Sylvain (Calgary)

Hey Montario, You had a great year running with the rock! You showed alot of confidence and hard-running down the gut! what made this year so different then your others at UT?

Montario Hardesty
  (1:06 PM)

I think ran the ball the same way every year. The only difference is the opportunities. Being the guy that the team depended on to gain yards.

Dave (W. Virginia)

What was your favorite game you played in college?

Montario Hardesty
  (1:08 PM)

There are too many to talk about. Going on the road in the SEC is always exciting. In 2006, the win over Cal was the loudest stadium I've very played in. All the games against Florida, Alabama, there are way too many to mention.

Dave (Florida)

Whats on steady rotation on your ipod right now?

Montario Hardesty
  (1:09 PM)

(Laughing) I'm listening to Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy, the new Fabulous mix tape, and a mix of slow jams.

Pete (St. Louis)

What keeps you motivated?

Montario Hardesty
  (1:11 PM)

I'm always striving to be the best. I'm the first person in my family to go to college. I'm blessed and want to keep striving to be the best.

Will (Miami)

How much have you been working out getting ready for the draft?

Montario Hardesty
  (1:12 PM)

I haven't stop since the season stopped. I've been training with a bunch of guys that are entering the draft.

Stan (CT)

Where was the toughest place to play in the SEC?

Montario Hardesty
  (1:14 PM)

It's hard to name one. The top three would be Arkansas, Alabama and Florida. All have great fans and atmospheres. Arkansas is rough to play at later in the year because it gets cold out there and that's never fun.

Shane (K'ville)

Montario, in all honesty, what were your feelings when Kiffin left UT for USC?

Montario Hardesty
  (1:16 PM)

I really didn't feel anything bad. With me being with him for a year and knowing how much he loved Tennessee, USC would have been the only place he would leave Knoxville for.

Montario Hardesty
  (1:16 PM)

I would like to thank everyone for the questions. Thanks for all the support.
