Sorry I'm late! A ton to get to after UFC 112. Let's vent.
Jon, long time no chat! I just re-watched Penn v Edgar, and I scored it the same way I originally did, 48-47 Penn. While it was close, I still don't understand how Doug Crosby has a job. If that fight was a 50-45 whitewash, everything I know about MMA must be wrong.
It was definitely a difficult fight to score. I think you can argue for at least two 10-10 rounds. I was also surprised that a judge could've given all five rounds to Edgar. Either way, you're gonna get an immediate rematch, and I have a feeling the result will be more definitive.
Does Penn get a rematch right away?
Yes. He has already been approached about it. I think the only issue right now is that B.J. wants to get back in there as soon as possible, while Frankie wants to take a few months off.
Jose Aldo vs Urijah Faber is a very underrated fight to the average MMA watcher, wouldnt you agree?
Absolutely. It looks like a fight-of-the-year candidate on paper. And because of the magnitude of the fight, I definitely think it's the right time for the WEC to launch its first PPV.
Jon, I see BJ has a book, Randy & Chuck have books. Where is Kenny's?
Shhhhh. Don't get the word out. I'm trying to be the co-author. I already have a list of possible interviews and a working title. Hopefully Kenny chooses me to do it...
Edgar need to defend his strap against Maynard BEFORE any rematch w/ BJ.
I don't agree. If ever a champion deserved an immediate rematch, it is B.J. Penn. Maynard seems kind of hypocritical to me. After he beat Nate Diaz in January, he didn't want to talk about a title shot at all. Now, b/c he feels he can beat Edgar again, he's all about it.
So, did you have Penn or Edgar winning that fight? My friends and I had a feeling Edgar was going to win after watching it.
I scored it 48-47 for Edgar. But after further review, I believe it should've been a draw.
Best chance to pull of an upset: Shields, Melendez, Lawal?
I think it's King Mo. I know he doesn't have a ton of MMA experience, but his wrestling is world-class. And Mousasi hasn't faced a ton of high-level wrestlers. Also wouldn't sleep on Shields.
Bonnar gonna show up tomorrow? Hes gonna hear it from Mcneil after defending penn so heavily
No Bonnar this week, unfortunately. But I'm sure McNeil will let him have it soon. Pat Miletich will be in studio tomorrow. Kenny Florian needed surgery for a staph infection in his knee, so he won't be back until the following week.
Do you see any WEC fighters moving up in weight to the UFC? Like Cerrone, Henderson, Aldo or Faber just to think of a few
I think there is a good chance any number of those guys eventually crosses over into the UFC. I'd be curious to see how Cerrone and Henderson would do against the likes of Tyson Griffin, Florian, Edgar, etc. As for Faber and Aldo, not sure they will move up to 155 anytime soon.
What would YOU do with Anderson? I think GSP at 170. He said it, let him try.
I would ask him to vacate the title and move up to light heavyweight permanently. If he doesn't want to fight Machida, perhaps he becomes a heavyweight. The UFC is definitely in a tough spot.
Even after Silva's performance in his last fight do you think Dana will give him the GSP fight?
Not my expectation. I think Silva's uninspired finish to the Maia fight may have taken the GSP fight temporarily off the board. I'm not even all that convinced the UFC really wants to make that fight at 170. Time will tell...
I say Melendez b/c his BJJ defense should be good after training with the Diaz brothers and Shields...
I have picked Aoki to win the fight, even though I've always been a Melendez fan. But you're right that Melendez will be super prepared for Aoki's submission game, even if you can't truly replicate the guy in training. Aoki deserves a lot of credit for coming to the U.S. to prove his worth as a Top 3 lightweight in the world.
Sup Jon. I'm a huge Anderson Silva fan but what's with his antics lately. Can he even be trusted to headline a pay per view? Do you really think Dana would put him on the undercard?
I don't think Dana would really bump Silva to the prelims. But the main event is the lasting impression, and too often his main events have left fans with a sour taste in their mouths. I think the only solution is to give him difficult opponents. I would have him fight Jon Jones next. Or maybe James Toney.
I still want to see Silva take on Belfort and Chael Sonnen. Belfort can make Silva pay for screwing around, and Sonnen has some words to back up, and the wrestling to do it.
I do agree that those two matchups have some value. And you can be sure Sonnen will go for broke to try and win the fight.
Please don't ruin Jones.. he's only been training for 2 years. Give the kid some time.
I think the UFC subscribes to your line of thinking, so you're probably safe for the time being.
How do you think Shields is going to approach Henderson? Do you think there's any way he can get and keep Hendo on his back? I'm sure he wants no part of Dan's stand-up.
That's the rub right there. Can Shields take Hendo down and keep him there? This space says it's unlikely. But Hendo has had a lengthy layoff, and you never know when a fighter will finally show his age in the cage.
Since there's going to be a rematch, I'm guessing Florian doesn't get a title shot in Boston Aug 28? Who does he fight then?
All indications are Florian will fight Gray Maynard August 28th in Boston.
Who do you like this weekend?
I like Aoki by submission and Mousasi to eventually finish King Mo. I've tried to make a case for Jake Shields, but he's just not a natural middleweight. And I think the size disadvantage will be a factor.
Hey Jon, who would you rather see fight: Silva or GSP?
After UFC 112, it's hard to endorse Anderson Silva. But when he's on, as he was in the opening two rounds, there is simply no MMA athlete who is more electric and fun to watch. It's too bad Silva appears to be insincere and unconcerned with the criticism.
After the spiders performance it got me thinking...Do you think he does lackluster against guys he knows he should crush to force the UFC to only give him big name guys. And I have a lot of respect for Maia after that fight
Brad, I am done trying to figure out what goes on in that head of Silva's. Perhaps he tired himself out with all the showboating. I don't know. But he can't do that stuff against more well-rounded opponents. And you can be sure the UFC will give him a top guy the next time out, and every fight thereafter. There will be no more one-dimensional challengers for Silva.
I know all indications are that the Rampage/ Rashad fight should be back on regardless of the results of their upcoming fights, so (IF) this fight actually does go down, who do see coming out on top?
I do think the fight will happen at UFC 114. Rampage has already screwed the UFC in the past, and I think his motivation is at an all-time high. If Rampage comes into the fight in shape, I sort of think it is his fight to lose. I usually don't pick against any of our MMA Live analysts, so I'll end up backin' Rashad.
I think the simple solution is to give Anderson another fight and soon. Make him the Co-main event under a strong main in late June/early July. Reasonable?
Right there with ya. Make him turn around quickly against Chael Sonnen.
Gegard is rightfully the favorite. But we shouldnt sleep on Mo. I actually think he will win this fight. Should be a fun one nonetheless
You are not alone. A handful of our MMA Live staffers are picking King Mo.
Also a quick update: It appears that Melendez has opened as the favorite against Shinya Aoki.
My boy Rampage will put Glass jaw Rashad to sleep in the 1st round, bank on it.
I wouldn't judge Rashad too much based upon his performance against Thiago Silva at UFC 108. He was admittedly conservative after banking the first two rounds, and it almost cost him. But if you check out Rashad's fight resume on Sherdog, it's damn impressive. A lot of big names on there.
So I can kiss Palhares/Silva goodbye? ha. But how intriguing is a Maia/Palhares match up now?
Would love to see Maia-Palhares fight. No striking allowed?
Hey Jon what are you looking forward to more, Strikeforce Nashville or the WEC ppv?
It's hard to come down on either side of this argument. Three title fights, or two title fights, including Faber-Aldo. Of all the fights over the next two weeks, Faber-Aldo piques my interest more than any other. Although King Mo-Mousasi is a close second.
You still think GSP would be an elite corner in the NFL? I want to see him run a 40 first.
Hahahaha. I definitely think GSP could hang in the NFL, even if he ran a 4.7 40.
So Franklin/Liddell is announced and I have no interest. (I really kind of fear for Liddell's health in fights anymore.) Do you think that closes the door on Tito in the UFC permanently?
Tough to say if Tito is done until more details come out. I do think he will fight again. I don't have much interest in the Liddell-Franklin fight, even if it may be more competitive than Liddell-Ortiz. I feel badly for Rich, b/c there's really not a ton for him to gain in that fight. At least if he fought (and beat) Couture, he could take a step up the 205 lbs. ladder. Beating Liddell doesn't really do anything for Franklin.
Who's the better LHW prospect: Phil Davis or Ryan Bader?
Phil Davis. And I'm not sure it's all that close. Bader has faced better guys thus far and is still undefeated, but he's also proven to be injury-prone.
I'm not sure that the gracie jiu-jitsu of stockton prepares you to defend the rubber guard magic of aoki.
What do you think the UFC will do with Gomi....Gatekeeper like Jardine perhaps...
I think that's about right. Much of it will depend on Gomi's next fight.
Ben Askren on Bellator tomorrow. Future champ?
Askren's a beast. But welterweight is a brutal division, perhaps the toughest and deepest in Bellator. I still like Dan Hornbuckle to emerge from the tourney and get the title shot against Lyman Good.
beating chuck gave shogun a title shot
...and I guess beating a UFC Hall-of-Famer may still have some value for Franklin. But he wants to contend at 205, and this fight doesn't speak to that goal at all.
How much of a factor do you think the outdoor temperature played in most of the fighters seeming to gas early at UFC 112? Everyone except Edgar was lethargic by midfight.
I do think it was a factor, but B.J. Penn hasn't been willing to use it as an excuse. Nor have others. I'm curious to see Edgar and Penn rematch stateside. Either way, you're definitely gonna get a more exciting fight when they meet again. Not saying much I guess...
When and Where can we buy MMA Live T-shirts?
E-mail your request to email@example.com. We need to have new shirts made before the next UFC Fan Expo in May.
I bit of a bold statement, but I think UFC 113 has the best overall card since UFC 100. What do you think Jon?
Not sure I can go that far. The main event is great, and the Koscheck-Daley fight is a very worthy main event. Beyond that, you've got Kimbo Slice, Stephens-Stout and not much else. I really like the way UFC 115 is shaking out for Vancouver. Paulo Thiago, Pat Barry, etc.
T/F: Shinya Aoki wil be the #1 LW in the World after Saturday night?
Toney's first opponent is.....
Randy Couture, if the commission will approve it.
I think BJ should have taken Frankie down. I think his sinus infection and knee injury prevented that. I expect BJ to dominate in the rematch.
I would also favor Penn in the rematch. I have huge respect for B.J.'s unwillingess to make excuses. But he looked so flat and inactive at times. The corner was calling for the takedown, and evidently the energy to go for it just wasn't there. Not trying to take away from Edgar's win AT ALL. He is slick as hell and a worthy UFC champion.
When will tickets for UFC Boston go on sale?
No idea bro, sorry.
JA, give me some love, 3 straight weeks of unanswered questions...it was mentioned in here last week and confirmed the next day that T-Wood would "headline" the 5/21 SF:Challengers show...what do you know about Nathan Coy? Is he just another 'can' being given to Woodley? When is he going to get moved up to the "big show?". Thanks!
I don't know anything about Nathan Coy. But I'm being told he has wins over UFC fighters Mike Pierce and Rick Story. So it seems to be a step-up in competition, albeit not a huge one. Just glad Woodley is fighting again, and soon.
Do you mind being called Anik?
I was never called 'Anik' growing up b/c I had a twin brother. But ever since college, that's what I've been called. I respond to just about anything. But my favorite is 'Chost'.
I thought Edgar definitely deserved the decision, Penn may have landed better punches but Edgar was so much more active, it seemed like Penn wasn't puching the action at all, Edgar controlled the pace for the whole fight.
Definitely a huge discrepancy in activity. Edgar pushed the pace for most of the 25 minutes and deserved to win. Also, as soon as the first score was revealed as '50-45', Edgar immediately said 'it's gotta be me' before his name was announced. He knew there was no way he could've lost all five rounds.
MMA Live is the best show not on TV! Yet. I mean that as a compliment.
Thanks, Ken. Really appreciate our loyal regulars like you. And thanks for chatting as well!
What's the latest for Big Country?
He fought less than three weeks ago, so nothing yet. Hoping to get Roy Nelson to Bristol at some point to show off his comedy. I'd like to see him fight Frank Mir next.
No only Cowherd is 'Chost'
Did he really swipe that from me? He's a stick. Chost stands for chubby host.
Don't you mean *HUGE* Country?
Yes, Huge Country. Roy said he didn't mind the new nickname when we spoke at World MMA Awards. I gotta get back in the habit.
How much of an effect do you think the takedown(s) had on the judges scoring in the Penn v Edgar fight? I don't think takedowns should count for much if the fighter doesnt do anything with it or if the opponent gets right back to their feet.
I agree, Matt. I don't think a takedown should score points if the guy gets up right away. I think the judges were most swayed by the damage. Penn clearly looked to be the more beat-up of the two fighters.
I hate big fat country, he would get wooped by an elite HW
I think you are selling him short, Hayden. He's held his own against a lot of top guys in the past.
Hey Jon, big fan of your work!!!! Don't you think D. White should be held more at fault for Silva's antics? Why did he pick Maia who is similar to Leites? He should've picked a competitive fight against Marquardt or at L-HW w/ T. Silva.
The UFC is partially to blame, but they were in a tough position. The middleweight title hadn't been on the line in a year. Belfort and Sonnen were unavailable. They need to challenge Silva in order to get spectacular results, but they also can't have the belt sit idle for a full calendar year. As stated previously, they are in a tough spot.
Hey Jon have you seen the video on youtube of Frankie Edgar's buddies watching the decision? its a good one
No. Thanks for the heads-up. Will have to check that out. Feel free to send the link to firstname.lastname@example.org, if you'd be so kind!
Will we still be able to access MMA Live on espn.com (when it moves to ESPN 2)?
Yes. And the show on espn.com will be longer than the one on ESPN2. That's the plan right now.
I don't understand why they matched up Rich and Chuck. It seems like a pointless fight, it's not a rivalry, its not a rubber match, neither one stands a chance at the winner of Rua Machida. So why put them against each other?
It's not ideal and the UFC recognizes that. Obviously something happened with Ortiz that will prevent him from fighting. The fight is being made out of necessity. Thankfully for the great fight fans in Vancouver, there are a ton of good storylines elsewhere on the main card.
Silva Vs Mir and at 235 Catchweight??????
Well, it may not happen at a catchweight, especially with Mir's recently added bulk. But you could see Silva vs. Mir. Wouldn't rule it out.
Jon you inspire me. Who would you like to see Jon Jones fight next?
Thanks, Travis. I want to see him fight Anderson Silva, but I understand that is a bit unrealistic. Perhaps he gets the loser of Rampage-Rashad or Machida-Rua. I don't think he needs to be nursed along. I think he's more than good enough and ready to face the top guys.
Hey Jon, where would you draft Tim Tebow?
I wouldn't. But that's just me. Just don't see him as a long-term solution as an NFL quarterback.
thought twitter was stupid then saw a link to dana whites coments on yahoo. I think I need to join now
Twitter is great and such a powerful medium. Oftentimes I will go on Twitter before even scanning the MMA websites. It's one-stop shopping. You can follow me at (Jon_Anik), if you like.
With Franklin fighting Liddell who does Couture now get.
Perhaps James Toney. I don't know.
Maybe Franklin just wants to put a bunch of legends on his resume and make some money in the process. Henderson, Silva, Belfort and now Liddell. Certainly the only person to fight those 4 big names.
I still think Franklin isn't thrilled with the fight. It is largely circumstantial, and he's definitely being compensated. But he's only gonna fight for 2-3 more years, and I know he has aspirations of one more title run. Fighting Chuck doesn't get him anywhere near the title.
Is Phil Davis the biggest 205 you have ever seen?
I haven't seen him in person.
Jon Jones posted on his twitter that he weighs 225 lbs with 6% BF. I see him being a 250 lbs 6% BF HW in 2-3 years. thoughts?
I still think Jones will find the most success at 205. And his frame looks conducive to making weight at 205 now, and in the future. But a lot of folks are like you, Cody, and think he will eventually move up to heavyweight.
Any chance that Vitor Belfort gets the next shot at the MW belt or is Chael Sonnen next up?
Sonnen told MMA Live he has been assured of the next title shot. But that's not in writing. I still think Belfort is healing, and expect Sonnen's name to be called next.
Who gets drafted first, Jon Jones's brother or Tim Tebow?
Great question! Arthur Jones will hear his name called before Tebow.
Chost - long time no chat. Why does Dana let go fighters like Huerta and Hendo, who are willing to fight away from their strengths to make an exciting fight and keep guys like GSP and Silva. I know they are the champs, but lets be honest, no other promotion can afford them...
What's up, D-Rube? Good to hear from ya. The UFC has a ceiling on each fighter in terms of what they are willing to pay. I would've liked to see them take care of Hendo, because you can make a ton of big fights with that guy. As for Huerta, I don't believe he is a Top 10 lightweight, and clearly neither does the UFC. Exciting? Absolutely. But is he elite? TBD. We'll know if and when he fights Eddie Alvarez.
In your expert opinion.. Does Hendo go straight for the takedown to ensure he gets top position? Or does he try to use his advantage standing and risk getting spilled onto his back, which i believe is the only danger for him against jake.
I think you're more of an expert than me, Bradley. I think Hendo is gonna box as long as he can.
Does Vitor really deserve a shot at the belt? The UFC should rethink giving a shot to someone who hasn't even fought at that weight in their company.
I would prefer to see Sonnen vs. Silva. But most fans and media believe Belfort is the middleweight best-equipped to beat Silva, and Vitor is clearly elite. So I understand why the UFC would give him a title shot.
will there be a "Primetime" series for Rampage/Rashad? 6 or 7 weeks out and still no word...
They had agreed to do one for their fight when it was originally scheduled for UFC 112. So, it's my expectation that they'll roll out the cameras. It's too compelling not to.
JA. Not sure if its been covered today, but are you buying BJ's "sinus problem" excuse?
He's not making that excuse. His trainer pointed it out, but Penn wouldn't take the bait when I interviewed him yesterday. You can see the whole interview tomorrow on MMA Live. I will say that Penn was uncharacteristically passive, and perhaps the illness contributed to that.
jon how long have you been hosting mma live?
Since the beginning! We started in May of 2008 and did our 100th episode last week. I've done 99 of them.
how's Kenny's recovery coming?
Still in the hospital at last check, but he's in good spirits and cracking jokes.
Hey Chost! Just got a minute to slip away from work. Is there ANY chance Fedor will ever step away from M-1 long enough to fight some top talent at HW? I know he's part owner but I'd like to think he recognizes the utter lack of overall talent outside the UFC. Seems like too competitive a guy to just coast out the rest of his career...
Hey Gary! I agree that the best heavyweights reside in the UFC, and we'd all like to see Fedor face the likes of Lesnar, Carwin, Velasquez, Dos Santos and Mir. But it's not as though he's fighting chumps. Brett Rogers and Andrei Arlovski are good fighters.
I was wondering if you knew how much a full leg cast is going to cost?
Shogun vs. Anderson Silva would you buy it?????????
Sure, why not?
Since beating BJ Penn , Edgar has jumped into the top ten best P4P fighters mix. Do you really think he is that elite?
No, I don't. But he's proven me wrong a lot.
This is the perfect time to have Anderson vacate the belt and let Belfort and Sonnen fight for it. We can't be subjected to more of AS at 185.
Have you seen E1 of Mosley-Mayweather 24/7? Epic stuff. Money May is hilarious. The only thing I could see topping this is Rampage - Rashad primtime.
Mayweather is hysterical. I have it on DVR and will hopefully get a chance to watch it tomorrow. Very excited to head to Vegas for the fight. I'm leaving right after MMA Live taping on April 29th. Cannot wait.
Arlovski?? Isnt he a UFC throw away because he was washed up?
The UFC did cut him and he's certainly seen better days. But when Fedor fought him, he had won five in a row. And he also won 9 of his last 10 in the UFC before being let go.
I don't see Aoki submitting Melendez especially with Melendez training with the Diaz brothers in submission defense. What you think?
It's a fair point and one that was brought up earlier in the chat. I just don't think any fighter can truly replicate Aoki's jiu-jitsu.
Have you caught any of TUF this season? I feel its been much more entertaining than the seasons since Forrest-Rampage
I've watched the first two episodes and am entertained. Really like the mix of fighters. I think there are 3-4 guys that could stick around after the show and have long careers. I know it's early, but I like what I see.
Anderson vs Wanderlei
Is Wanderlei updating his will before the fight? Two guys at totally different stages of their careers. I think that would be trouble for the Axe Murderer.
What hospital im gonna make this bigger than when Bruschi left after the stroke
Hahahahaha. That is awesome. I don't know what hospital he is at. Try him on Twitter.
Who would you favor in Silva v Jones? (I think Jones could get him down and hurt him)
I still favor Anderson Silva to beat every non-heavyweight in the world. But Jon Jones would definitely have a good shot. He can neutralize a lot of the Spider's strengths.
Chost, any word on the recovery time for "Rumble" and when his next fight will be? Still "Doomsday"?
That fight with Howard just has to happen. Short guy vs. tall guy. They might knock each other out simultaneously. Don't have any update on Rumble's knee. But oftentimes no news can be good news.
Aldo vs. Faber? Faber bit off more than he can chew?
Don't underestimate Faber. Aldo looks unbeatable right now, but Faber is an extremely tough out. He knows what it takes to be a world champion, and I am expecting a very competitive fight. There is no doubting Faber's toughness.
So is Nate Diaz moving back to 155 for his next fight? He looked real good at 170.
I think he will stay put at 170 for now.
I missed it -- why isn't Chuck fighting Tito?
We haven't really been given a reason yet. But Franklin replaces Ortiz at some point during this season of The Ultimate Fighter. And the UFC has already announced the Liddell-Franklin fight for UFC 115.
how late ya staying today? Gotta get ready for Sherdog Radio, right?
Hahaha. Yes. Excited to talk with the Sherdog guys. Last call for questions. Will take 2-3 more.
Can you imagine what Dan Henderson would have done to Silva if he tried that clowning stuff against him?
That's a good point. Hendo probably would've charged at him, and maybe gotten knocked out for doing so. But you're right that Hendo would never just sit back and take the hazing. Maia really showed his toughness, but he's gotta still be fuming today.
what do you listen to when you workout?
A wide range of stuff. Mostly hip-hop, but some dance music as well. I listen to a lot of fighter walkout songs as well.
After this WEC PPV, do you think we'll see UFC/WEC cross-promotional events instead of a merger?
Hi Jarrett. I think cross-promoting is much more likely than a merger at this point.
If I drop your name at Bellator tomorrow, will they put me ringside?
Hahahaha. I doubt it, but it's DEFINITELY worth a try. Tell them Anik sent you and maybe you'll get an upgrade. Have fun at the show.
If I offer you a crisp five dollar bill, will we have MMA live come out here for the SF: Challengers show? What if I offer ten bucks?
I wish my friend. Doesn't look like it's in the budget, unfortunately. I do hope to have more of a presence at MMA shows going forward.
Hahahaha. Shields is a huge underdog, according to Las Vegas. But as this chat continues, I'm starting to think he might pull it off.
Who would you like to see Matt Hughes fight next?
His wife. I think he and Renzo are both done.
Jon, the judging process for MMA - NEEDS TO BE REVISITED. Does anyone question that the best seat to see a fight is the one that is in front of a TV? Why do judges sit cageside?
Interesting point. Having sat cageside for Bellator, I agree that it's not always the best vantage point. Perhaps adding two more judges would decrease the margin for error. But as long as the human element is still a part of it, it won't be perfect. I've suggested you have a doctor assess damage at the end of the fight, and somehow account for it. Maynard looked like he went through a meat grinder after the Diaz fight.
In an ideal world , the UFC will come to ESPN and Jon Anik will be the "Chris Berman" of MMA!!
Thanks, Bobby. Wouldn't be too bad.
Does Shogun claim the LHW title and face Rampage again?
I think Machida will outclass Rua in the rematch at UFC 113.
I think you should get a MMA judge to come onto MMA Live. Have them explain how/why the judge a fight a certain way.
It's a good idea, and one that has been suggested before. But the problem is that judges all see what they see and score things differently. Doesn't seem to be any consistency, so I'm not sure having one judge on the show would accomplish anything.
J-Chost, When is Portland's next big time MMA show?
I believe the Strikeforce Challengers show will be there on May 21st.
For some reason I'd love to see Hughes fight Jon Fitch. Hughes would get to know what it was like to fight himself in his hey days.
That's a good point. Just not sure the fight would even be competitive enough to put on.
Any big guests planned for the first show on ESPN2???
I'm sure we will stack the deck. I can tell you we've got three big guests tomorrow on MMA Live: B.J. Penn, Dan Henderson, and Gegard Mousasi.
How long before we see Nick Diaz back in the UFC?
Your guess is as good as mine, Erik. He's currently a Strikeforce champion and he's under contract. So don't hold your breath.
True or False. The UFC makes it to Milwaukee for a Fight Night by year's end
True! And not just because that's what you want to hear. 2011 may be the safer bet...
Hey Jon, thanks for the chat. Do you think that Anderson Silva should be stripped of the belt for what he did and move up to light heavyweight. Thanks again
My pleasure, Greg. I don't believe his actions warrant a stripping of the belt. But I think it's time (or almost time) to vacate the belt and move up to 205 w/ finality.
Buy or Sell: Spider's next fight is at LHW.
Sell. I think they'll give Chael Sonnen one chance to back up the talk. And if Silva dominants, he will then move up to 205. But I am intrigued by Sonnen-Silva. The question is whether or not the UFC is intrigued.
I'm moving to Virginia. Any MMA shows ever come through there?
Absolutely. The UFC was there in January, and I think Bellator may be there at some point this year.
I appreciate how BJ Penn has been gracious in his defeat. He hasn't gone into hiding or isn't taking anything away from Edgar. I applaud him for that.
Who do you want to see Hardy fight next outside of Kos?
WOW.. awesome line up, I'll be tuning in for sure.
by 2-3, you meant 50... right?
It's looking that way! But seriously, two more before I lose my job.
UFC should make Silva fight 2 times in one night. that would keep him focused.
Hahahahahaha. That's the best solution I've heard!
I think BJ is being gracious because he knows what Frankie is in for the next time out.
2-3 questions 15 questions ago!! Chost, you are nothing if not predictible
Nate! Thought you had taken this week off. It's been busy in here today. Over 1,200 questions.
WEC had a successful card in Albuquerque a few years back. ABQ is a hotbed of MMA fighting, do you think any chance of a major promotion coming back to the Duke City?
I'm not sure why they haven't been back, or why other major promotion haven't gone there. I believe Bellator was trying to get there during Season 1, but it never materialized.
Who would you pick in a BJ/Edgar rematch?
What happened to the MMA Live Pick em?
That's above my pay grade. Not sure why it wasn't offered for UFC 112. But I can guarantee you it will be back at some point.
Buy or Sell: UFC end of year is in Cowboys Stadium.
Could depend on the Cowboys home schedule. I will buy that there is card there in 2010. But I will sell that it's the year-end show.
Hey Jon, thanks again for answering my question earlier. Who do you think will win between King Mo and Moussasi?
Mousasi, but I won't be nearly as surprised as some others if King Mo takes the belt.
Im always here even if im not posting buddy
Appreciate it, dude.
Chael is going to get dropped in the first if he gets in there with the spider.
You are on the record.
Jon, something that's been under the radar with Jake Shields. Isn't he fighting at 185, in part, to AVOID his buddy Nick Diaz?He moved to 182 for Lawler right? I mean, he should be THANKING SF for not putting him in that precarious situation of fighting a close friend/training partner. Instead, there's all this talk about how he's fighting out of his weight class.

Before it's over... Great chat Chost, and good luck with tomorrow's show.
Thanks, Adam. It's hard for me to pull away when questions keep coming in. But I gotta bounce. Remember, interviews with Hendo, Mousasi and B.J. Penn tomorrow on the Live. And if I didn't get to your question, try email@example.com or Twitter (Jon_Anik). Until next week, enjoy the fights on CBS. And don't text and drive, if you can help it. -JA
