Ohm
  (4:00 PM)

Hey everybody! Thanks for joining my live chat and submitting questions. I will do my best to answer as many as I can get to.

Zach Lawrence (Katonah, NY)

Where do you see the Giants focusing their draft selections in rounds two and three Friday? Any specific players you see them selecting?

Ohm
  (4:03 PM)

I think it depends on what the Giants do at 15. But I think the Giants still can go middle linebacker in the second round. Penn State linebacker Sean Lee is a guy to keep an eye on. His teammate Navorro Bowman has been mentioned as well with the Giants. Also Florida LB Brandon Spikes. It will also be interesting to see where Missouri LB Sean Weatherspoon goes but he is expected to be gone by the second round.

Tony (NEW YORKK!)

Ohm, pleassee tell me we aren't seriously going to draft an offensive lineman with the number 15 over all pick!! The g-men have bigger holes to fill obviously on defense.. What are the other possibilites(OTHER then IUPOTI) now that its looking that mcclain is gunna b gone??

Ohm
  (4:05 PM)

Tony, From what I am hearing, the Giants want Alabama LB Rolando McClain. If he is gone, they will look at defense with guys like South Florida DE Jason Pierre-Paul and even a corner like Florida's Joe Haden in the mix. But Rutgers T Anthony Davis is a guy on the Giants' radar. I hear they like Idaho's Mike Iupati but they may like Davis more.

Aaron (London)

Do you have any idea what kind of defense Perry Fewell might run this season? I know that his secondary is known to do well, but is there anything else you can say about his past defenses?

Ohm
  (4:07 PM)

Number one, the players seem to like Fewell a lot more than the Bill Sheridan which is important. The players did not like Sheridan and didn't respect him by the end of the season and didn't buy into the concept. One thing I keep hearing about Fewell is how he is willing to listen to the players and while he is known for his secondary, it is believed he will allow his guys to blitz and get pressure on the quarterback and that bodes well for guys like Osi Umenyiora, Mathias Kiwanuka and Justin Tuck.

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

Do you think that the New Meadowlands Stadium would be better tham Giants Stadium?

Ohm
  (4:09 PM)

Chris,I'm a big believer in new stadiums and how it can get home teams to play better initially. I know people always said that the old Meadowlands provided a home-field advantage with the wind but I always felt it hurt the Giants as well. I think the wind will be somewhat similar, maybe just a little different, but not completely sure, at the new stadium. But you know the Giants will be amped up for that home opener for Carolina. And they will need the added emotion.

Randy (Staten Island)

In your Giants schedule, where you talk about the Giants getting a early test..you talk like the Giants won't be getting a MLB by the time the season comes..rather that's Ronaldo McClain or if it's Sean Weatherspoon or if we get Kirk Morrison, which only costs a 3rd round tender.

Ohm
  (4:11 PM)

Hey Randy,I actually wrote that with having a middle linebacker like McClain or Lee in mind. Think about it... having a rookie middle linebacker in there to go up against Peyton Manning? It's going to take time for a rookie or even one of the guys they have now on the roster to learn that position and play it well and know all the tendencies of the opposing quarterback. No matter how you slice it, Antonio Pierce was a smart linebacker and the Giants are going to miss that initially.

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

Do you think that Alabama LB Rolando McClain will be selected by the New York Giants in the 2010 NFL Draft?

Ohm
  (4:12 PM)

Chris,I think McClain is definitely their guy. But will he be there at 15? Will the Giants have to trade up to get him? I think starting at 10 with the Jags, things could start moving and it will be curious to see what the Jags will do and then the Broncos? The Giants may need to move up to get McClain.

dick smallberries jr (dc)

you have a very strange name.

Ohm
  (4:13 PM)

DSJ,It's a Thai thing homeboy... LOL.

john (new york )

if rolando mcclain is gone by 15 who do you think is a more realistic pick for the giants

Ohm
  (4:15 PM)

John,From what I am hearing, the Giants want McClain and then DE Jason Pierre-Paul. After that, they are still leaning hard on defense and a guy like Florida cornerback Joe Haden is a possibility. Even guys like Tennessee DT Dan Williams, Georgia Tech DE Derrick Morgan are possibilities if they are there at 15 but those guys are expected to be gone. Offensively, I think they like Rutgers T Anthony Davis.

DJ (Oklahoma)

Do you really think if Rolando Mclain is on the board that Jerry Reese would really pass him up for the best on the board instead of filling the MLB position with someone in mclain who can become the heart and soul of our D like peirce was? or you think he is just being secretive about it

Ohm
  (4:16 PM)

DJ,I believe Jerry will take McClain. Remember last year. He needed a wide receiver. He took Hakeem Nicks in the first round and Ramses Barden in the second.

chris b (austin, tx)

whats goin on with osi? i think it would be stupid to get rid of osi, and replace him with pierre-paul. JPP only has one year of ncaa experience, at a second tier school.also what are the chances of trading up to get cj spiller?

Ohm
  (4:17 PM)

Chris B,I agree with you homey. Keeping Osi makes sense. Still under contract at a reasonable rate. In the second year coming back from surgery, could return to form this season. Say what you want about him being emotional and whatever you think of him as a run-stopper but he is a proven pass rusher. None of these incoming rookies can say that.

Joey (Staten Island)

Hi Ohm good work on espnny! Will the Giants o-line return to form this year? It was a major force in their run to the SuperBowl and they need that to be a strength again. Was last year just a fluke or a deeper issue?

Ohm
  (4:19 PM)

Joey,Thanks J for reading and appreciate the kind words. I'd like to think the Giants offensive line will return to form. I know they were banged up last year and they are a year older. But the running backs were banged up as well. Ahmad Bradshaw was running on two broken feet basically and Brandon Jacobs was banged up as well. Both are expected to be healthy this season and that could make a big difference. The Giants could look to add another offensive lineman in the draft though.

Nick (NYC)

It's obvious the Gmen are hoping Rolando McClain falls to them at 15 but realistically, that's not going to happen. If the Giants believe McClain is the answer at middle linebacker, I think it would be worth trading up to say 10 (though the Crabtree situation from last year makes the 10th pick more complicated) or 11 (Denver would be crazy not to draft him) to get him. Is there any chance that Jerry Reese will man up and proactively go get him, or will the Giants just stand pat no matter what and go with whoever is the best available (Iupati, JPP or CJ Spiller)?

Ohm
  (4:21 PM)

Nick,Calling out my man Jerry Reese and telling him to man up! Nice. I think you are right. Sounds like McClain will be gone by 15 and if Reese really wants him, they are going to have to go get him. If they stand pat, I expect Pierre-Paul to be the guy they take if he is there. Spiller should be gone. Iupati, I hear they like him but will want to go defense instead. But who knows right? Things change drastically on draft night.

Tom (Ann Arbor,MI)

Please dont tell me that there is even a remote chance the Giants use the first pick on CJ Spiller?

Ohm
  (4:22 PM)

Tom,I'm being nice answering your question since you are from Ann Arbor and I'm a diehard Spartan. Just playing. I think Spiller is a terrific talent and if he were to somehow fall, the Giants have to take a long hard look at him. Who knows how Jacobs and Bradshaw will be coming off surgery. Spiller is supposed to be the best playmaker in the draft. But my understanding is the Giants are leaning heavily toward defense. Go Green!

Aesa (Saratoga, NY)

Do you think we will see Ramses Barden on the field early in the season? Any chance he can become an impact player for Coach Coughlin to utilize in green zone situations?

Ohm
  (4:24 PM)

Aesa,I think the Giants need to see what Barden has to offer this season. They took a chance on him in the draft and if he doesn't emerge out of camp with at least some kind of role in the red zone as a big target, it will be disappointing. He is an extremely big target and Eli certainly can use that.

Ohm
  (4:25 PM)

Frank,Impact... I don't know. There are so many question marks. Jerry Reese was really talking about how so many guys need to step up, specifically Clint Sintim. Even if the Giants take McClain, it's going to be hard for a rookie to step right in and make an impact. That is why I think the Giants will have trouble at times this season with an inexperienced middle linebacker.

Frank (Hoboken, NJ)

Hey Ohm, great work on espnny.com so far. There has been a lot of talk about getting McLain to replace Pierce, but how important is it that we get him? Blackburn and a few other of our young LBs saw some action last year, but does Couglin and Reese have enough confidence in any of them to step in next year?

Ohm
  (4:28 PM)

Frank,Thanks so much! I think I just answered your question earlier but the players have confidence in Blackburn with his knowledge of the NFC East and getting guys lined up in the right spots. But Coughlin is going to need these linebackers to step up big. Take the middle linebacker thing out of the equation for a second but I am looking forward to seeing how Boley does this season.

Matt (New York)

Do you think CJ Spiller is high on the giants radar?

Ohm
  (4:28 PM)

Matt,I think he is on their radar. But not likely to be there at 15 and the Giants are going to be looking at defense.

Rob (Bellmore)

Do the Giants stay at 15 and get the best player available or move into the top 10 for Mclain or Spiller?

Ohm
  (4:30 PM)

Hey Rob. I think the Giants will probably stay at 15. But I think they really really like McClain and I believe they don't think he will be there at 15 so...

David (Oklahoma)

I am just curious about your thoughts on our schedule and the importance of winning the first 4 or 5 like last year knowing how tough the last 6 weeks will be

Ohm
  (4:31 PM)

David,I agree with you. The first part of the schedule is extremely important. I think the Giants need to go into that Dallas game at 5-1 or 4-2 considering how tough the schedule gets at the end. But as we know from last year, a quick start guarantees nothing.

Joe (Flushing)

What do you think is a bigger need for the Giants; running back or cornerback? And is there anyone the Giants might be targeting at those positions?

Ohm
  (4:33 PM)

Joe,I think cornerback is a bigger need than running back. I know we have been talking about Spiller but I think Joe Haden would be great for the Giants if McClain and Pierre-Paul are gone. I know Aaron Ross is expected to be healthy and there's Corey Webster and Terrell Thomas but another corner would really bolster the secondary and with the addition of Antrel Rolle, Perry Fewell would have pieces to work with.

Mike (NY)

Ohm..Giants have any interest in Dan Williams if he falls to 15? Haven't heard his name associated with the Giants much.

Ohm
  (4:33 PM)

Mike,I am hearing that Williams is on the Giants' radar. Problem is, he is probably going to be gone by then.

Matt B (West Windsor, NJ)

Hi Ohm, I keep reading that if McClain is off the board at 15, and Spiller is there, there is a good chance the Giants will take Spiller. I may be in the minority, but I think the Giants should take a linemen, considering the age of O'Hara and Seubert. The Giants have had the ability to find running backs anywhere, most recently grabbing Jacobs in round four, Bradshaw in round seven, and signing Ward who went undrafted. Considering running backs usually only last 3-4 years in this league, and you can find them throughout the draft, shouldn't the Giants find some youth in the interior of their aging offensive line?

Ohm
  (4:35 PM)

Matt, I think with Spiller, he could be a very special talent that is hard to pass up on. But the Giants' need to get younger and deeper at offensive line is definitely something to think about and I am sure Jerry Reese is thinking that too. I think that is why they have some interest in Rutgers' Anthony Davis.

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

Do you think that Alabama LB Rolando McClain will be selected by the New York Giants?

Ohm
  (4:35 PM)

If he is there at 15, yes. And if the Giants move up, yes.

Conrad (New York)

Do u think there is a possibility that the Jets might trade up?

Ohm
  (4:36 PM)

Conrad,I know this is a Giants live chat but I'll let a Jets question slip through. With trader Mike, anything is possible no matter what he says publicly.

Deuce (Syracuse NY)

If the Giants trade down who would they be hoping will slip to them lower in the first round?

Ohm
  (4:37 PM)

My guess is they would still be going with defense and maybe take a linebacker and address offensive line if they traded down for more picks. My guess is they stay at 15 or trade up.

Deuce (Syracuse NY)

If Earl Thomas is there at 15, do the Giants pick him as he most likely will be the best player available?

Ohm
  (4:37 PM)

Deuce,Reese says he will consider the best possible player over a need player. But I'm hearing McClain is their guy if he is there.

Ryan Burke (New York, NY)

Who should the ginats draft in mcclain is gone at 15?

Ohm
  (4:38 PM)

Ryan,Sounds like it's going to be Jason Pierre-Paul.

Rigidy (Hartford)

If the Giants grab a linebacker in the first round, do you see them going after Akwasi Owusu-Ansah in the second?

Ohm
  (4:40 PM)

Rigidy,It's been reported that he is a guy the Giants are interested in and it wouldn't surprise me one bit.

Aaron (London)

Figured I'd ask a second if you had the time- I've been hearing the Giants are looking at JPP in the first round, but almost everything I have read about him makes it sound like a really bad and dangerous first round pick. I know his physical attributes are really good, but so were Barden's, weren't they? He still went in the third- why is JPP being predicted so high?

Ohm
  (4:41 PM)

Aaron,You know at this time of the year how teams fall in love with guys who are off the charts with athleticism and talent. JPP though is supposed to be a really good talent. And you know the Giants' motto: You can never have enough pass rushers.

samer zaben (Queens, NY)

Do you see the giants dealing any of their current players like Osi Umenyora During tommorows draft, and if you do think so what round might we expect in in?

Ohm
  (4:42 PM)

Samer,Depends on what happens at 15 is my guess. If they get a pass rusher, the Giants have a whole night and day to think about dealing Osi and it depends on who is slipping into the second round. Perhaps a middle linebacker they really like will be there and they want to move up to get him.

Felipe Laurence (Brazil)

Do you think the Giants will trade down to stock picks if McClain, Spiller, JPP and others have gone or they will draft the best player avaible at 15?

Ohm
  (4:43 PM)

Felipe,I'm guessing they take the best player available at 15. But just a guess.

Ohm
  (4:43 PM)

Felipe,I'm guessing they take the best player available at 15. But just a guess.

thomas (ny)

what you think of antrel rolle?

Ohm
  (4:43 PM)

Thomas,I like Antrel a lot. It will be very interesting to see him beside Kenny Phillips, if he's healthy. And interesting to see what he will do with DC Perry Fewell.

Justin (tHE POCONOS)

Knowing the Giants and there streak of picking DE when everyone thinks they dont need them. I for one see them picking a DE with the first pick and then trading Osi , which i would hate to see happen but in the league these day's it's about what have you done for me latley. If it goes through , who in the 2nd round o you see the Giants picking up ( Linebacker wise).

Ohm
  (4:45 PM)

Justin,I think one of the Penn State linebackers, Sean Lee and Navorro Bowman, have been reportedly linked to the Giants. Florida's Brandon Spikes could be an option as well.

Bobby (LONG ISLAND)

Will the GMEN deal Osi Umenyiora on draft day? Man, I hope not. I dont feel it would be a wise decision.

Ohm
  (4:45 PM)

Bobby,We'll see. Very curious to see what happens at 15 and how it impacts Osi. If they don't get McClain, they must get a linebacker in the second round or third round.

Jimmy Frenchy (Metuchen, NJ)

Any word on Kenny Phillips' progress.. I think the Giants D will flurish with a healthy Phillips.. but not sure how far along he is??

Ohm
  (4:47 PM)

Jimmy,KP says he would play tomorrow if there was a game. According to him, the doctors say the schedule is on track and he will be ready come training camp. He could just go one practice a day and will take it slowly but he says he will be ready by the season opener. He just started running not too long ago.

Eunita S. (Maryland)

Do you think the Giants really would trade Osi Umenyiora, or is this story just media talk?

Ohm
  (4:48 PM)

Eunita,At this time of the year it's hard to figure things out. But I am curious to see what happens at 15 and how that will play out with Osi.

Justin (New Jersey)

Do you think there is any chance the Giants trade up to the number 11 spot for McClain?

Ohm
  (4:49 PM)

I think the Giants like McClain a lot and there's always a possibility.

Ryan (Germantown, MD)

Speaking of Osi, do you find the trade rumors to be as ridiculous as I do?

Ohm
  (4:49 PM)

Ridiculous... not really because nothing shocks me in the NFL with trades and what teams get back. McNabb was dealt in the division! So it doesn't shock me.

Mike (New Jersey)

Ohm, I miss you on DNL. Now I'm stuck listening to Benigno.

Ohm
  (4:51 PM)

Mike! Thanks dude. Appreciate it. But Joey B. is the man. Listen to the wise Benigno. But I appreciate the shout out. Alright guys, got to go write my Giants story for tomorrow.
