New York Jets TE Dustin Keller will be here at the top of the hour to take your questions!

Buzzmaster
  (1:52 PM)

Dustin is here. One more minute and we'll get started.

Ryan (New York,New York)

How many hours do players put in on arvrage week to prepare for a football game?

Dustin Keller
  (1:56 PM)

Well, you have to take into consideration that we're normally getting there at 6-6:30 in the morning and not leaving until 4 p.m. When we get home, we take at least an hour or two reviewing the material. So, 11-12 hours a day. But on the off days, in the NFL it's Tuesday, most guys have families. You might watch some film, but that's really a family day.

Ryan (LA)

Did you approach the Times or did the Times approach you about writing a food column?

Dustin Keller
  (1:57 PM)

I approached them. We were seeking out different opportunities to news outlet because it was something I wanted to do. The Times was at the top of our list and it was a go ahead.

Garrett (Richmond, VA)

What part of your game do you feel you've most improved since joining the Jets?

Dustin Keller
  (1:58 PM)

I think I've become a much more well rounded TE but the area that I have improved the most and needed to was my run blocking. When I first came into the NFL it was mostly pass blocking, but now that I've improved the defenses have to honor me in the run game.

Kyle (Chicago)

So, are you one of those snobby food writers, or can you appreciate a greasy burger joint?

Dustin Keller
  (1:58 PM)

I will eat any and everything. Obviously at the tail end of the offseason and the regular season, I keep it healthy, but please believe there will be a burger review coming.

Andrew (Middletown, NJ)

What kind of talk or activity happens in the huddles besides play calling?

Dustin Keller
  (2:00 PM)

Inbetween plays, when the actual play calls going on, everyone shuts up, but it's just like high school. If someone does something we laugh about it, and you might be talking some trash to a guy you know on the other team. I for one need everyone to shut up because I'm at the end of the huddle.

Andrew (PA)

Thoughts on overtime change in playoffs?

Dustin Keller
  (2:00 PM)

I think it's a step in the right direction. I still believe that the fate of a team should in no way be decided on a coin flip. If a team scores, the other should be given the chance to do the same.

Eric (VA)

hey Dustin. What's it like working under Rex Ryan? I like the guys' motivation. The Jets weren't favored to make the playoffs last year...but Rex said it would happen, and guess what. It did. You guys must feel confident when the 2010 season rolls around, am I right?

Dustin Keller
  (2:01 PM)

You couldn't possibly ask for a better coach than Rex Ryan. He's just so motivated and nothing is more important than winning. Obviuosly, he cares about the well being of his players, but winning is No. 1. And if you don't care about winning, you have no business on this team.

natedog2286 (lafayette, indiana)

what was your biggest game in high school and if you werent doing football, what would your other proffesion be?

Dustin Keller
  (2:02 PM)

In a perfect world, I would be playing basketball, but if I weren't playing professional sports at all, I would try to get more involved in this food critic business. Getting paid to give your opinion on someone else's food is pretty good.

Michael (Michigan)

You guys are a Super Bowl contender, what do you think of that?

Dustin Keller
  (2:03 PM)

I think that's a label that we are striving for and trying to surpass. By the playoff time and when the season comes, we don't want people to think of us a contenders, but we want people to think of us as possible winners. We want to get our respect and earn it throughout the season.

IAN (ny)

Wat up dustin. Are you going to try to be part of the recruiting process to get lebron james to come play for n.y.?

Dustin Keller
  (2:04 PM)

I don't think I will take part in that recruiting process, unless the Knicks approach me. I love going to the Knicks games. Regardless of the outcome, the fans are always great. Unless they approach me, I will not bother LeBron with any added stress.

Walter (NY, NY)

Hey Dustin, big fan. I am a season ticketholder and I am looking forward to this season. Does it seem like there is more talent on this team than the past two seasons that you have been with the Jets?

Dustin Keller
  (2:06 PM)

Without a doubt. We had as talented a team as there was in the NFL last year and I think we really outdid ourselves this year. To be a final four team and still get some of the best talent out on the market, I think we did a good job. I think you could say that we have the most talented team in the NFL. With that is added pressure to win a lot of games.

Dustin Keller
  (2:06 PM)

We're ready for the challenge.

Eric (VA)

Do you know much about this guy Kyle Wilson out of Boise State? I don't know much of him...but could he possibly give to the Jets what Darrelle Revis did last season?

Dustin Keller
  (2:07 PM)

Nice to talk to you again Eric. I don't think there's very many people in the history of the game at CB to have the effect on a game as Revis. But so far through OTAs he has done well. He just adds more depth to one of the best if not hte best secondaries in the NFL.

Andrew (PA)

How do you feel about training in Cortland,NY and do you like the interaction with the fans there?

Dustin Keller
  (2:08 PM)

at first when we were told to go to Cortland, my first year we spent at Hofstra. There was more to do at Hofstra, with the city close by. When we moved upstate to Cortland, all we had was our teammates. It brings us together more as a family. I think that's an excellent place for our training camp.

What do you think the greatest experience Playing in new york you've had?

Dustin Keller
  (2:09 PM)

The greatest experience, I can't just name one. Coming in as a rookie and getting to catch passes from a sure hall of famer in Brett Favre was a huge plus. But getting drafted by an organization that focuses on winning is great. I can say that there is no organization I would rather play for.

Frank

what's the next one about?

Dustin Keller
  (2:10 PM)

I'm up for suggestions. Right now, we don't have anything set in stone, but there are a ton of possibilities. You guys let me know. I'll let you guys choose the next one.

Brian (San Diego, CA)

What other food related stuff is involved in I Eight One besides the column in the NYT? Do you do any fan related stuff with it on facebook or twitter?

Dustin Keller
  (2:12 PM)

On Facebook, my website is DustinKeller81. We're planning on doing something in the future with the I Eight One Tailgate Tour. I also want to see everyone at the tours wearing their I Eight One aprons. Also, I promote all of it on Twitter: @DustinKeller81.

And you can buy all the merchandise at IEightOne.com.

Andrew (PA)

Huge Fan plus your my wife's favorite player-My question is, do you think there is a chance for you to be Mark's go to guy and rack up 60 catches this year?

Dustin Keller
  (2:14 PM)

I think I'm definitely capable. I would love to have that role. I think Mark has the confidence in me to have that role. And I think he has the confidence in Holmes, Edwards and Cotchery, the most underrated WR in the game.

Dustin Keller
  (2:14 PM)

I appreciate everyone. Check me out on IEightOne.com.
