Hey Guys, thanks for stopping by. Just got done writing a Super Bowl story - yet another one - so let's get this thing started!

Duffy (NYC, FiDi)

Great, just what New York City needs, more tourists. All this will do is clog up the subways, taxi's and busses even more than they already are because all those crazy football fans won't want to miss this "historic game". So it's played outside, in the cold. Who cares? I just don't get the hype. These players get paid millions upon millions of dollars to play the game regardless of the circumstances and I think by glorifying the weather conditions to sell tickets is just cheapening the game. Superbowls should be played in the stadium of one of the competing teams, to be determined either randomly or statistically.

Ohm
  (3:05 PM)

Duffy,Well, personally, I think it is a week of inconvenience to see how a Super Bowl I will be very curious about plays out... I like the fact that the Super Bowl will be played outdoors in the cold for once. It is something different. You are definitely right, players get paid millions to do it no matter what. So what's the big deal playing it here?As for the whole playing it in a stadium of one of the competing teams, I like it on a neutral site or I guess one that is supposed to be neutral unless one of the home teams make it. You can't determine it randomly because it takes years and years to plan a Super Bowl.

Pat [via mobile]

JPP... Tell me the Giants didn't spend a 1st round pick just to motivate Osi. I assume they really like this guy, but he will have to be a second-stringer with Tuck, Kiwi, and Osi ahead of him at the DE spots, right?

Ohm
  (3:07 PM)

Pat,I think in drafting JPP, the Giants drafted insurance in case the Osi situation blows up - which I don't think it will - and in case Mathias Kiwanuka leaves next year after his contract is up. They have another pass rusher to groom and they don't mind that this season he plays behind their big three pass rushers and grows. Of course, I sense you rather they had used their first round pick on a middle linebacker or offensive lineman perhaps? Regardless, outside of having gotten Rolando McClain, I don't see a rookie coming in at #15 and starting right away and having a MAJOR impact.

Shenanigans (Ft. Lauderdale, FL)

Do you think the Gmen's o-line is too old to perform at a high level and do you think Beatty can step up and be an effective starter this year?

Ohm
  (3:08 PM)

Shenanigans,We will certainly find out this year if last year was a fluke or a sign of that line getting ancient. Jerry Reese has said Beatty will definitely get the chance to compete and OC Kevin Gilbride talked about Beatty and fifth-round pick Mitch Petrus getting a chance to provide much-needed youth. The Giants definitely need to start getting younger there.

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

What do you think of Super Bowl XLVIII to be played at Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford,NJ?

Ohm
  (3:09 PM)

CF,I love it. I think it is something different than the norm and from a sports writer's perspective... of course I rather have it somewhere warm as a reward of going through an entire season in cold stadium's and what not. But the fact that it will be in NY is something different. And the parties should be off the hook. Puffy better throw a good one!

Andrew (PA)

Just got done at Dustin Keller's chat earlier, where do you think he fits in the discussion of top TE's?

Ohm
  (3:11 PM)

Andrew,Our first Jets question... I love my man Dustin Keller. I think he SHOULD definitely be a bigger part of the passing attack and I always scratched my head wondering why he wasn't last season, especially with a rookie quarterback. But this year, I wonder how many balls will go his way with Santonio Holmes, Braylon Edwards and now Jerricho at potential slot WR.... too many weapons for Sanchez and only one ball to throw. Keller has all the tools, though, to be an elite TE once he improves on his blocking.

Steve C (NJ)

Has there been any word on Revis, Mangold, Ellis, Ferguson, and Harris contract talks and do you think any of them are going to hold out during training camp.

Ohm
  (3:17 PM)

Stevie,Revis said on Tuesday at the Super Bid party in Times Square that he is still reading over the latest proposal offered by the Jets. He still says he has been told by the Jets they will get it done by training camp and that they want to make him the highest paid corner in the league. When asked if he would hold out if it is not done by camp, Revis said he won't think about that unless it happens. As for the other guys, I think it's been reported that Ellis probably won't be extended. My guess is the Jets will do their best to lock up Mangold, Harris and D'Brick...

mike (brooklyn)

hows the linebacker situation working out as of now?

Ohm
  (3:18 PM)

Well, it is way too early to tell. But from the little we saw at OTA last Friday, Jonathan Goff was working with the first team with Boley on his right and Sintim on his left. Dillard worked with the second team at MLB if I recall correctly. Tom Coughlin says it's just May and to not get carried away and that it will be a rotation of guys until camp.

mickey (bk)

besides for the de being set at tuck and most prob osi who will starting at dt and do u think the giants will mayb get aother one like mayb jon henderson?

Ohm
  (3:19 PM)

Mickey,On Friday, it was Tuck and Kiwanuka at DE with Osi rotating in. Cofield and Canty were the DTs and I think with Linval Joseph there and Alford coming back and Bernard, my guess is the Giants are set. It's been pretty quiet with Henderson.

JasonC (holland,mi)

So afer the first ota how are last years injured player looking this year.

Ohm
  (3:21 PM)

Jason from Holland, Mich... cool!Dude, there were A LOT of guys hurt last year. Where do we begin? RB Andre Brown looked good cutting. Jacobs says he is a full-go. Bradshaw is still limited but did show nice burst on one run last week.Nicks didn't go because of his recent surgery. Canty is healthy and Alford is progressing nicely. So far, everybody is getting healthy and that is major.

Loopy (NJ)

Hi Ohm! Who do you think will put up better stats this upcoming season? Hakeem Nicks or Steve Smith?

Ohm
  (3:22 PM)

Loopy,Wud up. Depends on the better stats? Are you talking fantasy or reality or both? LOL. I think Smith will have more receptions again but Nicks will be their playmaker and I see Nicks' stats going up this season. Maybe not as many catches but more yards and maybe more TDs.

gregg (englewood nj )

Over under on number of games Jacobs plays?

Ohm
  (3:23 PM)

G,Hmm... I'm going to say 13-14. I think Jacobs and Bradshaw are really motivated to prove that they are healthy and will be the RB tandem this team can count on.

andiamo708 (where else....WORK)

Ohm, in your honest opinion.was Bill Sheridan the reason for the Giant Collapse last year on Defense?

Ohm
  (3:25 PM)

Andiamo,Wud up man. I can't put all the blame on Sheridan but I will put the majority of it. I know the Giants were ravaged by injuries. But a lot of teams deal with injuries. Sheridan didn't make excuses but the guys simply didn't buy into his scheme and didn't mesh with his personality. They rave about Perry Fewell like he's the second coming of Spags and I think that is really because they did not like Sheridan. There was talk that guys didn't know what was going on, where they were supposed to be and it sounded like mass chaos.

JasonC (Holland,MI)

Has Dillard started working with the first team d since fewell was screaming at the linebackers

Ohm
  (3:26 PM)

We get to see them on Thursday at the second OTA available to media. Going off by what we saw last Friday, Goff was the guy with the first team. Dillard will get his chances to show what's he's got though.

Andrew (PA)

Where does Curtis Martin rank all time to you?

Ohm
  (3:27 PM)

Andrew,Great, great RB. In my mind, I think he will be a Hall of Famer. Class act and certainly a tough running back.

Andrew (PA)

Matt Williamson, said when i asked Thats Mangold is the best Center in league and jets should do everything to keep him. I agree 100% do you?

Ohm
  (3:27 PM)

Matt Williamson knows his football. So I wouldn't doubt the homey. Regardless of whether he is the best center or even in the top 3, Jets need to do whatever it takes to lock up the dude.

andiamo708 (where else....WORK)

Ohm....myself and TS were discussing this the other day. Will Fewell make the MIKE the only player responsible for calling plays? Is it possible that Boley will take that on initially or no?

Ohm
  (3:28 PM)

Andiamo... you and TS... you two crack me up. Love you guys. Well, going off what they have been saying, sounds like the Mike will do all the calls. But let's say whoever comes up is not as good at it or inexperienced, who knows... but I think the Mike is going to be the guy doing all the play-calling.

JasonC (Holland,MI)

Anti-Spartans anyway Hows Barden looking. Improvements or still like last year showing signs but lack of focus

Ohm
  (3:30 PM)

Dude, come on now! Anti-Spartans? Get ready for another Sparty beatdown this year against Michigan and the undoing of Rich-Rod! LOL. Barden looked good last Friday, made a leaping, falling catch. He's such a huge target that the team definitely wants to see what he is capable of this season. This is a big training camp for him.

Loopy (NJ)

Will LeBron come to the Knicks?

Ohm
  (3:32 PM)

Loopy,Let's hope so. And as I have said before, I don't think that guarantees the Knicks a title. But at least they become significant and something to follow. Because if they get LeBron, they will get another max player, perhaps Bosh. But there are a lot of rumblings about Chicago. And I don't doubt it. And this Phil Jackson to the Nets thing... with the new Russian owner and his deep pockets, anything is possible. Don't sleep on my man Jay-Z being in LeBron's ear all summer.

Andrew (PA)

How long can the Jets keep Shotty before a head coach spot really catchs his eye, Im sure his offered at least one a year

Ohm
  (3:33 PM)

Schotty apparently really loves working for Rex. To our surprise, he didn't want to be considered for the Buffalo job. With that being said, you just can't keep turning down opportunities to interview for head coaching vacancies. Only so many in the league. Buffalo isn't a great job. Schotty is going to wait for a good one.

Kevin (Long Island, NY)

What does it mean to NY to have super bowl 48?

Ohm
  (3:34 PM)

More traffic, more parties, more people eating at all the nicest restaurants and shopping at the nicest stores. More money for the area. More sponsors getting tied into the New Meadowlands stadium. And lots of talk, especially in 2014, and lot's of pressure on the Giants and Jets to be very good that year. So in that case, it should be all good for New York. One thing you can probably count on, both teams will spend to have a good team that year.

Ryan (Germantown, MD)

Hey Ohm, how awesome would it be for a Giants Jets SB in 2014?

Ohm
  (3:36 PM)

Ryan, wud up from MD! It would be incredible. I was just saying that I was thinking today, I bet you both owners will spend to make sure they have a bomb squad going into that 2014 year. There will be so much pressure for both of them to make it. Today, we talked to Rex Ryan and Tom Coughlin. The whole thing has both teams fired up and it is four years away. So much can happen. The rosters will be different. But I think both will definitely make sure they are contending that year if possible.

JasonC (Holland,MI)

Not a UoMfan either Give me the Great JoePa. If you had to say how good is our secondary. I mean TT looked amazing last year and with Ross and Phillips healthy. add Rolle/Grant to pull up some slack. Our secondary should be amazing and have a field day if the dline shows up

Ohm
  (3:38 PM)

Penn State... I think the Lions come to East Lansing this year... and you know what that means... a loss. I don't know if I am ready to call the secondary "amazing." I like the Rolle pick up. KP is an unknown. You just don't know how good he will be coming off that surgery and arthritic condition. Heck, the Giants loaded up at safety which should tell you they are concerned. I like TT a lot. Ross has to stay healthy and Webster hsa to bounce back as well after last year. They will be improved. Amazing... not so sure about that.

Loopy (NJ)

Mike Sullivan: This is gonna be the first time he is gonna be coaching QBs. Any concerns? I'm not really talking Eli, more along the line of helping Bomar develop.

Ohm
  (3:38 PM)

Eli has been saying great things about Sullivan. Bomar actually looked pretty sharp on Friday. The rookie from Wake Forest, Skinner, kind of struggled. Still very early but Sullivan by all accounts has an infectious personality.

Big Stevie Cool (Staten Island)

Please no more Super Bowl 48 questions!

Ohm
  (3:39 PM)

Big Stevie Cool... hating on Super Bowl 48. LOL! Dude, it's only the beginning. LOL.

andiamo708 (where else....WORK)

Andiamo... you and TS... you two crack me up. Love you guys. ^*slowly backs away from computer and logs off*LMAO....you do a great job. Keep up the good work.

Ohm
  (3:39 PM)

Thanks dude! I try.

Andrew (PA)

Tell me the Jets are looking for another Kicker, I'll lose it if they lose games because of that!

Ohm
  (3:42 PM)

Andrew,I am sure there will be other kickers who will be cut loose eventually. Keep an eye on Indy's situation with my fellow Spartan Brett Swenson there now. He was the best kicker in college last season and who knows what will happen there with Vinatieri.

andiamo708 (where else....WORK)

Does Ralph Vacchiano really take 7 vacations a year or is that a myth?

Ohm
  (3:43 PM)

What? No. Ralphie is a hard worker. The Giants beat is filled with some of the best beat writers in the country. Very very tough beat. Ralph is very very good. Any vacation he takes is earned.

@fantasytaz (New Jersey)

How do you see the new Giants cover-2 working out?

Ohm
  (3:44 PM)

Fantasytaz!Fewell is known for his work with the secondary so it should be good but I think he's going to have a pass rush he didn't possess in Buffalo. That should help a lot. Doesn't have to manufacture a blitz anymore. And with those safeties - provided Phillips returns and looks good - Giants defense should be back. All depends on that MLB.

DC (PA)

What about Kenny Philips? Will he be ready for training camp?

Ohm
  (3:46 PM)

DC,Phillips says he will be ready. Perhaps going one practice a day. But they are taking it very slow. Coughlin said the safety is very happy and has been running but that's about it. Got to take it slow with the dude. No reason to be like Paula Abdul and "Rush, Rush" it. LOL.

Loopy (NJ)

The Yankees took the beat writers on a paint ball excursion. Think the Giants would do the same? Also, which beat writer do you think Coughlin would shoot first? Or maybe Pat Hanlon will come out firing at everyone?

Ohm
  (3:48 PM)

Loopy,They did? Pretty cool. Hmm... for some reason I can see Coughlin trying to shoot my boy Garafolo first. LOL. But Mikey is probably to quick. Hanlon may come out with a machine gun! Naw, actually, Hanlon and the Giants PR are the best. And I'm not kissing butt here, paintball excursion or not. LOL.

booza25 (Florida)

Canty,Bernard, do they have any impact this year?

Ohm
  (3:49 PM)

Booza,I see Canty making an impact this season. Bernard... he's got Canty and Cofield ahead of him and then there's Linval Joseph making a play for time as well.

andiamo708 (where else....WORK)

this has got to be the best chat to date....so yeah, to follow up on fantasytaz's question....how much cover 2 you seeing out there? Press coverage w/ the CB's?

Ohm
  (3:50 PM)

Fewell should have the luxury of a pass rush so you could see him get creative. I am very interested in seeing what he does this season. Tuck said it's still too early to see how he will do things schematically because for now it is just OTAs...

Andrew (PA)

Cromartie....will he be worth the up front money?

Ohm
  (3:51 PM)

There are going to be games where Cromartie gives up stuff simply because teams will throw at him and away from Revis. But after last season, I think he will be worth the trade because they really need another legit corner over there. And they raved about him last week at OTA.

Andrew (PA)

For sure best chat ever.....Cortland news?

Ohm
  (3:52 PM)

I don't know the update on Cortland because that is my man Rich Cimini's beat. But as you know, I dabble in some Jets because I was around both teams the past four years. But I can tell you that the Giants are working on being in Albany the first week of August if you wanna come by!

Ohm
  (3:53 PM)

Alright homeys! got to run. Thanks for stopping by and hit me up on Thursday through the blog or on Twitter (@NotoriousOHM) for updates on Giants OTA. See ya'll!
