Hey everybody! Thanks for stopping by. We'll start shortly and talk whatever you guys want. You know me -- we'll talk Giants minicamp and how their offseason went and looking toward Albany... We'll talk Lakers-Celtics and how people NEED to stop putting Kobe in Michael's class for now... We can talk LeBron, just a couple of weeks till July 1... USA Soccer and how they got robbed... How I am going to try and find Jay-Z-Eminem tickets at Yankee Stadium... whatever you guys want! Send in your questions now!

Ohm
  (12:58 PM)

Aight ya'll... let's get this thing started homeys!

The Duke (The Dirty Jersey)

O-Dawg! WHEN I SAY BIG YOU SAY, BLUE!! BIG!!!Any news on this Hixon injury? I heard he walked off the field on his own, so hopefully it is not too bad. Has Tim Brown given him any pressure at the return spots? Haynes....worth a look?

Ohm
  (12:59 PM)

Dukey... this probably is an older question. I am sure you heard by now Hixon is out for the year. GM Jerry Reese has mentioned Mario Manningham and Aaron Ross as potential returners who can emerge. Of course, there's Sinorice Moss, who has been getting majority of returns in the offseason OTAs and minicamp practices. And don't discount rookie safety Chad Jones, who did some returning in college at LSU. But I think it's between Moss, Ross and Manningham.

David (Montville, NJ)

Any concerns by Giants that first day of using new stadium that Hixon got hurt getting his foot stuck in ground?

Ohm
  (1:02 PM)

David, Yeah, some of the players were saying that the field was real slippery. Antrel Rolle said his feet were burning after coming off the field. http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/news/story?id=5298318 To be fair, the field is still very very new. And very soft. It needs to be broken into. And who can really know for sure if Hixon is out for the year because of the turf. I mean, it could have happened on grass no? The Giants say it wasn't the turf that led to Hixon's injury.

Robert (New York)

Ohm, How do you see the offensive line playing out this year? Does Beatty earn the LT spot and Diehl move inside to G?

Ohm
  (1:03 PM)

Rob,That's definitely what could happen. Offensive coordinator Kevin Gilbride said yesterday that the competition is not necessarily between Beatty and Diehl at left tackle but really if Beatty can show he is good enough to start which then moves Diehl inside and Seubert out. Sounds like the Giants are going to give their youngsters every opportunity to push Seubert out. But Seubert is a grizzly vet and crafty and feisty. He won't go down without a fight.

DC (PA)

What's up, Ohm? What do you think of the new field? I know Hixon tweaked his knee, which is not a good sign. But do you think after some breaking in, the field will be ok? Also, is Tom Coughlin still meeting with a 'leadership council' representing the players? If so, which players are on the council?

Ohm
  (1:05 PM)

DC, wud up man? The field is just really new and needs to be broken into. Some players were saying it was really slippery and felt strange and they were a little anxious on it after Hixon went down. But they all know that once it settles in, it should be fine. As for leadership council, I haven't heard anything about it but I have no reason to believe it's not still there. It worked in the past.

Paul (Binghamton, NY)

How do you see the Osi/Kiwi thing playing out? both short term and long term.

Ohm
  (1:06 PM)

P, well short-term, my guess is Kiwanuka emerges only because the Giants have stuck with him with the first team. But really, even if Osi doesn't start, he will play plenty I think. I don't really have a problem with them starting either. Long term is a bit more hazy. Kiwi is in the last year of his deal. We have to see what happens with the CBA negotiations. And with JPP in the fold, the Giants at least have options.

CMURDER (New York, NY via Flint, MI)

O Hay Ohm,So Drake?s long-awaited album dropped Tuesday, but as co-alumnus of MSU, I think you?d agree that this week?s best line wasn?t delivered by Drizzy or even Weezy, but instead Tom Izzo?s ?I am here for life at Michigan State? relieved and elated Spartan faithful. During his ensuing press conference, however, I was taken aback by what I thought to be local media?s misguided criticism of Izzo and the way he handled the Cavs? pursuit. I was particularly angered by Detroit News? Lynn Henning and what could be described as his ?Kanye moment?. What are your thoughts on Izzo?s candor with the media both generally and in this particular situation and what would you have asked if in that room Tuesday night?

Ohm
  (1:10 PM)

Dear Murder, like Drake says, first name Greatest. Last name Ever. That's Izzo. I don't know what that whole press conference was about. It was strange. Michigan State's president and athletic director come out and bash the media and then Izzo, who is about the nicest guy to deal with the media, was really fired up and then went at it with a columnist for like 10 minutes and even said it was like a town hall meeting. I am just glad Izzo is back. I can't believe anybody would say he can't come back to MSU after having deliberated over Cleveland and that his heart isn't into it. Nobody deserves to look into an opportunity more than him. And I also don't think anybody can assume LeBron is not coming back because Izzo backed out. I am sure LeBreezy doesn't know what he is going to do and won't until a week after July 1. As for my question to Izzo, it would have been what angered him the most to make him really just go at the media like that. Thanks for the MSU question Mur!

Robert (New York)

What's your take on JPP? Will we see him at all this year? passing downs?

Ohm
  (1:11 PM)

Rob, I think we will definitely see some JPP in games on a game-by-game basis. The Giants have been working with some packages that have four defensive ends in with Tuck and Kiwi on the outside and JPP at nose with Osi standing up behind them and moving around. It's exciting to see a package like this and if JPP consistently improves, we should see some of him in there, not a whole lot, though, barring injuries.

Chris Fiegler (Latham,NY)

NFL Stadiums the worst you have been to.

Ohm
  (1:12 PM)

CF, I haven't been to every one yet so it is hard to truly answer. So far of the ones I have been to? Tough question. Might be the old Giants Stadium because it was one of the older stadiums I have been to.

Robert (New York)

How does the newly acquired Antrel Rolle doing so far? How much of an impact can he have on the defense?

Ohm
  (1:13 PM)

Rob, Rolle is doing great so far. The Giants have been raving about him and how vocal he has been in the back and I think he is going to emerge as a leader on this team. He has personality and isn't shy and I like that about him. I think the safety play is going to be much improved and I can see Perry Fewell giving Rolle a lot of freedom soon. He will have a major impact this season.

Rick (Bronx, ny)

What did you think of the new stadium? awfully gray huh? I dont know if its going to look like that on sundays i doubt there is going to be a big home field advantage

Ohm
  (1:16 PM)

Slick Rick... the new stadium... well, I like the TVs a lot. There are four, one on each corner and they are long and wide and hi-def. But the rest of the stadium, well, nothing really stood out from what I saw but to be fair, I didn't move around the stadium much other than press box and on the field. I like the clubs down low by the field and looking at the seats, I would say there seems to be a good view from all angles so that is a major plus for fans. But when I look at new stadiums, I really hope for something to wow me, something to stand out big time. At least in Dallas, you got that ridiculous big screen which is unreal. This one is nice, don't get me wrong. Let's see when the games start. It's still windy in there too, but I don't see it getting as windy as the old stadium. But the wind will definitely kick in there.

Joe (New York)

After having know leadership last yeart after A.P went down, Antrel Rolle was brought in for his skills and also his leadership, has he started taking control of the D?

Ohm
  (1:18 PM)

Joey, I was just talking about him and you are right on. I think Rolle will definitely help the Giants fill that AP leadership void for sure. Tuck will too. Osi is trying and can do it but so much has to do with if he starts. Because if he doesn't, he will likely not be happy. I see Rolle playing a major leadership role this year. And yes, he is starting to establish himself.

Andiamo708 (NYC)

you know what, ignore my last question...I saw u already answered it....

Ohm
  (1:18 PM)

Come on dude, send me another question!

Jon (New Jersey)

Hey Ohm, my question is about the giants defense. How have Kenny Phillips, Corey Webster and Aaron Ross been after all having injuries last year. i know if healthy Phillikps will be a starter, but who has the edge to be teh giants starting corners next year?

Ohm
  (1:20 PM)

Jon, KP is still taking it slowly and rightfully so. Perry Fewell says he is expected to be back in time for Aug. 1. Webster has been doing well and we will see how he adjusts to Fewell's coverage schemes which incorporate some zone principles. Ross is competing with Terrell Thomas for the other starting spot and Thomas so far has worked with the 1's. Ross says he is healthy and fine after last year. Thomas has looked pretty good so far and I think he will start camp as the starter.

Andiamo708 (NYC)

whad up hOhmey....In your opinion Giants next punt returner will be.....?

Ohm
  (1:22 PM)

There we go... they have been using Sinorice a lot. But Coughlin and Reese mentioned Manningham and Ross. My thing is, I'd hate to see Manningham get injured and Ross too. Be nice to see Moss be used here at punt returner so the Giants can get him on the field.

Steve (NJ)

Whats your take on the Hixon injury? How much does it hurt the Giants and was the field to blame? Your the man Ohm!!

Ohm
  (1:23 PM)

Stevie... no, you the man G. The Hixon injury hurts a lot. He was a MAJOR presence in the locker room as far as how much his teammates respected him. He led by example, always showing up early and working hard. He may not have made a major impact at receiver and it wasn't like he was one of the most dangerous returners in the game. But he was steady. You knew what you got with him. Now they don't know what they got for sure there, you know? Personally, I'd like to see somebody who is more explosive back there.

Joe (NY)

Ohm, What a hose job today in that USA game. How can this ref make a call like that? He should be banished from FIFA!

Ohm
  (1:25 PM)

Joey, ahh... World Cup at its finest! I saw somebody tweeted that the FIFA play-by-play said it was a foul on Edu, not offsides... when it comes to these international soccer matches, you really never know what you are going to get with the officiating. Sometimes controversy. But to take away a goal like that... not cool.

kevin (nyc)

Ohm I think I understand about what you're saying about eli not throwing the ball a ton because if the giants are on top they'll try to run so as to run out the clock but the history of the giants under coughlin is that he wants to run about 35 times and throw about 30. His ideal would be what we saw in the Washington games which eli cracked 250 yards in both. I suspect he'll throw 4000 and 30 plus td's your thoughts

Ohm
  (1:26 PM)

Kevin, I just think a lot of Eli's numbers came because they were down so much and the running game was completely gone last year. I'd like to see what Eli can do when in an offense that throws a ton. But I just really truly believe you don't want to see Eli throw a ton.

Drew (New York)

Ohm! Whats crackin' amigo? Do you expect Perry Fewell to continue in Spagnuolo's footsteps and have a rotating line of D-Ends? I would love to see Tuck and Pierre-Paul switching between end and tackle and giving those offensive linemen headaches

Ohm
  (1:28 PM)

D, wud up G? I do think Perry got some Spags in him, in both demeanor, energy and creativity. I liked what I saw with the four defensive ends in the lineup at some points in camp. Not sure how it will work with Osi dropping back into coverage - on one play, Moss went across for an easy reception against Osi. But still, you got to see what you got with all these players now and Perry is going to do that.

Jay (DC)

is the revis 100 million rumor true and how would it work/what would the cintract half to look like?

Ohm
  (1:29 PM)

Jay, well, from what I saw, the Jets would give him plenty of years to reach that number and a good portion of it guaranteed. But it is a report. From what I saw and heard, the Jets aren't going to pay him as much per year as Asomugha is making and that is what Revis wants. But they could give him a ton of money with plenty of years and we'll see what Revis wants to do. I still think he wants more per year.

Ben (NJ)

Knicks add who this offseason????

Ohm
  (1:30 PM)

Ben, it's hard to predict. You got to see how the dominoes fall after LeBron. Because we won't know what Bosh will do until what LeBron and D-Wade do. I just HOPE the Knicks don't go after Joe Johnson if they strike out on LeBron and Bosh. I rather them go through another year of losing and then go after Melo and CP3 next year.

Jovan Jaiman (Bronx)

Any news about Kenny Phillips progress?

Ohm
  (1:31 PM)

JJ, KP took it slow in the offseason. Perry Fewell says he expects Kenny to be ready Aug. 1 when camp starts, even if it is for one practice a day. Kenny says there is no swelling in his knee and that his recovery is going as planned and everything is great. He will continue to rehab in Miami.

kevin (nyc)

Ohm What do you see from the passing game and how do you think it can be better

Ohm
  (1:32 PM)

Kevin, I think the passing game is doing good. Steve Smith and Eli have been hooking up for big gains in OTAs. Manningham has shown a lot of speed. Barden continues to show glimpses of his tantalizing talent. Travis Beckum needs to be more consistent but would be a nice weapon. And they say Gilbride has been working on new things. Let's see.

Mitch (LA)

NBA question...who do the Knicks end up with?

Ohm
  (1:33 PM)

Mitch, I answered this question a bit earlier but I am getting worried the Knicks won't get LeBron. And if they just get a Bosh and then Joe Johnson, that is not good enough in my mind. Not when you cat get a difference-making superstar. I rather have Melo or CP3 next year.

Jon (New Jersey)

Last year the giants d dropped alot from 08, the pass d was terrible and they addressed it with rolle and grant, but the run d was not that great either, people ran right up the middle on them. have they addressed this?

Ohm
  (1:34 PM)

Jon, they believe they did that by adding rookie Linval Joseph at DT and they get a healthy Chris Canty back and Rocky Bernard. And with Cofield inside as well, they think they can plug the holes up front.

DC (PA)

Wud up Ohm!? Vacation in 2 more hours...help me get through bro! Any word on when Tyree is going to sign for a day and retire as a Giant?

Ohm
  (1:35 PM)

DC, where you going? Hopefully somewhere nice and tropical man. I am jealous. You taking a girl? LOL! Tyree said he is still hoping to catch on with another team. But he will always see himself as a Giant when his career does come to an end. I can see the Giants honoring him when that day comes.

Paul (Binghamton, NY)

Linval Joseph is my pick for rookie who contributes most this season. How has he been so far and to what extent do you see him contributing this season?

Ohm
  (1:36 PM)

P, Linval has been someone who has impressed his teammates with his size, athleticism and strength. I'm on the same page with you homey. He's my pick for rookie with most impact.

Ryan (Brooklyn, NY)

As a fan I definitely want to see an 18 game NFL season. So would the NFL consider things to make the game "safer" such as implementing college overtime rules to remove kickoffs/punts, probably the most dangerous play in the game &/or add a second bye-week for teams so they have more healing time during the season. I think a second bye would work if you schedule them for weeks 6/7 and weeks 12/13. The drawback of that is the Super Bowl is now the second Sunday in Feb. but so what?

Ohm
  (1:38 PM)

Well, Ryan, most players are opposing the 18-game idea. Tuck came out and said it's the only thing he and Tom Brady will ever agree on. And I understand why. By week 16, most players are beat up and hurt. You extend the season, you are taking a risk that your best players won't be available for the postseason, even if you added another bye week. Think about how the Giants fell apart well before the end of the season. They were dropping like flies. I don't know about the whole adding two more games. I mean, sounds better than preseason but players get hurt way too much in this game. I don't know about the overtime rules going the college way either.

Andiamo708 (NYC)

Ohm, since your putting me on the spot I would really like to know what's going on with Grant and R. Bernard....(the Seattle castaways).Bernard was said to be working out way before OTA's even started....yet I haven't heard ANYTHING about him in months.Grant sounds like a solid player....but is he? I guess i'm just wondering if this guy will be an older version of CC Brown?

Ohm
  (1:40 PM)

Several coaches and players have gone out of their way to mention Grant as being a positive addition with Rolle. They say the two have taken control back there and are very vocal. When I see Grant in the locker room, he interacts with a lot of players. They seem to like him a lot. I think he will be an upgrade over C.C. Brown but hopefully KP will be back and you won't have to worry about all that. As for Bernard, he's been quiet. I mean, we are going to see a lot of Canty and Cofield anyways right? Maybe some Linval Joseph. And with Jay Alford on the mend, they are loaded there.

Rick (Bronx, ny)

i know the coaches say Fewell will play multiple multiple fronts... but are we looking more cover 2 than aggressive blitz that we saw under spags? i doubt the from 4 can get pressure on thier own (ie last season)

Ohm
  (1:42 PM)

Rick, I don't know if Fewell is going to be as aggressive as Spags was. I mean, few are. But I think you will see a combination of what you are talking about. And why don't you think the front four can't get any pressure on the QB? I know what you saw last year but they didn't want to play for Sheridan, there was mass chaos and people were hurt. Tuck was hurt, Canty was hurt. Not to make excuses for them but the Giants must get pressure from their pass rush and let's see if they can do it healthy.

Jeff (Boston)

What's your take on the FieldTurf at the new stadium? Do you think the turf was responsible for Hixon's injury?

Ohm
  (1:42 PM)

Jeff,I think I answered this before but to tell you the truth, to me, it's hard to tell. I mean, same thing could have happened on grass, no? Appeared he did get his foot caught in the turf, Rolle said so himself and he was standing right there.

Chioke Hassan (Baltmore,Md)

Dear OhmCould you ever see Tom Coughlin coaching in the NCAA again?

Ohm
  (1:43 PM)

Dear Choke, LOL. I don't know. I think Coughlin loves the game and loves teaching. And he has said he can see himself coaching a few more years. But I see him as a pro coach.

Alex (dc)

Do you have any information on fox wanting the mets verses nats in july I heard this rumor today and how did the Yankees play the white sox if they played them already being a nats fin since strausburg is pitching against the white sox tonight

Ohm
  (1:44 PM)

Alex, I have zero idea. But I will say this, I'd love to see Strasburg against the Mets. That would be nice!

Rick (Bronx, ny)

Even though your supposed to be impartial does it bother you a little bit Eli had his best season last year (stats wise) and the team around him was a joke ?

Ohm
  (1:46 PM)

Rick, I wouldn't say it bothers me about Eli having his best statistical season. I don't hate Eli or anything. I think Eli showed a lot last season. He helped make the receivers better when everybody thought they had no receivers. I think Eli continually shows he is a solid quarterback and that he is never as bad as some think. He also has enormous expectations to meet with how he was drafted and his brother and winning a Super Bowl. But I was impressed with what he did last year overall.

Ed (Beachwood, NJ)

Last year the Giants were effected dramatically by the injuries of the key players. After seeing some of their training camps, do those players look like they have healed well enough to be an impact? Or are they going to carry those problems into the 2010 season?

Ohm
  (1:47 PM)

E, still a work in progress. I mean, they got a lot of dudes taking it slow and they are being very cautious as they should. Bradshaw, Nicks, Phillips, Alford, Tuck, Boss and others are all guys who have had to sit out a few practices here and there. Hopefully this coming month-plus off gets them "right and ready" as my man JVG would say.

Rob (NY)

Ohm, your prediction on which NY football team has a better inaugural season in the new stadium?

Ohm
  (1:49 PM)

Rob, oooh... putting me on the spot. I think the Jets are going to have a very very tough time with the schedule. They got a really tough schedule but loads of talent but they also got huge expectations on them. The Giants, I think can finish anywhere from 7 wins to 10 or 11 wins. I predicted them to finish 10-6. I am going to say Jets for now but not by much, maybe a win or two.

migs (paterson nj)

ohm wassup big homie?? hows the mlb situation looking around draft time there was definitely alot of talk about it being a major weakness i mean i like boley & sintim on the outsides but who do you see winning the job in the middle?

Ohm
  (1:50 PM)

Migs, wud up G? I can't ignore the fact that Goff has been the starter throughout the offseason. If you go strictly by who has played the most with the first team, it's Goff. Dillard has to really have a great camp in my mind to emerge. Let's see what happens in the preseason games.

Paul (Binghamton, NY)

I'll mix it up by asking a knicks question, but not about players. Is D'Antoni as bad a coach as alot of basketball fans around me think he is? and if the knicks strike out in free agency how long do you see him sticking around?

Ohm
  (1:51 PM)

P, his offense is great with the right personnel. Defensively... he's no Tom Thibodeau! LOL! I mean, did you see the job Thibs did on Kobe last night? If the Knicks strike out on free agents and they go the losing route again to get a big name next summer, it depends on how the team loses. If they are constantly embarrassed and players like Gallinari show no improvement, I can see a change happening.

Rick (Bronx, ny)

i actually heard some rumblings that were veterans who were actually dissapointed in the draft. Have you heard anything about that if so what do you make of that?

Ohm
  (1:53 PM)

Rick, Tuck said actually that he initially was disappointed with the Giants moves in the offseason but that once he thought about it more, he was fine with everything. Now, after seeing all the guys in OTA and minicamp, the word he keeps mentioning is talent and how much they got. Time to put it together. But I can see some of the guys wondering what was going on with taking another defensive end instead of a middle linebacker.

Ohm
  (1:53 PM)

But in addition to last answer, the players have to leave that up to Jerry Reese anyways. Trust in Reese.

Mike (Danbury, CT)

Ohm, finish this sentence for me with 3 statements. The Giants will win the NFC East IF.....

Ohm
  (1:54 PM)

IF a middle linebacker emerges and plays well and exceeds expectations like the wide receivers did last year. IF the running game returns and Jacobs and Bradshaw are healthy and one of them has a 1,000-yd season and IF the defense returns and the pass rush looks the way it was a few years ago.

kevin (nyc)

Ohm I see eli as more than a solid qb i actually think he's in the top 5 but why do you think you would want to see eli throw a ton.

Ohm
  (1:55 PM)

Kev, I said the opposite. I don't want to see Eli throw a lot. To me, that means the Giants are playing from behind. Want to see more balance and less throwing and more running. Usually the Giants win that way.

Andiamo708 (NYC)

Do you think the Giants may have expected a bit much from the rook Petrus. After they drafted him I heard statements from the coaching staff that he could be "plugged" into the starting lineup pretty quickly.I really haven't heard much of him since. Also, w/ the idea of moving Diehl inside....did it make a ton of sense to grab a G when they're were so many Tackles available in this years draft?

Ohm
  (1:57 PM)

Right now I think they are looking for versatility. They were high on Petrus and just because it's been quiet in the minicamp and OTAs doesn't mean they are not high on his future. Takes rookies a while to emerge and even though this offensive line wasn't great last year, it is still made up of crafty veterans who are looking to rebound. I think they want somebody who has versatility and they want to see Whimper play more than just tackle and be able to go inside. Sounds like they really are looking for somebody to beat out Seubert.

Ohm
  (1:58 PM)

Alright guys and girls. Thanks for stopping by on a Friday. Stop by next week when we do this again! Have a great weekend everybody!
