Good afternoon everyone...hope its cooler where you're at...it's hot as blue blazes down-up-or over here in North Carolina..Turn up the AC though and let's get this partaaayyyy started!
Mark, as always I want your opinion on my pre-lim line-up for New Hampshire. Thoughts on the line-up of 11-31-29-77? Thanks!
Nick...11,31 and 29 are solid but 77? Not sure about that one...How about Marcos Ambrose or Martin Truex, Jr...are they in Hornish's group?
What happened last week? You didn't change your team for Infineon. Didya pull an Ambrose?
I did change my team for Sonoma...just like I said on race day chat...Johnson, Montoya, Stewart, Harvick and Ambrose...792 I think and ESPN is looking in to why the trade didn't "take" and why I've been completely erased from one of the leagues I was playing in...I want credit man for another well thought out team know what I mean...And don't get me started about Ambrose thats poor boy from down under...
Here you go..my top pick is Jeff Gordon because of the way he should have won both Phoenix and Richmond...but have to tell you I'm a little nervous about that pick because so many people are ticked off at him one may choose to pay him back in Loudon.........1.Jeff Gordon2.Kyle Busch3.Denny Hamlin4.Jimmie Johnson5.Kevin Harvick6.Juan Pablo Montoya7.Ryan Newman8.Jeff Burton9.Kurt Busch10.Carl Edwards11.Marcos Ambrose12.Mark Martin13.Martin Truex, Jr.14.Matt Kenseth15.Clint Bowyer16.Brad Keselowski17.David Reutimann18.Tony Stewart19.Joey Logano20.A.J. Allmendinger21.Greg Biffle22.Dale Earnhardt, Jr.23.Jamie McMurray24.Kasey Kahne25.Sam Hornish, Jr.26.Reed Sorenson27.David Ragan28.Paul Menard29.Scott Speed30.Regan Smith
hi mark, you cannot make up last sundays race, what was ambrose thinking, i was a nice finish, but cost me a win, this week how do you see the blue deuse in victory lane,if not him who?i cannot use jimmy or gorden. by the way i hope truex pays gorden back this week?totally out of control.whoooooooooooo rick flair.
Ambrose deal killed me in so many ways...hurt my team..and you just wanted him to win so badly...as for Kurt Busch I see him as a top-10 car going in with potential to develop over the weekend into top-5 material. Didn't look particularly good at Phoenix or Richmond though..Without JJ or JG...how about Kyle Busch or Hamlin?...and whoooooooooooo back at ya!
I was reviewing the historical finishes for New Hampshire and found that Yeley has a good record at this race, average finish 14.8. Does he have this track figured out? If I end up with some funds left, is he someone I should pick for my team? Do you think I can hope for a top 20 finish out of him?
Sorry Mark, J.J. Yeley is not an answer for you this weekend..how about Bobby Labonte who's now going to drive Robby Gordon's car the whole way Sunday?...or maybe you can take a flyer on Hornish if you don't have the funds for Ambrose or Truex who I think will be top dark-horse picks Sunday.
Who do you think will win the New England 200 at New Hampshire?
How about the guy who won it last year - Kyle Busch.
Hi Mark, I have been just killing it with Burton/Harvick, but they don't run very good at NH. Any ideas? 1st tier drivers inconsistant as well, who ya picking?
Forget about past stats..Harvick is a top-10 ready to take to the bank and so is Burton for that matter..They finished third and fourth at Richmond and will be very tough again..but among the "B" drivers Ambrose, Truex, and McMurray should get some thought as well as Reuttiman, but it will be hard to walk away from Harvick/Burton.
Guru good week..Good call on JJ. Lets go to NH. Do you have any feel after talking with Crew members what is up with Mark Martin. He is not a threat at all.. Does he turn it around this week. Love Beth
Hard to say if Martin will turn it around this week. His crew chief Alan Gustafson is admitting they got caught napping when NASCAR switched back to a rear spoiler from the rear wing and they've been behind ever since. At this point, I don't see Mark jumping up and winning at NH..Top-10 is about what you can hope for from him..back at ya!
Ok, first I just have to say I am so happy that TNT only has two more races to cover after this weekend. This has to be the worst crew to cover races and last weekend did it for me. I mean to say, " if you want to find Ambrose you will probably find him at the Golden State Bridge". I know they were just kidding but come on that was just the most absurb thing to say. I will be listening to the next three races on my local radio station. I think JJ and is going to make it two in a row what is your thoughts on the studs for this race. Thanks agin,,, Roosterfish
Well Daryl, I'm all for turning down the TV and listening to me, Doug Rice and the PRN gang this week at New Hampshire..I think we do a great job..Johnson will be very tough at New Hampshire because he was tough to deal with at Phoenix, where he led the most laps and finished third.
Pick two out of these three (keep in mind that in this league we also get bonus points for qualifying): 11, 2, 24
11, and 2
We're eagerly awaiting your top 30, Mark.
Did it once..but here it comes again......1.Jeff Gordon2.Kyle Busch3.Denny Hamlin4.Jimmie Johnson5.Kevin Harvick6.Juan Pablo Montoya7.Ryan Newman8.Jeff Burton9.Kurt Busch10.Carl Edwards11.Marcos Ambrose12.Mark Martin13.Martin Truex, Jr.14.Matt Kenseth15.Clint Bowyer16.Brad Keselowski17.David Reutimann18.Tony Stewart19.Joey Logano20.A.J. Allmendinger21.Greg Biffle22.Dale Earnhardt, Jr.23.Jamie McMurray24.Kasey Kahne25.Sam Hornish, Jr.26.Reed Sorenson27.David Ragan28.Paul Menard29.Scott Speed30.Regan Smith
QUESTION TO MARK GARROW AT 3.25 PM GOOD WENESDAY GURU WHO DOES THE LOUDON GURU HAVE FORLOUDON SUNDAY
I'm going out on a limb and predicting Jeff Gordon won't get wrecked and won't give away the race at the end like Phoenix and Richmond, ending his 45-race losing drought.
Guru, based off the success some drivers have had on similar tracks this season who do you like this week? Does the 29 make the cut?
Well, I've given you my top-30 so that will tell you who I really like..but yes I think Harvick has been so good past stats don't mean much and he'll keep coming through. Plus, RCR's flat program is good enough to be underrated.
I understand Reed Sorenson is taking the seat for Casy Mears. How do you think he will do this week and beyond? Will he be a good value pick?
He could be...I've got him in the top-30...his price and possible top-20 performance in the Red Bull Toyota could make him attractive this Sunday...we just need to keep track of him all the way through race day morning.
Mark - Who finishes higher this week? Dinger, Menard, Sorensen, or Hornish
I believe it will be the Dinger.
I believe it will be the Dinger.
Will there be any payback against Jeff Gordon this week? He made alot of people mad last week.
There could be, which is why I was really nervous to make him my number one pick. He'll have to have eyes in back of his head to keep from being a target.
Cowabunga Guru! Rank these 2 groups of Dudes for me. Do they surf in New Hampshire? 20, 00, 56, 47 and 77, 71, 82, 34.
47,56,00 and 20....then 77, 82,34 and 71 who doesn't have Bobby Labonte behind the wheel anymore as of today. He quit and will drive Robby Gordon's car Sunday.
No brainer this week, right? 48, 24, 11, 29, 31.
I can live with that team..should be money baby!
Good Afternoon, Guru! Exciting news for those of us who are in leagues where we have to use "c" drivers, since that group hasn't done well, historically, at New Hampshire. As of now, how would you rank Sam Hornish, Reed Sorenson in the 83, and Bobby LaBonte in the 7 this weekend? As always, Thanks! (I guess Robby had said he would start-and-park the 7 with PJ Jones due to lack of sponsorship, but now says they will run the full race with Bobby driving.)
Hornish is tops in that group now but both Sorenson and Labonte could now be wild cards in Loudon. They could have some big upside but we'll have to take a wait and see attitude...and yes Gordon says he'll run the whole way with Labonte but I'll check that out again for our race day chat.
jeff gorden haha tony stewert is the name a team owner and a driver is pretty hard to do and he pulls it off.
hey mark, i'm quite surprised that you have AJ ranked so high, his best finish here is like 25th I think, so why go with him? Also, should we consider a guy like a Reed Sorenson or Labonte this weekend? I mean, but have good stats here but those stats came while they were driving different cars and equipment, your thoughts.
AJ was 15th at Phoenix and I really think he's running a little stronger now than back then..and as I said just a second again both Sorenson and Labonte are potential dark-horse picks..we'll just have to see how quickly they come out of the box with their new teams.
howdy mark, which two drivers would you pick from the following list: 43, 98, 77, Sorenson, Labonte, 78, the 82, the 37 and the 38, need two please.
I'd probably go 43 and 77, hoping Hornish can get through the race trouble-free.
Hey Mark--just curious why Biffle is so low on your Top 30??? Doesn't he fare pretty decent at Loudon??? Thanks James
He's someone that may rise on the race day rankings..but he struggled at Phoenix and Richmond and didn't really show me much on the tracks most similar to NH.
JUAN PABLO MONTOYA THE BEST??
Not "THE" best but one of the best and since NH is a road course, many say, with only left hand turns he should do really well Sunday and I agree. He was fifth at Phoenix and sixth at Richond.
Hey again, Guru - sorry for sending my questions in separately, I forgot about this one. Like you, I'm really feeling Jeff Gordon for this weekend. I'm limited to the # of times I can use a driver - do you think it would be best to wait on him because of possible payback?
It's a tough call Matt...For me, I'll get on the ground in New Hampshire and see what the other drivers are thinking..if it's top of mind for guys like Truex and Kurt Busch, Gordon could be in trouble...if not, they'll wait and smack him around somewhere else.
hey mark, got a few dilemmas here. need two from the following 3: Kurt, Hamlin, and Jimmie, and also need 4 from the following 8: 00, 31, 19, 33, 56, 20, 88 & 39. Hope you understand my questions, but just in case, I need 2 from the 1st list and 4 from the other list, hope that made sense!
11 and 48...then 31,39,56,00...how about that Jerry?
Well, I guess that's going to do it for today's chat..remember race day chat from Loudon, NH will begin at 10:15 eastern Sunday morning..Until then have a great week and may the force be with you...Sad to say once again "The Guru has left the building!"
