Chat with Paul Kuharsky

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:07 PM)

Hey folks. How's everyone?

Todd(PA) [via mobile]

After Reggie Wayne and Andre Johnson what WRs do you think will have the best year Garcon Sims-Walker Britt anyone else?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:08 PM)

Needs to be Sims-Walker for the Jags' sake.

Brandon (TN)

What are your thoughts on "The Decision" tonight? Lebron may even be a bigger diva than T.O. and Ocho Cinco put togher.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:08 PM)

I really don't have a huge objection to how he's handled himself. There was an expiration date on this thing from the start.

Jim Fassel (Las Vegas Locomotives)

How much longer are the Titans gonna hold on to WR Paul Williams? I need some backups out here.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:09 PM)

He's yours by end of preseason at the latest.

LeBron James [via mobile]

PK, I wanted to announce my decision in your chat first. I am quitting basketball to throw my support behind the Finley Kuharsky campaign for Governor. I plan on riding his coattails all the way to the White House.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:09 PM)

Fantastic news. I will call the news desk.

Kim jong Ill (Your house)

Why does the national media paint the Jaguars as a horrible team?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:10 PM)

Because they don't sellout. Where are you, exactly?

Austin (Ft Wayne, IN)

This is my first time asking a question but Ive been reading for quite awhile. I really enjoy your work and quite impressed of how nuetral of a writer you are. How do you feel about Curtis Painter backing up Manning? I thought he was a great value when drafted but wasnt impressed with what I saw last year. Painter did face tough defenses while the Colts rested starters. Also, with next years draft being deeper in QBs, what are the odds the Colts draft a high profile QB to groom?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:11 PM)

Glad to hear from you. Way too early to worry about Manning's heir. And if he gets hurt one season, they'll just be out of luck. Most teams are like that if they need to rely on the backup to their best player.

Ken (Clarksville)

Paul, we know Jeff Fisher has his fans & critics. Whenever someone calls for his head, it seems the automatic repsonse is " who are they are gonna get " ? Other NFL teams have fired coaches and found new ones. Why is the line of thought that the Titans cant find another ? Or has Bud Adams just gone insane ? The way Fisher mis-handled last season, and saying before the season started " he wasnt worried about the return game " ( Was he kidding us ? ), and having a 1-6 playoff record since the '99 season... isnt 15 seasons enough time to prove your a great coach ? How can a coach with his talent

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:13 PM)

Fisher had probably his worst year. He's an underachieving playoff coach. Still, Dallas would hire him in a second and Bud doesn't like the idea of him beating the Titans as a Cowboy. Sure Atlanta or Baltimore has hired a good new coach. But how has it gone in Cleveland, Oakland, St. Louis or Tampa? Isn't a known quantity better?

Mac (Boston)

Is Chris Johnson going to get paid or what?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:13 PM)

He should take the $2.5 M on the table and be happy. Pot of gold awaits next year.

Razel (Texas)

I know it's very soon but you stated Damian Williams could be a potential number 1 receiver, you think he has the hands to be a solid number 2? It would allow Nate to play a wes welker type role and not have to rely on his hands to much. Thanks Paul!

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:14 PM)

I didn't state it, Reinfeldt stated it. Williams won't be top four at the start of the season.

Peyton Manning (Somewhere in the Louisiana Back County)

Can I finally get a left tackle to finally replace Tarik Glenn? Or will someone new be starting at Left Tackle come opening day?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:15 PM)

I think Charlie Johnson is your man, Pey.

Sean (Houston)

Paul, What type of season do you think the titans expect from Vince Young to reasonably go forward with him as the franchise qb? Playoffs? Super Bowl? etc

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:16 PM)

At least 14 games, no off the field drama. Productive.

Finley (Governor's Mansion)

Can someone please put in a doggie door?!?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:16 PM)

OK, I'll check on you.

Kevin Bacon (Filming Footloose Part 12)

PK, It's time for the real Kevin to take charge. I'm tired of Costner being the MVP and star of yoru chats. Costner wasn't in Footloose! There's not a game where you can connect Costner to any other person on Earth in six moves!

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:16 PM)

What's six degrees for you and Costner? What have you done about the oil spill? I won't cross over so easily.

Simon Kuharsky (playpen)

Hey Pops, we gonna stay up and see this Lebron thing?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:17 PM)

If by we you mean me, then yes.

Greg (Indy)

The other day Matt Willimason said that he thinks Garcon is going to have a break out year this year. Are you as high on Garcon has Williamson is? (I think he also said Garcon will be the Colts #1 in 2011)

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:18 PM)

I like Garcon a lot, but probably not quite as much as Matt.

Jake (nashville)

In David Climer's chat today someone asked if you were a gent he laughed and shrugged it off; when pushed further he said something about an older gentleman at the Steeplechase? Can you clarify this please.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:18 PM)

Australian fellow and I once had words over his terrible throwing motion.

LeBron James (Greenwich CT)

I want to hire you to write for my website what do you think?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:19 PM)

What's the pay?

SlickRick (Mt. Juliet)

Does T.O. end up in the AFC South?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:19 PM)

Nope.

Chaser (Norfolk, va)

What's up Paul I always like reading your blogs and analysis I feel you are very honest and upfront. I've never posted anything until now, reason being is I'm a titans fan and I'm truly worried about our upcoming season. Our defense is starting to scare me and I don't trust an offensive ran team with fisher ball...what are your takes

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:20 PM)

I think they are counting on too many guys to blossom simultaneously and I don't like the odds of it happening. Feels like 8-8 or worse to me. Going to be an offensive team.

Peyton Manning [via mobile]

Pete, dude, no one told me the chat was on hiatus last week. We haven't been communicating well and I feel left in the dark.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:20 PM)

Generally, when I say I am on vacation I won't be chatting.

John (Nashville)

Paul we are both friends with Will Hoge on facebook. Big fan?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:21 PM)

Love him. Nashville's best home grown rock and roller. If we consider Kings of Leon suburbanites.

Terrell Owens (Pool and Spa depot)

Fisher said my skills have diminished and im on the downside of my career but arent I better than anyone on the current Titans roster? My numbers last season were better than any Titan even Britt.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:22 PM)

The Titans have their best pool of receivers since they've been in Nashville, and have zero interest in you, chief.

Dead Horse (In the pasture)

Did Austin just refer to you as neutral? Finally a break from the beatings.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:22 PM)

I am so biased it's crazy. Pump up Colts!

Chris (Oxford, OH)

Optimistically, how do you feel about the titans and the playoffs this year?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:23 PM)

Optimistically, I think they miss the playoffs. Realistically, I think they miss the playoffs by quite a bit.

Mike (Indy)

You think CJ should take the 2.5mil? What happens if he goes out and gets injured this year, never gets paid for a record season?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:23 PM)

Better to be sitting home healthy?

Matt Beeskie (San Marcos, TX)

Two questions in one: who do you foresee/desire taking the bulk of the Texans carries in 2010-2011?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:24 PM)

If they spend a second rounder on you, you better be able to contribute a lot and soon. So Tate.

Chase (Vb)

Over under 18 ints Over under 26 tds Vince young

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:24 PM)

Including rushing? Still under.

Kevin Spacey (Polishing my awards)

Bacon and Costner make me laugh. I get things done.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:24 PM)

K-PAX?

Drew Brees (Mardi Gras)

Are you going to buy my book?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:25 PM)

I will buy Jeff Duncan's book on the Saints when it is out. Still at Mardi Gras?

Gil (Urban Jacksonville)

Do you think Coach Del Rio has created a double standard with players participating in radio shows? Or is his reasoning/logic sound?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:25 PM)

I can't believe it's an issue, for him or for you.

Brian F. (Jacksonville, FL)

BCC is reporting, via twitter, that the Jags magic number is 6,200 tickets. Do you see this as an ongoing news story as long as the Jaguars are in Jacksonville or will winning solve everything?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:26 PM)

Ongoing until regularly sold out.

Management Mark (104.5 food delivery truck dock)

Should the Titans pay for my meatloaf or can I write it off as a tax deduction?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:26 PM)

That's a lot of meatloaf. IRS might sniff that out.

Charles (Goodlettsville)

Have you tried Firehouse Subs yet? It gives Jersey Mike's a real run for their money.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:27 PM)

I have and it doesn't!

John (Nashville)

Paul, as much as i love Titans history don't you think it's time we take down some of the big HH Gregg pics with matthewt, whycheck, george, etc, and get some new blood up there.Just saw your Will Hoge responce he is great. maybe i will see you at a show

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:27 PM)

Yes they should. But that big VY banner isn't doing it for me either.

JD (Downstairs on the left)

What is the latest update on Kenny Britt? He seemed to have been a major disappointment these last few months being held out of practices. Has he gotten himself back in shape and can he get to #1 by the season opener?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:28 PM)

If he doesn't, it's a huge disappointment. I think he's woken up.

Player Hater's Club - President (Hotlanta)

We would like to extend you an invitation based on your coverage of the AFC South.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:28 PM)

No thanks. I pass on all things Atlanta, the way the Braves pass on winning World Series or fans pass on buying tickets to watch them not win them.

Ryan (NY)

My man. Finally back. Best NFL blogger at ESPN for sure. Last year everyone thought that it was the year the Colts streak of winning 12+ ended, but they were sadly mistaken. Besides 1 game, we were the best team in the NFL the whole season. Tell me why the Colts could not be even better with a healthy Bob, Gonzalez, and Freeney (wasnt healthy for the 1 game we got outplayed).P.S. It's hard being a Colts fan in NY with all these Jets fans talking the Jets up so much. I don't need to talk to them, the Colts play on the field does enough of the talking.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:30 PM)

I can't tell you why. I've written they could be better, though their schedule is worse. And I thought they'd win the division last year. Tell Jets fans that AFC Championship Game gap isn't so easily closed.

Chris (Indy)

Netherlands v Spain. Who ya got?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:30 PM)

Rooting Dutch. Expecting Spain.

Brian F. (Jacksonville, FL)

To follow up on my Facebook question regarding AFCS QBs, who presently is sitting pretty if all four starters go down?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:31 PM)

Titans are probably best off. And that's more a knock on depth elsewhere than applause for Collins.

Charles (Goodlettsville)

What is your favorite sports book? Reading, not gambling.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:33 PM)

Thanks for being clear. Fever Pitch by Nick Hornby is tough to beat.

Herbert (Germany)

How childish does the city of Jacksonville get if Denver beats Jacksonville week 1? (I don't see it happening by the way)

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:33 PM)

If Tebow scores, it'll be bad.

peyton manning (chatt town tennessee)

Will I get a deal done this summer or will I be the LeBron James of next summer?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:34 PM)

Even without a contract, you're not going anywhere. There is zero LeBron possibility for you.

Dan (Winnipeg, MB Canada)

If the Colts can go undefeated deep into the season again this year do you forsee a re-play of last year's controversy or have the ignorant Colts fans who made all that noise learned what Polian learned many years ago watching Freeney play hurt in the SB?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:34 PM)

Freeney didn't get hurt in the last two games of the regular season, did he?

Jeremy (Dallas)

Paul, do you see any AFC south rookies holding out for an extended period? Based on slotting, they are all in good positions for easy contracts, but do you think will want a premium?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:35 PM)

Jags and on-time first-round contracts haven't mixed well recently.

Courtney Love (Boise Idaho)

Next time you come to my show backstage is where I go off the rails not on stage. Pay more for VIP access next time. Can you give me jamarcus russells home number? We have something private to discuss.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:35 PM)

I don't know that I wanted to be closer. You looked good from my distance. And I didn't get wet with the water or kerosene you were spraying.

Linus (Peanuts)

Every year I say I'm not going to read the preseason magazines and every year I buy 5 of them. They say Houston going to turn the corner this year (and last year and the year before that, etc) What do you predict? Houston AFC South champs? Or do they give Indy the game in the 4th quarter like the last three years and go 8-8?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:36 PM)

I don't see them winning the division. How about they start with going .500 in the division? Maybe a Wild Card.

I'm picking both Zach Millers (In my FF League)

Project the stats for both of the TE's named Zach Miller.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:37 PM)

Jags are dying to use him. Can he stay healthy?

Keith Bulluck (Tim McGraws patio)

Who will be the starting 3 linebackers for the Titans opening day?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:38 PM)

Witherspoon, Tulloch and Thornton. Thornton for suspended McRath.

Cory (Here)

Most players seem to play better when they know they're playing for contracts, any chance Tennessee is holding off on CJ so that he has to earn his contract again?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:40 PM)

I disagree with your premise, and think you are way over-thinking. They are holding off because he's under contract for three more years already.

TL (Jacksonville)

In your evaluation of the revamped Jaguars defensive line, what were your observations/thoughts about Terrence Knighton (affectionately referred to as "Pot Roast" around here)? He impressed last year, at least for a rookie, and I'm hoping that he, combined with Kampman and Alualu and his quick first step will be a much more formidable force this year, which can only make the jobs of everyone else behind them a little easier. Agree, disagree?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:40 PM)

Can be very good. Can also be very fat. Needs to watch it and not go overboard.

Megan Fox (Hot Lady Land)

What do you think about my new beau, Brian Austin Green? I know you used to be a big fan of his.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:41 PM)

Loved 90210. Once met Ray Pruitt's alcoholic mother in an airport line. You can do better.

Crooked Steve (Indy)

I have this sinking feeling in my gut that we won't be hosting the Super Bowl because of a lock out. Tell me I'm just being paranoid!!!

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:42 PM)

I don't think a lockout will touch the season and if it does I don't think it touches more than four or six games.

Ryan (NY)

No he did not. He got hurt in the AFC Championship game. But I am all for resting, if that's what they think is best.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:43 PM)

So resting guys for the final two weeks of the regular season doesn't prevent injurries in the playoffs? Fascinating.

Razel (Texas)

Keith Bulluck to the Lions,Giants, or slim hope titans?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:43 PM)

Lions or Giants, whoever needs more help sooner. It's not going to be the Titans.

Jack Howard (Nash)

Does Daddy ever share his meatloaf with you? He always eats mine.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:44 PM)

He's not a food sharer. Or a breakfast guy. Or a Bud Selig critic.

T.J. (Kokomo, IN)

Who, in your illustrious opinion, will top the AFC this year? I've heard too many people picking the Jets (this years trendy pick... how did last years trendy team (Houston) fare?), and in my opinion, Mark Sanchez needs a couple more years before he's ready for the big game. I hate to be a broken record, but I think the Colts, again, have good chances. (of course, I am a Colts fan, too.)

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:45 PM)

I think Baltimore will be very good but am weeks away from making such picks.

Clay Travis (104.5 lobby)

Every quarterback that had the same passing and rushing yards as McNair is in the Hall of Fame, why not mcnair next?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:45 PM)

Just that makes him a Hall of Famer?

Brian F. (Jacksonville, FL)

We know you'll travel to see AFCS games live. So week 1, where will you be? Can't imagine Oak\TN carries any interest so is it intraconference with Ind@Hou or Den@Jax? Both could offer great story lines. But that could depend on what TT does in preseason.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:46 PM)

Fully expect to be @Houston.

Mike Keith (Bud Adams sauna)

Can the titans finish second in the afc south this season?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:47 PM)

Possible. Especially if 8-8 is good enough for second.

Corey Frizzell (Nashville)

The Colts defensive interior line went from laughing stock to pretty darn good last year. One hit wonder?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:47 PM)

Wouldn't call it a team strength still.

Critics And Haters (Peyton Manning's Back)

What does it take to stop us? Does Peyton have to have multiple rings?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:47 PM)

A second ring would go a long way. But some will never stop.

Razel (Texas)

does it make him not a hall of famer?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:50 PM)

He's not a Hall of Famer. Players from his generation who are unquestionably better than he was: Aikman, Favre, Manning, Elway, Young, Warner, Brady. Should the (at best) eighth-best QB of his generation be in the Hall of Fame? No. It's not the Hall of Good.

Yugi (Hyrule)

The Kirk Morrison trade the best move in the draft by any team?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:51 PM)

Good move. Not the best move of the draft. Anything that's good has to have "best" tried on these days.

Vince Vaughn (Hollywood)

When the hell am I gonna get back to form? I'm starting to feel like Adam Sandler here.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:51 PM)

Didn't even see your last one about the big island vacation chief. Costner -- help him out.

Anderson Cooper (condo in hot lady land)

Can Jason Jones move to defensive end if the Titans need him too? When healthy he is a sack machine.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:52 PM)

Why do they need him to? They have Haynes, Morgan, Ford, Babin and Ball.

Adam (Denver)

Is there any truth to the Titans-CJ2k getting close to a deal rumor?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:53 PM)

Not a new deal, no. They've offered to add $2.5 million this year, moving an escalator from later in his contract into a bonus now. That's it.

Brian F. (Jacksonville, FL)

Any chance Boselli's efforts to keep the Jags in Jacksonville can add fuel to the flames burning to get him into Canton? Gale Sayers is in with only 6 years of work. As you rightly noted, TB was dominant...maybe the most dominant LT during his tenure.

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:54 PM)

There is a burning flame? Boselli's not getting in, and work as a ticket salesman/promoter wouldn't help his cause.

Jeremy (Dallas)

Do you think Antonio Smith has underperformed on his contract thus far?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:54 PM)

They like him a lot. Too soon to judge still.

Chris Rock (bed stuy Brooklyn )

Will the Jets overload on talent leave them flat like the Deion Sanders led Redskins?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:55 PM)

I suspect so.

Poor Bored College Kid (No Where)

Training camp worth going to as a fan? or just stick to Modern Warfare?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:56 PM)

If you like to sweat, see two good catches, burn, watch coverage teams work on how to run and turn, get dehydrated and see fifth string quarterbacks get yelled at, it's phenomenal. No, if video games are your other choice, you should get outside.

Jimmy (201) [via mobile]

How far can Miami make it in a tough AFC east?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:56 PM)

I'm not big on Miami.

Johnny Cash (Walking the Line)

Anthony Gonzo = Bust; Tony Ugoh = Bust; Mike Pollack = Bust; Donald Brown = Not looking so good. Has Bill Polian lost his touch?

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:57 PM)

How is Gonzo a bust? Hurt and busted are two different things. Ugoh and Pollak have one more chance now. Donald Brown has plenty of time.

Chris Johnson (Twitter account)

Brah dis b 4 reel n her u sho nuf no it....... i gettin up......#....*oane^%.........;lkjingb..........

Paul Kuharsky
  (3:58 PM)

Exactly what I was thinking!

Heath (Oboro, KY)

Do you not think a big youth movement for the Titans is a positive this year. A+ O-line, A RB, C QB, a defense that has to better than last year and they were two wins away last year. Some they practically gave away, see Mouton.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:00 PM)

Cook, Stevens, Harris, Ford, Hayes, Marks, McCourty or Mouton and McRath are all going to get better and play to expectations this year?

Charlize Theron (World Cup)

Why is everyone so upset with me. I like football. That's what us hardcore soccer fans call soccer.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:01 PM)

I am not at all upset with you.

Ricky Bobby (winnersville population uno)

If the Titans win the Super Bowl this year will you shave your head?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:01 PM)

Also if they don't.

The Chocolate Fountain (One Stadium Place)

Brian F. was using imagery...of course there is no flame. I'm seriously considering putting a limit on your chocolate intake when you visit.

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:02 PM)

Limit me at your own peril!

Joe Montana (Cool guy land)

I said VY would win many super bowls, do you think i will be proven right one day?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:02 PM)

We talking Playstation or something?

coop (setx)

what's the strangest, most off-the-wall question you've ever asked in an interview and/or answer you've been given?

Paul Kuharsky
  (4:03 PM)

My famous Al Davis moment deserves more than a chat line, so we shall save it for an even bigger occasion...

Paul Kuharsky
