What's going on everyone? The blinds are about to go up as players enter the second hour of play today. Send your questions in and we'll get started
How many former Main Event Champions still in this years Main Event?
Johnny Chan is leading the field with a stack over $400K. Other world champs still around: Chris Moneymaker, Joe Cada, Robert Varkyoni, Scotty Nguyen...I think that's it.
I lost track of Billy Koop after his successful Day 1 - still alive? That would be a comeback story for the ages.
He started today in the top 50.
Is Negreanu still alive? what his is chip count
Just hanging on. He's down near the 25-30K range.
Only 4 levels again, and not even going to reach the money today? Seems like its gonna be a bunch of 14+ hour days coming up for the people that do go deep.
Not at all. The field is dropping very quickly and if history provides us with a look at the days to come, we usually have two shorter days around 5/6. I don't expect a 14 hr day until the final 27-->9 and even on that day last year we were only in action until 1 a.m. or so.
hows my man dave braun doing? what kind of table draw did he get today?
A good table draw today which is a first for him here in the main event. He's basically at the same stack where he's started, though I can't see his chips from here.
You should really look to hire Lance Bradley full time. Good guy.
How many chips does Bernard Lee have now?
Bernard is nearing the $200K mark. He's had a great day so far and clearly he couldn't have asked for a better one. He's feeling good and really liking his table too.
Andrew my Buddy Robert Merulla is in the top 200 and wanted to just give him a shoutout here. He played with Greenstein all day yesterday and got referenced in a tweet from greenstein. Wish him Luck today!
I need an update on my man Jack Ury. Getting through 2 days of play for a guy his age is a great story.
Still in the tournament! Great to see him make Day 3 and hopefully he'll be going a lot further.
Will the ESPN coverage of the Main Event this year show more hands for the final table? Will there be live coverage on ESPN3 at any time?
More hands in every episode. As far as ESPN3 for the final table, I haven't heard anything about it. Sorry.
Andrew - When will the cash be? will it be end of day today or into Day 4?
Cash will be reached on Day 4, later in the day. It really depends on how many drop during today's action.
Serious question-who does the writeups for wsop.com at the end of each day of the main event, with that huge dump of information? Is it just one person or is it a team?
They have a team to take care of the write ups. Nolan Dalla does a great job with the official reports if that's what you are referring to.
I'm still in it.. guess I'm proving all of the people wrong that I just got lucky last year, huh?
Still going strong. It's great to see Cada make another run this year and yes, hopefully proving to everyone else that he didn't luckbox his way through seven days before the final table last year.
True or False, now that Ivey has been knocked out of the Main Event he will make more money playing cash games at Bobby's Room or wherever than he did finishing in 7th place last year?
I'm leaning towards true.
And now I see Ury is out. GG Jack. See ya next year.
What happened to you in the media event? We want details!
They gave us 10K in chips and 15 minute levels starting at 100/200. I didn't play basically anything for the first three levels, got moved to three different tables and moved all-in with A-Q only to find A-K when I was down to 6K in chips (at 500/1000, 100 ante)
Actually, it might have been 400/800. In any case, I had a good time
I gather that no company can have more than 3 poker site logos at the ME final table. So what are your bets for the 3 non FT and PS logos that we'll end up seeing?
Mr.Feldman: What's your favorite form of poker and when did you get your start?
love mixed games and started playing at the kitchen table (not hold 'em, but stud/crazy games) like everyone else.
Andrew - do you expect more online players or live players to make a deep run this year?
Online. The game just gets younger each year.
Vanessa Rousso just doubled up
I love the concept of the November 9 but GAWD that is a long time to wait. What do the players in the event think of the long delay?
Depends who you ask. Some players enjoy it as it gives them a great chance to make more money on endorsements while others just want to get it over with. Still #goodforpoker in the long run.
When does the Bernard Lee November 9 party start?
Andrew - do you think any female players will make a deep run or maybe even make a final table? fingers crossed that it happens to get women more interested in the game
Absolutely. We can't rule anything like that out, especially at this point when there are some women at the top of the leaderboard.
Do you think we could have multiple Mizrachi's in the November Nine or will the table draws force them to knock each other out?
If that happens it would be quite amazing, but the odds of that happening are really, really, really, really slim.
Who do we have left as far as tv / movie celebrities?
Hank Azaria, AJ Soprano, Sully Erna and I think that's it.
From your ringside view who do you think will be getting the most airtime on ESPN thus far?
Ivey, Cada, Doyle, Scotty so far. That all changes over the next few days.
What's the reasoning putting 1A and 1C together for 2A and then 1B and 1D together instead of 1A and 1B for 2A and 1C and 1D for 2B?
1C and 1D were going to be the biggest starting days no matter what and the WSOP staff wanted to make sure there would be enough seats for everyone on each Day 2. If you combined 1C and 1D, you would've had a tough time accommodating everyone.
Just found out from Al (Go to the full tilt poker blog and check his stuff out) that Jack Ury didn't show up today...
Did Phil Ivey lose his best chance at becoming a ME champion last year?
Honestly, yes. To think that even he could get back to the final table soon is extremely tough to believe just based on the massive field size that only gets bigger. Ivey may have missed his chance last year, but he has a long career left.
Why hasn't new Inside Deal been posted? I've been waiting for it all morning (and yesterday too)
Working on it. It should be up soon. The team back in Bristol has been busy trying to get it up on the site.
So did Jack Ury get blinded out, or his stack just sitting there unmanned?
Without him there, his stack was blinded out.
approx have many people have been eliminated thus far today
At least 250. Tables breaking quickly.
Jonny Chan...REALLY???? What would be bigger him or Daniel N winning?
Andrew - great fan of yours. My son Matthew is still in the ME. Just wanted to give him a shoutout here and wish him GL!
Thanks. Best of luck to your son.
How can we specifically follow Dave Braun? Is there site we can tune into for real time viewing/tracking?
Just ran over to his table. He's around $31K or so. Following my twitter feed (@ESPN_Poker) is probably your best bet since there is no live streaming.
Do any of these guys drink while they are playing? I mean I usually am drinking beer when playing in my regular games. I don't know if I could play without it.
Later in the day and definitely during the last level on Day 1. I don't think that these guys, who are playing for $9 million want anything to potentially stop them from making the best decision.
What happens if FT/PS sponsored players compose the N9? Meaning that the 9 players came in as already on FT and PS... or do they do day to day sponsorship with most of the people at that point?
They already have their endorsement deal with the site and in their contracts there are stipulations that give them different incentives based on their finish.
When will the next promotion start for the ESPN Poker Club, and what will be the prize?
Working on a trip for 2 to ESPN HQ to see a taping of Inside Deal...not secured yet though.
Sorry for the delay on the next promo.
Basebaldy tweeted that he had an ESPN interview coming up - is he getting some Network time? His WPT Championship coverage was very favorable.
Yep. We interviewed him yesterday and he'll actually be featured in ESPN The Magazine this week.
did Hellmuth give a TV worthy tirade when he got eliminated?
Nope. Shook hands, said good luck and walked away. The New Phil Hellmuth.
Speaking of drinking, are drinks still free and are there waitresses constantly for drinks, water, food, etc... or do you have to use your friends, breaks, and backpacks?
Waiters are bringing around drinks. If you want food, you are on your own to get it.
Since you are there to cover the event, how many table arguments, cheating allegations, etc. really go on in a tournament that big?
Not much along the lines of cheating, but definitely a couple arguments from time to time. Minimum five a day.
Sorry - I meant if all 9 were represented by FT/PS - would they just force 3 to switch branding?
Oh, gotcha. It would probably be something where FT pros would wear Full Tilt Academy and PS Pros would figure something else out. This hasn't been the problem in the past, so we'll see how it plays out this year.
If you won the media event, would you immediately ask if it was the Year of the Andrew Feldmans?
No. It is not my year.
Most write-ups have said that Ivey lost a QQ vs. KK hand and then was gone not too much later. Was it that he had so few chips so he had to take risks to accumulate, or could it be that even the great ones can tilt once in a while?
He was down to 1K after the beat. He basically had to put it in blind at that pt (blinds were 250/500 w/I believe a 25 ante.
What would be the potential to happen say a known online cheater made it to the FT. Would they get a sponsership from one of these Major sites. Say Mark Telscher Aka TheV0id would Pokerstars or Full Tilt really want him representing them?
There are some players that sites just won't represent no matter what. I'm sure someone would pick the player up though.
I've heard that the money bubble at the WSOP ME can be really long. I know it might not solve the problem entirely, but has the WSOP ever considered withholding some prize money (like 50,000) from the prize pool to put toward a second chance freeroll for the last 100 players who bust before the money bubble? Sure, a few will end up making more than they would've had they min cashed, but I think it's a win-win for everyone, no?
They used to grab the 10 players within the bubble to play in a sit-and-go for a main event seat the following year, but really, if we start giving money out to the next 100, the real bubble starts even higher and then what are we going to say about the person on that bubble? Slippery slope if we start being creative with added money/incentives at bubble time.
How many from last years November 9 are left?
I believe 2: Cada and Buchman.
Ok so I am new to the game what exactly is considered a bad beat? My brother says its when someone plays a hand against you in a bad way such as calling a raise with say 10-2 and hitting trip dueces to your AA. He says that getting it all in with KK vs AA is not really a bad beat but poker luck. I would like to know your opinion? Thanks
Your brother is pretty much on right there. KK losing to AA is just getting cold decked, it's a cooler, but it's not a bad beat. Taking a bad beat is usually referenced when an inferior hand sucks out on a better hand.
Do you think the structure needs to be faster to start and slower towards to end to reward people who make it far and give more play?
I think the structure is great this year. It provides those a lot of play at both the beginning and end. If you're putting up $10K, the last thing you'd want is a fast structure at the beginning (which it used to be) so that you'd need to press early.
Is it true former November 9er Antoine Saout didnt play the Main Event this year due to being broke?
He played, made Day 2 and I interviewed him in a video the other day on ESPN.com.
How do they decide who plays on the feature tables?
The producers look at the table draws and figure out which one would be best for TV.
We already know when you think we will hit the money. How many Mizrachi's do you think will make the money? Over/under at 3, as they are doing pretty well? And how many former Main Event champs do you think will make the money?
You should've set the line at 2.5. I'll take 3 Mizrachis in the money. I think 2 former world champions will also make the money.
OK, thanks for all the questions today. I'll speak to everyone tomorrow! Same time - 4 p.m. ET. Have a great Monday.
