Welcome to Day 4! We've lost over 100 players so far today and we're just a couple hundred players away from the money bubble...Send in the questions and let's get started
What is your latest thought on how many Mizrachi brothers cash seeing as how they're all still in?
Maybe 2. I think except for Robert, they're all basically short right now with below-average stacks.
Hi Andrew how's Vegas hope you will be talking about me next year... If Bernard Lee won the Main Event do you think he would Quit Espn? Lol...
Hahaha. I have no idea. I'm sure he'd consider it, but really, this is the man that loves being everywhere and anywhere. He'll stay in the spotlight even if were to win the main.
How many people have hit the rail since play started today?
At least 100. Maybe 130.
Thoughts on new WSOP-C schedule?
I think Harrah's made the right decision by making these changes and it will really help to bring the Circuit back to life. I'm looking forward to seeing the number of players grow this year even at the more remote locations.
Have they fixed when the breaks are so that there aren't breaks after an hour of play, or are they still on the schedule that was started on Day 2A?
Same schedule. Breaks are now mid-way through each level.
Basebaldy is the man. That is all.
Truth. He wanted to stay under the radar. Nope.
When does ESPN coverage of the 2010 WSOP start? When does ME coverage begin?
July 20th is the WSOP preview show. The main event begins on August 10th.
Regarding the WSOP Circuit events, it seems like standardizing the structures, adding TV tournaments, and the new POY competition is going to give the WPT and NAPT a run for their money (assuming the changes work out). What are your thoughts on the WSOP Circuit changes?
They still don't have online qualification
When looking at the ridiculous aggression-- I don't think the media is considering where most of these players are coming from. Most local live tourneys (and online) give very little starting chips and way too fast structures-- the play is a by-product of being forced to play this way so often and they don't understand how to adjust.
I've accepted it at this point. It's just the style of the main event and there's really not much surprise to it anymore. I admit that I'll bring it up in blogs and such, but it's the way the field is playing out this year...as well as over the past few years. You've got a great point though in terms of how they've reached the event. Turbo home games are definitely the thing.
Why is the WPT holding a tournament during the WSOP ?
To try and capitalize on everyone in town. They had registration open for three days just in case players bust out and want to play more. I don't know...I always think about that too and just wonder if they think that event will get any real-time exposure.
Can I echo Jeff from Tuscaloosa's statement on Basebaldy? He's egoless, well-spoken, friendly, humble, and funny. This man needs to be on TV more!
Was on our Day 3 recap last night on ESPN.com (and the podcast): http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=5375536
I remember reading in some WSOP update (your ESPN blog, perhaps?) that a 21 year old had entered on Day 1D, the day after he turned 21. Is he still in, and if not, do you know when he got knocked out?
He is still in as far as I know. He had over 300K at dinner break last night.
Are Chan and Nguyen the only past winners still in the Main Event?
Dan Harrington too
More Lauren Kiling updates (including pictures)
Coming right up
Johnny Chan seems to do very little to promote himself in the US. If it weren't for Rounders, in what regard would be be held?
He doesn't need to promote himself at all. He said it in at column earlier this week that he's been there and done that. Everyone knows what he's accomplished and so getting himself out there and being in the spotlight even more isn't necessary for him. With or without rounders, you'd know Chan's legacy if the same poker boom occurred.
If the PPA happens to be influential and somehow make on-line gambling legal in the states. Where do you see WSOP going in the future? 20,000+ Main Event Entrants?
Not immediately...I think 10K would be the first goal to reach, but even with legalization, I'm not sure we'd get there immediately.
in an office where all non-ESPN poker sites are blocked, any big name eliminations yet today?
Barry Shulman, Blair Rodman, JJ Liu, Dewey Tomko...
Do you know if there's a new Pokerstars Big Game episode this week? Last week was a "Best Of" series.
I don't know if there is a new one coming out, but I do know they are taping again really soon.
Goossens apparently had his hotel room taken care of by the site, but not the flight. Also, he won a satellite, he didn't "pay $10,000".
Even if you win a satellite, you pay $10,000.
Varkonyi was still in to start the day as well.
Good catch...always forget him...shockingly.
Anyone in the ME still able to win POY with a deep run?
It's either Grinder or Kassela at this point. Expect a big announcement if/when Grinder goes out.
next new pokerstars big game is on Aug 9
and there you go.
Any news yet on what happened to Jack Ury?
I really haven't heard anything. I'll do some digging with the WSOP staff and see if they know anything more.
How big would a Hank Azaria ME win be?
It would be kind of awesome. When I was interviewing him last night all I could hear is chief wiggum.
You don't pay $10k if you are a foreigner, as the registrations can come directly from those foreign sites.
Yeah yeah...details details...
Around what time do you think it will take to reach the money?
I said 6:15 this morning. We're down to 1,071 players left, so we need to drop 300 more in order to make the money.
Somebody please pick Gavin Smith to win this thing.
Just doubled. I think he's at his high point of the day.
http://www.pokernews.com/live-reporting/2010-wsop/main-event/chips.htmIt says he busted...unless it's a typo which is obviously possible.
It looks like Billy Koop didn't make it out of Day 3. Was he at least not drawing dead this time when he was eliminated?
Well, he did have 1 out. He ran AA into 88 on a 88AXX board...
Why are you sad or pissed in your picture?
I took that picture six years ago. I need to take a new one. I have no idea how I was feeling on that day.
Every time I've seen Johnny Chan on TV (granted, not much lately), all he DOES is promote himself and whatever product he's hawking. Not sure what Scott from Dallas is seeing.
He's promoting All-in energy drinks, which, I believe isn't even around anymore. Maybe it's a lucky hat.
Over/under on bust-outs in the first hour after the bubble? 100?
Well over. However, if the bubble happens at the end of the night, players will go to sleep, then come back and play. We'll lose a lot less if that's the case.
So is the Orient Express back to just running through people, playing off image.. or is just playing solid.. getting cards? Johnny F'n Chan
Running through. The only player that really put up a fight was Brikis who had a similar stack at the end of the day.
Didn't hear anything about Wasicka this year. I know he played the ME, but did he make any noise at all at this WSOP?
Went out yesterday. Sucked out a few times, lost a race and busted.
Check your link again. It says Gavin has 80000 in chips.
Gavin is at feature...a lot of times players there don't get constant chip count updates.
Lacey Jones - best twipic'er ever...
Any updates on Shannor Shorr and the way he is playing?
I had the chance to watch him a bit yesterday and he really was being patient. A player at his table was ribbing him telling him how he reads his blog and how he went broke and Shannon just gave him a death stare and said, "I went broke?" He seems to just be enjoying the moment...
Love the coverage. Was surprised when I saw Harrington was still alive. Doesn't seem like he's been getting much coverage the past few days. Thoughts on why?
Dan just hasn't had a big stack at any point through this tournament. He's at feature today though so we're going to see a lot of him on TV. Also, he's really too quiet! Taking nothing away from his game, his media presence at times isn't always the best.
How many women are left in the tournament?
Too early to ask that question since it's impossible to determine with the field over 1000 players. Definitely a good amount though.
Andrew, what is up with Bernie (Lee)? He has not updated anything on Twitter this afternoon.
Bernie is in ultra-serious mode which is the complete opposite of how he's been the first couple days. I don't think the pressure is getting to him, but he definitely has tightened up so far today.
bigger letdown? dwan or annette?
Annette. Dwan didn't win a bracelet, but he finished second early in the series.
Who is making the biggest moves early so far today? Any notables eliminated so far today?
Adam "Roothlus" Levy has already added to his stack and is up near 440K. Lodden has also jumped over the 700K mark
Any update on Phil Galfond? I would love to see OMGcladyAiken go deep this year.
Nothing much so far today. would be an interesting story to see him go deep.
how many questions or comments do you laugh at, but know you just cannot post?
at least 40 a chat.
Are you suprised that Adam Schoenfeld is still around?
Are you here? I just said. Wait, Adam Schoenfeld is still around?
How is Isildur1 doing?
Awesome. Really killin it. Or not. We don't know.
Next yr you are heads-up in the Horse event, are you going to be one of those that says the bracelet is more important than the money?
That's optimism. Yeah, I'll still say the bracelet is more important. No 1,500 HORSE event win would really be life changing money
Heading to Vegas on Thurs/Friday for the first time. When should I show up to the WSOP? Is there a huge line to battle to get in? Any particular time that's considered peak to show up?
Just head to the Amazon Room at the Rio. At that point, there won't be many tables left, so hopefully there wlll be plenty of room for you to get a glimpse of the action.
Guy just screamed out in here. Looking forward to seeing him get a penalty.
How was Salty so subdued for the Inside Deal?
He said he was on 2 hrs sleep after partying the night before.
Two more questions then blog time...
The ME structure is the same as last year's, how is it flatter?
I think when we were talking about that on the Poker Edge, I meant pay structure, but Gary took it as level structure.
How many of these questions do you send in yourself? There is NO way this many people follow your chat.
0. Pretty amazing huh?
Will the ESPN coverage make reference to "Lodden thinks"? Please tell me yes.
I really hope so. I've asked the TV crew about it already, but the one thing that can wrap it up is if he makes the Nov 9.
Thanks for all the questions today! Have a great Tuesday and speak to everyone on Day 5!
