Chat with Ohm Youngmisuk

Ohm
  (2:03 PM)

Wud up guys! Thanks for joining the chat! Let's get this thing started. I may have to leave for like four minutes at 2:15 for a radio interview with 1050 NY but I will be back on right after the interview is done so keep sending your questions!

Vinh (DC)

For your birthday, did you party like Plax, go to a club and drop a loaded gun from your sweatpants?

Ohm
  (2:04 PM)

Hey Vinh. Thanks for the birthday shout out. Nah, kept it low key here in Albany. Went out with a few other writers. Now later this weekend when we are back in NYC... look out! LOL.

The Duke (The Dirty Jersey)

O-Dawg, Are the Giants just trying to save Jacobs and his bulldozing knees, because I think our running game is at its best, when he comes in first and softens the defense......any Reby Sky sightings? ha!

Ohm
  (2:05 PM)

Duke. Wud up my man? You know, I'd like to think they are saving Jacobs but the whole Bradshaw getting the first carry thing for the majority of camp is curious. I don't like to read too much into what a coach is trying to do because you can never really get into their head. But I definitely think there will be a lot of Jacobs and Bradshaw this season. No Reby Sky sightings...

Shakoor (Newark,NJ)

Wassup Ohm How is Keith Bulluck looking in camp and will he be starting over Goff come regular season?

Ohm
  (2:07 PM)

Tupac Shakoor... KB has been working with the second team thus far. He says it's scary how good his knee feels. So far, Goff is the man but I expect Bulluck to be the starter if the knee holds up by the season opener. For more on Bulluck, check this out: http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/news/story?id=5452587

Bryan (Ohio)

This team passed the ball a lot last year due to the running game troubles and being down in games. How does this team look?; Are they going to be more balanced or leaning towards one option often? I'm also curious as to how Nicks looks?

Ohm
  (2:08 PM)

B, hard to get a gauge on how the offense will be -- especially the running game because there is no tackling thus far. It often appears the defense is stuffing the run but again, no tackling. The defense is looking good. Offensively, the O-line has had its ups and downs. There are banged up already so we haven't seen the O-line together, healthy. But expect the Giants to run plenty. Coughlin wants to get back to being balanced. Not as pass heavy.

Edward (long Island)

Do you think barden has a chance to have be a deep threat in the same way plax was??

Ohm
  (2:10 PM)

E, not for a while. I think he has looked good in camp thus far and has put together some good practices. But he has to be consistent and run good routes and block and come off the line of scrimmage well to get more snaps. I think you will see him out there on Sundays but as far as that deep threat, I don't see him becoming deep threat like Plax on a regular basis like that anytime soon.

JB (New York)

How do you see the Giants' linebackers performing this year? It appears to me they'll struggle, however everything in camp seems to be status quo at each position.

Ohm
  (2:11 PM)

JB, still very early but I will tell you this... I think the D-line is going to be nice. The defensive ends and defensive tackles have been impressive. Of course, the offensive line is banged up but if that D-line plays well, the linebackers' jobs will be easier. Got to see how Bulluck looks with first team when he moves up as well. I think Boley will be solid. Sintim has to be solid.

Shakoor (Newark,NJ)

Hey Ohm wassup with chris snee left knee is it serious?

Ohm
  (2:12 PM)

Snee wasn't saying much. Coughlin said it is something that will have to be monitored. He had it wrapped and did not practice in the morning session. Probably won't practice later today either.

Ohm
  (2:12 PM)

Snee did say it was "camp soreness."

Kenny Phillips Knee (NJ)

Yo Ohm! How you doing bro? I'm not giving Kenny any problems now, am I? Personally, I feel pretty good. What has Kenny been saying about me?

Ohm
  (2:13 PM)

Kenny says it is doing well and he's not thinking about you. Still, Giants taking it slow and letting Phillips play two snaps at a time. He is still figuring out what he can and can't do. But give it time.

Hal Smolanoff (Edison, NJ)

Sounds like Derrick Hagan is having a great training camp. Where does he figure in the WR rotation?

Ohm
  (2:14 PM)

Hal, Hagan rarely ever drops a pass. But he has guys ahead of him. Smith, Nicks, Manningham, Barden and maybe even S. Moss. And now he has competition as well from Victor Cruz, who has looked good in camp. Will blog about him later. But Hagan plays special teams. Still, he's probably fifth at best in rotation.

giantfan (NY - YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT!)

What numbers do you think Eli and Hakeem will post this season? Thanks!

Ohm
  (2:15 PM)

I don't expect Eli to put up the same numbers as last year. I know, he will be better and the receivers are one year older but the offense will run a lot more. Nicks should increase his stats if he can stay healthy.

Ohm
  (2:16 PM)

Got to step away for just a few moments to do ESPN 1050 AM. Will be right back. Don't leave... I will try to get to as many questions as I can. Hang in there for a second, play some Biggie and I will be back in 2 seconds...

Ohm
  (2:22 PM)

I'm back

Steve (Queens, NY)

Whats the word homeboy? You need to bump that It Was Written album if you haven't heard it in a while. Makes me mad hip hop can't be like that anymore. Anyway, How does Sintim look with the first team? I know he's been holding it down, but haven't heard if he has been doing an ok or above average job with it.

Ohm
  (2:23 PM)

Steve, you are right, I'll check it out. Hip hop will never be the same... the golden era of late 80's and early 90's is over. Now you got to listen in at 12-1 on stations for Old School or on the weekends. Sintim has been solid, not spectacular. Again, it's early but I haven't really noticed anything out of the ordinary with Sintim which I think is probably good. The D-Line has looked solid and that will help him a lot.

Andiamo708 (NYC)

Ohm...I hear Petrus is looking good....thoughts? .I've basically gave up on DJ Johnson as well.....does he have any redeeming qualities at all??? Other than making me look bad??? .Is there any chance Busing makes this team instead of Michael Johnson?

Ohm
  (2:25 PM)

Hey man! Petrus has been getting more and more snaps at G with Seubert and Snee injuries. He has been OK, had some moments. But I don't think they want Petrus seeing time this early. Need to get those starters healthy. As far as Busing, it's going to be tough. M. Johnson is definitely making the team and then you got four safeties. They could keep one more because of Phillips' knee injury. So stay tuned.

Mike (Tallahassee)

Any word on how Goff's playing so far this preseason? All I hear is about Bullock, but he's been second team so far.

Ohm
  (2:26 PM)

Goff is doing a solid job. He's been making the calls and getting all the reps with the first team. Bulluck has been with the 2's. Still think Bulluck will be the starter in the end.

Scott (New York City)

What's with this "NASCAR defense" you keep referring to? Can you explain it?

Ohm
  (2:28 PM)

Scott, I've explained it in the blog but really it's four defensive ends up front. Sometimes they have them all standing up and moving around on the line to create confusion. At times, two defensive ends will drop back in coverage and the linebackers and/or a corner will blitz. But the NASCAR lineup is because they got their speed defensive ends out there up front and it's for passing situations.

bill (west chester)

yo ohm do you think some of the people who are sitting out are more precautionary... if this was the regular season would some of theses people be playing?

Ohm
  (2:29 PM)

Bill, I do think a lot of those sitting out is for precautionary reasons. Kevin Boss says he tweaked his hamstring and wants to get out there but the team is being conservative. And the team is doing that with many of the guys. I think if this were the season opener, most would be suiting up.

gmanbb44 (sparta)

is it looking like beaty is going to need another year?

Ohm
  (2:30 PM)

GMan... Could be. Beatty is still very much in learning mode. But he is getting reps out there. But in the end, I see the same 5 starting if healthy.

DC (PA)

Hey Ohm! Do you think Jacobs will accept a back up role, since it's looking like Bradshaw is getting the majority of the first team reps? Thanks.

Ohm
  (2:31 PM)

DC, I don't think Jacobs will be a backup, even if Bradshaw starts. I know that doesn't make sense but I think the two running backs will split the load. Still think Jacobs will be the starter. Now if they go with one of those ride the hot back thing and Bradshaw is hot, then that could be tough for Jacobs. I think it's still very much a two-headed monster.

JR (Kentucky)

Hey Ohm, what's up buddy? What group has been the most pleasant surprise in camp so far?

Ohm
  (2:32 PM)

JR, if you are a Giants fan, be excited about the defensive line. The DTs have looked good. Canty is huge and having a strong camp. Cofield is doing his thing. Rookie Linval Joseph has made plays and will have an impact. Jay Alford and Rocky Bernard also see snaps and are doing damage. The DTs will be solid this season.

andrew (nj)

is jpp looking like a bust or what?

Ohm
  (2:33 PM)

Andrew, Nah. JPP shows every now and then flashes of how good he can be. He broke through a double team this morning and he is getting better. I don't see bust... not yet. Gonna have to judge him after a couple of years.

Mitch (LA)

Waddup Big Ohm! What player on offense and defense has stood out the most for the GMEN?

Ohm
  (2:34 PM)

Mitch, what's going on? Offensively... Barden has made some plays but has a ways to go to get regular snaps. Defensively... Antrel Rolle, Aaron Ross, Chris Canty, Dave Tollefson... several defensive players.

dustin (rochester)

Havent heard much on justin tuck in training camp. Does he look healthy and has he been effective against the o-line thus far?

Ohm
  (2:35 PM)

Tuck is pacing himself and he will be fine. In fact, he said he can "be awesome" when he wants to be. Love that dude. Such a good guy. He is fine and will be fine. Nothing to worry about with Tuck. Just a smart vet. When Tuck plays, he gets in there and gets in the backfield. He says it's been difficult getting a feel with two reps at a time and then the rotation in and out while the defense tries out different things.

Bryan (NY)

I thought Rex lost some weight? That's still one big man

Ohm
  (2:36 PM)

I think he has but I haven't been at Jets camp. Gonna have to watch Hard Knocks but he looks like he lost weight in the face.

dustin (rochester)

who do you think will be starting at dt next to canty?

Ohm
  (2:36 PM)

Dustin... Barry Cofield has been starting next to Canty.

dani (ny)

it looks like bomar having a good camp is there any cnahce he has a show to win the job with good preseason games

Ohm
  (2:37 PM)

Dani, I think you are talking about the backup job. Well, he has had more moments than Jim Sorgi but I still think Sorgi will be the backup once he learns the offense.

Jeremy (Rockland)

Ohm! Been loving the formation stuff, NASCAR, BIG BASE, etc. any chance we see all 5 DE's plus Sintim on the field at the same time getting after a QB? What would you call that formation?

Ohm
  (2:39 PM)

Hmm... I don't know about that but they have had Kiwi, Tollefson and Osi play linebacker some... In like some formations, they have just one real linebacker out there. What would I call a five defensive end formation? A nightmare. Because it could be one for the opposing quarterback or one for Perry Fewell if their defensive ends get beat at linebacker.

Ryan (NY)

Have you gone out to any bars in Albany?

Ohm
  (2:39 PM)

Ryan, none. By the time we get back, it's usually around 9... been keeping it low key.

Snooki (Jersey Shore)

We had just started flirting last week and you signed off... I'm single again if you're interested

Ohm
  (2:40 PM)

Snooks, do I have to bail you out first?

Clay (Charlotte)

Trying to get over some "work boreness", Sanchise...worst nickname in sports?

Ohm
  (2:40 PM)

C, I actually like "Sanchise."

patrick (spring valley ny)

how does keith bullock really look out there and is bradshaw really gonna b the number 1

Ohm
  (2:41 PM)

Bulluck is moving alright and being physical -- as physical as you can be in non-contact, he kind of hits running backs a bit to make sure they know he is there -- but he is taking it slow. Working with second team. Bradshaw has been taking the majority of the first carry for a RB but I still think Jacobs will be the starter.

gmanbb44 (wishing i was in albany)

Who do you like for rb #3

Ohm
  (2:42 PM)

I like Andre Brown to emerge... Been catching balls out of the backfield well and running hard. I just wonder if he can pick up blocks on third downs...

jim (nyc)

I"ve heard and read you call a-fraud 'a-god'. How can anyone take you serious? He's been a polarizing, insecure, dramatic, embarrassing cheater, and he's a "god"? Sad that people still hold him on some weird level when he's a cheat.

Ohm
  (2:43 PM)

Jim, take it easy my friend. I just like defending A-Rod because he is an easy target for others. Plus he dates celebs and is always making headlines. He's fun to talk about.

Waldo (Africa)

If Eli Manning misses any significant portion of the season, do the Giants think they can realistically compete with Rhett Bomar?

Ohm
  (2:44 PM)

Waldo, are you really in Africa? If Eli misses any significant amount of portion of the season two things will happen: A) Jim Sorgi will be your quarterback. And B) No offense to Sorgi, but the Giants will be in trouble.

Billy (DC)

I don't think Woody Johnson understands how expensive it is to own your own private island

Ohm
  (2:44 PM)

Now that was a good one Billy. Yeah, I mean, you need a private plane to fly to Revis Island, that is, if you get clearance.

Bryan (NY)

Who would win in a fight: Rex Ryan or Andy Reid?

Ohm
  (2:45 PM)

Rex. Hands down. I'll take Rex in almost any fight.

JRowe (jersey shore baby!)

are you as nervous about Dodge punting as i am? i miss Feagles already

Ohm
  (2:46 PM)

JRowe, I understand how you are feeling. Dodge can boot them. But hangtime is a questionmark. And when the bullets start flying, a rookie punter can shank them. But hey, Feagles had to retire someday.

The Duke (The Dirty Jersey)

How is Tim Brown doing? I would love to have another Scarlet Knight on the team!

Ohm
  (2:47 PM)

Duke, TBrown is doing well. Makes tough catches. Fast as hell and has looked good on special teams which is his route onto the roster. Gonna be tough for him to make it though, can't lie. Especially if Victor Cruz keeps practicing well.

Darrelle Revis (Parts Unknown)

Since Rex says the Jets don't need to win a Super Bowl (haha, ok)... my next move is asking for a trade, would Webster, Osi plus a 1st rounder land me w/ Big Blue?

Ohm
  (2:48 PM)

Don't see that happening at all... I can't see Revis playing for somebody else.

Rigidy (Hartford)

Hey, contact some people at EA games and ask them how they could leave Dillard out of the game. Pure disrespect torward someone that Giants fans are looking forward to seeing on the field.

Ohm
  (2:48 PM)

Really? Dillard isn't in Madden? Come on! No way.

JR (Kentucky)

Hey Ohm, huge Giants fan stuck living in Bengals country....if he stays healthy will Linval Joseph play more than 50% of the snaps at DT this year?

Ohm
  (2:49 PM)

I don't see 50% but he will get his time. Crowded situation at DT. But Linval is my pick for rookie with biggest impact.

Africa (Brooklyn)

I see football is dominating this board but if you could squeeze it in, is there any chance the Knicks get the 7 seed?

Ohm
  (2:51 PM)

Africa from Brooklyn... There's a chance. I think I got these teams ahead of Knicks for sure in the playoff race in East: Heat, Magic, Celtics, Bulls, Hawks... then maybe Hornets. Rest is for Knicks to scrap for with the other East teams.

phillip (lawrence)

is mathias kiwanuka going to see alot of snaps at linebacker during the season and who do u think will be the starting three?

Ohm
  (2:52 PM)

I think he may see some. Not a lot. Kiwi has been working at linebacker the last few days on a few snaps. He's still a DE but he and Tollefson are seeing snaps at LB when they go heavy with "defensive ends gone wild" alignment.

Ohm
  (2:52 PM)

Actually, the alignment when Kiwi plays LB is "Big Base" and that has Canty at DE with Tuck and then Bernard and Cofield inside.

gmanbb44 (wishing i was in albany)

will the giants beat the jets monday night?

Ohm
  (2:53 PM)

I'm thinking Jets win...

Jeremy (Rockland)

Ohm, would it help Jacobs if the Giants ran the ball more out of a 4 Wide set? that way less linebackers diving at his legs and more DB's on the field for him to run over!

Ohm
  (2:54 PM)

Nah, he needs the big guys blocking up front to spring him. Just got to get him to the second level so he can truck those DBs.

Jason (Richmond, va)

any word on Clint Sintim? i rarely read anything on him

Ohm
  (2:54 PM)

J, haven't had time to write on Sintim yet. Will soon. He has been solid if not spectacular. Hasn't done anything wrong that I have seen but hard to tell in non-contact drills. Still early but he will be starting.

AM (Hobo)

Don't sleep on Goff, He can be an anchor, Bullock is only around for a season, Goff will be the long haul

Ohm
  (2:55 PM)

AM, you are right, Goff is probably the guy for the future. But for now, still think it's Bulluck.

Eddie (Hoboken, NJ)

Should I light myself on fire now that Isiah is back? How long is it before he takes control again and muddles the roster with every bad contract in basketball?

Ohm
  (2:55 PM)

Need a hand with that light?

Bryan (NY)

I told my boss today that I wasn't happy making $35K a year, so I'm going to hold out for $50K... I got fired

Ohm
  (2:56 PM)

B, who's your agent? And do you go by Bryan Island at work?

phillip (lawrence)

who should be taken first in a fantasy jacobs or bradshaw?

Ohm
  (2:57 PM)

P... if I were you, stay away from Giants backs. Unless you like trying to figure out every week who to play. If you have to take one, handcuff the other. But stay away... those two-back systems will drive you nuts.

Ohm Rox (NY )

Which Giant DB do you think steps up this year?

Ohm
  (2:57 PM)

I like what I am seeing from A. Ross. T. Thomas has been solid. Look out for B. Johnson.

Dom (new york)

who is winning the starting job osi or mathias?

Ohm
  (2:58 PM)

Still a hard one but Kiwi is having a good camp. Osi has looked good rushing the quarterback off the edge and getting the better of the tackles but Kiwi is all over the place and versatile.

dustin (rochester)

if both are 100%, who has more int's this year rolle or phillips?

Ohm
  (2:58 PM)

Oooh... tough question. Geez. I am going to go with Rolle because Phillips is still coming back off almost a year off.

IT WILL ALWAYS BE GIANTS STADIUM! (NY)

Do the gmen make the playoffs?

Ohm
  (2:59 PM)

YES! 10-6 IS MY PREDICTION.

dustin (rochester)

has pascoe looked as good as reports seem to indicate?

Ohm
  (2:59 PM)

yes, but he is the only TE who is healthy. He can catch though. Good hands. Surprisingly good hands.

Jeremy (Rockland)

Can Travis Beckham be the Giants' Chris Cooley?

Ohm
  (3:00 PM)

Well, like Cooley, he has been hurt a bit. He probably won't see as much playing time to be as good a receiver as Cooley. Remember, Beckum still has Boss ahead of him and Beckum has to block better and do other things to get on the field. And he is nursing a hamstring injury now.

Ohm
  (3:02 PM)

Alright you guys... gotta run and write some more. Check out the blog, might answer some of your questions every day. And I will update you guys with other things from the afternoon practice. Holla at your boy later! Peace.
