Good morning from steamy Kansas City. Sorry I'm a little late but I'm ready to go a little overtime if necessary. Let's talk some Yankees
Do the Yankees have any big September call-ups we should keep an eye out for this year?
Hey, Eric from Enemy Territory: I think aside from the guys we've already seen, like Curtiz and Russo and Miranda and Golson, the one everyone wants to see is Montero and maybe Romine. We'll probably see Ivan Nova again as well
Do you think that the Yankees will make any other moves before the August 31st trade deadline? If so do you think they will get Ty Wigginton and or Kevin Millwood from Baltimore and or another arm for the bullpen or another catcher?
Hey, David: At this point I don't see them adding anyone else via trade. I think they would like Ty Wigginton but know they can do without him. Millwood would only be a consideration, I believe, if it takes Pettitte longer than expected to come back from groin injury. and so far, A. Kearns looks like an OK pickup, jury still out on Berkman and Wood
What about Wes Helms do you think he would be a consideration for the Yankees?
Not really, because he would perfrom pretty much the same role they got Berkman for, DH and occasional fill-ins at first. And at his best, Berkman does them better
If Montero has a good showing in september do you think he has a shot at a post season roster spot?
Hello, Lenin: definitely not. Can't see the Yankees entrusting big spots in crucial games to a player as green as Montero. That;s the reason they sent Curtis and Miranda down and replaced them with Kearns and Berkman. The Yankees don;t do on-the-job training
Hey Wally, who are some of the younger Giants or Jets players you're especially looking forward to seeing play?
Craig: been too busy with Yankees this summer to pay much attention yet. The one Jet I am definitely looking to see play is Darrelle Revis. I hear he's pretty good
What about Willie Bloomquist from Kansas City, do you think the Yankees would consider him?
David, I think the Yankees would consider anybody they thought could help them, even K-Rod. (only kidding). I know the Yankees like Bloomquist. IN fact, he's the one who drove CC out of last night;s game because Girardi didn't want him ot have to face him. Not sure KC would be willing to part with him, tho
Hey Wally, With Swish being in a contract year and having a great season, what kind of numbers do you think we are looking at paying him next year? And since we both agree that we will be going after Crawford, do you think that means that Granderson is the one that would have to be traded? I hope he comes around and gets a big post season.
Hey, Randy: actually, Swisher;s signed through next year for $9 millin, plus there's a club option for 2012 at $10.25 M. So it's not an issue yet. I think the Yankees would love to move Granderson but his salary --$8.25M next year $10M in '12--makes it an issue. I'm sure the Yankees would prefer to dump him and keep Gardner, who makes the minimum and it will be interesting to see how th emanage it. But I agree Carl Crawford is on his way here, already being measured for pinstripes
In Madden 11 The Packers and Patriots are the best teams, do you think it will be like that inreal life?
What's a Madden 11?
Thanks, guys, gotta run. sorry if I didn;t get to everything. We'll try it again next week. meantime, follow the live blog of Yankees-Royals tonight and follow me on Twitter
