Chat with Ohm Youngmisuk

Ohm
  (1:31 PM)

Wud up guys. Let's get this thing cracking. Send me your questions. May be a more abbreviated version of our normal chat since I got a radio interview at 2:15 or so.

Pickles Johnson (Dill City, Oklahoma)

Hey Ohm. If there is a silver lining to the lack of TE's its that some defensive players are getting a crack at TE. Can you envision any scenario that they would use a Tollefson as a TE in a RHINO package at the goalline. If anything it may get the opposing defense something to think about and would they actually consider doing it. Thanks. Tonight can't come soon enough.

Ohm
  (1:32 PM)

I can definitely see Tollefson maybe getting a snap at TE. Not sure if it will happen but in practice recently on scout team stuff, Tollefson saw some TE action. Coughlin used a linebacker, safety, offensive lineman and two defensive ends at TE.

Hal Smolanoff (Edison, NJ)

Love the Twitter updates! Feel like I'm at training camp. Sounds like Canty is having a great camp. Do we see the same guy that tore it up on the Cowboys? Who wins the starting job at corner, Ross or T2?

Ohm
  (1:33 PM)

Hal, thanks homeboy. Appreciate it. Canty is having a great camp. Healthy, in great shape, and a monster inside. He is so big. Can move from inside to outside at DE. I think with Tuck and Cofield next to him and Osi or Kiwi, Canty is going to have a nice season. As for corner, it's going to be a battle. Too early to tell.

Inder (Richmond Hill,NY)

Who will play the safety position after starters go out?

Ohm
  (1:34 PM)

Inder, you are looking at probably Michael Greco, John Busing, Sha'reff Rashad. I think Michael Johnson has had back spasms so he may not be available. We'll know more later.

bucknasty (dtown,PA)

how much time will our 1st team D play tonight????considering new players, new DC and new scheme........I'm hoping to see them gel together and remember that communication is the KEY!!!!!!

Ohm
  (1:35 PM)

No more than a quarter. Could be less. Communicatin will be better. Fewell has been harping on it all camp long. You will be fine.

Dennis (New London CT)

Whats up homeslice. Do you think we'll see any of the new formations tonight? or anytime this preseason? (you know Big Base, NASCAR, etc.)

Ohm
  (1:38 PM)

D, I sure hope we do. It's a lot of fun seeing what Perry Fewell can do with this defense, lining up Kiwi at linebacker, Osi dropping back at linebacker (although you really want to see him rush because he looks a bit like the old Osi at times). NASCAR is a lot of fun! The four defense ends up front... it's a hot look!

Nate (San Antonio, TX)

Ohm, who you got tonight? Jets or Giants?

Ohm
  (1:39 PM)

Nate, I am going Jets. Even though we are talking largely second and third teams playing each other, I think the Giants' second and third team offenses need to look sharper.

kevin (nyc)

Ohm I heard you on Jody and Brandon saying that you believe the defensive line and the safeties of the Jets are better than the Giants how do you figure when you have multiple pro bowls on the giants on dline and what really have the safeties of the Jets done at least Rolle has been to a pro bowl

Ohm
  (1:41 PM)

Kev, I recall being asked which wide receiver corps would I take and I said Jets. And as far as which defense overall is better, I said Jets. I definitely give the defensive line of the Giants the upper hand and safeties as well. Corners is a different story. Jets have the upperhand there when Revis returns. But as far as just comparing defensive lines and safeties alone, just those groups, Giants have the upper hand. But defenses overall, Jets have the better defense.

Andi (NYC)

Whad up Young. (that's my new name for you). who are you most interested in watching tonight on the Giants?

Ohm
  (1:41 PM)

Andi, wud up kid. Ramses Barden. Could start tonight, he tweeted it in fact which would mean Mario Manningham might sit. Looking forward to seeing the big fella with the first team.

Tom Coughlin (NYC)

Ohm I noticed you were not 5 minutes early to one of the practices last week. You know I don't tolerate lateness. Now drop and give me 20.

Ohm
  (1:42 PM)

Coach, I was coming back from Manhattan and the Hospital for Special Surgery after having an MRI.

kevin (nyc)

Ohm this question has been asked to you in a number of different ways but the answer from you and Adam always confuse me. I have to believe eli's production will go up: 1 because in a number of interviews Coughlin has said he wants eli to take his game to another level in production td's included. Especially when you take into consideration their problems in the redzone

Ohm
  (1:44 PM)

Kev, how can his numbers go up if Coughlin is going to get back to being a more balanced offense? Last year, they abandoned the run. If you want the Giants to win and be successful, you want Eli's consistency, completion percentage and maybe Touchdowns to stay the same or higher. But the numbers should go down because Jacobs and Bradshaw will get the ball more hopefully.

Jeff F. (Albany, NY)

How confident are the giants in their rookie punter and are there any contingency plans if he remains inconsistent?

Ohm
  (1:44 PM)

Jeff, not very confident. But they sound like they are going to ride the rookie.

Newt (Jacksonville)

How has Rhett Bomar looked in camp? Could he give Sorgi a run for the No. 2 job?

Ohm
  (1:45 PM)

Newt, Rhett has looked good at times. Probably sharper than Sorgi but not by much. Kevin Gilbride made it sound like that it would take a major move by Bomar to take that number two spot. Unless Sorgi gets hurt or struggles really bad, it's Sorgi.

Jake (Bergen County, NJ)

Come opening day who will be the starters for the LB's and DB's? And do you think Sintim is ready to hold his ground?

Ohm
  (1:46 PM)

Sintim, Bulluck, Boley at LB's. Webster, Thomas or Ross at corner. I do think Sintim will be able to hold his ground. He appears to be steady there. He doesn't have much competition there as well.

SprungOnSports (Long Island)

How do you think Jacobs and Bradshaw will share the load this season and who's having the better camp?

Ohm
  (1:48 PM)

Jacobs doesn't seem to be getting as many carries as Bradshaw in camp but that might mean the Giants are just trying to keep their big man fresh. Curiously, Bradshaw has gotten the majority of the very first carry in practice so that needs to be monitored. During the season, I see both getting their touches.

dgbklyn (L.I.)

will we see any wildcat tonite form either team?

Ohm
  (1:48 PM)

My money would be if there is wildcat, it's coming from Jets and Brad Smith.

bob (ny)

how will the jets defense do against giants offense?

Ohm
  (1:49 PM)

I think they should do well. Now, remember, no Revis so it will be a different look. But the offensive line for the Giants is not healthy and Snee likely will not play and neither Seubert as well. So take that into consideration. Also, no Steve Smith and Kevin Boss.

RAMSAY (Coral Springs,Fl)

Want to say i am glad your back and i feel NFC East Champs.

Ohm
  (1:50 PM)

Ramsay, who's back? Me? Never left kid. Well, did take a few days off but have to get AC fixed in the joint. I hope each and every one of you has Air Conditioning right now. As for NFC East champs, possible. I still got Boys ahead of Giants.

Ozymandias (Orlando, FL)

How much playing time can we expect to see from Ramses Barden tonight and what are his chances of legitimately cracking into the WR rotation this season?

Ohm
  (1:51 PM)

O, he says he is going to start so he will see first-team reps, likely a quarter at most. I think you will see him this year as the fourth receiver. How many snaps is that? Well, not a lot. But better than last year.

Kenny Phillips Knee (NJ)

I'm ready for tonight Ohm! Little disappointed I will not be able to play, but I will be there cheering everyone on. When will Kenny and I get to see game action? 3rd preseason game? Stop by and say hello if you see me tonight.

Ohm
  (1:52 PM)

KP, I think third game if not the last game. Got to take it slow and make sure that knee is good!

Malik (Queens, NY)

What should we expect out of the O-line? Seems like time and injury is hitting everyone.

Ohm
  (1:53 PM)

Malik, from the Tribe? LOL. The O-line is banged up. But I still think the same old starting five will be the guys when season starts. And I'd really be surprised if they had as bad of a year as they did last year unless injuries linger.

John (Brooklyn)

Ohm someone asked about Barden earlier. I know he might start tonight but how has he looked in camp is he making progress??

Ohm
  (1:54 PM)

John, you get the Barden question for everyone. I think he has looked good, makes his typical awesome catches. And he's gotten a lot of work with all the injuries. But can he be consistent? Get off line of scrimmage well? Run routes hard and right consistently?

Anthony (Boston)

Who will be starting at RB week 1? How about week 8?

Ohm
  (1:54 PM)

Jacobs Week 1. Week 8? The whole team could be injured by then... LOL! I'm saying Jacobs.

Dave (Charlotte)

What up Ohm. I second that bout your tweets!! Do u see Ramses Barden turning into a stud WR in the next 2 years?? Go G Men!!!

Ohm
  (1:55 PM)

D, thanks man. Hard to say. He's got good receivers ahead of him in Smith, Nicks and Manningham. In order for him to be a stud, he hsa to pass Manningham. That won't be easy. But he definitely has potential.

kevin (nyc)

ohm that statement is inaccurate manning's attempts were the second lowest of his career other than 08. His td's were up last year because his comp pct was up. And he had wr's that could go the distance. The other thing is that the only games that he really put it up like that outside of the gameplan was the second eagle game. Other than that he did not put up alot of td's when the team was behind big.

Ohm
  (1:56 PM)

I don't think I said he threw a career-high attempts. What I am saying is, I don't think he will be throwing as much because remember, they went away from the run a lot last season. Jacobs didn't get a single 100-yard game if I remember correctly. How can Eli throw more if they plan to run the ball more?

Jeff (Chicago)

How has Nicks looked so far in camp, has he taken over as the #1 target?

Ohm
  (1:57 PM)

Jeff, Nicks has been in and out with injuries. Steve Smith is the number one guy right now.

Ming (Bronx, NY)

Hey Ohm! Sinorice Moss, wuddup with him?

Ohm
  (1:57 PM)

Ming, injured... he has a groin injury, I believe and hasn't been able to practice. He was doing very well in camp, catching a lot of balls over the middle and fielding punt returns. He needs to get back soon.

John (Brooklyn)

Can Linvell Joseph be a factor stopping the run as a rookie??

Ohm
  (1:58 PM)

John, yes... Linval is a force. But he has Cofield and Canty ahead of him. He will compete with Jay Alford and Rocky Bernard for time. You will see him get snaps.

Jeremy (Rockland)

Ohm, of all the candidates, who do you think is prmed to show us all tonight that he is the return man? Ware, Brown, Ross?

Ohm
  (1:59 PM)

Ross is making moves. Tim Brown did well until he got hurt. But Ross is looking good at times back there on punts.

Brian (Bogota, NJ)

Ohm, can we get an official prediction on the giants' season...wins/losses? division? playoffs?

Ohm
  (2:00 PM)

B, you must be new to the chat. I give a prediction virtually every single chat because I get asked the most. 10-6. Read it here and see a breakdown of each game: http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/columns/story?id=5120275

Matt (DC)

Whats your projected NFC East standings for '10?

Ohm
  (2:01 PM)

Matt, I also break that down here as well. But I have Cowboys, Giants... toss up with Eagles and Redskins. I'll go Redskins with McNabb. http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/columns/story?id=5120275

LeBron (via mobile)

I think Kenny Phillips' knee needs to take its talents to south beach

Ohm
  (2:02 PM)

Between your elbow and KP's knee, South Beach would need too many MRIs...

Anthony (Bergen County)

Hey Ohm, has Aaron Ross been getting any 1st team reps? And do you know how the Giants are going to use him on defense?

Ohm
  (2:02 PM)

He did when TT sat out a few practices. Otherwise, it's been TT as the starting corner opposite Webster. They will use him as the third corner if he doesn't start. Even if he doesn't start, Ross will see plenty of action.

John (Brooklyn)

Ohm if he were healthy would the Giants look at Tim Brown as a punt return option?? He did it at Rutgers

Ohm
  (2:03 PM)

Brown was looking good there. He'd have to make the team as a special teams player and it helped his cause. I didn't see him winning the starting returning spot though.

Mike (Ohio)

Since you dont get to tailgate (well as far as we know, ha), whats your pregame go to meal?

Ohm
  (2:04 PM)

Mike, they serve us food in the media press room. So whatever they got. Try to keep it basic though.

Patrick (PA)

Hi Ohm. You seem to be high on Chris Canty..but think about this: If he were that good, why would my Cowboys let him walk to the Giants?

Ohm
  (2:05 PM)

Pat, I'm not saying he is Albert Haynesworth circa two years ago. But he's healthy and HUGE. He looks good in camp.

Nate (San Antonio, TX)

Ohm, fantasy question. Do you think LT is going to hurt Greene's stats this year?

Ohm
  (2:05 PM)

Nate, I think Greene is still going to get a lot of carries. LT could be more a third-down back. What may hurt is this... who will be used in goal line situations... I wouldn't be surprised to see if LT takes away from Shonn there.

Mice (Lucas Oil Stadium)

Ohm, make sure you eat at our stadium this year!

Ohm
  (2:06 PM)

Probably going to stop and eat at St. Elmos instead. LOL.

DC (PA)

Say Ramses goes nuts tonight, even against the scrubs.... That's got to be enough to get Coach Coughlin to consider him as a valuable piece of the team, right?

Ohm
  (2:07 PM)

Easy DC.... one preseason game isn't going to make Ramses a star. Got to show it on a regular basis. It will definitely help though.

Mike (Ohio)

My apologies for a poorly worded question. I meant when you arent working a game....

Ohm
  (2:07 PM)

Ahh... been trying to a lot of sushi and grilled chicken or grilled turkey lately. Been hard to keep it that way though.

osama (afghan cave)

i got no cable here

Ohm
  (2:08 PM)

Yeah, at least I got cable. But no NFL Network.

Ohm
  (2:09 PM)

Alright guys, thanks for your questions. Got to run and do a radio interview and keep sweating out my no AC apartment. See you guys next week and good luck to your team tonight! Hit me up on Twitter (@NotoriousOHM) or comment on the blog and I will try to get back to you.
