Good morning gang. You all know the drill by now: One hour of fantasy chattage up ahead -- second cup of coffee in hand -- who is up first?
Given a choice for your starting QB, would you prefer Rivers or Farve?
I'd rather have Rivers. I'm not feeling great about Brett's ankle to be honest and I definitely don't think he plays all 16 games.
Who do you go with for your first pick in a 2 QB league / ppr where you can start up 3 WR's? Go with a QB or WR? Which position is shorter on depth this year?
It isn't so much depth as supply and demand... each NFL team has 4-5 WR who will play, and only 1 QB. That means you have to grab a QB early.
Have you ever compiled the numbers on how accurate your daily bits rankings end up being? I have found them to be pretty accurate but wondering what the numbers show?
Thanks. Daily Notes is not an easy task to churn out every day, and quite frankly, there's no time to look back. All it is though is an analysis of the stats, and there's no way it will be 100 percent accurate... if we hit 50 percent, I'd consider that an overwhelming success.
Do you see Aroldis having positive value as a middle reliever in a standard mixed league?
Positive value, sure... but not a lot. I think he'll get an inning here or there, but the Reds aren't going to use him enough to really have an impact.
Matt Ryan or Jay Cutler?
Cutler. He will throw early and often. I think the Falcons will run it more than enough to deflate Ryan's value by comparison.
Jahvid Best, Brandon Jacobs, or Thomas Jones at RB2?
Best is the only one of those three who could shine as RB2, though none are guarantees.
Who would you rather have in a util spot Neil Walker or Geovany Soto? Need Power, AVG, OPS... Thanks
Soto just got hurt, and though it's only a day-to-day situation, it's one that needs to be watched closely. I'll go with Walker.
Are you buying into the Ray Rice hype? Is he worth a first round pick?
It's more than hype... he's one of the five RBs who have no competition for carries, and he can ctach the ball too. He's a top 4 pick easy.
Percy Harvin or Justin Forsett as an every week flex starter?
We'll have to see if the migraine issue is truly under control, because I had Harvin last year, and it was impossible to play him regularly for fear he'd be unable to go. If you can only take one, right now I think it is safer to go with Forsett.
Can I count on Cedric Benson and Jamaal Charles to be every week starters for me?
Injuries aside, I don't see why not. Certainly I'd want to get one of the studs, but there are worse duos to be "stuck" with.
Thoughts on Big Ben? I've been taking him late in drafts. I think that could pay off in dividends.
His skills haven't diminished and he's not hurt... no reason to not take him, as long as you have a guy to go for the first five weeks.
I just picked up Manny off waivers. Is he a better option than Soriano or Abreu for the fantasy playoffs?
Manny is playing for next year's contract. As long as he wants to perform he will, but at the first sign of friction between he and Ozzie, cut him loose, because that will not end well.
Hey AJ. How do you seen the Jets RB timeshare unfolding?
60-40 in favor of Greene until LDT gets hurt.
WILL V.JAX PLAY THIS YEAR?
Only if he sees the goose egg in his bank account and crawls back... I think there's every chance he sits the whole season, though.
Laurent Robinson or Anthony Gonzalez for round 15??
Robinson. I think he's a great talent and I had him ranked highly before Avery's injury. Now, even more so.
Jonathan Stewart is projected around the 60th pick. Is that too high for a DeAngelo handcuff?
He's not a handcuff. It's a two-back system. Toby Gerhart is a handcuff. Bernard Scott is a handcuff. Stewart could well finish top-20 in RBs without Williams getting hurt.
With Jerome Harrison fumbling every preseason game and Hardesty coming back soon. How fast until Harrison loses his job. Also, does it look like Delhomme has and favorite targets?
MoMa is going to be the main target there, though it is anyone's guess as to whether Delhomme's balls will reach him. I think the whole team is to be avoided frankly, save for Cribbs who can do it on his own. Hardesty will get that job by Week 4, if not sooner.
For fantasy baseball playoffs during the next 3 weeks who should get my last OF spot, Alfonso Soriano or Adam Lind?
I'd roll with Soriano.
I drafted both Moss and Welker. Stupid move?
I prefer to spread out my players over multiple teams, but if you're in a PPR where Moss gets all the scores and Welker gets 10 catches a game, you're fine.
How many catches do you expect Jermaine Gresham to get? I'm considering him for a late round sleeper TE.
I think you can expect 45-50 and hope for even more. The VH1 Duo will spread the field and leave that middle wide open for him.
Jose Reyes was just dropped in my league. Should I pick him up in hopes he can help in the stretch run? If so, drop Aybar or Escobar?
With Escobar also hurting, I'd pick up Reyes instead, but I'm not sure Jose even makes it back on the field.
Can I trust Hines as my flex spot until Ben comes back, or do I wait?
I think Ward will be fine as a flex, so long as Wallace can take some of the pressure off. But I do think you should expect a lot of Mendenhall early.
Do you start Heyward in a 10 team league for the playoffs with other options Abreu, Victorino, Delmon Young, Ethier?
Victorino has been horrid over the past few weeks. I'd have no problem sitting him.
Can I trust Clinton Portis as my flex or should I start Zach Miller or Malcom Floyd?
In general, I always go RB over any other position as flex. It's the only spot on the field that the touches are guaranteed.
Dexter McCluster, is it too early to expect surprising numbers from him?
He's an exciting player, but "expecting" anything out of a rookie is premature. Certainly plenty of upside and as a late-round pick, you could do a lot worse.
Is Chris Johnson (of the Astros) droppable in 10 team mixed?
In a shallow league, there are 10 better 3B, yes.
Who ends up with the most fantasy points for NYG backfield?
Bradshaw. I don't like the way Jacobs is running.
Any word on Donovan McNabb? He is my starter until Big Ben returns. Should I be looking elsewhere for a week 1 QB?
You'd be best served by making a contingency plan. I think McNabb is under center Week 1, but the fact he's still not even practicing, should give you a reason to have a Plan B.
Is this the year Felix Jones takes over or will Barber still get most of the carries, particularly at goal line?
I think you get the two-headed beast, with a sprinkling of Tashard's choice. Triple sticks still has value as the vulture.
McCoy=real deal or a poor man's westbrook?
He's not Westbrook. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. B-West was a 30 points one week, 2 the next kind of player. Shady will be a solid 9 each week, but I do worry that Mike Bell might eat away at his value... hard to tell since Bell hasn't been on the field much this preseason.
I got the #4 pick in my draft.. I know AP, CJ, and Rice will be top 3.. Should I trust MJD's knee or take turner?
I have to believe that if MJD's injury was truly serious, we'd know by now. Del Rio says he has not had surgery, so I have to believe this is a rumor gone wild more than anything long-term. Had the coach been silent, I think we'd need to fear.
Rest of season - Pagan or Bruce?
I'd prefer to have an Angel in my outfield.
I'd prefer to have an Angel in my infield.
thoughts on olsen as a 12th rd pick to start at TE?
I think Olsen is too good a receiver to fall victim to the Mike Martz curse at TE.
Ted Lilly or Jaime Garcia ROS?
Lilly, especially as the Cardinals start to fade from the race.
You prefer Alex Gonzalez (atl) or Theriot?
Theriot is batting close to .300 since the deal, I'd stick with him.
should i be worried about morenos hamstring?
Maybe for Week 1, but with Buckhalter also hurt and the other option being LunchDale, I'm sure he'll be the RB1 as soon as he is ready.
With Seattle not really having any legit wideouts, do you see John Carlson putting up some serious numbers this year?
Carlson is a solid TE, but I disagree with your premise. Considering TJ's stats last year with multiple injuries, I think Housh can catch 80-85 balls this season.
What do you think of Sydney Rice this year? I grabbed him in the 12th and as long as he's hurt, I can keep him in my IR spot. Do you think he could have value by playoff time?
As long as you have the "free roster spot" it's certainly worth the gamble. But Week 11 is a long ways away, and if Tarvaris Jackson is getting snaps by then, forget about it.
Raburn or Victorino? Jenks or no Jenks?
Like Raburn over Shane... and no Jenks is always better than Jenks unless you absolutely need saves at any cost.
How big an upgrade is Teixeira over LaRoche in the last month? Worth trading value for?
I would make that deal. Top 25 vs Top 75.
What to do w/ Nolasco and Anderson? Heading into playoff time, their injuries really concern me. FA options include: De La Rosa, Niemann, Happ, Duensing. Should I hold both, cut both, cut one, etc? Thanks...
I'm willing to hold on to Nolasco, just in case, but Anderson not so much. I do like Happ best of the options there.
will either J. Stewart or Best be the better RB2 option behind Gore?
We know nothing about rookies until we see them in a real game. I know what I am getting with Stewart and I'm watching the Daily Show.
How good will Crabtree be this year.
Around 50 grabs last year and he missed the first month. I'm thinking 70 catches and 8 TDs.
Who do you like out of this bunch the best? Forte, McCoy, or Spiller.
I like Forte to bounce back. He's not going to suddenly be Marshall Faulk, but the Bears new system will help him post solid numbers.
Is DeAngelo Williams worth a first round pick?
I'd wait until the second round for DeAngelo, though in a 12-team, perhaps not at the end.
Thoughts on starting Brett Anderson vs Bombers tomorrow?
My thoughts are to not do so.
How is the Bears system different than they had last year?
Two words: Mike Martz.
What's wrong with Halladay? His pitching or his offense? I think it's the offense!
It's not the pitching.
soooo... Is it me or does Jake Delholme actually look good right now?
It's you, Eric. It's only you.
How high do you reach for Arian Foster now that he has the job almost to himself in Hou?
Not so much a round thing, but more like how many other backs are gone. I'd take him Round 4 if there were only a few starters left.
justin smoak breaks out this september ? yes or no
Welker or DJax in a PPR?
Welker. He'll be fine.
Does Steve Smith (CAR) bounce back this year?
As long as Moore is the QB, yes. If Clausen needs to step in, run!
you concerned with either justin upton or reyes injury PLAYOFFS PLAYOFFS need advice
Reyes absolutely. I think Upton could be back by the weekend.
Brett Myers, Carl Pavano, or Daniel Hudson?
Hudson has had a ton of quality starts since the deal. I'd trust him over the others.
Rice or Gore?
Rice, Mr. Coctosin.
Thoughts on Caddy?
Huggins is the Bucs back I'd take a flier on.
That's the chimes of Big Ben... time to get going. Thanks for all the Q's. Feel free to follow on the Twitter, and until the next time... Be Seeing You!
