Happy Friday!! Here we go with the injuries...Kolb is OUT, Moore is IN...what else shall we discuss?
Hey Steph,First off you do a great job and thank you for keeping me updated. I am a Darren Mcfadden owner, whats up with Michael Bush?
Danny: Why, thank you...do my best. I think McFadden owners are going to be happy this week. While Bush has made great progress they have been holding him out of the contact portions of practice, suggesting he will still be away from contact (as in not playing) this weekend. If he does play, suspect it will be limited.
What's the latest on Nicks' ankle?
Joe: Congrats on the first post of the day! Nicks did some side work today which the media could observe and reportedly looked good running and cutting. We do not yet know how much work he did with the team. It still sounds as if he could be a gametime decision and since that is Sunday night, need to either decide ahead of time or have someone you can sub in (like Manningham) on Sunday or someone else on Monday.
Hey Ms.Bell, What's your take on Beanie for this week ? Eventhough I got Brandon Jackson and Rice starting, I'm thinking about Beanie as flex.
Greg: Well, he certainly hasn't done too much to impress yet. Thursday was supposed to be a big test and he was limited. Won't have word on Fri practice for a while. Sounds as if there are still some concerns about swelling which could mean another week of rest. If he ends up playing I certainly think it will be a rotation. Might want to look elsewhere for flex.
Anything to be concerned about with Steven Jackson?
A: Apparently not. Nothing on MRI, full practice Thursday. I;d say he's ready to run against the Raiders.
What's this I'm hearing about Kellen Winslow? Is he good to go for sunday?
Justin: He was out Weds, Thurs which is not unusual to rest his knee (which he's had more surgeries on than you can count on one hand). But when I found out that he was limited today and is experiencing some pain in his knee, listed as Q for Sun, it makes me more concerned. He's tough and I still would not be surprised if he ends up playing despite all this, but if you have a better option you may want to use it. At least have another tight end ready.
Traded for Anquan Boldin yesterday. How's he looking?
Mark: He was limited in practice W, Th b/c of a thigh injury (often means groin) but there has been nothing to suggest that there was a serious threat to his status.
If Beanie Wells DOES go do you still sit him for a healthy CJ Spiller?
Domo: I do, b/c I think Wells could be active but end up on the sideline for the bulk of the game.
Any need to worry about Fitzys knee? I have Clayton waiting on bench. Dont love him but Andersons accuracy + Fitz knee has me worried! Thanks in advance!
Neal: I don't think I'd worry - certainly wouldn't have me benching him. His knee might not be 100% but I think the limitations are relatively subtle. Worry more about Anderson's accuracy.
Two weeks to go in the season -- any reason to expect Justin Morneau to play before the playoffs?
SS: No, sad but no.
How serious is Revis's hamstring injury and will this change him guarding Moss the whole game?
Chad: Well, no one is giving us enough info to grade the seriousness - but the fact that Revis said he could "feel it" in practice yesterday (and it limited him) and you know he wasn't running full speed suggests he won't be 100% by Sunday, just not enough time. And Moss is looking for some revenge. So I think if they put him on Moss he can get burned and/or flare it up trying to go full speed. If they put him on Welker, it's a lot of stop/start, etc and could still be a problem BUT it does open up Moss. If you're a Moss owner you have to be happy about this development.
With multiple days out, do you think Percy Harvin will start? Would you play Welker over him if return yards count?
Philip: Somewhat questionable at this time. Hrvin was back for limited work Friday but a downgrade on Thursday does not encourage me. Nor does all the cumulative missed time and how that manifested itself in the season opener when he and Favre did not look in sync. Welker is already firing on all cylinders. Harvin worth a flex start and can always be electric but the uncertainty points me towards Welker.
Hey StephieBadNews, when is Owen Daniels gonna be Owen Daniels again?
Rich: Let me guess, you're awesome Bill...no one can say for sure but it will take some time in the game to feel confidence in the knee and I wouldn't expect it before Week 5-6. Even then, it's usually another year before a guy regains his form, so I'm not expecting the Daniels from last year anytime this year.
Are Columbo and Kosier going to play for the boys and be at full strength, or will they have to bring back Barron or play Alper whose knees are shot
Carl: Both are expected to play - guess we'll see if they're back to form, but both will be on the field.
Hey Stephania, thanks for coming out to talk to us at the Chicago Fantasy football championship a few weeks ago. I have Mike Williams (SEA), what's his status realistically for Sunday?
Fbomb: I loved coming to Chicago - great event. Thank you for attending! Looks like MW will play. He was back on a limited basis Thursday after sitting out Weds b/c of a thigh injury, but consider he might not be 100% - and Champ Bailey likely to cover him.
Stephy bad news! Can you please update me on the Eddie Royal injury? I know he came back Thursday to practice but so much of his game relies on quickness, did it effect him any?
Bram: Have to believe that a groin injury will affect quickness - but it's always a question of degree. He's one of the guys I really want to see what he did Friday before I decide...but it might mean more Gaffney.
Stephy BadNews, as a Lions fan should I be concerned with J. Best's toe?
B.J. I do not get the impression that this is serious. After all he was a full participant in practice each day. I think they are perhaps being cautious b/c Kevin Smith who is recovering from ACL surgery still does not appear ready to go and they need him on the field.
Anything holding me back from starting Clinton Portis this week?
Really? Don Juan? Portis is fine as far as I can determine from the reports. Last week it was an ankle, this week it's a wrist. But it wasn't enough to limit him in practice and I see no reason to be worried about it for the game at this point.
Any updates on Stafford? Debating if I should stash him or drop him.
Chris: All we know is week-to-week and no surgery required. Grade 2 AC sprains can range from a couple of weeks to many, depending on the degree of tissue damage and rate of healing. I would plan on four weeks for sure, then see what happens. But I'm not sure I feel the need to keep him on my bench.
I'm thinking Vick will work more as a game manager than a rusher this week, since Kafka is the only other QB option. Do you think McCoy has some serious upside this week?
Steve: Don't know if I agree. While he has to be more patient, he's still going to use his legs. But he's going to throw a lot too so I value receivers more than McCoy.
What is up with Julian Edelman's foot and when do you think we will see him play?
Andrew: Gradually improving and he's been doing more each day. I think he could play this week, but expect he'll be listed as Q and it will be gtd. Not counting on him for fantasy production.
I heard rumours of a Cedric Benson shoulder injury. Anything to worry about? After losing Grant, the last thing I need are more tough decisions to make at RB.
David: Well the rumors are correct in that he appeared on the injury report b/c of a shoulder, but he practiced fully on Thursday so barring any late surprises I expect to see him on the field Sunday.
Update: Wells only did a "little work" on Friday and will be a GTD. Way too risky folks. Find an alternative.
Knowshon Moreno's hamstring doesn't seem to be in the news anymore. Should it be?
Todd: He came through the first game unscathed which is a great sign. For me, I want to see three or four weeks in a row with increased work and no setbacks before I'm feeling more comfortable that he's really past it.
Steph! What've you heard about Bob Sanders? What are the chances he returns this year?
David: We know he had surgery to repair the biceps tendon (distally). It's typically about 6 weeks for the repair to heal but then you have to regain all your strength. Will be a question mark as to whether he can return. But the Colts did not put him on IR for a reason. Remember he just went through this on the other side. He not only understands the rehab for this type of thing, he has a pretty good idea of where he was at different points along the way. So he already has an idea that he could return...assuming all goes well.
Hey Ms. Badnews! How does Todd Heap's shoulder look? Should I start scouring the waiver wires for a back-up yet? Is this an injury that could persist throughout the year?
Matt: Encouraging that he was doing more Thursday than Weds (where he did nothing) but still not 100%. No specifics on the injury so hard to say whether anything will linger. The further it gets into the season, the harder to be truly healthy. Heap is tough though and will play through things.
Hoping for a bounce back win for the niners! Michael Jenkins in ATL? Is he set to play? Thanks.
Mike: Jenkins not set to play. Did not practice W, Th and don't know yet about today but it does not look good.
Any word on Koi Misi from the Fins...or have I stumped the Great Stephania?
Knish: Nice try...and it's Koa. Left hand wrapped at practice this week for support, but he's expected to play.
Hello Ms. Goodnews! That's right, I said it! I realize it's a complete opinion and there is no news out there - but in your educated opinion - when would you guess that Josh Hamilton makes his return to the starting line-up? Thanks and have a great weekend!
Spencer: I'd love to help you here - but I can't. Hamilton stopped BP the other day b/c of pain with swinging and it's a day-to-day assessment. So it could be two or three more days, it could be more than a week. Too uncertain for me.
I know no one cares about Defense, but without a healthy Revis, Jets are doomed. I can't find any updates for today, please help!
Joe: Not true - and we talked about Revis, but I will update that he is officially listed as Probable but was still limited in practice today.
What does GTD mean?
Apologies - gametime decision
Darren Shaper has said to be ruled out for the first 6 weeks. how possible do you think it is that he can come back any earlier?
Mike: I'm not sure he comes back when the 6 weeks is up (he is not eligible to come back sooner b/c he's on the PUP -physically unable to perform) but the microfracture is proving tough to recover from, so we'll see where he is when 6 weeks is up.
Should Forte's knee be of any concern?
Spencer: Appears Chicago not overly concerned. Back in full practice by Thursday so not something that is worrying me.
lightning round! Who to start out of Garcon, Bowe, Wallace?
Ben: I like Garcon, making up for last week
Any update on Sidney Rice - looks tempting sitting on waivers...
Mike: Not much news to tell yet - progressing according to rehab timeline so far but not doing any real activities other than rehab, so too soon to predict whether he'll be on track to return when eligible. You can probably wait on him on the waiver wire.
Any further word on MJD's ailing knee?
Matt: Apparently not ailing - at least not in Week one. I still think there was something to the rumors - if there was nothing he wouldn't have been out of practice for over a week in late preseason. That said, he looked fine week one and he's a starter as long as he's in the lineup. But I am watching closely to see if anything changes as he puts in a few games...
