Hi everyone, let's get rolling.
after the drubbing that took place in nashville do you still see the raiders as the second best team in the division
Well, not so sure. Thee are only 15 games left.If I could hit the redo button, I think I'd put Kansas City over Oakland.
True or False: The San Diego Chargers are through with Vincent Jackson.
True. I don't think he plays for the Chargrs again.
My Chiefs win and make Phil Rivers pout, Oakland humiliated yet again, the Broncos so desperate they sign Lawrence Mahroney--good times, Bill...good times.
Glad you are enjoying it. Chiefs fans deserve to smile.
Will Tim Tebow be starting by the end of the season?
I don't think so unless Orton stinks it up. Don't see that happening.
Hey Bill, after seeing the Chiefs beat the Chargers in week 1, and seeing the Raiders and Broncos lose, do you think the Chiefs have a legitamite chance to win the dvision?
A few things would have to happen, but I think this wil be a competitive team.
With the V. Jackson situation?Do you know what teams are interested? I've heard the Vikes, but what about a trade with the Redskins for Haynesworth if the skins are willing to eat the remaining 8 million of garunteed money?
I don't think Haynesworth would be part of a deal. Washington was inteested earlier this summer. Right now, though, all the talk is being centered around Minnsota.
First of all, great job covering the games last week. Secondly, if the Raider's somehow find a way to lose against the Ram's this week, do you think Al Davis will fire the "Cable Guy"
Thank you, Russ, if Oakalnd does lose and it's ugly, sure, maybe Cable goes. We all know Davis is not patient.
San Diego is without 6 former pro-bowl players from last yeara??s roster. Monday they lost badly in a game where some players appeared to tank against a weaker team. Ticket sales are WAY down this year and wea??re looking at several potential TV black outs. If this isna??t the beginning of the end, it sure feels like it. Can you see the Chargers leaving San Diego?
It's a bad week in SD, but let's see how the Chargers react. Remember, slow starts don't mean much in San Diego. They've been here before and they've ended up fine.
Hey Bill, Zach Miller and Jason Campbell have both been quoted that they believe the team felt overconfident in that blowout against the Titans. Although many ppl find that hard to believe becuase of 7 lackluster seasons, I can easily believe that. Although they are professionals just like you and I, the media can still affect them. When they hear that they suck, I'm sure they don't like to hear that and it probably upsets them just as much if we were told we sucked at our jobs. So it doesn't surprise me that because the media hyped them up this off-season, that they could feel a little cocky. In a way, I'm glad we got blown out (rather than a close loss) because hopefully that will humble the players and they will now have a chip on their shoulder. Do you think I'm crazy or does this make some sense?
I have a post coming up at 2:30 p.m. I think it is silly Oakland allowed itself to get overconfident. TRhat is on the coaching staff.
What is your take on the Broncos runningback situation?
I think it will be week-to-week. This is a gropup that has talent, but ti can't stay healthy.
Back to Vincent Jackson really quick, what kind of value do you think the Chargers will ask for and in reality what will they get?
Second or third-round pick.
Any word on if Ryan Harris will play on Sunday?
He didn't practice Wednesday. if he doesn't go today, I don't like his chances.
He didn't practice Wednesday. if he doesn't go today, I don't like his chances.
What can Broncos fans be encouraged about (if anything) moving away from week 1?
The passing offense was good. They weren't blown out.
what are the chances bush is back this week? 50/50 or better? it would be nice to have 2 good running backs pounding the ball against the rams
He practiced Wednesday, so if there is no setback, he should be good to go.
Now with the departure of Yamon Figurs, who will be the Raiders main Kick Returner and Punt Returner: JLH, Nick Miller or Jacoby Ford ?
Cable said Wednesday that it will be Higgins and Ford.
Hey Bill, Whata??s grade would you give the Chargers O-line Monday night?
Chiefs going to be 2-0? Tell me Im wrong.
I don't think you are wrong, Wes.
Hey Bill so as a raider fan last weekend was beyond disappointing. Please please please give me some sort of hope! Have you heard anything regarding any personnel moves or changes for oakland's o line?
Mike, there's still talent on this team. it's not over. But, clearly, the Raiders aren't as good as they thouhgt. But there is still time.
Are the Raiders going to miss Jamarcus by the end of the season?
I don't think it will ever get that bad.
With Lloyd, Gaffney, and Royal playing well, do you see Decker and Thomas getting playing time anytime soon? PS. I think this group might be better than last years group of receivers.
McDaniels spreads the ball around. There will be room for everybody.
Bill, How was Arrowhead?
Relaly cool ... and really loud.
After seeing the MNF game and expecting big things out of Malcolm Floyd, should the Chargers be concerned with his ability as being a true number one target for Phillip Rivers?
Let's see hwo he plays in bette codnitons before writing him off.
Although the Chiefs won do you really think Matt Cassel can lead a team? He threw for 68 yeards against a young secondary with new starters Gregory and Cason playing, to me he doesnt look like the make for a franchise quarterback, but I suppose that doesnt matter with Arenas and McCluster putting you 5 yards from the endzone on every punt and kickoff
Like Floyd in San Dieog, let's give Cassel some time.
Were you as surprised as I was when the chargers didna??t try to pound it in from the 5 at the end of the game with Tolbert and Mathews available in wet and windy conditions?
Yeah, remember last year on opening night when Sproles scored against Oakland? How bout something like that on one of the four plays?
Bill do you really think that the Chiefs outplayed the Chargers, I still feel that SD left the field a better team, Phil by all accounts was off and still had a 98.0 passer rating, outside a terrible fumble, bad kick coverage and one amazing block by Dwayne Bowe the Chiefs did nothing.
I think both tema's had their moments, but I do say kanss City deserved to win. No doubt.
if bush is back do you see the carries split evenly between him and mcfadden or do you see mcfadden/bush getting the bulk of the carries
I think that's a work in progress. We have to see what happens when they are both healthy.
After this first week, do you think the Chiefs should think about giving some of Thomas Jones touches to Dexter McCluster? If McCluster and Charles touching the ball 30 times a game good things have to happen.
I think K.C. has options and that's great. I know this: Charles needs more than 11 touches.
It was just reported the Vincent Jackson is eligible to play week 5 if he is traded. How quick do you think he'll moved to another team?
It all depends on what A.J. Smith wants to do. He holds the cards.
Do you think the Chargers are losing games intentionally in September to make the end of the regular season more fun? Or to make the people of SD pay more attention to the first place Padres? Sure seems like it to Charger fans..
Do you see the NFL lifting blackouts considering the state of the economy?
They ofen do, so I won't be surprised.
Hi Bill, What do we need to see from our offense this week to beat Cleveland
Pound the ball down their throats.
Will Darren McFadden keep up his solid performance or is he too fragile?
He's shwon he's fagile in the apst. So we'll see.
Bill, will Dorsey's performance on Monday end the general media analyst theory that he is a bad fit in a 3-4 defence?
It was a great staat. Dorsey was near dominant. it was good to see. He's a good guy and he tries hard. He said in the sumemr that he thinks he finally has he 3-4 figured out.
I refuse to be as pessimistic about the Raiders after a we were beaten by a team that is now 9-2 since Vince Young took over. The Chargers are slow starters and 8-8 won this division two years ago. Your thoughts?
The Raiders nwed to worry about thesmelves not how good the Titans are.
Bill, did you see a noticeable improvement in the "new" Arrowhead and how was the atmosphere there being in the building on Monday relative to the other stadiums you visit?
The atmosphere was awesome. Top notch.
How do you think Stanford Routt played vs the Titans ? And how well do you think he will fare vs Sam Bradford and the Rams ?
Routt and the safeties ahd their issues. Bradford is young so i'm not sure if he can exploit them, but after seeing Bradford toss 55 passes I know he'll try.
What are your thoughts on R.McClain after Week 1? He looked pretty solid to me.
He was OK. Made sme plays. He needs to be more phsyical.
Do you like what you see in Matt Cassel? I know it was wet Monday night, but Rivers threw for almost 300. I still have doubts about Cassel.
It was a wwird game for KC's offense. I still say they need to pound the the ball on the ground and go from there.
Bill, In your opinion what areas of SD Chargers did them in on MNF and do you think it can be corrected? I think Floyd and Nanee didnt get the respect as WR as VJ would have got!
The offense was way to inconsisent.
if cable does go... is it a given that hue jackson gets the job, with that putrid offense against the titans???
What do you think about McCluster's strong debut last week? A sign of things to come or just a good game for the rook?
I think Jackson is the first guy you look at. But you are right, he'd didn't light the world on fire in Week 1. His ofense was unprepared ....On McLCuster: A big sign of things to come. He's an exciting guy.
Did the Chiefs surprise you ?
Did they surprise you?
Will Champ Bailey be a Bronco next season?
Good question. They have talked about a new deal. But they are not close. Still, that can change any time. The fact that tey are talking is a good sign.
BW, is this Seattle game a must win for Denver, looking at their next 4 games after them?
I'd say so, yes.
bill any chance shanahan sneaks in the backdoor and pulls off trade for jackson?? clearly getting jackson could make redskins a legit playoff team, because right now they may have the worst wr's in the league
I know Shanny likes him a lot. A lot.
Hey Bill, KC deffense seems to appear much improved, how good do you think they can be as the season progresses and the rookies develop?
I think it will only get better. The fact that Kansas City was so good on defense in Week 1 has to reallt excite the team.
I know its week one but I see you havent jumped off the San Diego bandwagon. I still dont see Denver being a 6 win team. This team is as competitive as any in this division.
How can you fall off the San Diego bandwagon after one game after what the Chargers have done in recent seasons?
Who do you have winning the Oakland-St. Louis game and why?
I say Oakland. wins. If it can't beat the Rams art home, there are big problems afoot.
What do the chiefs need to do to put these naysayers to rest. Go 3-0, is that likely?
KC plays the 49ers after the Browns and then they have back-to-back roadies at the Colts and Texans. So a 3-0 start would be helpful.
Great hour, thanks everyone.
