Good morning again, gang. Tired of all this rain -- let's get to sixty minutes of fantasy chattage. Second cup of coffee in hand. Who's up first?
Are you rolling with Tolbert or Beanie Wells this week at the flex position?
Beanie for me. I think the Cards get him a little more involved than usual to make up for lost time.
Why in the world is Crabtree so bad? Do I give this new offesive co. a week or two befor I drop him??
Crabtree has been on the field. He has been targeted. He's simply not showing up. The OC has nada to do with it...
AJ, love the fantasy work! Austin is on bye this week, and my reserves at the position (S. Smith NYG, Garcon) are not living up to expectations. Is it time to drop one and pick up Lloyd, Murphy, Manningham, Cribbs, or a Denver WR?
Not sure why you're down on Smith. He is who he is and is doing that well. Garcon on the other hand appears to be on his way out. I'd take a stab at Murphy.
Lance Moore or Davone Bess this week for a spot play in a PPR league?
Bess. Moore is a once in a while breakout, and he just did. NO spreads it around too much to rely on Moore, but Bess is doing a great job in catching the ball with all the defensive attention on Brandon.
TE fill for Witten this week - Carlson, Shockey or Olsen?
Carlson. Getting tons of targets and is a huge red zone fave in Seattle.
Who do you like more this week in a PPR, Ronnie at home against NE or Addai at Jax?
Ronnie. Indy seems to be throwing the ball even when up 30 points. That hurts the ground game.
AJ: Need 2 of 3. Hillis, Gore or P. Thomas?
Hillis is not in the league of the other two. Even though he has a nice matchup, you sit him.
According to Cockroft's newest rankings, I should be dropping Aromashadu for Roy Williams (DAL), do you agree? And would you drop Vincent Jackson for Davone Bess?
Yes. Aromashodu was a healthy inactive on MNF, and it's clear the Bears don't like him. Williams is at least on the field and putting up fantasy points. V-Jax can be dropped in all single-season leagues.
Who do you think will win the 2010 World Series?
It comes down to matchups, but it's hard to imagine the Phillies with that staff losing 4 of 7.
Am I on the verge of losing my starting gig to Torain?
As long as you are healthy, you'll be fine. However, you have a wrist problem, as you know, and that may cause a fumbling issue. Drop the ball, and you're on the bench until it heals up.
0-3!!!! and I have AP on bye this week. Do I start Best or Darby this week alongside Bradshaw? What kind of WR can I get for Best or Bradshaw...standard?
You're going to have to wait until Sunday to make the call. Obviously, if S-Jax plays, Darby's a no-go. Best right now, I would guess doesn't play -- so you're in a bit of a pickle.
Forsett, do you see him with a big number of carries again like last week? I need help deciding between Forsett, BJax and Greene for my flex. Thanks.
While the mind of a pro football coach is always impossible to read, I think Forsett can now reasonable be considered the No. 1 in Seattle. Definitely a better play this week than the other two you mention.
Brandon Jackson or Kuhn in GB?
Carries split on MNF was what? 7-6? It's not like either has jumped in and grabbed the brass ring. I'd gamble with Kuhn, simply because he's better suited for the goal line carries.
Thoughts on BenJarvus Green the rest of the season? He better than Michael Bush? Worth a Flex play this week if Best/Moreno are out?
He's not better than Bush, but he'll have more of an opportunity. With Fred Taylor ailing and Faulk gone, Lawfirm is the NE No. 1 (as much of a No. 1 as you can have with Belichick.) As long as McFadden is doing what he is doing, Bush won't get touches. Flex play for sure for BJGE.
Ryan Torain is available on waivers. Would you drop Darren Sproles or Michael Bush for him?
Drop Sproles. He got no touches with no Mathews. You simply aren't going to be able to start him in fantasy.
Is Hartline worth a spot start against the Pats? He appears a little Wes Welkerish to me based on his last game.
He's not Welker-ish. He works the outside too much for that type of designation. However, with Buffalo scoring 30 on NE - no reason Dolphins can't have three receivers with 6 catches each.
AJ, M. Ryan, M. Hasslebeck, M. Sanchez for this week....for season? Thanks!
I like Ryan this week, just a bit more than Sanchez. For the season, I'd go with Sanchez, though there will be weeks the Jets kill his value by running far more than passing.
how much value do i have replacing breaston? worth a flex start this week? me and DA had some good chemistry in preseason...
You'll get every opportunity to succeed, but I'm not sure you're ready yet. Keep an eye on Max Komar -- there's a "Welkerish" guy who might sneak in as the No. 3 and outperform Williams.
Hi AJ! Do you ever wonder if it would make more sense to end the fantasy baseball season earlier. Teams are totally messed up with MLB teams resting guys for the playoff, shutting guys down because they are out of contention, starting minor leaguers just for fun, etc. Do we really want champoinships determined by that kind of nuttiness?
Kevin - if you feel that way, I have a simple solution for you. In your league constitution add the following sentence: "The last day of the fantasy season is September 15."
Is Greg Jennigs still an elite receiver?
Snarky answer: Apparently not, since you forgot how to spell his name.Real answer: Still a top 15 guy, but doesn't get enough red zone looks to make top 10.
I want to play RB on my fantasy team, but ESPN has me at WR. I haven't played WR since high school. When can we fix this?
ESPN policy is to not add positional eligibility to offensive players during the season. Woodhead was listed as WR at beginning of season by Jets, and will keep that designation.
I'm scratching my head over the following 12-team keeper league trade where an 0-3 team gave up Peyton, S-Jax, and S.Smith (Car) for Forte, Desean Jackson, and Santana Moss leaving him with only Sanchez at QB. I hate protesting but seems to hurt him this year and in the future. Thoughts?
0-3 starts lead to desperate owners. However, Jackson and Smith aren't exactly injury-free players and DeSean Jackson has tons of upside. Owners should be allowed to do what they want, as long as they're not colluding.
Mr. Mass - No question here just a big "Thank you" for doing your job so well and so graciously even with all the haters. You make my day at home by myself after surgery much more enjoyable. Thank you.
Thanks for taking part in the chat, JB. Get well soon.
Is Flacco start-able this week against the steelers?
I'm not a big Flacco fan, and this is not exactly a good matchup.
ryan torain or chris ivory off the wire? desperate times man, desperate times...
Torain. Ivory has had some knee issues, so I'd be concerned he might not even suit up.
Whats the deal with celek? Im not dropping him bc I have other droppable options but is Marcedes Lewis or Jermaine Gresham a better option right now?
Celek is not a fit with the offense the Eagles run with Vick at QB. Vick, when he gets in trouble, will use his legs before dumping to TE for a few yards. Given the Jacksonville QB questions right now, I'd go with Gresham.
Indy, TN, or Chicago D this week?
I'd go with Bears... they shut the run down and Eli has been making mistakes.
I made two additions this week, Blount and Torain. Stewart hasn't shown up to play this season. Will either turn into a RB2?
Torain may if Portis gets hurt, and we all know the chances of that are high. Blount won't be an RB2, but he's in line to start vulturing, which gives him bye week flex value, at least.
Is there any chance of me becoming fantasy relevant by year end? Or should I be relegated to the free agent pool?
Flush the Housh.
Another D question: Falcons or Seahawks?
I like the Seahawks -- keep in mind you also get Leon Washington there.
Will the Braves, Reds and Giants start their projected SPs this weekend? What's the plan of attack if I need to find pitching options for Sat and Sun?
Braves and Giants still have to get in... so no question they start who they start. However for all playoff bound teams who have already clinched - don't be surprised to see front line starters given a few innings of relief this weekend to keep their arms loose with several days off before their first playoff starts.
I've watched the Titans D since preseason and don't understand why they aren't getting more love. What am I missing?
You're looking at the scores of the games... not the stats. Eli threw for close to 400 yards against them. That's a tad worrisome.
Fill in the answer...the player most likely to break out after a 3 week slump is _____.
You are answering the other Scott's questions...why not mine?Would you trdade Mike Williams (TB) straight up for Santana Moss?
No. Eventually I think the Moss-McNabb magic wears out.
Jacoby Jones or Golden Tate this week and for the rest of the season? Tate looks to be getting more involved
Tate has a ways to go before he's startable. Jones is going to get 6-10 targets weekly. He's far more valuable right now and in 2010.
Thoughts on Gradkowski going forward? I am considering starting him this week at home against a putrid Texans pass defense.
Jury is still out on Texans. It's not like Peyton Manning, Tony Romo and Donovan McNabb are lousy QBs. If Bruce lights them up for 400 yards, then it's the Houston D. I think more likely he throws for 250 or so, and those Texans stats start to average out.
Lightning round!! Snooki or the Situation? I take Snooki 8 days of the week.
I think it's time for JB's medicine.
collie or fitz, has it really come to this?
Look at it this way: Peyton Manning's WR or Derek Anderson's WR? Feel a bit better?
Drop Fred Taylor or Chester Taylor for LeGarrette Blount??!?
Chester can be dropped in all leagues. I'd do it.
Mendhall and Crabtree for Mathews and Austin?
flacco v pit or bradford v sea?
Pick two for this week...Hillis, J. Jones, Knox, Wallace...PPR. Please and thank you.
Knox and Jacoby.
Is Kieland Williams still worth a roster spot?
Only in the deepest of leagues.
Lee evans vs. the Revisless Jets or Damaryius Thomas vs. Tennesee?
ppr league. who do i start? nannee (SD) or bess (miami)? thanks.
Should I be starting Hakeem Nicks over Deangelo, Forte, or Fitz; in a PPR league?
Not over DeAngelo, but yes over the rest.
Santonio Holmes....immediate starter upon return....or wait and see?
Give him a week. Timing will certainly be off a bit.
Leon Washington or Lance Moore for a waiver wire pickup?
Moore unless return yards count. Not even close.
collie or mcfadden in a ppr league?
Collie. Could catch 10 again.
Cutler or Sanchez this week?
Buzzer Beater! Lawfirm, Addai, or Lynch this week? Fitz or Mark Clayton?
Lawfirm and Clayton.
That's the buzzer. Thanks to all who asked questions... we'll be back again on Friday at 11 for more, and until then, there's always the Twitter. Be seeing you!
