Chat with Josh Duhamel

  (3:01 PM)

Hi folks! We should have Josh joining us shortly! Keep those questions coming!

Josh Duhamel
  (3:07 PM)

I"m here and ready to go!

Timo (San Diego)

Be honest with me ... is this a chick flick? Or am I going to get something out of it if my girlfriend forces me to see it with her?

Josh Duhamel
  (3:08 PM)

Honestly, when I first read the script I did not see it as a romantic comedy. It was much more. I was looking for something like this with some serious drama and also some real humor. Most men that I talked to were surprised by how it really wasn't a chick flick at all.

J.B. (Dunmore, PA)

Where can I get a Josh Duhamel action figure?

Josh Duhamel
  (3:09 PM)

I've been trying to get that for two years. Maybe for the third installment!

Paulie T (Brooklyn)

Would you trade your acting career to be a pro athlete?

Josh Duhamel
  (3:09 PM)

At one point that's all I cared about, being a pro athlete. But I realized I wasn't athletic enough. This is a good alternative. I'm having a lot of fun doing this. Plus a little more longevity with acting.

lora (U.S)

do your wife fergie get excited to start family with you when she saw you play a great father in the movie ??

Josh Duhamel
  (3:10 PM)

She knows that I will now know how to handle a baby, for sure. But she is a very nurturing person my nature. She liked the idea of me doing this movie a lot. Now maybe it will expedite the process!

Patricia S. (Chicago, IL)

What was the hardest part about filming "Life as We Know It?" What did you have to research to do this?

Josh Duhamel
  (3:12 PM)

I was in Atlanta for three weeks before shooting to get the kids comfortable around me and the movie set. The easiest part was I've always liked being around kids. The most challenging part was doing a movie that wasn't soft ... that didn't stray away from the drama. Usually with movies like this they gloss over the drama and go more for humor. People have been pleased with the fact we didn't stray away from that.

Jason (Miami, FL)

Which actor's movie career would you most like to have? Maybe a Clint Eastwood? De Niro? Based on the types of roles they got to play and the scripts they got to work with?

Josh Duhamel
  (3:13 PM)

I think Paul Newman had an amazing career. I also love what Tom Hanks has done. He has always made very grounded movies that have something to say. He has found a way to make blockbusters that are about something and that is what I want to do.

Thomas (Knoxville)

Were you at the RnR Hall of Fame concert when Fergie was killing it with Mick Jagger! She was incredible.

Josh Duhamel
  (3:13 PM)

No. But I saw the video and that is my all-time favorite performance of hers. To hold her own with Jagger and Bono is so impressive.

Josh Duhamel
  (3:14 PM)

Also her dad's favorite moment!

Nina (Maine)

What did you learn being around babies all day on set?

Josh Duhamel
  (3:15 PM)

To be honest, that was the most fun part of the movie. On a movie set, it's just fun to have something so honest and pure around like kids. It's very refreshing. I learned how to change a diaper or two.

Linda (CT)

Which is more fun, acting on TV or in movies? And what is your favorite TV show right now?

Josh Duhamel
  (3:16 PM)

Movies I would say are a little different in that it is a longer process. You have a beginning, middle and end. On TV, you don't really have that. It's just an ongoing story that keeps going. It's a stable feeling though, being on TV. My favorite TV show is Breaking Bad.

Ericka (Tennessee)

What's a good tip for a celebrity who wants to stay out of the tabloids and not get eaten alive by the papparazi? You and Fergie seem to have handled it pretty well.

Josh Duhamel
  (3:17 PM)

Well, not going to places where you know they are hanging out. I'm working on inventing an aerosol spray that repels papparazi. I haven't perfected it but when I do I will make millions.

Jessica (Miami)

I have a two part question for Josh: In the future, does he think they'll ever be some sort of wrap-up to Las Vegas? Secondly, he also played a sports editor and had a sports related job in Life As We Know It. If he wasn't acting, would he consider being a sports newscaster?

Josh Duhamel
  (3:19 PM)

Vegas was something very close to me. I had such a blast doing that. I'm still a little upset that we never really go to shoot that final episode. So many people were invested in it. I'll always be sad about that. But for the folks who did watch it, I think it was going to be a boy. From what I told. I think I love sports enough to have done that. I'm a sports junkie so I think I could see myself doing that.

Jason (Vickadelphia)

Any advice for dating such a beautiful and talented woman?

Josh Duhamel
  (3:20 PM)

I would say beautiful and talented is just a bonus. Fergie is just a sweet person who is good to me. That is the most important part. Everything else is a bonus. There is a good chance our kids will be good singers and that won't come from me.

J.B. (Dunmore, PA)

Josh -- Huge fan of yours. I always had to beg my parents to let me watch Las Vegas and have loved you ever since. Can you give us a little insight as to what to expect from "Life As We Know It"?

Josh Duhamel
  (3:22 PM)

What really drew me to this was it was a story about two people confronted with what seemed to be the burden of a 1-year old when neither was prepared for it. They realize it is a blessing and it will make you laugh and cry at the same time and it is definitely my favorite movie that I have been a part of.Thanks for taking the time to ask questions! I hope you love this movie as much as I do. Take care!
