One hour to chat. MLB playoffs, NFL Week 5, Randy Moss... let's get to it. Second cup of coffee in hand. Who's up first?
Moss killed me with a goose egg last week. Is he a must-start now that he's in Minny against the Jets?
I don't think he's a must start this week. He and Favre will eventually help each other have a solid rest of the season, but right off the bat, the Jets should be able to keep the pair in check.
After the moss trade, is Tate worthy of a pickup?
Tate is going to have trouble doing what Moss did, and Wes Welker might also fall a bit. But certainly, Tate as his team's "No. 1" should be on a roster.
Mike Bell worth a roster spot over a high-upside sleeper like Bernard Scott?
I think not. McCoy may be back as early as next week, and Buckley might even get more carries in his stead than Bell.
is forsett worth holding onto now that lynch is in seattle?
I think so. Obviously, we have to see how it plays out, but I can envision this being a 1-1A combo in Seattle. Lynch will get 60-40 if that happens, but Forsett should play.
What do you see out of the Buffalo RB situation now with Lynch gone?
70-30 split with Jackson and Spiller out of the gate, but if Spiller performs, he'll eat into that time.
A guy in our league is 0-4 and quit the league and didnt pay the league fee!!! What do you recommend doing dropping his guys and bidding for them, draft or just keep the players he has and go by the rankings each week
Find an owner to take over if you can. If not, freeze the roster and set the lineups using the rankings. Never try and play a "guessing game" as to what you think is the best lineup.
I've been hanging on to Sidney Rice all year. Does the Moss trade hurt or help him when he's healthy again?
It can only help. No double-teams will be used with teams needing to cover both these WR, Harvin and keep an eye on AP.
Lee Evans is killing me, should I drop him for Kenny Britt or Brandon Tate?
I'd drop him for either. Tate has more opportunity right now, but with the injury to Gage, Britt may well be more valuable for the next few weeks.
need receiver help this week. who would you start: mccluster, parrish, or gaffney?
Parrish - gulp! - I actually think Buffalo puts up some nice offensive numbers against the Jags.
How does the Moss trade affect my value?
You'll be playing more, assuming you remain injury free, so there's that. However, I think the two TEs benefit more overall.
Z. Miller or Shaincoe this week (assuming the ladder plays)?
Nick - FYI, it's "latter" - unless Shiancoe has a new nickname I am unaware of. And Miller is the only Raiders player I start this week.
Been reading that the Cowboys plan to increase Felix's workload. What is your take on his value going forward?
I'll believe it when I see it. Still not enough running going on with the MB3 timeshare to warrant his play as anything more than a flex.
S. Smith nyg or Colston the rest of the year?
Overall, it's Smith, especially in PPR. Brees has too many other options to work with down the field, while Smith is the lone "over the middle" guy in NY.
What's your projections on the Twins/Yankees series? Twins have a chance?
Absolutely. After all, beat CC and what else is there in that rotation that strikes fear?
Really need a QB this week, Palmer, Garrard, Fitzpatrick, or Hill?
Garrard slightly over Fitzpatrick in a high-scoring affair.
What does the trade do or Brady? Who is better going forward, Schaub or Brady?
It shouldn't hurt him much. I expect Welker, Tate, Edelman and the TEs, along with Woodhead out of the backfield to simply turn this into a spread the field, find the open guy offense. Brady will be fine at doing that.
Do you like S. Holmes vs MIN or D. Bowe @ IND better as a bye week fill-in?
Holmes. I am somewhat concerned that he's not up to game speed quite yet, but he's going to get targeted plenty.
AJ, Dallas D or St. Louis D this week?
6 of one, half dozen of the other. If forced, I'd go with STL.
Wes Welker owner HATING this trade! Who's going to stretch the field and open up the middle for Wes?
Tate and Hernandez. It's not like Moss was catching 10 a game.
What are the chances that Vincent Jackson now gets traded to NE?
Right now, I don't think that NE wants to trade one headache for another. A few losses, and we'll see.
You mentioned earlier you like Woodhead out of the backfield. Would you rather have him than the lawfirm?
No, BJGE is still the better fantasy play - especially in ESPN leagues where Woodhead only qualifies as WR.
Hiya AJ. Who do you like more in keeper leagues: Gore or Foster? Moss or Miles Austin?
Foster and Austin for me.
Who would you rather have on your roster going forward, Ivory or Blount?
Blount. I don't think Thomas' injury is long-term enough for Ivory to factor in this season. Meanwhile, in TB, the Cadillac is due for a trip to the junkyard.
Following up on your Welker response, even when Moss wasn't catching "10 a game" wasn't he commanding double teams most of the time, thus freeing up Welker? Doesn't the lack of constant double teams on somebody else hurt Welker?
He really wasn't. The Pats always have spread the ball -- it's part of their play-calling DNA. If Welker continues to run the same routes as he always has, I really don't expect the results to be that different.
Why do I get so annoyed when people ask what someone's value is "going forward?" That being said, going backwards, Gale Sayers or Red Grange?
Come 1934, I see great things from Red.
Hey AJ! I'm wondering if I should drop Louis Murphy and pick up Brandon Tate while I still can?
I would have done this three weeks ago.
Harry Douglas a one week "wonder" or is this a sign of some potential? Seen the Falcons take a few deep shots but the timing just hasn't seemed to be there
Once Jenkins comes back -- assuming he ever does -- Douglas is toast. Yeah, there's potential, but not enough for me to get all that excited here. It's still Roddy or bust in ATL.
Better flex play, wells or torain?
Unless Portis pulls a Lazarus, it's Ryan.
Tell me why I shouldn't be concerned about Greg Jennings?
Because the Packers will continue to pass pass pass. I'm even less concerned that will change since they didn't get Lynch.
You would have dropped L Murphy for Tate 3 weeks ago. WOW, you are like Yoda - you can really see the future on a guy who had 3 catches at the time. That is classic!
I would have dropped Louis Murphy for Tate Donovan three weeks ago. It's a comment on the awfulness of the Raiders, though, see the future I do.
Matt Forte or Thomas Jones vs the Indy depleted defense?
I go TJ. Cassel is putrid.
Because the Packers will continue to pass pass pass. I'm even less concerned that will change since they didn't get LynchIt's "because" - "since" represents a place in time
Listen up Kelsey Grammar... "even less concerned" represents a comparison between now and a prior place in time - that of the Lynch trade to Seattle, hence "since". Love ya!
If you owned Welker is it worth owning Tate too....would he be a good flex play??
Too many eggs in one basket. You could get away with it once in a while, but why limit the upside? One 24-6 day and you're toast.
Do you think Bradshaw will play this week? just got Jacobs off the waiver wire. Is he a better flex over Knox this week?
I do. Jacobs' fumble last week keeps him in the doghouse, or at least on a very short tether.
Mike Sims-Walker or Derrick Mason for the this week and moving forward?
Jacksonville's receivers are way too erratic to be counted on. I don't like either much this week, but I do go Mason on both counts.
Shonn Greene or Johnathan Stewart for RB4?
Greene, even against Minny's wall.
Is Hill over Orton this week getting a little too cute ?
Not at all in my book. I despise Orton this week.
With Garcon's return imminent, how much value does Austin Collie lose? Thanks
None. Garcon already lost that battle before he got hurt. The absence just solidified it. The bigger question is how soon after he does come back does Peyton demand White play at No. 3 instead of Pierre.
Romo or Bradford this week?
My personal rankings or projections (which savvy readers may well be able to find on the site if they try hard enough) have them in a dead heat for this week... which means I start Romo.
Any reason to continue hanging on to Vincent Jackson? Thanks!
I think if you've held on to him this long, you keep him another week or two, just in case the Pats cave -- which I don't think they will.
If you were going to start one WR from Buffalo this week, who would it be? Same for St. Louis.
Clayton gets the call for me over Amendola in STL, but both are solid. I go Parrish over Evans.
I think it's doing someone a favor in pointing out a glaring grammar error like "ladder". Then he won't do it again an look udderly ridiculous - ;)
Commissioner question! What do you do about owners "renting" players? That is, trading a player for one week to cover byes with the agreement that he gets traded back after that week?
You put a rule in the constitution that two teams may not trade the same player to each other in the same season.
do you think bell can do ANYTHING this week if mccoy is out?
He can get tackled.
Maclin or Lance Moore this week?
Moore. Kolb won't throw the ball to where Maclin likes to run. He's the one hurt most by Vick's injury.
Never thought I would ask this, but would you start Danny Amendola over Mike Sims-Walker this week?
Yes I would... lightning round, gang!
Is Favre a better play than Flacco this week?
If he wasn't before, he certainly is now.
Who should I go with for the rest of the season. Colston or Driver?
I prefer Driver for reasons stated earlier this chat.
top 3 wr's from here on out?
Still think it's Wayne, White and Austin.
tony gonzalez or dustin keller
Gonzo - might get 10 TDs this year.
hightower, spiller, moore pick 2?
Sit Spiller this week.
uggggggh.......Jacobs or Kuhn this week?
Go with the Green.
McCluster or Woodhead?
Pats on bye this week -- Woodhead will catch more balls this season. Neither's a great own except in deep leagues.
That's the gun, the whistle or any other timing apparatus... thanks for the chat. We'll be back on Friday. Until then... be seeing you!
