I was a little lost Sports Nation - couldn't find my room for chatting. But I'm here now - and so are many of you - so let's get started...
Okay, so Andy Reid says LeSean McCoy is going to play. He's fine, right? You don't dominate in the second half of a game without being all right
Nate: Bonus points for coming early. Well, McCoy showed he can certainly play - but he is still healing and we need to remember that. Meaning it's possible he could aggravate the injury - but the concern is less based on what he was able to do alst week.
The world of Fantasy is waiting with baited breath. Will he or won't he? Tis the question of the week. Aaron Rodgers, tell me he is cleared to go. Please oh please tell me he is playing.
Todd: He has been cleared, he has returned to practice and the expectation is that he will start. The only thing that would block it would be if he has a setback (specifically recurrence of any concussion-like symptoms) between now and Sunday.
Hey Stephania! How's Chris Johnson doing?
Eric: Not bad. Back in practice today after resting his thigh. With the game being Monday it looks as if he will go.
Do you think the saints are holding back info on Thomas much like Arizona did with beanie? Would you drop Thomas for Moreno or f jax?
Scott: No, don't think they're holding back info. Just think that he has been a little slower to progress to certain activities than they'd like. They want a healthy Thomas on the field and right now they wouldn't get that. Would not drop him for those two, esp Moreno who is a HUGE injury risk going forward, I think. I think Thomas comes back strong.BTW, Thomas is OUT for Sunday so definitely sub for him in your lineups
S-Jax: Good to go? Any lingering concerns?
Andy: He is. So far he's been able to progress each week even playing with the injury. So I am not too worried about him - sure, always risk of aggravation of these things, but gets less as you get further away from the injury.
Does it look like Megatron will play this week?
Patrick: looking like he will perhaps give it a go although they're calling it a gtd and you should have a backup plan. I'm not sure I'd start him anyway as he is not likely to be 100%. Did better in practice today catching balls with both hands, but still suspect he's less than his normal self.
Sephania, on Fantasy Football Now are you in some ESPN Quarantine Bunker when they cut away to you? Why aren't you at the same desk as TMR and the gang?
Charles: THat's funny -but no, I'm just at a desk about 10 feet away from them. Too crowded at big desk and I am working on a laptop getting info during the show so better to have my own little setup. :)
How's Darren McFadden looking? He said 50-50...is he practicing today?
Nicole: Sounds like the Raiders don't rate him that high. He will be a gtd but the fact is the Raiders don't want him to aggravate his injury and he's been less than full speed all week. Big week for M Bush.
Tampa Mike Williams -- what's up with that foot and will he be ready for Sunday?
Ed: They've been short on details but the good news is that he likely plays and he was back in limited practice today. R Morris has been saying he expected to have him available and it looks like he will.
Hey, Stephania, what's the current status on Mike Williams (TB) and Joseph Addai?
Stan: We covered Williams, Addai will likely be listed as Q but expect he plays. He's got soreness in the neck/shoulder area and has been limited but he seems to think he'll be able to go. My concern with Addai is that he suffers a lot of these neck/shoulder injuries and may be from how he absorbs contract. If he takes a big hit, how long does he last? Sort of a hypothetical, no way to know...
Does Mathews finally take on a larger role this week or will his injury still hold him back?
Dan: Lots of folks wondering this and with good reason. People keep hearing Mathews is the guy but then it hasn't happened the last 2 weeks. Come to find out the ankle has been actually bothering him with the increased work. Last week after a full practice Thursday he was sore Friday and did not practice, hence the lower workload Sunday. This week there's some good news in that Mathews practiced hard Thursday and was able to come back today and work again. Not a lock for the start but should get more carries.
What is the status of Clay Matthews?
Ted: I'm hearing that he's unlikely to play. He's a big pass rush guy, Dolphins are a run-heavy offense, the team may have him out this week (not set in stone but likely scenario).
Any concern with MJD and all his injuries?
Brian: Sure. He's now had knee, ankle and wrist issues. Apparently he's had persistent swelling in the wrist that they're working on trying to reduce before the game. Hmmm - fumble/re-injury risk? The wrist obviously really bothered him when it happened...but he'll be out there.
Is Finley really done for the season?
Dan: Not official - not on IR but it would not be surprising if he ends up there. He's done for fantasy.
Is it now safe to fully start Andre Johnson again?
Peter: I couldn't sit him if he's on my team. The ankle may not be 100% but he still put up nearly 100 yards last week. He is the top target and remains that way even when less than fully healthy.
James Starks? Worth adding? What's his injury status.
Bill: Really - you should not be able to leave the office on Friday before me...but you bring up an interesting name. Starks is running full speed and could be an interesting pick up. Can't be active before Week 7 (b/c was on PUP list) but they could use the help in GB.
How much will Favre's tendinitis affect his throwing?
Greg: Good question. No way to answer fully given that it's hard to know how much pain Favre is having. He certainly LOOKED like he was in pain Monday but losing makes everything hurt more. This is a problem that is not going to go away quickly and grip and throw will aggravate...but that's what he has to do. So in the days leading up to games they will have him throw less and give more treatment for pain/inflammation relief but in the course of the game, even falling on it or a helmet to the elbow can aggravate it. So in-game if it gets really bad and his performance drops significantly, maybe they pull him. But I'm guessing he starts and plays as much as possible.
Is Burelson able to go this week and with Megatron injured u see more looks toward burelson?
Ron: Yes, expect Burleson to go and I think he might get more looks this week for sure.
Ray Rice, safe to start?
Dan: Yes, practiced Friday. Expect plenty from him.
Whats the status on Collie? I know he's back to practice, but will he be an impact on the field? Would you start him or zach miller in a ppr league?
Drew: Very interesting name game there with Miller. I do love Miller as the tight end and he has been putting up some points. I expect Collie to play. Foot can't be 100% since he's in a boot early in the week BUT last week he had the same schedule, played Sunday and looked decent. Garcon is back in the mix as well but don't see it as a HUGE threat to Collie, maybe not the numbers of early weeks though.
Do you expect to see Mike Vick on the field on Sunday?
Ray: Nope. Kolb starts and Vick, although he's doing a little more will wait a little longer to return. He is NOT going to be over this injury anytime soon, even when he comes back you have to be a little worried about how he performs and whether his style is altered.
How about Donald Brown?
Brian: Does not look like Brown will be available. He had made some strides in doing some work with the team but doesn't appear he's quite game-ready yet.
Great reporting Stephania! What is the status of Carolina's Steve Smith. Your thoughts on his production rest of the season and is he a good buy low candidate?
Why thanks Bob - I'll just tell all my bosses you gave me the all clear...I think it's too early to project on Smith but I'm not sure how I feel about his value for several reasons. A high ankle injury is obviously of more concern for a receiver and it looked to be fairly significant when it happened. Also, how about the QB situation? Clausen has not been good and who knows what the plan is? Also - the run game is not doing much which further hurts the passing game. I'm inclined to stay away.
What's going on with Jahvid the Best? Is his turf toe injury in the rear view or is going to linger all season?
Aaron: Hmmm. He has certainly improved over the last 2 weeks and is making a case for making us forget about the toe. But it's lingering in my mind, meaning I would not be at all surprised if one misstep or someone stepping on his toe turns it into a relapse. Certainly hope for him to continue moving forward but these are tough injuries and until he has three or four solid weeks behind him, I'm going to be suspicious.
Because of the Peyton Hillis injury concern as you mentioned throughtout his career dating back to college, would mike bell be a good pick up now?
Andy: Glad to see you were paying attention :)I think Bell would be a wise pickup. Right now Hillis appears to be heading into the game with a questionable tag, but Mangini (and Hillis himself) expects him to play. He returned to some practice Friday and was reportedly moving well. But we saw what happened last week. As he made big efforts, the thigh got worse and he was limping badly. This week he faces the Steelers and it will be hard-earned yardage and hard hitting. But they're not going to make Colt McCoy try to win the game throwing. I would imagine Bell will see some action immediately and maybe more so if Hillis has trouble with the leg. Long-term I think he'll be OK - as long as they don't let it get too severe this time around.
That's right, I care about FFB more than ALCS! I'm hearing Bradshaw is A OK. True?
CJ: As long as it's not more than NLCS with my beloved Giants...and as far as the "other" Giant you're asking about, yes he appears good to go and is off the injury report this week.
Reggie Bush? Back next week?
Are you teaching it or taking it??? Bush says he hopes to be back next week (but he also predicted he'd be back in 4 weeks, which is this week and he's not). He hasn't done any outdoor work yet so unless I see a big increase in his activity I think Week 8 earliest and then, with a bye in Week 9, if he's struggling at all, might be Week 10.
I am surprised you haven't put upa Moreano question yet. What is the latest and how do you think he will do this weekend? Thanks!
Jordan: Oh - thought I had. Maybe on Twitter earlier. Anyway - he was on the field Friday but seems he will be questionable for Sunday's game. Not convinced he's near full health after being out with his second hamstring injury of the young season. I would certainly not count on him for significant fantasy points, especially given that they're facing the Jets.
Stephania...I dont have a bye week until week10...
True - thanks Reggie for tuning in - why don't you tell the folks when you'll be back?
What's up with Dez Bryant? You think he'll play or am I better off putting in Mason against the Pats painfully porous secondary?
Bill: I go with Mason. I think Bryant will play even though Phillips expressed concern about his availability. I will say this - he's hurting. The ankle he injured in the preseason apparently coming back to bother him (bad high ankle injuries are tough) and he was on the field today but not doing too much. Could have a mediocre day Sunday if he plays - could have a good day, but may not be able to predict what you get in advance.
whats the deal with shinacoe?? is he 100%...does Moss hurt his value??? would you start him or M Lewis this week??
Jamie: Not sure whether Moss's presence alone hurts his value - but the fact that he's not 100% combined with Moss there probably does. Shiancoe was in practice but not doing everything. Expect he plays but may be a limited target. Probably go with Lewis who is turning out to be a star in the making...
OK everyone -time for me to vacate the room. Thanks so much for coming. Appreciate all the great questions. Hope to have more details in Saturday's injury blog. And you can get all the latest inactives and more on Sunday at ESPN.com and with us on Fantasy Football Now from 11:30-1:00 on ESPN2. Good luck in Week 6!!!
