Chat with KC Joyner

KC Joyner
  (4:01 PM)

Good afternoon! Let's talk some fantasy football!

Matt (Milwaukee)

Would you trade DeAngelo Williams for Fitzgerald?

KC Joyner
  (4:02 PM)

At this point, yes. Fitz has posted some solid games this year and should be able to do something with subpar quarterbacking. The entire Carolina offense is so bad right now that none of their players can be trusted fantasy wise.

Zach (Bronx, NY)

How long can we Texans fans expect to wait before Kareem Jackson gets it?

KC Joyner
  (4:04 PM)

It depends on what you mean by gets it. If you mean gets benched, I'd expect that sooner rather than later. Very little of his game has looked good this year (he's even worse than the Jets Kyle Wilson, as at least Wilson can point to a few good plays).

Rick (Work)

Moeoki against Hou or Lewis against Ten?

KC Joyner
  (4:04 PM)

Both should do well but I'd take Moeaki because he's being targeted vertically fairly often.

Seth (Still at work)

Hey KC! Who to start a banged up Megatron, a reunited Hines Ward with Big Ben, or Kenny Britt in a killer matchup?

KC Joyner
  (4:06 PM)

I like Britt but Derek Cox, the CB he is facing, looked a lot better this Sunday than he did in week one when he played so badly he ended up losing his job. I like Ward here, as Sheldon Brown has struggled of late and I think Ben has a really big game.

michael (Los Angeles)

Better flex play this week Zack Miller, Percy Harvin, Mike Williams (TB) or Garcon?

KC Joyner
  (4:07 PM)

I'd go Garcon. He had double digit targets from Peyton last week and that could very well happen again.

JP (New Orleans)

What are your thoughts on Mike Wallace? Top 15 receiver?

KC Joyner
  (4:08 PM)

This week I have him rated 17th but could have made a case to go even higher, as Eric Wright has been awful in coverage this year (big surprise there, as Wright had been quite good the past couple of seasons).

Omar (Baltimore)

Is Roy Williams' season so far for real?

KC Joyner
  (4:09 PM)

In a word, yes. When the light goes on for him, he can be a great WR and the light seems to have gone on. I believe he is still available in 40+% of ESPN leagues right now, so go get him if he is available in your league. I mean like right now - sign out of the chat, pick him up, then sign back in.

Steve Smith (Carolina)

What is my trade value these days?

KC Joyner
  (4:10 PM)

Really low. I might be downgrading him to a red rating (the lowest a WR can have) if his QB situation doesn't improve immediately.

Jeff (Florida)

Who would you want the rest of the year. Brady or Romo

KC Joyner
  (4:11 PM)

Romo. Brady will excel in the dink-dunk offense that is the NE passing game but Romo has multiple vertical threats. Got to take the deep game over the short one.

Jamie (sactown)

In a PPR league which WR you sitting out....Driver, Welker, Bess, Amendola??

KC Joyner
  (4:11 PM)

That's a tough one. I'd probably say Driver just because the D he is facing has some strong CBs.

Max (NY)

At this point in time, would you take Hakeem Nicks or Calvin Johnson

KC Joyner
  (4:12 PM)

Nicks. He's fast becoming one of the best WRs in the NFL (check out my blog post from last week to this effect on

Steve (Chicago)

I just followed the AFC East chat for an hour and not a single mention of Bieber, what an outrage. Happy Friday, KC. Who do you like more going forward, Fred Jackson or Beanie Wells?

KC Joyner
  (4:15 PM)

I posted this because after Bieber weighed in on Tom Brady's hair, I asked my wife what she thought of Brady's do. She likes it much better than the short haircut and I trust her opinion more than his, so Brady should keep his hair as is. OK, now to the fantasy question. Wells is who I would go with.

Knish (NYC)

KC...Im running Foster and Gore out there each week, I have cutler as QB...would you trade J Stewart for Orton?

KC Joyner
  (4:15 PM)

If someone will make that trade, you should absolutely do it. Stewart is a time share in a really bad offense with no WRs and a rookie QB. Orton is the crux of one of the best passing offenses in the NFL.

Omar (Baltimore)

PPR league (-1 point for missed catches) do I start Witten or Hernandez as my TE?

KC Joyner
  (4:17 PM)

-1 for missed catches - that's a very interesting wrinkle I've never heard of before. Anyone else got an interesting point rule like this in their league? Go with Witten.

Eddie (NC)

The wife HATES me playing fantasy football and she'll be home any minute. Gotta this in quick. Picked up Torain strictly as trade bait. Is giving up him and Vernon Davis too much for Gates??

KC Joyner
  (4:18 PM)

Time sensitive question - I'll aim to help in a hurry! You are giving up too much in that trade, as Gates' value could drop when Jackson returns.

Jessica Rabbit (Toon Town)

The guys in my league are eating their words from draft night, I'm dominating my league!I think Caddy loses touches in a big way. How would you rank Graham, Huggins and Blount in value for the rest of the season?Pick 2 to start this week - Megatron, Gaffney, Moore, Mike ThomasThanks for all the good advice to help me lay the smack down!

KC Joyner
  (4:19 PM)

Glad I could help! Just hope you are still saying that in a few weeks. TB running game is hit/miss because of the split backfield. Go with Megatron and Gaffney this week.

Bob (Madison, WI)

KC! I should have listened to your advice about Roy Williams last week. Yet another great call by the Football Scientist. Is Roy a better option than Calvin Johnson this week, if Calvin plays?

KC Joyner
  (4:21 PM)

Well, I wish I had more pull than I do, as Williams is still available in a ton of ESPN leagues at last check. Reminder #2 - get him right now if he is available in your league! And he is a better start than Calvin this week (could be facing either an injured Chris Cook or the Vikings

He-Man (Eternia)

By the power of Grayskull, YOU HAVE THE POWER!!! I need to choose 2 flex starters (TE are flex-eligible) in my half-PPR league: Tolbert, Gaffney, A Hernandez, BessPlease help!!! Battlecat sends his regards.

KC Joyner
  (4:22 PM)

I had a buddy in high school who watched that show all the time. I'd go Gaffney and Bess. And say hey to Battlecat for me!

The Dean (Arizona)

was last week a fluke for arian foster or is it time to sell?

KC Joyner
  (4:23 PM)

Keep Foster. That offense is still a very good one for any starting RB. He'll give plenty of value down the line.

Morgan (Baltimore)

I just traded for Michael Turner. Will the numbers he puts up for the rest of the season be closer to '09 or '08?

KC Joyner
  (4:24 PM)

'09. The Falcons offense is developing into one of the best in the league.

Matt (Santa Ana, CA)

Need to drop one due to bye week issues: Smith (NYG) or Maclin?

KC Joyner
  (4:24 PM)

Ouch. I'd have to go with Smith but would ask can't you drop a backup RB instead? Keeping Smith over a backup RB would be the best way to go.

Dave (TX)

Brady or Romo the rest of the year. Also would you trade on of them for Miles Austin

KC Joyner
  (4:25 PM)

If you have them both and can trade Brady for Austin, go for it. Romo is the better fantasy play for the rest of the year (although Brady will be a very good one).

Justin (NYC)

Time to give up on 'The Daily Show' ... or should I give him a couple more weeks? My thinking is that the Carolina offense is so putrid - I should try and get a decent return on him while I still can ...

KC Joyner
  (4:26 PM)

If you can get any return on him right now, consider it a great deal. The Carolina O is simply abysmal right now.

Malcom Floyd (CA)

Am I fo real?

KC Joyner
  (4:27 PM)

We all know the answer to that question.

mike (tx)

Ive got BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Steven Jackson, Frank Gore, Rashard Mendenhall, and LeSean McCoy. Any recommendations on what 3 to start?

KC Joyner
  (4:28 PM)

You'd have to bench Law Firm. Of the other three, Jackson might be the one to bench because of his recent injury and the state of the Rams WRs.

Dez Bryant (Dallas)

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. If Roy Williams season is real, am I worthless this year?

KC Joyner
  (4:29 PM)

If you are fantasy level worthless right now, it's probably due to injury as much as anything. Even a #4 WR in a pass-happy offense like Dallas' has value when healthy.

David (New York)

KC, Hillis can't be a good start this weekend. Even with him banged up, the Steelers are going to put 11 in the box, right?

KC Joyner
  (4:30 PM)

He's on the sit list this week because of the injury and the matchup. Just too big of a risk to put into the lineup.

another (KC)

do i risk playing a banged up favre against a fired up cowboys team or roll with the sanchize knowing the jets are going to run the ball constantly?

KC Joyner
  (4:31 PM)

Have you seen the Broncos secondary? Goodman is hurt, Bailey is off of his game (check out the TFS Insider article from this week for more details) and they will be playing a 3rd string safety. I'll take a healthy QB facing a matchup like that over a banged up one.

Sammy (NY)

Which team creates more turnovers this week, Steelers who will probably face a Browns team that will run the ball mostly or the Giants who will have plenty of chances at sacks and picks with a passing Detroit team?

KC Joyner
  (4:32 PM)

I'd go Giants in that one.

Jsmooth (SF, CA)

Banged up Hillis with tough Pitt matchup or MWilliams TB @ the flex?

KC Joyner
  (4:32 PM)

Williams - avoid Hillis this week.

JD (Idaho)

San Diego is warm. Cincinnatti is cold. Will Mathews be warmer than Benson moving forward?

KC Joyner
  (4:33 PM)

The recurring word that comes up when talking about Mathews is sore, as in he says he is sore after games, sore after practice, etc. I'm not sure he has the toughness to consistently excel in the NFL right now. Benson has that, so I'd stick with him (although that could change if Mathews suddenly figures out how to handle the pain).

Roxy (CA)

My WRs are Austin, White, Floyd, and Moore. My RBs kinda suck. Would I be wise to trade Floyd for an RB? If yes, who should I target for Floyd?

KC Joyner
  (4:34 PM)

If you want to trade Floyd, don't do it unless you get commensurate value in return. Get a top-line starter, in other words.

Matt (Nashville)

Which one QB should i start this week? Roethlisberger in his first start of the season against Cleveland. Cutler in his first start back from his concussion against Seattle or Flacco against New England?

KC Joyner
  (4:35 PM)

I really like Flacco against the Patriots D but Ben is the best play there. Going up against a bad secondary and in a home game for his return - just thinking he has a dominant showing this week.

Anthony Prisco (PA)

Which would you drop for R.Williams? Tate or Garcon? or Stay put.

KC Joyner
  (4:36 PM)

Tate. Garcon will get his vertical game in order. And definitely make the drop - Williams is on his game.

Dave (New York)

With the Vikes getting Moss, and Harvin seemingly playing better now that he's back in the slot, is it officially time to say goodbye to Sidney Rice??

KC Joyner
  (4:37 PM)

It's hard to trust injured players at any time but it is really hard to trust them after coming back from a serious surgery in-season. If you can get good value in return for dropping Rice, feel free to do so (i.e. don't drop him for a kicker or anything crazy like that).

Ray (Oakland)

Need to drop one (non-ppr): Gaffney or Amendola?

KC Joyner
  (4:38 PM)

I'd stick with Amendola. Gaffney is doing well but his PT will drop if/when Thomas gets healthy. Amendola will be the focal point for the Rams offense the rest of the year.

KC Joyner
  (4:38 PM)

Passing offense, that is.

jamie (sactown)

Which TE you starting....Shiancoe or M Lewis??

KC Joyner
  (4:39 PM)

Lewis. Shiancoe is banged up.

Kyle (Mizzou)

Trade Malcom Floyd for Shonn Green? Should I get more value from Floyd?

KC Joyner
  (4:39 PM)

Get more value, don't make that trade.

brian (de)

Assuming McFadden isn't playing, would I be crazy to start Michael Bush and LT over a beat up MJD on Monday night?

KC Joyner
  (4:40 PM)

Probably not crazy in that Tennessee has a good D.

Kevin (Nashville)

Do you agree that A. Collie's value for this season has already peaked?

KC Joyner
  (4:41 PM)

If he were healthy, I'd say no. If he gets over his injury (and the Colts have a bye in week 7, so he'll get some rest), he'll be back to posting dominant numbers.

Brandon (Atlanta)

Knox or Ward this week? No PPR.

KC Joyner
  (4:42 PM)

Ward. The Steelers should have a great game in Ben's return.

Max (NY)

Considering your article on Hakeem Nicks, does this make Eli Manning a top fantasy QB?

KC Joyner
  (4:43 PM)

He's still a borderline top fantasy QB because he is on what is in today's NFL a run-heavy team.

Mo (Jersey)

How long should I hold onto Breaston and Lou Murphy?

KC Joyner
  (4:43 PM)

Murphy I might drop. Breaston I'd keep until he comes back from his injury (which should be in another week or so).

Jon (AZ)

Who does Champ cover, Braylon or Holmes.

KC Joyner
  (4:44 PM)

The lineup matchup says he covers Braylon. Bailey hasn't played well this year (check out this week's TFS Insider article for more details), so Braylon should be considered a must start.

Adam (Houston TX)

I'm about to go to a Math class Friday at 5 o'clock. Please answer my question so I don't go insane. Which side of this trade do you like: MJD, Brandon Lloyd, Marshawn Lynch or Arian Foster, Greg Jennings, Marshawn Lynch

KC Joyner
  (4:45 PM)

Staving off insanity - glad I can help! Foster/Jennings/Lynch is the better choice.

John (MA)

Who should I drop to pick up M. Lynch, J. Stuart or J. Forsett?

KC Joyner
  (4:46 PM)

Stewart. Just don't like that version of The Daily Show (but Comedy Central's version is awesome).

Joe (West Va home of the Pepperoni Roll)

KC please where do you rank Roy Williams going forward? He's available - drop Mike Williams (TB) for him?

KC Joyner
  (4:47 PM)

I really like Mike Williams chances but Roy Williams is playing lights out. He's the kind of player who, even if he only does this for another 2-3 weeks, can win games for you on the strength of this play. Got to make the drop.

Katie (Boston)

Help me out KC I need to beat my boyfriend :) Do I start Flacco against my beloved Pats or do I start Big Ben vs. Cleveland?

KC Joyner
  (4:48 PM)

I'd go with Ben. Flacco should have a big game but the Browns secondary has been awful this year and Ben should have a dominant first game out of the gate.

Max (NY)

Who would you take at QB, Brady or Vick?

KC Joyner
  (4:49 PM)

The concern for Vick is twofold. One, what happens if Kolb continues to play well? Two, he is injury prone. I'd go with Brady.

Omar (Baltimore)

Regarding my scoring...PPR league 2 points for a catch, -1 for a target...I wanted to penalize drops and guys who can't catch the balls thrown at them, it's an imperfect scoring system, but I didn't want guys who get 20 balls their way getting unfair points.

KC Joyner
  (4:51 PM)

It is an interesting way of going about it. The only issue I see with it is that some scorers give receivers a target on throwaway passes by the QB. Don't want to cut their point totals for that kind of pass.

Dan (VA)

KC, I have a trade I am a considering and I've been trying to get a question in all week, you're my last chance! Darren McFadden or Pierre Thomas going forward? Thanks man

KC Joyner
  (4:52 PM)

Tough call. I'd probably lean towards DMC in that he would be the focal point of the Oakland offense, whereas Thomas would be one of many weapons for NO.

Curtis (Burbank, CA)

Is the Chiefs DST for real? They sure look the part.

KC Joyner
  (4:53 PM)

Brandon Flowers certainly is. I noted in this week's TFS NFL Insider article that he is giving up only 2.6 YPA on a high volume of passes this year. That YPA is a yard lower than what Revis put up last year.

Paul Hornung (Titletown USA)

Trading a QB for Marshall. Big Ben or Vick. Can't decide which one to give up, or do you think I'm giving up too much.

KC Joyner
  (4:53 PM)

Vick. The aforementioned injury woes could be a recurring concern.

Lou (VT)

With Big Ben back, my roster seems overloaded with Steelers - Mendenhall is a must start, but should I go Big Ben or Cutler and Ward or Crabtree? Three Steelers seems like too many eggs in one basket ...

KC Joyner
  (4:54 PM)

I'd probably go with three Steelers but if you want to bench one, bench Ward. Ben should have a dominant game this week.

Rhyno (supposed to be working)

Hey KC! I DID listen to your Roy Williams advice last week! Going forward who will be more worthy of a roster spot - Caddy or JStew??

KC Joyner
  (4:55 PM)

Glad I could help (although your employer might take a different view of that!). Go with Cadillac, just can't trust the Panthers offense right now.

Owen (Philly)

K-COOL, need a little help! I have LT, Greene, Foster and Gore. Lloyd is my only good WR. Offer on the table is D'Will and Boldin for Gore. Should I do it and get a better second WR???

KC Joyner
  (4:57 PM)

Don't make the trade. Greene may give next to nothing in value long term. Gore is a must start every week and, for as good as LT is, I'm not sure he'll reach that status every week.

Buddy the Elf (North Pole)

Its almost that time of year. Anyway, your thoughts on hillis this week. Im desperate with bye's this week.

KC Joyner
  (4:58 PM)

Sit Hillis. He's injured and on the road versus a Steelers D that is the best in the league.

Omar (Baltimore)

Okay, I took your advice (dropped my main man Dez Bryant for Roy Williams) so I have two WR spots and the flex...which three do I start out of Wayne, Lloyd, Colston, and Roy Williams?

KC Joyner
  (4:59 PM)

Bench Colston. He'll do well down the road (and is coming off of a fairly good game) but the other three are playing so well and have such favorable matchups that they have to trump him. Well, it's been a fun hour but I've got to run. Quick note - you can follow my material on Twitter at kcjoynertfs. Hope to see you all next week!
