Afternoon everyone: Welcome to the chat where we are talking about the MASH unit that exists on just about every team by this point in the season...Where do we begin?
With J Finley going down, and Lee shaken up, who do you expect to be the go to TE in GB for the next couple of weeks? Thanks, I hope you're having a fantastic week!
Hi Wes: I had to look this one up. I admit, I have been so enchanted with Finley and his performance that I hadn't looked beyond him and Lee on the depth chart. Andrew Quarless is his name -and he may be seeing action for the next few weeks.
Hey Stephania! Any news on Ed Reed's return? Ravens defense has been solid but not so much fantasy-wise
Alan: Ravens saying they expect him back Week 7 when eligible.
Hey Stephania! Hope you have good news...do you think that Vick will play this week against the Falcons?
Byron: I assume the "good" news you're looking for is Vick playing. But I have to say, it's too early to be sure. There were some promising reports floating around this weekend as to how much improvement Vick had made, but I think it's still a bit dicey. This is a very tough injury and upper ribs - especially cartilage area - very tough to protect/splint - and will be painful for a while.
How likely is it that Jay Cutler will play Sunday? Same question for Aaron Rodgers? Do you think Matthew Stafford will return in week 8 after Detroit's BYE week? THANKS
Daniel: Hearing that Cutler has been given the green light to return to practice as a full participant Weds. If he gets through with no problems, then he appears on track for Sunday. Rodgers too soon to tell, same with Stafford although appears Week 8 is the target.
With Hillis's thigh issues and a tough schedule the rest of the way would you sell high?
Bob: I'm not sure I would - and I don't know how high you get now that folks are aware he's hurt, esp if by Weds it looks like he won't play. Would not be surprised if they limit him in Week 6. Bye in week 8 so it gets a bit tricky. But I would expect Cleveland to be conservative given his history to ensure that he this does not turn into a big, protracted injury.
Sorry about your 49ers. Is there any new updates on Reggie Bush?? Tempted to add him for my ppr league. Thanks.
Angelica: Thanks for the sympathy. Nothing really new on Bush but it's not surprising to get little to nothing on players who were out the week prior until the first full practice Monday.
How confident are you in Stephen Jackson for the rest of the year?
M Lewis: I'm a LOT more confident after last week. SJax has played in both games since the groin injury and he looked even better last week than he did the week prior. Each week without a setback means he gets healthier...
Good afternoon Stephania! Portis? cut him loose? he's done for fantasy this yr, right?
John: I'd cut him loose. There's still certainly a chance that he returns to the team this season (and that's the expectation as of now), but groin injuries are tough to recover from, especially one of this severity - and if/when he does return, no guarantee that he does get back his number one spot...so risky...
Just lost Clayton for the year. Who do you like better on the waiver wire, Amendola or Britt?
Jacob: Hmmm, probably Britt.
Hey Stephania, whats up with Joseph Addai? Is the injury serious or not? Thanks!
Tom: Not getting the impression that it's a serious injury -but whether it's enough to impact his status for this week is another matter. Addai did NOT go through Monday light practice which wasn't a huge surprise. Weds practice should give us more. The good news is Donald Brown looks as if he might be back this week.
Megatron, sounds scary. Should we prepare for the worst?
Joe: Definitely prepare. Now the Lions haven't given us anything other than some ominous quotes, like Jim Schwartz saying "very concerned." But he also said he hopes to have him in practice this week...so we just don't know. But with a bye in Week 7, I'm thinking if there's at all a reason for caution, then he might be out at least this week (and you need a replacement the following week anyway).
Give me an update on Arian Foster please.
Pablo: Ran with the team Monday and Kubiak called his prognosis for Week 6 good. Let's hope it's back to the Foster we've come to know and love and not what we saw in Week 5.
What's the Colts' lineup look like this week and who's at 100%?
Michael: Don't know if you could call anyone 100% there. We touched on Addai and Brown. Gonzalez is back in practice so he might come available soon. Collie was back in the boot Monday - but he played and ran well Sunday (just wasn't targeted as much but no surprise b/c Garcon was back and he was less than 100%). Want to see what Collie does this week in practice.
Any updates on Run DMC? Is he a few weeks away or is he closer to returning this week?
Mike: The team hasn't said much but the beat writers who cover the team seem pretty confident that DMC is out another week...making it another strong week for M Bush.
Stephania I got killed in week 5 suffering my first loss. I thought philly's injuries would make san fran look good and well that didn't work out. Is Gradkowski out for week 6, also is Collie safe to play for week 6? Thanks.
Marcie: If you're only at your first loss, that's pretty good! Not many undefeated fantasy teams left. Gradkowski is a big question mark I'd say given how much his throwing shoulder appeared to be bothering him last Sunday. Cable says he's the starter if healthy, but that's a big if...My guess right now is that if no worse, Collie plays since he did last week.
I assume McCoy is good to go after that performance on Sunday night?
Dave: Yes, he came out of it feeling pretty good so expect him to go again this week.
Steph, Ryan Mathews? Starter or is he still banged up to where the Chargers continue to limit his PT?
Chris: Sounds like they might be ready to open it up again with him. Sounds like the team wants to give the focus back to him soon.
More on Finley... in your expert opinion, will he be out closer to 3 weeks, or 6 weeks? makes a big difference in which FA TE I target tonight...
Jamie: Really can't say with any accuracy right now. his surgery was scheduled for today - and a lot depends on what they end up doing. Then recovery can be very individual. Some guys have more swelling than others and take longer to get their quad strength back. Then they have to work their way back to running, cutting, other impact activities. I think 3 weeks is pretty optimistic for anyone - but then look at Beanie Wells, that's what his time frame was. So...I can give you a guess, but it would be a guess.
We start one IDP player in our league. Mine happens to be Clay Matthews. Any word on the injury front and his status for week 6? Gracias!
Juan: Sounds like his hamstring injury is not as serious as first thought...expect he'll be limited in practice, but not convinced he will be out for this week. Prob day-to-day.
Is Ray Rice back to full health now?
Grant: Sure appears that way. No concerns from the Ravens.
How serious is MJD's wrist injury, is there any chance he won't play Monday against the Titans? thanks!
Doug: Sure looked serious when it happened. Teammates said he was screaming in pain. I thought he might have broken something based on his reaction. Apparently x-rays were negative and he was able to get back in the game so all signs are encouraging in that regard. So far he's played through everything and think he continues to do so again.
How are we feeling about Moreno... Going to come back with some impact?
Brian: Definitely nervous about him. Two major hamstring injuries and not much playing time in between. While he hasn't been ruled out for this week, we still need to see what he does in practice before getting excited. And then I need to see him play in several consecutive weeks before I'm sold on his health.
Is Favre's tendonitis worrisome? Not much he can do but ice it, right?
Jason: He acted like it was bothering him last night - but he also managed to throw pretty well relative to how bad it seemed to be bothering him. Hmmm. Rest, ice, stretch - not much to do in season - maybe an injection if he hasn't had a couple already - other than that, not much.
You just brought up Beanie, so I was wondering, is he fully good to go or is he still limited?
Mike: Full go - from what Cards are saying - and his workload went up a lot this past week.
how much does Amendola's value rise with Clayton on IR. Do you also see Gilyard being a nice pick up?
Danny: I love Gilyard. Saw him this summer at camp and think he's got a lot of promise, although hard to know how much action he'll truly get off the bat. PRobably will evolve as he plays more. Amendola's value clearly goes up as he moves up the line with Clayton gone.
What's up with Revis? Did he let peer-pressure set him back significantly?
Ernie: Not peer pressure - simply a hamstring that's not yet healed. Now he says he was really sore, swollen after game - and clearly not running as he normally would. Would not be a big surprise if he's out this coming week.
Do you think that Pierre Thomas will play this week?
Nathan: When Payton was getting ready to rule out Thomas last week, he did note that he had been doing some jogging, other light activities and was doing well with that. He said he though he'd have a "good shot" at playing this week, so while there's still a lot of time, it's somewhat encouraging.
Whats the QB situation for OAK and CLE in week 6? I need a starter since Im trading for Rodgers.
Ian: Oakland up in air still, Browns looks like it will be Colt McCoy with both Wallace and Delhomme hurt.
Hi Star! Back to Vick for a moment, even if he does play, will he be at a high risk of being re-injured, and then replaced by the capable Kolb? Seems risky...
Hi Tyler: I think, yes, if he does manage to get in the game this week I'd be concerned about how he'd hold up. Somehow I just see him being out this week as well.
Hey Stephy Bad News, can you change things up and give me some good news about Ahmad Bradshaw? I'm worried that he's not going to last the season with all his various ailments.
Todd: Well I can't guarantee he'll last, but this guy is someone who plays through a bunch of pain. Remember last year he played on two bad feet and a bad ankle. I think he's got some chronic instability in those ankles and is going to sprain from time to time...but he's otugh and plays through. He said he was sore after the game but not enough to keep him from playing.
Any word on Jacoby Jones and the rest of the Houston receivers?
Nate: Jacoby is day to day after missing last week b/c of the calf strain. He could very easily miss this week too. Expect johnson to keep playing. He did better this week after having a week to rest. Would not surprise if they limited him in practice but expect Johnson to go.
Any news on Steve Smith from Carolina? What about jeff otah?
Daniel: Not much on Smith. Was on crutches last week - and it's sounding as if we won't hear much until after the bye. We really haven't heard much about Otah but without him the run game has suffered for sure (at least that's one contributing factor). Hopefully we'll hear more after this week but never was really expecting him back until wk 7 earliest. When teams have a bye week, they don't have to file injury reports and they tend not to say too much, so prob will be quiet on these fronts until next week.
Short and simple...Dez Bryant?
Dave: Reportedly fine.
OK gang - I need to get going. Have a great afternoon and we'll see you back here Friday at 3 pm EST!!!
