Chat with Bill WIlliamson

Bill Williamson
  (2:03 PM)

Hi everyone, let's get rolling.

Andy (San Diego)

Hey Bill, if the Chargers lose Sunday and drop to 2-5 are they done in your eyes?

Bill Williamson
  (2:04 PM)

It won't be easy because they then have the Titans and the Texans. I wouldn't say they'd be done because they are used tocoming back, but it would not be an easy road at all.

Robb (Colorado)

Hey, Bill,I am not as down on the Broncos as some others, although I admit to being biased. Tough schedule so far that lightens up with all 6 Division games, plus SF, STL, AZ, and Hous. 8-8 isn't unreasonable with 4 AFC West Wins. Last two games are home against warm weather teams.

Bill Williamson
  (2:06 PM)

I can see it. I think Denver cna go on a mini-run here. They have shown they are fairly competitive, but they need to learn to finish.

Chris Sessler (Lee's Summit, MO)

Is this the week the Chiefs get back Tyson Jackson?

Bill Williamson
  (2:07 PM)

He practiced fully Wednesday. So, if he doesn't have any setbacks, I think so.

Andrew (Atwater,Ca) [via mobile]

Who gives the Raiders a better chance of winning sunday Campbell or Boller?

Bill Williamson
  (2:08 PM)

Well, it's tough to make a case for Campbell after he posted that whopping 10.7 passer' rating in the loss to the 49ers. But Boller hasn't started a game in two years. So, if healthy, I'd say Campbell ... get back to me next week, though.

Jeff (KCK)

The Chiefs defense looked like the old defense in the fourth quarter. What happened? Did you see any specific breakdowns?

Bill Williamson
  (2:10 PM)

I'm giving them a mulligan on that one. Houston was just possessed in the fourth quarter. But it is something to watch to make sure it doesn't continue.

Knish (NYC)

Do you think Crayton will get targets this weekend vs NE?

Bill Williamson
  (2:14 PM)

With Floyd likely out, Naanee maybe out and Gates gimpy at best. Yes, I think we'll see a lot of Crayton on Sunday.

Chris Sessler (Lee's Summit, MO)

Which position on the Chiefs do you think needs the most improvement, or who needs to play better?

Bill Williamson
  (2:15 PM)

Passing game, for sure. Quarterback and Receivers need to get better. It was a good start against Houston.

todd (denver)

is moreno healthy? and will denver attempt to become more balanced against oak?

Bill Williamson
  (2:17 PM)

He played Sunday against the Jets and had 48 yards on 12 carries. Not bad for a rusty player against a good run defnese. Yeah, I'd say he's finally.

Bill Williamson
  (2:17 PM)

Ryan (San Diego)

Are the Charges the best 2-4 team ever? They are 1st in defense and offense!!!!11!!!!1!!!!!!

Bill Williamson
  (2:20 PM)

It's silly, isn't it?

Todd (DSM, IA)

Do you see McCluster getting more touches this week with this slow Jags D?

Bill Williamson
  (2:22 PM)

I think so. He is a playmaker. They need to get the ball in his hands.

Al (NY)

What do you think the timeshare will be like in the Oakland backfield this week?

Bill Williamson
  (2:23 PM)

Probably Bush heavy, since McFadden is still coming along from the injury.

Travis (AZ)

What do you think is wrong with the Chargers? Leadership? Coaching? It sure isnt Talent!

Bill Williamson
  (2:23 PM)

Slop. That's all it is.

mustafa (monterey)

can the raiders win 7 games this year they already have 2 and only need five more

Bill Williamson
  (2:25 PM)

Can they go 5-5? It may be tight.

Greg (NY)

If Kyle Orton continues to play at a really high level like he has been this year, would you call him and elite qb?

Bill Williamson
  (2:28 PM)

Well,Elite is reserved for the big, big boys. But upper echelon perhaps and there's nothign wrong with being in the upper echelon.

Anthony (Happy Valley, PA)

Do you think Ryan Matthews is going to get back to #1 back status in San Diego and get that offense back on track?

Bill Williamson
  (2:29 PM)

Mathews has had trouble with that ankle, but I think he will be healthy soon. He doesn't have huge numbers, but he's running pretty well.

Greg (NY)

Since the Broncos decided to table the contract talks with Champ Bailey, do you think there is any chance that Bailey stays upset with Denver and leaves for another team in free agencey?

Bill Williamson
  (2:32 PM)

There's that risk, for sure. Bailey has said he is not happy about it. I mean, there deal was all but done before Denver took it off the table. So, yeah, thee's some bitterness and there's a chance it could blow up. But, in the end, I think Bailey ends up staying in Denver.

JeremyB666 (Traverse City, Michigan)

Are the Chiefs legit and can they make the playoffs?

Bill Williamson
  (2:36 PM)

I think the Chiefs have shown they are not a fraud and they are competitive. That was proven in the losses to the Colts and the Texans. Yet, they need to go back home and beat the Jaguars and Bills in the next two weeks.

kirk (kcmo)

hey bill, what are your thoughts on the def pass interference call on brandon flowers on sunday? which was obviously not the right call, do you think it would've been a different outcome if that penlty was never call?

Bill Williamson
  (2:37 PM)

It was terrible. What's the infraction? I was there and I didn't see it.

Ryan (San Diego)

The Chiefs defense hasnt played anyone who can pass that well since the Chargers. Taking out Peyton as he played terribly despite wide open receivers all game. And Rivers threw for over 300 on them in terrible weather

Bill Williamson
  (2:37 PM)

Matt Schaub, anyone?

Chris (LA)

If the Raiders lose 2 out of the next 3 games (or maybe all 3), do you think we're going to see another Al Davis live-coach firing episode during the bye week? Cable got the QB he wanted, doesn't have to call the plays - just has to worry about the O-Line, and he still can't do that . Time to call Minny and interview Leslie Fraizer.

Greg P (Staten Island,NY)

Bill, is the masterplan for Denver to have Orton qb next yr and then turn over team to Tebow in 2012? Do you see Den signing Orton past his extension yr?

Bill Williamson
  (2:42 PM)

On Oakland: If Oakland is 3-6 or worse at the bye, maybe there will be a change. I could see it. If Oakland is 3-6 under Tom Cable at the bye it would be a major dissapointment by a team that has talked playoffs for months .... on Denver: That's the plan, but the way Orton has been playing maybe he will get another extension.

TicketViper (Kansas City)

If the Chiefs win their next two home games (Which is likely), do you view the Chargers or the Broncos as the team that "can" catch the Chiefs?

Bill Williamson
  (2:45 PM)

It would depend on what SD and Denver does in the next two games. The Chargers, who are 2-4 after playing an easy schedule, play the Patriots and Titans at home while Denver plays Oakland at home and then goes to London to play the 49ers. If the Chargers and Broncos improve to 4-4 after thsoe games, perhaps they will have to be accounred for. Stil, the Chiefs would have to be pleased at 5-2.

threeonesix (Wichita)

If KC makes the playoffs, maybe even wins a home playoff game, do you see Crennel or Weis getting head coach offers from any of the many teams that could be looking after the season?

Bill Williamson
  (2:46 PM)

I think they'd have to do it for another year.

Brandon (TX)

Was the pass interference call on flowers given just because it was andre johnson on the receiving end?

Bill Williamson
  (2:49 PM)

Andre Johnson is very talented at pushing off and not getting called for it.

Kevin (South Carolina)

Do you think Matt Cassel can take the Chiefs to the playoffs and is he a franchise player?THanks.

Bill Williamson
  (2:50 PM)

Franchise player? Probably not, but legitimate, sure.

Rich (Weymouth,MA)

IF both Floyd and Gates are out of the lienup can Rivers still put up numbers and lead his team to a win or will they try to run more?

Bill Williamson
  (2:52 PM)

Itd be tough, especially with Naanee hurting with a hamstring injury. There would be a lot of presurre on Buster Davis, Patrick Crayton and the running game.

Gavin (Overland Park, KS)

Do you see differences between the 2010 Chiefs and 2009 Broncos that indicate the former being more inclined to make the playoffs? If so, what are those diffferences

Bill Williamson
  (2:53 PM)

The Chiefs are younger and are clearly learning on the job. That means they should get better.

Dan (DC)

What's the latest news on Gates? SD have a chance without him?

Bill Williamson
  (2:54 PM)

Today is a big day. If he practices, he has a real shot to play Sunday.

Rickety Cricket (San Diego)

Jason Campbell is a panic machine and Bruce Gradkowski keeps getting hurt! What can the Raiders do?

Bill Williamson
  (2:55 PM)

Try to find a QB of the future ...and this time make it work.

kenree987 (in)

will brandon flowers or Tamba Hali make the pro-bowl this year?

Bill Williamson
  (2:56 PM)

I think Hali may have a better shot, but he'll need to pad those sack numbers. Flwors is very good, but the CB posiiton is stacked.

Matt (Spokane, WA)

So if the Chargers are first in offense, and first in defense, what is missing... hmm... oh yeah-- they have the worst special teams EVER! Any chance that gets fixed?

Bill Williamson
  (2:57 PM)

It has issues every week. So, I'm not so sure.

Mike (NYC)

Is Champ Bailey a Hall of Famer? If so, would he go in as a Bronco?

Bill Williamson
  (2:59 PM)

In football, players don't go in representing a certain team. And yes. he's a hall of famer.

Leif (Charleston)

Do you think the Chargers can pull it out this weekend even with the injuries?

Bill Williamson
  (2:59 PM)

Sure, they're good at home.

Andy (San Diego)

Should the Chargers slide to 2-6 or 2-7 do you think there's any chance Norv is fired mid season and Ron Rivera finally gets a shot to be a head coach?

Bill Williamson
  (3:00 PM)

I think Norv makes it through the season. The team's brass likes him a lot.

Bill Williamson
  (3:01 PM)

Great hour, thanks folks. Enjoy Week 7. Talk to you next week.
