Thanks for dropping by. Let's get to it.
Bruce...what do you think about the Boise St./LA Tech game tonight?
I think Boise State is going to win by a lot of points, but it won't satisfy critics because they'll look sloppy doing it and because it's still only LT they're beating.
Where and when do you post your predictions and scores for October 31 on Insider?
It went up yesterday.. Here's the linkhttp://insider.espn.go.com/ncf/blog?name=feldman_bruce&id=5737104
Are the soft early season home schedules setting up the high ranked teams for failure once their conference season starts?
Some coaches think that way, because once you get into close games you won't be as prepared. Still, there are less hurdles to clear and you can win them without having your A game.
Bruce, I recently read an article proclaiming Andrew Luck as the best QB prospect in 10 years and have seen him compared to John Elway and Peyton Manning. In your opinion, is that just hyperbole or is he that good of a prospect??
I think he is outstanding, but this stuff is such a crapshoot. Remember there were a lot of NFL people who liked Leaf over Manning.
Thoughts on the NU-Missouri game this weekend?
Think it'll be too hard for Mizzou to get back up after such a huge emotional week.
what is the craziest thing that has happened so far this season? in your opinion
I feel like UCLA thumping Texas at UT although ISU going in there last week gives me some hesitation on that.
BF, You didn't pick the UGA/FL game this weekend in your pics? What gives? I know they aren't ranked for the 1st time in 31 yrs but it is still The Worlds Largest Outdoor Coctail Party!!!! Do my DAWGS finally come home a winner???
I think UF will play well after the bye week. Of course, I've picked UF to win their past three games and they've looked inept on offense in each of them.
bad pick bruce
Do you think we see two teams with losses on their records playing for the National Championship?
I doubt it. I don't see a two-loss team leapfrogging the unbeatens which will be Boise and the winner Utah-TCU, not to mention MSU or a one-loss Big Ten team and perhaps the Ducks/Mizzou.
Are you for the BCS or would you prefer Armageddon?
I'd like to see an 8-team playoff. Not any bigger than that though.
In your opinion what is the strongest conference in college football?
I'd say SEC over the Big Ten.
Keep on pickin FL then!!!!!!!!!! And you picked SC to so looks like we may be in ATL this december!!
Yes, and then I'll pick Bama or Auburn to beat the SEC East champ.
Bruce, with all the upsets you and Forde are picking, are you secretly hoping that Boise State plays for the National Championship? By the way, MSU loses at Iowa, Auburn wins, USC wins a close game and TCU wins too. Can BSU get to #2 in the BCS then?
If Mizzou wins this week vs. Nebraska after having beating OU, I think they'd have a good case to jump over Boise. ... I just want to see good match-ups and good games in the bowls. I would like to see Boise or TCU play teams from power conferences in their bowls not each other though.
Does South Carolina have a chance of finishing in the top 10?
Yeah, but they need Lattimore healthy and obviously can't afford the typical late season swoon.
Seriously Bruce? You think it's going to be hard for Mizzou to get back up against Nebraska, with the Big 12 North and an undefeated season on the line? I'd like to actually hear an X's and O's reason why Mizzou won't win Saturday. Thanks.
It's the emotional tank.. There's a reason why college teams rarely play their best in consecutive tough spots. Look what happened to Oregon last year after beating USC. Or how much Miss State struggled last week against UAB after winning in the Swamp.
Big 12 not even in the mix huh
No, look how bad Texas is.. OU has been really on in one game (FSU).. A&M is shaky, Tech is down, CU is mediocre. It's Mizzou and a lot of other inconsistent teams.
If Michigan State wins at Iowa this week, do they leapfrog TCU and/or Boise State?
Probably. Winning there to go along with the rest of their Ws would be a strong case.
Most LSU fans are sick of Les Miles' lack of game management skills and want him canned. If Les loses 2 or 3 of the last reg season games and gets fired, who do you think would be a good replacement? And is LSU still a 'premier' job?
He's won a title and a lot of games. Would changing OCs satisfy some critics? Probably not I guess.. Yes, LSU is still a top job and I'd be curious if Muschamp would be tempted or would they try and lure a Kyle Whittingham over or Mike Stoops. Would they give the keys to Gus Malzahn as a first-time head coach?
I am a fan of speed, Who is the fastest college football player right now?
Bruce,Your thoughts on the tragedy at ND this week.
Such a sad story. The Tweets and Facebook postings he supposedly made right before the tragedy are really eerie. I'm kinda surprised they're playing the game against Tulsa this weekend considering it happened at midweek during a team practice.
Bruce, who is your coach of the year at this point.
Either Chizik, Dantonio or Pinkel.
Despite the issues PSU is having, I've found this season to be very entertaining thus far. How would you assess it as we close October, Bruce?
I thought they were rakned too high in the preseason given the new QB and the turnover on D to go with some rough road trips. Didn't expect them to get drilled by Illinois at home. It's been a little worse than I expected.
In your opinion, is Ricky Stanzi a draftable quarterback? He's putting up quite the numbers this year...
Sure, he's got good size and has played in a lot of big games and his decision-making has improved and he's a tough kid.
C'mon, Miles won a title w/2 losses! When does that happen?
He won a BCS title. Doesn't matter with how many losses they had. Other teams won national titles without playing 12 game regular seasons or having conference title games to survive.
QUESTIION TO BRUCE FELDMAN AT 2.45 HI BRUCE WHO WINS IOWA CITY TOMORROW HAWKEYES OR SPARTY
I'm picking the home team, Iowa.
Regardless of SOS, ranking or public perception, who do you think is the best team in college football?
I'd picking Alabama against anyone on a neutral field. I think Oregon has looked the most impressive and I think Auburn has built the best resume.
Why isn't Chip Kelly being considered as a top choice for coach of the year? None of the pundits ever name him among the top choices. All he's done is overcome losing his starting QB while virtually revolutionizing the blur/hurry-up offensive attack and leading the Ducks to their first ever #1 ranking.
Good point.. if his team keeps this up he certainly deserves to be talked about in that group.
Who would win, an all-star SEC team or an all-star PAC10-Big12-Boise/TCU team?
I like this question a lot. My hunch is the All SEC one would it would have Newton, the Bama RBs, Julio Jones, Alshon Jeffrey and AJ Green, Nick Fairley, Nevis and Patrick Peterson.
Jason, that's a 15 yard penatly for illegal chat procedure. There is no playing of the "No respect" card here. Repeat 1st down.
Three more questions... Gotta run early today. Need to drive down to OC because I'm appearing on the Jim Rome is Burning show.
Why are you surprised ND/Tulsa are playing? What would postponing the game accomplish? It's a tragedy but I fail to see how not playing has any benefit.
The school has cancelled all other football related events. Kelly hasn't even addressed anything yet. I guess I'm saying that because this tragedy happened at practice and it was just 48 hours ago.
Anyone else with thoughts on that? Curious to hear other comments.
Bruce the non-SEC team would have Kellen Moore, L. James, OK St. WR, TCU defence players, I think I could put together a good argument the other way.
I thought it was per conference, not SEC vs. the field and the non BCS conferences bunch were their own group.
Maybe playing the game in his memory will help heal a little of the loss. I am sure the videographer would want them to play the game as he must have loved the game himself.
I guess I'd leave it up to the players and coaches to decide regarding the tragedy at Notre Dame. We've seen sporting events go on before after a tragedy.
No matter whose fault it is, Coach kelly takes some blame and has to live with that death....hard to imagine a father and this kids peers beinga ble to focus on a meaningless game
When Kirby Smart leaves after this season of what team does he become the head coach?
Depends what's out there. I think Malzahn right now is an even hotter candidate. Plus, schools traditionally hire offensive guys more than defensive guys or at least have in the past five yrs or so.
Good luck in the jungle today.
Thanks. Looking forward to it.
Bruce: Do you think Meyer's offense can win year in and year out in the SEC? The only time the offense has consistely clicked for an extended period was in 2008 when UF won the National Title. The problem though is that that team had the luxury of centering the offense around the two most dynamic offensive weapons in school history. This would lead one to conclude that the success was propelled by the personnel rather than the system......Agree?
I think it can. It's just a matter of finding the right parts that fit the offense well. Without that it seems forced and the offense doesn't have much of an identity. Plus, Tebow and Spikes and Hernandez and Cooper brought a lot of leadership and play-making savvy to that team. Tough to replace that overnight.
Thanks for all of the questions. If I didn't get to yours, send it to me via Twitter at BFeldmanESPN. Enjoy the games.
