Happy Friday everyone!! I know you have questions. I've got answers...or opinions...or both. Let's go...
Will Donald Driver play this week?
Tom: Expect him to based on the fact that he has the last couple weeks, despite the quad injury.
Will Malcolm Floyd be able to continue success on the field with a bad hammy?
Martha: Well, he's all but officially out for this week and the thought is that it will be longer. The question becomes will he be healed enough when he comes back to deliver a solid performance. The answer unfortunately is wait and see.
Should I be worried about the possibility of Gates being shut down should the Chargers lose another game or two ? Has the injury gotten any better/worse and how much will the bye week help.
Justin: Well, the possibility exists that he could be, although at this point there's no outward talk of that...but it wouldn't be b/c they're shutting down the season. It would only be if his condition worsened to the point where he was at greater risk or simply couldn't play. I don't think it's worsened, but it doesn't seem to be specifically better. Bye week can only help.
Hey Stephania, any updates on Reggie Bush?
RYan: Seems like he'll be out this week given that he hasn't really been able to test it in practice. While he's been medically cleared, need to remember that for the last 5 weeks he has not been doing agility drills, live practice, etc and needs to get that back to be in shape to play in games.
What are your thoughts on Donald Brown for Monday night? Is he ready to go? Picked up Hart just in case...
Suzy: The best news we've had is that Brown said today that if the game were today, he'd play. I would plan on Brown being back, especially with it looking more and more like Addai won't be. I think it's good to have Hart as insurance, esp b/c Brown is coming back from a hamstring and we know these can resurface. But right now it looks like Brown very well could be the Mon night starter.
Heard Carson Palmer and Zach Miller were held out of practice...anything to worry about?
Matt: Don't think so. Palmer reportedly with sore hip but better today. Miller does not seem to be causing a stir in Oakland. So not worried...yet.
Not another WR injury ... any word on Reggie Wayne? I am guessing he suits up and plays great, any reason I should think different?
Adam: I haven't heard anything that makes me suspicious about Wayne. Likely resting him intermittently as they try to keep health(ier) receivers on the field.
d williams for carolina listed as doubtful. What do you think his chances of playing are?
jon: WHenever I see doubtful, I expect a player to sit. It's officially a less than 25% chance - but most times when used, it means a guy is not ready to play. And Williams has not practiced, so plan on Stewart.
Moreno good to go this week?
Michael: The word is that he returned to practice and is expected to play. I would still say that I'm a bit concerned about him since the hammy bothered him in practice and he was chatting with the medical staff about it Weds. McDaniels then said Thur he expected to get "some" play from him Sunday. I think Sunday will be a go - but his action could vary wildly depending on how the leg feels in game.
any word on Vernon Davis?
Darin: Davis practiced Friday. He's listed as q but sounds like team expects him to play.
Young vs. Collins. Still looking like Young will be the starter?
James: Yes - he's practiced every day. Collins has not. Young expected to start this week.
I'm on pins and needles worring about the status of S. Jackson...any updates?
Rich: No need to worry. Jackson told reporters today that he will "absolutely" be out there Sunday. The pins are in the ring finger on his non-dominant hand, so while they are trying to find a good splint to protect it while still allowing him some flexibility so he can catch the ball, he can carry freely with his right hand.
I had Romo and Ryan for my qb's so now I need a Romo replacement and bye week filler. Who do you like more for this week Stafford or Kitna?
Griffin: Somehow feel like I'm doomed whichever way I go on this, but dare I say it, I like Stafford. I think he will be very fresh coming off of several weeks away from contact and the team coming off a collective bye. He's been throwing for a couple of weeks now and his main target, Calvin Johnson, no longer on the injury report. I think Kitna, despite the experience will struggle more.
Steffy Bad News - just saw an update: Gates was at practice today for the first time in 2 weeks - "jogging routes and catching passes"....GOOD NEWS for Gates owners!!
Jason: Yes! Thanks for the note...I think Gates' likely playing Sunday was not too much in doubt, although this is a sign that brings a lot of relief to fantasy owners (assuming he doesn't feel terrible tommorrow). Last week he appeared uncomfortable, dropped a key pass, seemed to have trouble pushing off at times- and yet still caught a TD, had a few catches and turned in decent fantasy points. Imagine if he feels a little better. And RIvers doesn't have much.
Legeduuuuuuuuuu! What say you on Mr. Naanee? Practiced Weds, but not Thurs?
ACE: And according to the San Diego Union-Tribune, was nowhere to be found during Fri practice. All of which is making me more nervous about his Sun status...let's see how they qualify him on the injury report later...
PLLLLLLLLEAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSEEEEEE!!!! Would you drop Pierre Thomas? How long is he going to miss?
Mike: Well, when you ask like that....I honestly think this is a very tough situation. look, if the people who are evaluating him can't totally agree on what's going on, how are we to know? I think at this point if you really need help in your RB dept, you have to move on, b/c we have no timetable on him right now. If you can stash him on the bench, then do it b/c he's valuable late in the season if he makes it back.
Run DMC, did he come out the denver game without any setbacks from his injury?
Rick: Apparently he was fine as he has not been on the injury report this week. So far, so good.
Steffy Bad News! Whats the deal with Garcon's status... Has he had a set back?
Chris: Have not heard of any setback. Remember with Mon night game, Colts do not have to label status of players until Saturday. But Garcon's pattern has been to sit out a day of practice during the week, so I'm not overly concerned about the Thurs report.
Stephania, how 'bout those Giants?!?! Where did that offense come from?Any word on the status of Revis Island? Is Jennings looking at a long and lonely week out there?
AJ: Expect Revis to play. He's been putting in full practice and RYan seems to be excited about how he looks. So it sounds like Revis getting back to his former self.
Any concerns with O. Daniels this week? He seems to have the Q tag on him.
Tracey: Have not heard of any setbacks. Daniels has had a couple of issues (hamstring in particular) and been on a gradual progression post-ACL surgery.
I've never had a question picked, why? When does addai come back? Please explain "dead-arm"
TC: Guess that changes today! Addai has been on a day-to-day assessment and there's no way to put a timetable on this one. While Addai looks like he won't go Monday night, we haven't heard much about how he's doing. The "dead" thing is Addai's term, but when we hear that it's a nerve issue in his shoulder, it sounds as if he's had some loss of sensation(numbness) (or altered sensation, like tingling) and also some weakness in the arm (since he couldn't lift it overhead). THe rate at which that comes back is not set in stone, but the COlts will not let him take a chance on further injury while those symptoms are still present.
Halloween party tonight. Heading out with a group of friends from the same fantasy football league and we're dressing up as the podcast crew. The only girl of the group (she's in second place) dressing up as Bad News. No question, just thought I'd post and say thanks for all you do and Hope Halloween brings your decimated team treats not tricks.
John - Now THAT is scary...but thanks so much...
Why is Giants DE Mathias Kiwanuka Out for the Season?
Chris: He has a herniated disc in his neck - and while it's an injury that they expect/hope recovers on its own without surgery, it is a slow process and certainly a situation where he can't risk any blows to the head/neck, etc. So they decided best bet given expected lengthy recovery was to place him on IR.
Has no one asked about Favre yet or did I miss that question? I'm actually more concerned about how his status affects Moss. Do you think he'll play...and I know that's not an easy question to answer with him! Thanks!
Bryan: I actually think we haven't touched on it yet...if you can believe that. Feels like I've been talking about him nonstop though. Not easy to answer obviously, the latest we're hearing is a gtd but he did do some practice today, unclear how much, but what we have heard is that the practice today did not solidify the decision. Whether that's true internally or not, don't know, but put it this way...if up to Favre, he plays. If coaches decision, well, then who knows.
How is Jahvid's turf toe? Matt Stafford close to 100%?
Jake: Better - but even coach Jim Schwartz finally acknowledged this week that it's not likely to be 100% healthy this year. THat said, the bye week came at a good time. Expect a decent performance unless there's a setback.
How long does a foot sprain like Williams' take to heal? Should I plan for a back-up next week too?
Dan: Problem is we don't know exactly where the sprain is in the foot or the degree of injury, both of which we need to give any sort of accurate answer. Best advice would be to plan for the backup situation and then keep a close eye on his activity.
FYI - update on Gradkowski in Oakland is that he did very light work Friday and is not expected to play...another start for Jason Campbell.
OK, I will take off my Freddie Kruger mask and ask again. Status on Keller and Todd Heap. And why did Heap just fall over on Sunday untouched. Why is no one talking about that?
Jason: Keller no longer on injury report for what it's worth. As far as Heap, he suffered a stinger in the game. With the bye this week, we don't get much additional information so we'll have to wait until next week to get a better idea as to his status.
Hey, Steph. He hasn't been discussed much, but could you talk about McNabb? How bad is his hammy, and even if he plays, should we expect him to be limited b/c of trouble moving out of the pocket? Thanks!
Mark: I don't get the impression that his injuries are that serious but they certainly are accumulating. While I don't think there's any serious risk to his playing status, I do think there's reason to wonder just how mobile he'll be. Maybe there will be some limitations that will show up in subtle ways, but very hard to predict/project.
Any word on Britt playing this week?
Don: Expected to play. No further discipline expected.
OK everyone - time for me to head out of the chat room. Hope everyone has a Happy Halloween and good luck in Week 8!!
